Over two hours and still waiting... I've never written a review on here before, but tonight deemed it necessary. I ordered on GrubHub at 7:45pm and the estimated delivery time read 50-60min. When I received my order confirmation, delivery time was updated to 8:55-9:05pm. It's not 9:56pm and I'm STILL WAITING. I don't care how good the food is at this point, I just want to go to bed.... It is 9:22 PM, and I still do not have my meal (again, a salad, nothing complicated). I just called the restaurant again and no one picked up. Long time Yelp user, First time commenting on Yelp. My Girlfriend and I ordered from Cafe Anthony based on reviews but were upset by its overall performance. We placed our order for delivery at 7:55 and it did not arrive until 9:07, this seemed to be a pretty long wait for a place 2 miles away. My Girlfriend ordered a Spinach Salad and it did not come as advertised and was missing elements listed in the details. The real issue was with the Buffalo Wings. I have had a fair share of Buffalo wings from the Boston area, these were by far the worst. I can deal with the fact that they were over breaded, under cooked, and overall soggy, It happens. What I am most disgusted about is the quality of meat used. I didn't notice till the following day, in my office lunch room, that the meat/pieces of chicken used are questionable at best. I tried to reheat them in a toaster oven in my office to crisp them up and I thought during this process a few wings got stuck together. I tried biting into the odd shaped wing to only have the breading peel off. Under the breading I found an elongated piece of "meat" that was filled with odd looking ligaments, veins, and odd colored material. This looked to resemble a mixture of chicken parts stuck together or what one co-worker said "the chickens neck." It made my stomach turn and everyone in my office question where i got this food from. Looking closely at the other wings there seemed to be a few more that were odd shaped and seemed out of the ordinary, these went right into the trash. Took me forever to stop in here as its a bit out of view a block away from Cambridge Street, but now I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Far and away the best pizza in the area and frankly among the better pizzas I've had in all of Greater Boston. With so much pizza in this region being underwhelming, this was an amazing find. Its an Italian style pizza, more in the model of a generic NYC joint but without Boston's tendency to prefer doughier pizzas. Plenty of flavorful cheese, decent but not memorable crust, fine, unobtrusive sauce. The decor is very basic. The chairs in particular seem a bit shaky, but there are plenty of tables and the staff has always been friendly and were quick to remember me making for a pleasant experience whenever I stop in. Wish I didn't just work near here as I'd love to order from them more often. read more

Since I just moved to the area a couple months ago, I'm a relatively new customer for them. They are extremely convenient to my new apartment, so since moving I've ate there 4 or 5times...ordering something different each time. I have yet to be let down. An extremely friendly staff, with great food that is reasonably priced. The owners are Italian, so they place has hints of Italian dishes, with added American and various other cuisines...a variety of selection that offers something for pretty much everyone. I love this place! I order lunch from here all the time when I'm at work, and it never disappoints. My coworkers have even started ordering with me; it's kind of become our go-to place for the days when we're all too lazy to pack our own lunches. Not being a meat-eater myself, it makes me really happy that they have a bunch of vegetarian options beyond just salads (though their salads are great too!) This is a great place to stop on a lunch break. It's a short walk from my office, and service is fast and friendly. I've only ever had the buffalo chicken sub, but each time I've had it, it's been exactly what I wanted. It's stuffed with big juicy chicken fingers, dripping in buffalo sauce, blue cheese dressing, lettuce and tomatoes. It would be better if the sub roll was toasted, but I always forget to ask. They accept credit cards, and the guys who work the counter are always very friendly. Both of those are big plusses in my book. Most of the time I get a Chicken Cesar Salad and I have to tell you that you're not going to find someone who cares about the food they produce in the quickest time possible then these guys. This is one of my favorite places in Cambridge as I work in the area and I am a regular patron. The staff led by Chef Nancy-one of the owners are very friendly and courteous! She is aways smiling and makes you feel at home with a welcoming personality and excellent customer service! The ambience is very clean and cozy. The menu is very easy to read. Don't ignore all the reviews here that say delivery sucks and so does the food!! Almost a full hour late, after we called when they were 25 minutes late and they said they were "on their way"...insane. Especially because this place is about a mile away... No one even apologized. Food was pretty flavorless and mediocre when it arrived, and of course, cold. Mozzarella sticks were for sure frozen, the chicken broccoli pasta was absolutely bland - could have been eating plain pasta, but...the only reason for the second star, was the chocolate cake. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make it themselves as it didn't seem necessarily kitchen-made, but it was good (granted, we were starving so even the bland food was better than it would have been otherwise)! The coffee is good as are the espresso drinks. Breakfast sandwiches are tasty. I get mine on a croissant because they make really good croissants here. This is one of the few places that does egg sandwiches with the eggs overeasy (slightly runny yolk in the center, and orange all around). Most other places in the area give you a microwaved slab of pre-beaten eggs, so Café Anthony definitely wins points here. I've had breakfast here many times and they never disappoint. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!! I ordered food from them (via grubhub) and it arrived TWO HOURS LATER and COLD. I called them repeatedly and they kept telling me that the driver was on his way. When I did get the food, of the two hot items I ordered, one was about room temperature and one was COLD - I mean like it had been in a refrigerator COLD. I contacted GrubHub immediately, they called 30 min later to say that the food did NOT take 2 hours (I have the email confirmation from grubhub and the phone call from the driver so I can easily prove that I placed the order at 8:11am and that the driver called to say he was out side at 10:12am) the owner would only issue a refund if he could come pick up my food. Given that this was 30 min later and I was very hungry (because I waited TWO HOURS for breakfast)), I had already used my microwave to heat up the food and eaten it. If they had just acknowledged what happened and refunded me, I wouldn't have written this bad review--I don't think I've ever written on yelp before. This cafe is quiet, clean, has fast wifi and really nice light. It's a great place to work. Also the food is fantastic and local. They have iggy's pastries, Taza chocolate, MEM tea, etc. The salads are off the hook and the chicken is really tender and tasty. They deliver fast too if you're looking for tasty reliable food. If I could give no stars for this place, I would. This place is absolutely ridiculous. I had a bad first impression with my first delivery order months ago but decided to give them a second chance. First time I had delivery it took over an hour and a half. Second time I ordered for delivery, same deal. I really don't understand why it takes so long and they don't even call you to give you a heads up unless you call them. Not only that, they have the nerve to give you an attitude over the phone for checking on your order. I am the one who has the right to be angry here.
