I came to get a car checked out that I was about to buy from a dealership (THANK GOD I DID even though according to them they've already done their own inspections). I was running super late due to problems at the dealership but he waited for me. He was honest about the car, he put it on a lift and told/showed me what the problems were. Very nice and funny. He did not charge me for his services this time, to my amazement because I was very late! I will be coming back here and I will be recommending my friends to him! Drove over a road dip at Pomerado & Rios which broke the oil pan. Saturday morning I noticed a lot of oil in the carport. I had an 8:30am meeting in Poway but then chose to stop by an auto shop beforehand to get an opinion and a solution. I arrived at Antonio's Autocare at 7:55am at the same time as Matthew and Fred. No sooner had I parked and began relating the problem that Matthew was under the car saying what I suspected: the oil pan needed replacement. Matthew took a picture of the damaged pan with his cellphone to show me the white strips of concrete that had caused the damage. Fred said he had to order the pan for the Audi and that I'd have to return Monday morning. Meanwhile 3 quarts of oil were added. They even gave me a folded box to place under the hood to absorb the dripping oil. This morning Fred called bright and early to say that the part had arrived. I went there at 10:30 am. Originally Fred said that someone would drive me home but instead, today, he said it would only take a couple of hours so I explored the nearby area, had a nice lunch across the street at a Vietnamese restaurant. Fred called during lunch saying the car was ready! Talk about efficient service! Fred and Matthew made what I perceived as an ordeal a lot more easier to handle. Both men are very personable and kind. Pricewise, I can't compare with others. I was at the point that I just wanted it done asap. But speaking with people in the know (men, for example-hahaha!) it appears to be reasonable, perhaps even lower than other places. At the end, there was a lot of handshaking and hugs. I found out about Antonio's Auto Repair thanks to another mechanic in the area that said was too busy to take my car and suggested I check out Antonio's. Thank goodness he did! My experience at Antonio's with Fred was unlike any other I ever had at a car repair shop. Fred inspected my car himself promptly, on the spot and without hesitation. He found what was causing the strange sound, showed me it and took care of the problem, immediately. The issue was a bracket that had come loose and was spinning on the drive shaft of the vehicle. He used one of his power tools to take the bolts and nuts off the bracket and PRESTO! off the drive shaft it came. When I asked how much I owed him, he said not to worry about it. Not only did i just found a new mechanic for my car, but I got reassurance that good, honest, genuine people still exist. Thanks Fred, I hope you enjoyed the pizza! read more

I did return my car to this shop for the second time after driving my car for three days to get at least 100 miles on my mileage, but the owner Antonio refused to have my car smog, he told me that my car has several issues which is not even related to the test (like the hood strut is not working, radiator small leak, which I did fixed it already). He should have inform me that consumers are entitled to the CAP Repair Assistance program designed to help low-income consumers bring their vehicles into compliance with California emission standards. read more

Antonio's is my new go-to auto repair shop. Unfortunately, I have been to more than my fair share of mechanics in the past two years. After beginning to think there were no honest mechanics in Southern California I found myself at Antonio's after being referred by a colleague. My recent experience with fast talking, pushy mechanics that try to squeeze every penny from your wallet made me skeptical at first but after a short time working with Fred to diagnose and correct my car's issues, I knew this was the kind of mechanic I had been searching for. Antonio's is a fairly priced repair shop with honest service. Fred told me exactly what I needed, even though it wasn't what wanted to hear. No one likes going to the mechanic or paying the bill but if it needs to be done I recommend talking to Fred. Fred laid out all of my options for correcting my car's issues and we discussed how I should to proceed. He did not pressure me into doing any unnecessary work or fixing the most expensive repairs first. He left the decision in my hands but suggested we start with the easiest (least expensive) option to see if we could avoid the most costly repairs. The first option did not solve all of my car's issues but I was leaving town so I told Fred I would probably be back after the weekend. I returned on Monday and Fred and the technician had my car running smoothly in no time. There were three things that really impressed me about Antonio's. First was the complete but no pressure way Fred presented my options. Second was that over my weekend away the technician had done some research on my specific car (not knowing for sure if I would return) which saved me a trip to the dealer or an electrician and saved me some serious cash. Third, was the overall service. Fred did me some huge favors by offering me a better than fair price (I checked with other shops) and got my repairs done promptly despite being a busy day. The bottom line is I was treated well and my car received the service it needed at a good price. I will be back at Antonio's for any future maintenance or repairs. read more

I have never met a more honest, and hospitable mechanic before! Antonio's let us drop off our truck on the same day we called, and made sure we didn't spend a penny over what we needed. We needed an oil change, and tire rotation and he let us know our tires had a lifetime warranty due to the company we had purchased them from and told us we could do it for free if we drove down the street to the shop we bought the tires from! He wouldn't charge us for the diagnostic work on another problem our truck had (although every other place charges at least $100). Antonio's is worth 100 stars (but yelp only let me give it 5). Wow, what can I say about Antonio's. This is my 2nd post as I have again gotten great service from them. Used to have expensive service from another unnamed business that made me leery to go back to. I have not had such great service in regards to auto repair in a long time! At Antonio's, Fred and Ace definitly worked with my tight schedule this afternoon. I had a few warning lights that were troubleshot down to the specific components pretty quickly (which might have taken me significantly longer) and the price was a lot less than I was expecting. They definitly knew the systems and components extremely well did a great job...for a lot less than what the dealer quoted. They are very honest which I appreciated and after seeing so many great reviews on many other sites, I thought I'd give them a shot. I was not disappointed. Very surprised that there are any negative comments about this business, my experience was extremely positive and they worked with me, explaining my options as they found any issues. I will definitly be a repeat customer as they have earned my respect as a reputable and legitmate auto repair center. If I could leave more than 5 stars I absolutely would!!! I went in very last minute because my brakes started grinding and they looked and the brakes were absolutely worn right down, metal against metal. I had my 2 little ones with me but decided to just get the brakes done and they made it comfortable for us to wait and they got my car right in. The vehicle, originally being from MI and a bit older, ended up having a lot of rust that caused it to be more difficult to remove the brakes and pads, and most mechanics would have charged for extra time to work on it,b not only did they not charge me extra, they got it done more quickly than I imagined and I was out the door driving safely on the roads again with my babies! Fred was the one who helped me out and I felt completely comfortable with trusting them and not feeling like they were trying to upsell or take advantage of a female that doesn't know much about cars. They are independently owned and I will ABSOLUTELY use them time and time again for any and all repairs needed!!! read more

I came in for a smog check but had check light engine on and instead of just taking my money and doing it anyway like the previous auto repair that I went to, he tried to fix my car and told me to drive it and then come back. My check light engine stayed off and went back for a smog test and passed ! So I was so happy about that! I came to Antonio's Auto Car to get my vehicle smog checked for registration renewal as requested by the DMV. I found Fred and his associates to be very hard working individuals! When I arrived with my vehicle, they took it in and they ran a smog test on it in a very timely manner! I waited a very short and reasonable amount of time. The vehicle did not pass the smog test because I had changed the batter just the day before and it had reset the computer and it sensors. Fred was kind enough to inform me of the problem, and what needed to be done to fix it. He explained to me that I needed to drive the car around for a little bit so that the sensors on the car reboot properly. I drove around for about 50 miles before returning the next day. Fred had offered to check the car to see if it was ready to be diagnosed. He even showed me the device he was using and explained what he was looking for. He checked the car free of cost, and showed that it still needed to be driven a little bit. He said come back in 100 miles. So I drove for 100 miles, came back the next day, and sure enough he was there ready to check the car again to see if it was ready. He showed me the device, showed me that it was ready, and ran a smog test on the vehicle. The test was really fast, almost no wait. The car passed, the pricing for the smog was very reasonable and competitive. I found out that Fred and his Associates are even ASE certified. I found them all to be hard working, honest and professional individuals. I'm not sure where Alex draws her negative review from, but I think that the service from this shop speaks for itself. Fred is a hard working mechanic, very reasonable and honest, who protects his business and his prospects. He can't please everyone, but he's good at what he does and gets my 5 stars vote! Antonio's is the car repair shop that I have always dreamed of.. Antonio will install any parts I buy myself and charge very fair labor cost for installation and servicing. He is a really charming fellow and always has me laughing. He takes me back in the shop and will show me what he's working on with my car. When I ask, he will gladly take me into the shop and I can watch him and his crew do the work. I'm so happy to have found this place. Had my old car towed here after it stalled while driving the day before. Fred and JP were incredibly welcoming to me, my small child, and automobile. Luckily my car ended up having a minor problem. Got my SUV smogged there yesterday. Very friendly service and the admittedly simple task was done quickly. Both the mechanic and manager pointed out some standard maintenance items for my vehicle's mileage. Even provided a guiding printout, which they had used for their complimentary checks. I was deceived by Fred, who takes all the phone calls. He said he can mount a small riding mower tire onto it's rim on the phone but when I got there (30 minute drive) he said, "oh, I can't do that. I though it was a small tire like a DOLLY." I was upset knowing there are other mechanic up the street I said screw it and left. He specifically said he can do a 12" rim mount job and for $5-10 each. He knows damn well if he put some elbow grease into it he could have made it happen but instead I had to go elsewhere (can't remember the name unfortunately) and the guy working there named "Thomas" said "I can give it a try" and in 15 minutes I had two tires mounted on 12" rims for $20. I don't like fast talkers that just want to lure in business without thinking. While Fred did apologize, while walking away from me, and in a disingenuous fashion, I would never go there for any real service on my car. read more

He's changed tires, oil, starter motors, automatic window mechanism, brakes, rotars, and fixed the electrical circuitry for a convertible top. The yellow engine light lit up on my '01 Pathfinder and the engine became sluggish and stalled out. A had that feeling of dread in the pit of stomach. I had to find somebody trustworthy quickly and nearby to diagnose my SUV. Searching on the Internet I found Antonio's Auto Care (Fred) in May of this year. He diagnosed issues with the MAF - Mass Air Flow Sensor. He was upfront and offered me few choices, "we can try a work around (clean the sensor) drive it for a few days to see how it does or replace the part" he said. I chose the work around but he told me if the problem returns then we'll definitely need to replace the MAF. Just like Fred pointed out, if the issue comes up again it's going to happen after I drive 60 miles (resets the computer). He said if we have to replace the part then he'll just roll in the amount I paid for the diagnosis and work around towards parts and labor.So a few days later the yellow engine light turned back on and I knew I would need to replace the original MAF that has 125k miles on it. He replaced the MAF for a reasonable price and told me to call him if there were any issues. There weren't any issues until this week when my engine sputtered and died. I was 25 miles away from Poway and I called a mobile mechanic to diagnose the issue. The mobile mechanic checked it three times and said it's the code for a malfunction with the MAF sensor. I checked my receipt from May and the parts and labor are originally only had a 3000 mile or 90 day warranty. If you know anything about cars you would know that MAF sensors aren't the type of part you replace every few months on most vehicles. You get tens of thousands of miles from them. So I was thinking this was either a defective part or an issue with the wiring going to the MAF. I called Antonio's AutoCare after hours and left a message stating that I had my repair done in May 2013, left my estimate reference number and my contact information. Fred immediately called me first thing in the morning and said bring it in we'll cover it because a new part like that should have never gone bad that fast. I provided my receipts and Fred made good on his promise and covered the replacement part and service costs. The problem is fixed. The issue was the part not Fred's workmanship. I am very happy with the service I was provided. Fred could have just said, "no, it's past the 90 days" but he gets the bigger picture. Fred is personable and made the situation right. the service here was amazing, i spoke with fred before taking my car in to see what he could do for me. the drivers seat was broken and most places i called suggested taking it to an upholstery shop. i had a simple fix that would have had an excessive charge anywhere else. fred let us know that he would check out the car and problem for free and we could go from there. when we brought the car in, he was able to diagnose it quickly and give us a temporary fix. when we got the actual repair, fred only charged $150. the service was great, on top of that fred was a very humble man and really nice to talk to. i would recommend this shop to anyone with car troubles and know in the future i will be visiting this shop for all my repairs. read more
