This was the best one I ever had: the meat was from a grass fed cow- delicious, the gravy was light and flavorful, the rice was perfect. My wife had the buttermilk pancakes and sausage. She found the pancakes to be light and fluffy with a lot of taste even without adding much syrup. The prices were a little high, but reasonable. read more

I absolutely love and miss this spot! Omg. You need the Mac nut French toast and the jalapeño cheddar grits and kalua pork (when they have it). Seriously some of the best breakfast I've ever had anywhere. Good coffee, too! It's located in a shopping center and is super tiny, but I actually really love the atmosphere. Tables are outside only and there's chickens everywhere, but I think it's charming! They carry Kauai Juice Co kombucha, which is actually located right next door :) Service here is wonderful. Delightful! The French toast (both plain and the lemon curd) are the thickest French toast I've ever had and second only to The Griddle in LA. My husband had the pork fried rice which was also extremely good. We came here twice during our stay in Kauai and enjoyed it immensely. read more

Amazing! We had an awesome late breakfast here after a nearby ATV tour and were starving but didn't want to go back to our hotel right away. Fresh, delicious, fast! We also tried out their special Sunset dinner menu- I'm not sure if it's 100% happening all the time but they stayed open late for us and gave us a massive half tray with ribs, potatoes, veggies- affordable for the area and a feast! Highly recommend for breakfast in Poipu! The haupia (firm coconut pudding) French toast is awesome- a thick slice of sweet bread topped with a slice of pudding and toasted macadamias, with eggs & your choice of bacon or Portuguese sausage on the side. Everything seems to be done well here - the service is friendly & efficient, coffee is good stuff (and servers happily give you to-go cups when you leave), hot sauces are made by Kauai Juice Co, the bacon that comes with the French toast is 3 thick slices of good pepper bacon. Tables are a bit close together, and divided between 4 sections- 2 tiny indoor rooms, and 2 outdoor spaces with awnings. The wait list and host station is actually outside the doors to their "main" room and the host will come outside to meet you. read more

Anuenue Cafe serves the most unique brunch that I ever had period. I am a big fan of traditional American dinner foods and Anuenue's fusion style dishes really challenged my taste buds. If you are in hurry and still live in mainland time then you should check out Olympic Cafe which is just around the corner of the shopping center. My family and I tried to have breakfast in Anuenue Cafe on our first day in Poipu and we were discourage by the waiting time too and had breakfast in Olympic Cafe instead which is pretty good too. I am so glad that we decided to give Anuenue the other try on our last day in Poipu. Yes there were still wait time but we already be on Kauai for 8 days so we were totally chill now. On Saturday we arrived about 8:30 and were seated by 9:30 so be prepared to wait unless you arrive quite early - but it's worth the wait. They have quite an assortment of fairly traditional breakfast foods with a Hawaiian twist. My eggs Benedict was served with Kalua pork instead of Canadian bacon was wonderful the potatoes had crumbled bacon in them (everything is better with bacon) was a winner. My wife had macadamia nut pancakes, eggs and bacon; she said the toasted Mac nuts were wonderful and the pancakes worth the trip to Hawaii. High praise. Staff are working hard to keep up with the crowds but not rushing anyone. The only thing that I could criticize was the fact that I don't know whether they have very good provisions for when it is either raining or very windy. unfortunately it was both when we were there and not all of the tables stayed dry. we ordered the pork fried rice which was delicious and showcased their creative abilities, their take on loco moco, which was quite good. There was a line of about 8 people but went in 15 mins and food came fast. $17 kind of pricey for take out and the amount of food. You order inside and then take a seat outside at a table along the promenade of the small shopping mall. Service is friendly and helpful. Food was well prepared and tasty. It was nice to sit outside. Just thought the food is way too expensive for what is is. Nothing on the menu really stands out or makes this place special. I regret trying somewhere else, especially when I think about how much $$$ we spent for what we got. For one adult and 2 kids, we spent nearly $50 for breakfast. To these "folks" on here that have opted to compare this with McDonalds....*sigh* seriously??!? Come on....if you wanted McDonald's dreck, then drive your happy cheeks the 20 minutes or so from Poipu and get it! For those of you looking for something a little different (which I think is pretty much everyone...), Anuenue Cafe is, in fact, a LOT different. It's a great difference, in fact. First off, it's got that small local pop-up vibe that's fantastic. Sure, they're in a too-small place, with insufficient seating, and due to COVID restrictions there is a line out the door, but if you wait just a little while, find something to your liking on their smaller menu, and find a place in the little mall to eat your goodness, you will be rewarded with some good grinds. Bottom line. This place is really good and it's affordable in a barren wasteland of Poipu very average food - this, though, is an oasis of joy. Also, even though their menu states clearly "No Substitutions", go ahead and let them know your dietary constraints and they'll help you out. They helped me out with no frowns and no complaints. Rally great staff that works together to make sure all the customers are taken care of.
