My late father loved this car, and now I've been left dealing with constant issues caused by Anthony's sloppy and careless work. It's been frustrating, emotional, and incredibly costly. After a long and expensive year of chasing down these problems, one honest mechanic finally told me the truth: Anthony's used a cheap part just to get the car out the door. That decision led to ongoing damage that could've been avoided with quality service and integrity. What's worse is how this place treats people. They charge top dollar but cut corners, and when you ask questions, the front desk -- who may act polite at first -- turns rude and dismissive. I spent $1,500 that lasted few days. When I called to hold them accountable, they only refunded me $52. This place is a scam. They don't care about you or your car -- just your money. Should be called Anthony's Low Tech! AAA Call. Request Flatbed and they send a wrecker. Vehicle that needs tow is a Jeep Wrangler with a broken frame. Driver calls office and tells them they need a flatbed, office says it will be some time as flatbed is busy. An hour later AAA calls me back and basically says that Anthony's Low Tech won't tow it because they're SCARED! AAA has another company coming. read more

The Driver, Marshall arrived in a very timely manner and even called to see where exactly my truck was located in the vast corporate park. He hooked up my rig and we were on our way to the Auto Body shop. Marshall was efficient, professional and courteous. I felt at ease immediately even under such stressful circumstances. He went above and beyond, and his upbeat demeanor was extremely appreciated and helpful. BEWARE OF SCAMMING!!!! There was a "Emergency Order" for construction outside of my apartment building overnight, so my car was towed by the PD to Anthony's at 8PM on Tuesday night. Wednesday afternoon, once the PD informed me of where my car was, I called Anthony's shop number, as listed on their website, in effort to find out how much it would cost so that I could get cash to pay to get my car back. The phone only rang one time before going to voicemail, so I tried a few more times to get through. On the 5th call, a man answered the phone and said "what?!?!" Unsure if this was the auto center, I asked if my car had been towed there. The man replied that he did not know and he was busy and would not be at the shop for another 30 minutes. I went over to the shop and see if someone could help me, as to not risk an increased storage rate. I arrived at the shop and no one was inside. I texted the number seeking clarification on the hours as the door said they were open until 5 PM, but no one had been there since 3 PM. The man responded "I told you I wasn't there guess you didn't listen" and that my bill would be $251 and needed to be paid in cash. I responded asking for clarification on the amount due because I had been informed the non consensual towing fee was capped at $125 (per Connecticut statute) - the man did not respond. In the meantime, I called a neighboring shop to question the price. They told me that the statute does cap the fee and that it he insisted on the excess payment I could file a complaint with the DMV. The man arrived to the shop at 4:07 PM and told me my total was $258. I looked at the bill and asked why there was a 2 day storage fee when the car had been impounded less than 24 hours ago. He told me that my car had been there for 2 days. I pointed to the 8:09 PM 8/27/2024 impound time on the bill (less than 24hr ago) and he just walked over to the computer and said "it will be $210.00." I asked him to please print me the new bill as it was still in excess of the statutory maximum. He told me I did not know what I was talking about and that police having your car towed is not a non consensual tow (which is quite literally exactly what a non consensual tow is). When he handed me the new bill I noticed he was charging me $56.50 for a 10 mile towing charge. I'd asked how that was the mileage when his shop is only 2.4 miles away (note: the bill says "dispatched at 8:06 PM and impounded at 8:09 PM"). He told me he did not know what route the tow truck took and that it was ultimately my fault for parking where I wasn't allowed. I reiterated that I was just confused where the numbers were coming from and the bill had already changed once since I'd been here so I just wanted to clarify. He told me he would not discuss it any further and that I could do other pay it (and that he would not give me change) or that I could leave and I had 5 minutes to decide what I was going to do. read more

I live in another state and was involved in a car accident in the town of Shelton in late November. My car was towed to Anthony's. a week or so later, I found out that my car was a total loss. I called Anthony's to ask them if they could please remove the plates as well as a garage remote that I had left in my vehicle. I fully intended to go pick up the items, but was told by the apparent owner, Manny, that he would mail them to me. I was grateful and even offered to send him a prepaid envelope. He declined and said he would mail them out as soon as he could. A couple of weeks later, I still had not received the items. I called again, and he apologized, saying that they were right on his desk, and he would mail them out as soon as possible. It has now been more than 2 1/2 months since the first phone call. I've called at least a half dozen times, sent emails and texts to make sure they had my correct address. The information was confirmed by Anthony's. Today I had the extreme displeasure of speaking to Manny once again. He insisted that he had sent the plates and the remote. He could not tell me when he sent them, nor where he sent them. he kept telling me to call the post office, and when I tried to get some information from him, he got agitated and abusive. Admitted to not putting a return address on the envelope. He made dozens of excuses, including "I'm a young buck and I do everything electronically. I don't send things through the mail and I never put return addresses on things.". He acted like it wasn't a big deal, and told me that new garage remote were "cheap at Home Depot". He also berated me , saying "what's the big deal? I don't think anyone's going to go to your house and try to open your garage using that remote". At this point, I don't know if he threw them in the trash or what happened. If you need Towing service, do yourself a favor, and avoid interacting with this irresponsible nitwit. read more

DRIVER MOHAMMED K BROKE TWO PARTS OF MY CAR! If I could give this tow place 0/5 stars I would. They broke two parts of my car, the plastic guard behind my front right wheel which I noticed as soon as I was in the lot and took pictures of it there, as well as the bushing underneath my car. Once I drove my car was making clanking noises, I have a new subaru lease, my car never made these noises before so I knew it was from the tow. Luckily, my mechanic is a saint and fixed it for free. I told him my car got towed and he said that makes sense and that they towed it carelessly and wrong because the only way for the bushing to break and get loose in a car is if the tow was dragging my car. They are lucky I did not have to spend a cent otherwise they were gonna have to hear from me and reimburse me for breaking parts of my car. Do not trust them. It is also cash only but they have no cash in their ATM... As well as technically it was 192.97 and front lady told me 193... trying to keep my three cents after breaking my car smh. read more

We all know how stressful and tense it is when we encounter urgent issues with our vehicles that ultimately require having our vehicles towed to a garage. And it always happens at the most in-opportune time - - affecting our own work days and personal appointments of importance. My instance today was after taking my 83 year Mom to all her doctor appointments and the last 'trek' of the day was to get her back home in time to take her insulin, etc. Well, long story short, after a quick stop at my house to use the facilitities and take care of my 3 'monster' chihuahua puppies, I was not able to start my car. Long story short, it was presumed that it was my car's battery and /or something related to the electrical system and I needed to get my car towed to my garage for repairs. So, I did what we all do and I called AAA. Anthony's High Tech Auto Center was dispatched. The operator that came to my rescue was Marshall D. Not only was I kept up to the minute with status of his estimated arrival time, but Marshall D also texted me twice .. once that he was in route and again as he was approaching. You know, I've been around the block enough to have had my fair share of experience with such need of urgent services - - both good and bad experiences - - from repairmen to technicians of really every field (home, auto, utilities, etc). BUT, when I say that Marshall was THE most polite young man, the most professional, and the most proficient technician / serviceman that I have encountered in quite a few years, well, I mean just that. Marshall went above and beyond for me. He turned what was a very stressful and tense day for me (and my 83 yr old Mom) into a calm and 'we got you' day. Marshall's wealth of knowledge in what he did for me and the contagious smile he did it all with was just what I needed!!! I do hope this young fella is rewarded by his management. Our tipping (as a "lady in distress") only goes so far... please do whatever it takes to keep this young man in your employ and see that these acknowledgements of his above and beyond service reaches his direct management for when his annual employee review comes around. Someone from their company accepted money when it was being towed for ot to be dropped off at my apartment. Also they gave me one hour to get it before they charge more (I called at 11:50am) and the website says open until 2 pm. Karma. I'm paying my dues and these rats will get it as well... hahaha. On 1/19/24 I was waiting for your driver for over 3 hours. It could've been a much shorter wait if the driver had made any attempt at all to communicate with me. I had locked my keys and phone in my car at a gasoline pump at Cumberland Farms in Ansonia. I had given specific instructions to AAA that I was not able to access my phone as it was locked in my car. I gave clear instructions as to the year, make & model of my car. I was inside the Cumberland Farms waiting as it was 20 degrees. Had your driver put any effort in at all I would not be giving you thins poor rating. An Ansonia police officer told me that Anthony's Towing would be coming for AAA. I finally saw your driver parked across the street at Burger King & had to cross the street & ask if indeed he was the person coming to unlock my car. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is long because it was a horrible encounter with the employee Greg who should not be dealing with customers. On September 16, my husband brought our 1998 Chevrolet Malibu to Anthony's for an oil change. Starting the next day, the oil pressure light started coming on. In 21 years of owing this car I had never seen that light come on. I kept telling him that he should take it back to see what had happened, since this only started after the oil change. On October 1, my husband was driving our boys to soccer practice when my son Facetimes me because a light came on. I got very scared when I saw that the temperature light was on and the needle was all the way to the red edge. I told him to stop driving; luckily he was at the field by that time. I canceled the classes I had to teach that night to drive over and bring him coolant. He filled the coolant tank and drove home. During that drive, the oil pressure light came on again. On Wednesday, October 2 my husband to the car back to Anthony's. He was told that he would receive a call in 3 hours letting him know what was wrong and to get permission to make repairs. The car is old and nearing it's end of life, even though it only has about 65,000 miles on it. We can't drive it too far because it does not have top tethers so I can't put a proper seat for my 6 year old and it can't be retrofitted at this point. By Thursday afternoon we hadn't heard anything from Anthony's, so my husband called them in front of me around 11:30am. He was told that they hadn't looked at it yet and as soon as they took a look they would call back and let us know what was wrong and ask if we wanted to fix it. Never heard anything. On Friday, October 4, we drove down to Anthony's around 2pm to find out the status of the car since we still hadn't gotten a call from them. Greg told us that he had great news; he was able to get the car fixed and we owed $886 dollars. I was stunned. That day I was worrying about how I would buy groceries because I don't get paid until the end of October, and even then what we owed is almost my entire paycheck. I was still so shocked that I just said we'll come back when we have the money. Over the weekend I did some research and discovered that it is illegal to make repairs without the authorization of the car owner. I spoke with the DMV, and they told me it was illegal and that I should pay for the repairs and then send in the receipt showing what was done along with a complaint form. Fortunately my husband was able to get a loan from family members in Mexico, but with a high interest rate and we were losing money off the bat on that because of the exchange rate from pesos to dollars. On Wednesday, October 9 we finally had the money in our bank account and drove yet again to Anthony's. When we arrived, I asked Greg why the repairs had been done without our consent. He started almost yelling at us that he did receive permission, and that he called us numerous times. He told us that the car had been having trouble since we brought it to them 1,000 miles ago. When I first arrived in Connecticut, I brought the car to Anthony's for an inspection to be able to change the registration from NY to CT. There were no problems with the car at that time, and I never took it there again because I was going to a different mechanic. Since he stated that he had called us numerous times, I asked him when exactly he called because we have no record of any calls on our phone. I showed him the call log on my husband's phone which only showed the call we made to him. He then denied what he just said about numerous calls and told us that he spoke with my husband when he went in and that my husband agreed to repairs up to $750. When I told him that the repairs were more than what he stated had been agreed to so they should not have been done, he started stuttering and yelling at us that he had gotten permission. He just kept repeating that my husband had given him permission. I had my 20 month old with me and he was getting cranky so I finally just said fine, we'll pay. He then stated that we had to pay cash; he refused to accept a credit card from us even though the business accepts credit card, which he had told us on Friday. We had to go back out in the pouring rain, get in our car, and drive to the bank to get cash. When I got to the bank it was a few minutes past closing, but luckily the employees at Milford Bank are great and they let me in when they saw I was practically crying. I explained the situation, and they wanted to make sure that I was comfortable giving cash to this shady business. I got the money, we drove back in the rain to Anthony's, I paid him the cash and we got our car. To top things off, one of the items they supposedly repaired was NOT repaired. Hi there. My husband and I were on our way back from a party in Danbury last night at about 11pm. On the way home, the dashboard indicated trouble. My husband thought it was the alternator. We called triple A and in less than a half hour a truck came and the driver, Ramone, hopped out in the rain to help us. He was polite, sympathetic and friendly. And efficient. He got the car on the tow truck bed very quickly, strapped it in well, and we were off. He was so helpful! He said he would put a note and the car key in our mechanic's drop box for us. I was incredibly impressed with the service and professionalism for their towing team. I had blown a tire on route 95 and was stranded on the shoulder in a very unsafe location. At the recommendation of the dealership, we called Anthony's to tow me there so that the tire could be changed. The person that answered the phone was incredibly helpful and put me at ease. I think he could tell that I was stressed, nervous, and didn't really know what to do. He was reassuring and calming and also gave me extra tips for specific situations (i.e. what to do if police, highway patrol, or others show up). They arrived very quickly (~30 minutes after I called). They told me it would be cheaper for me if they changed the tire to my spare and I drove to the dealer, rather than being towed there. I appreciated their honesty. They changed the tire in an incredibly unsafe location on the side of 95 and did not complain once. They were efficient, professional, and they had me follow them off of the highway so we could complete the paperwork in a safe location. I will definitely be using them again should the need arise. Derelict, with crumbling pavement and sidewalk, abandoned signs from an old gas station, and tall weeds everywhere. Can you please clean up your appearance? The appearance of this business is doing NOTHING for your reputation or likelihood of securing business. It looks like an abandoned lot in a bad section of Bridgeport. I'm embarrassed and ashamed that this place is in my town. What an eyesore! I've already complained to city hall about the fact you didn't shovel your sidewalks last winter even once. Horrific. I brought my antique car to them since they're "high tech." I realized quickly when they were telling me that they were going to use synthetic oil for the oil change that they had no clue what they were doing. Synthetic with a vintage car? Worse yet, later they tried to illegally tow my car (police called and it was acknowledged that it was an illegal tow) and then tried to claim I hit them with my car and started calling me prejudiced names. I receive consistently good service from the staff here. The front office staff and mechanics are very good, and in some cases have accurately diagnosed issues with my car months in advance. In one instance I decided to disregard their advanced warning and I regretted it. The prices are fair and work is always done on time. I used to bring my vehicles to Anthony's for everything. The service manager, Greg was great and the mechanics seemed good too. The thing that drove me away was seeing the way the tow side of the business operated. If your going to have big flashy trucks with the name of your business all over the side then you better make sure the people working for you represent you well! Waaaay to often the trucks can be seen driving around town, driven hard, over curbs, cutting people off, etc. If that's how you treat your property, I don't want you handling mine. It's not like this was an exception with one operator - that I could overlook. When I pointed it out it was like a joke that it was just the way those guys were. Shortly there after the owner was accused of some shady business practices and that was enough to send me else where. Last week my speedometer stopped working while I was in a traffic jam on 95 in West Haven. I got off highway and was able to ride back roads to Anthony's while the car was hesitating, bucking and the engine light was on. I was completely panicked by the time I rolled into Anthony's two minutes before closing time. Greg, immediately stopped what he was doing and put a tester on my car. Even though it was closing time he took his time and helped calmed me down. My next concern, because my car is 15 years old, was even though he said it was the speed sensor, he would call and give me a list of things that needed repair. It has happened every time I have taken the car to other mechanics. It did not at Anthony's. They checked the car out and reassured me everything else looked good and just fixed the sensor. The car is running great. Finding a place to have your car repaired where you can trust the people and they take the time to explain things to you is hard to find. Anthony's is that place! read more

My husband and I had given our daughter an old car to use; she does not live with us. On Thursday May 26, 2016, we received a certified letter from Anthony's Auto Center telling us they had had our Toyota Corolla since May 9, 2016, when it had been towed for a street cleaning violation. Out of fear, she paid the ticket on May 9, but never told us about the ticket or the towing and did not retrieve the car. So, we had no idea our car was accruing fines and fees at Anthony's Auto Body until we received a certified letter, dated 5/21/16 from them. We paid $766.78 in fees on June 1, 2016, as soon as we could get there after the Memorial Day holiday. Our complaint is that as registered owners, we were not notified by Anthony's Auto Body Shop for fully 12 days after they received our vehicle. When we asked them why it took them so long to notify us, they told us it was the fault of the City of New Haven. They had sent the City a fax, but it took the City of New Haven 12 days to respond, according to Monica at the front desk. When we asked Monica why Anthony's Auto Body charged $28 a day when the City of New Haven website posted the fee as $24 a day, she got angry and shouted that it wasn't her fault that the City didn't update its website! She then slammed the window shut and made phone calls until she judged that she had made us wait long enough. She only opened the window when another customer came in and stood in line. Why is there a discrepancy between what is posted on the City website and what we were actually charged? I have not received a confirmation from the City of New Haven to my query, so I cannot verify Monica's story. Was my daughter immature in how she handled this?
