The wings were interesting, with the grilled onions and focaccia bread. The pizza was OK, but expensive. The staff took a bit too long to check on us once we were done. Also, they don't seem to know what type of restaurant they are. The lights were dim, like a romantic restaurant (which made it hard to read the menu), but the TVs that ringed the walls were tuned to a football game and fairly loud, like a sports bar. Considering the dining options in the Wayne NJ area, we probably won't be back. read more

Stopped in for the 1st time on Sunday night for dinner with my family and we left very pleased. Service was very attentive throughout or meal, cold; well poured drinks, and killer pizza. We started with a family sized salad which was good, nothing special: just a garden salad. We also split an order of the wings which I'll admit I was very skeptical of....here on yelp they always look like bland, baked wings with a mound of onions on top and I didnt think they would be crispy at all. Anthony's Coal Fired proved me, a doubter wrong 100%. The wings were very crispy, even to the last bite and: seasoned well. Some buffalo sauce would be good on them (not sure if they have, didn't bother to ask). Ditch the onions though in my opinion....they remind me of a Jewish roast chicken...which I enjoy; it's just if I wanted that I would've stayed home and let my mom make that. Now: on to the main event, the pizza. We split a white pie and another pie with sausage and onions. We also got some long hot peppers on the side. Crisp on the outside and edges with just enough inner chew, each pie was cooked well done as advertised. The sauce was not overpowering and was very simple; as it should be. The cheese had a good creamy, oily flavor that became brown specked in the oven and was in just the right amount. I'm very happy to have a great pizza spot so close to home finally. We enjoy going here a lot - always fun, love the salad, pizza and meatballs. We always sit at the bar and Amanda has always been very accommodating. Very upset tonight however. Everything was going well until no one was manning the bar and we waited quite a while to pay our bill. I did voice that I was upset. Server Cassandra was hanging out with a table of men and changing the tv for them. She got belligerent with me. If she had just said "sorry to keep you waiting" all would have been fine. I asked to speak to the manager. She said right in front of us, "she is going to complain about me, I heard her already." Now I work in customer service and this is not the way to talk to someone even if I was complaining. The manager Melissa was very nice and spoke like a professional. She apologized for Cassandra. I told her that Cassandra should have just apologized and all would have been OK. Manager said she would have Cassandra apologize and I declined as I know it would not have been sincere. Such a disappointing experience after all of these years. Do not know if we will be back for awhile. By the way, Cassandra also stated that we did not want to use our points, which was not the truth - we also had a $25.00 gift credit which we wanted to apply. Really enjoyed this place. Nice decor and staff. Ordered a pizza with eggplant and olives, and a couple martinis since it was their $6 special for drinks. And cheesecake for dessert. A larger dessert offering would be good as cheesecake is all they have. But we really liked everything. read more

I ordered two large pies one with cheese and fresh basil and one with cheese fresh basil and prosciutto the first party when I got home did not have basil and the second pie was perfect the total bill was $45 and when I got home to eat it with my family I have to admit it tasted like cardboard and I was not very satisfied with the product for the price I paid ,now this may be just a fluke because we have ordered pizza there before but it in-house and I remember it being better for the price I'm a take care of it left a lot to be desired and probably will not do that again read more

Total s %×t show.....the food is always good when you get it.......the he pizzas, salads drinks are all fairly priced.......but the big but is if your staff can't execute then it's just another eatery........I was there and we sat at the bar last Sunday about 5ish.....our drink order did take some time when the bar had 6 people sitting at it.......the restaurant half full.......so our drinks come all is good I am hoping that the here is better customer service......the here hen we order a salad.....theherehenhey are pretty good along with two meatballs........our salads came all is going ok.......I look around and 5 of the 6 people sitting at the bar drinks have evaporated...........finally we get a refill......but my meatballs are still not served......so I say to the young lady cancel my meatballs and we will order a pie.......she comes back and says the meatballs are on the house......we eat the pie and get the remaining slices wrapped.......so she asked if we ever got the meatballs..........I said no.......then the words flow off her lips......well you didn't want them anyway.........wow.......poor service starts from the top.......the menu is very small which is ok with me.......but they can't deliver on it.........they should be ashamed of themselves.......poor service is poor service and I experienced it twice at this location and the Fair Lawn lications........ should I try the Ramsey location........they definitely hire from a duck pond....... read more

Last week was my first time eating at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza and I LOVED it! I'm a vegetarian and I'm always pleased when there are multiple options for me. The first time I came, my family and I ordered the cauliflower pizza. It was good but definitely not amazing as many people have said it is. It was pretty dry so we asked for a side of Mariana sauce. We took about half of it to go and it was honestly better the next day. The second time around, I just went for a basic margarita pizza and it was great! I really loved how the pizza wasn't greasy. Drink wise, I would definitely recommend the Italian margarita. read more

Great new location! Place has plenty of seating and not to cramped. Looks small from the outside but it's not. Has some nice outdoor seating as well. The separate pickup area and entrance is great ,keeps the people and place moving . The bar area is a decent size and they have a great selection of beer wine and other alcohol. Sliding glass windows open from rear of bar to the outside seating. Screen comes down, brings in fresh cool air and nice look. The food. Have not tried any of the appetizers yet but the selection looks good and I hear they are tasty. The pizza is thin crust and the signs on the wall clearly let you know that the pies are well done. They are. We had eggplant and have the Paul and Ron young, which come with meatballs,ricotta and hot or sweet peppers. Very good pies. Have had a few others at the Clifton location. All around this is a great spot thAt has been packed since opening. The manager is very friendly and will fix any issues you have. Staff are young and most are new to the business. But they are nice and definitely don't have to search for them. Would recommend coming here and I can wait to go back and try more. By the way! The large pies are 20 inch pies. This was my first ever visit to a Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. It was 7pm on a Saturday afternoon. It seemed I could not pick a busier time since the place was packed both inside and outside. I took one of the few available spaces at the bar. The bar seating goes all the way around but 1/4 of it is outside when good weather allows for opening the large glass windows. The bartenders/servers were upbeat, energetic and happy to be there. I ordered the broccoli rabe and sausage meal. I am no fan of broccoli in general but I've chosen to force myself to get more greens. I ate my meal while watching the Mets, the Giants and the Jets while I listened to 60's flower power ballads. I had the most broccoli that I've ever had at one sitting. I gobbled it up in the beginning then had to power through to the end while spacing out the sausage bites in between. I hear they make pizza so I might try that next. read more

I accidentally placed an order at the Livingston location but went to pick up in Wayne. The staff was so helpful and called the other location to cancel my order. They told me that they would do their best to finish my order as quick as possible. As I was waiting the manager asked me if I wanted a drink in the mean time. Wayne has been in DIRE need for a pizza joint with good, crispy, thin, not sloppy, delicious pie. Too many places around here serve oily messes, but NOT Anthony's! My dad is SO picky about pizza, so we were skeptical to try it. Well finally, a place in this town got his stamp of approval! The pizza was thin and crispy, well-done as promised, and had a delicious flavor. There was no need to blot the top of the pie with a paper towel because of oil, and the cheese wasn't sliding around. The coal-fired wings are absolutely SUPERB!! They were meaty, definitely not frozen, cooked well, and just plain delicious. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and helpful. Jose Santiago was our server and from the moment he greeted us at the door to the very ending of our meal the service he provided was absolutely exceptional. He was attentive to every minute detail and was engaged through out the entire time. He was kind and patient. He was extremely polite and professional. His smile was infectious and his positive energy radiated through the restaurant. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious and Jose just made the experience phenomenal. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming, all with genuine smiles. Jose was definitely the example of the positivity that flowed thorough out. He is an asset not only to the location and restaurant but to the entire company. We will be returning to this location and requesting Jose personally. He was a natural leader with his peers, should be training all the company staff on customer service! I even asked to speak to the manager to rave about the service. After much anticipation we tried Anthony's take out only. Three times in two weeks!! The first time I ordered the famous wings & the lunch chicken sandwich with roasted peppers, arugala n fresh mozzarella. Wings were great sandwich was also delicious a lot of the stuff on it that over powered the chicken. We also noticed that the chicken was very unevenly distributed more on one side so we had to adjust. It still needed more chicken to satisfy the amount of other stuff. I was also asked if I wanted to try the awning pick up?? Which means u pull up on the side by the black awning n they come out n deliver your order to you....well of course I said yes! Upon arrival I waited for a good 8 min I was in a hurry so I thought well they must not know I'm here! So I went in!! . Just an FYI...take out order #2.... Well this was a real doozy!!! Ordered a small pizza 12" IAsked for 1/2 mushroom 1/2 prosciutto,and an Anthony's favorite sandwich from the lunch side ( consisting of fresh mozzarella,prosciutto, arugala and fresh tomato on focaccia bread.) again they ask about awning pick up I say yes in hope that they will come out btw this is around 5/6 at night. So I pull up n wait about 4 min...two girls comes out!! They tell me it's like 15$ or so....so I tell them I think you have the wrong order , my cost should be more around $20 ish. So she says oh that's because we gave you a lunch size pizza! Why? Well because we don't do half and half on pies!!!! REALLY?? So you gave me as a lunch pizza? Yes with mushroom!! And a side of proscuitto !!! I'm like your kidding right? I tell her go back in and see if you can just get me a plain lunch pie and I will put the proscuitto on myself. She comes back hands me my order and says nope they don't have one. I'm thinking who decided to make this executive decision? I asked y didn't u call? Couldn't find your #!!! Well then next best thing...just give the customer what they asked for and suck it up!! Nope....so I Leave very pissed bc I got two grown kids and myself to feed with a pie the size of a dinner plate and a sandwich that when I get home has hardly any mozzarella on it....they must have an arugala garden somewhere bc again I got a lot of arugala like the first sandwich but not much of the other stuff!! Wow I was so disappointed and hungry to! 1,2,3 strikes your out. So we try again, this time my hubby orders a large pie with sausage and onion and a plain pie. He gets home and says wow guess how much for two pies? 39.99!!!! I said what the heck you got gold on it? NO....just two toppings ....but Anthony's charges 2.99 for the first one and 1.99 thereafter!! Would not be so bad if they actually gave you the toppings to make it worthy...but talk about skimping!! And the crust was burnt!! A. Big no no in my book. Listen, I have had pizza in many places including Italy. NYC, and the famous Wooster street in new haven, ct!! You want to talk about outrageous pizza!! Try it one day!!Peppis is awesome...and Tollis in East Haven! The pie is good I'll give them that but it's not worth the price they charge! Sorry...flour,water,sauce cheese....it's not justifiable in my book. You r paying for the high end coal oven and the liquor license! I think I'll stick to bradlees pizza it's worth every $1.00!!!!! She gives you a Pie with sausage on it not a few crumbs scattered on!!! Staff needs to know how to figure out different situations....and the #1 thing..never let the customer go home without making the situation better then it was!! read more
