Philip and Sophia's friendliness made me feel like I was chatting with friends rather than a salesperson. They never pushed more expensive options and were able to walk me through all the intricacies that came with creating a bespoke suit. I had no regrets on my special day. Months later when a dry cleaner crushed the buttons on my suit, they even took the suit back in and repaired everything free of charge. This will be a bit of an odd review because my initial experience with Hive & Colony was excellent - 4 or 5 stars. I ordered a tailored 3 piece tuxedo for my wedding ~2 years ago. I enjoyed working with the staff and the finished product was excellent. However, I just recently noticed a small detail was off. They stitched my initials totally incorrectly on the vest and I never noticed. No big deal, I thought. I'll just make them aware and they can rectify this small mistake. I have ordered custom suits for ~20 years and whenever there has been a clear tailor mistake, the suit or item in question was always taken back for correction. In this case, when I first made H&V aware, they said they can send me to their local tailor and pay for the fix. They said they would call me back to arrange, but they never did. I called again and this time they said they can't fix it themselves and that I should call the local tailor myself. They also said they wouldn't pay for it. I was upset by this. I spent thousands of dollars on a custom suit that they delivered incorrectly and they won't stand by their work. In my book, this is inexcusable, especially for such a high ticket item. Interestingly, the tailor they recommended, Forest Tailoring, mentioned to me personally they stopped working with H&V. They wouldn't say why but they made it clear they had a bad experience with them. I'm in the same boat and I will NEVER use H&V again. read more

My fiance and I checked out 3 local suit shops for our wedding. Hive & Colony was the 2nd shop we looked into, and it was the one that really made a lasting impression on us. I had the pleasure of tagging along my fiance on his suit appointments, and it was honestly a blast thanks to the professional and hospitable staff at Hive & Colony. The suit that my fiance got for the wedding is fire! I think it's so cool that you can customize the interior lining of the jackets and add stitched characters. My fiance wanted to get a look and feel for different swatches on his first appointment at Hive & colony. Phillip assisted us during this time, and he meticulously went through a whole gamut of textures and colors. I was wowed by how knowledgeable he was of the textures. I also appreciated his insights on materials that would be best for temperamental weather since we're getting married in New Orleans. My fiance primarily worked with Sophie, who was the absolute BEST! She helped my fiance narrow down his suit details and assisted with the fittings up to the wedding. Admittedly, the groomsmen dragged their feet a bit when it came to getting their suits. She set expectations right at the get-go and created a reverse timeline of when the guys needed to get fitted. She was highly communicative throughout the entire process (e.g. sending out reminders, helping my fiance fine tune the lining, letting us know when the groomsmen got fitted and/or picked up their suits, etc.), and she even helped to expedite when she could. read more

This Review is long overdue and is for Mr. Ixaias Avila. I came in because I needed a 3 piece suit for my brother's wedding. Ixaias was quick to welcome me and educate me on fabrics and pricing. This is my first custom suit so I wanted it done right. Ixaias took his time to measure me and offer me advice on how to dress for the event. When the suit finally came we did some extra tailoring, so that took an extra couple days. When it came back it fit perfect. I felt like a million bucks at the event and it felt even more special with my initials and name embroidered discreetly inside the suit. When I took my suit to get dry cleaned, the business I used unfortunately damaged my mother of pearl buttons. I called Ixaias and he took them to the tailor and got them fixed for me for free! Honestly the best customer service hands down. Philip was so professional and knowledgeable in suits and explaining EVERY aspect! I know nothing about suits (my fiancé does) and I totally understood every nuisance of the customized suit process from Phillip's explanation. And, you get discount for 4 or more suits. A priority for us was to be able to have the entire bridal party of 6 to get fitted since they're out of town and Philip was SO SUPPORTIVE and thoughtful in setting up a plan to schedule and measure and delivery for the wedding date. My fiancé and I went to another place before coming here and that place didn't give us the time of day. They also couldn't accommodate more than a party of 3. Will be coming back here! My buddy and I came into Hive & Colony looking to get some bespoke suits for an upcoming wedding less than a month away. Harrison greeted us and asked us to come back cause he had an existing appointment. We spent the next couple of hours going around Valley Fair mall and the surrounding areas to see what was available at an accelerated timeline. We ventured as far as Santana Row, as well as the Men's Wearhouse across the street. We couldn't find anything that caught our eye that would be ready in time for the wedding. Additionally, one of the other suit stores in the mall happened to be closed at the time, and I am so glad that it was. When we returned to the store, Harrison and Philip were there ready to help us on our journey towards getting our custom suits. Starting off with a delicious gesture from off the top shelf, I knew we were in classy, creative hands. There were countless color, fabric, and pattern options to choose from in several binders and swatches. It began a bit overwhelming, but with the careful consideration of these well-dressed designers, they guided us in the direction that would best fit our body types. Once our patterns and fabrics were chosen, we could move on to choosing custom stitch colors, button choices, engraving options, lining fabric, etc. There were so many custom (even hidden) touches that would make our suits one of a kind. After going through the countless options for jackets, pants, and shirts, we moved onto getting measured. The only other place I've gotten measured for a suit was Men's Wearhouse. H&C had many more measurements taken on and around my body, so I was confident that my suit would fit me perfectly. After about a couple hours of choosing options and getting measured, it was time to settle up. I can tell you that my suit was not a cheap one. If you're looking for a lesser priced option, H&C is probably not the place for you. But I can tell you that for me, every penny was well worth it. From beginning to end, Harrison and Philip were extremely professional and detail oriented. A few days before the wedding (right at the estimated eta we were quoted), we headed back to the store to try on our suits for the first time. Putting on a suit that was specifically tailored for you is a pretty spectacular feeling. I had a huge smile on my face while putting on my shirt and pants that were made specifically for my body. Although my jacket fit a tiny bit loose in one area, we didn't have time to make any alterations before the wedding. So Philip instructed me to bring it by for free adjustments (for the lifetime of the suit, btw) after the wedding. As a lesser attractive man, I wanted a suit that would stand out from the rest (a bit of peacocking, if you will) and that would make a statement. This suit did just that. I received so many compliments both in person and on social media on how my suit looked and fit. I'm so grateful that we found a place that could make me look and, more importantly, feel good. I was extremely comfortable in my new threads and they even withstood my aggressive dancing and running around in the woods all night during the wedding. Thank you, so much, Philip and Harrison!! Amazing experience in the store. To be clear, these suits are not made by a local clothier, but instead they are made in China. BUT so are indochinos, suit supply, and honestly just about every other custom suit option. Even my Boss Suits are Italian fabric but made in China / Indonesia. So same thing and I don't think Hive and Colony does anything wrong there. There are a few custom local clothiers that make them in the US but it is hard to find and expensive. I decided to keep my order with them because of the great service and transparency. I am hoping for the best with my suit but will edit this once it comes in. Don't worry - I'll also add pictures! I had a suit made and Hive made alterations and made sure the fit was perfect. Also they are careful to be mindful to your personal preferences and small touches, like the sleeve length if you want your watch to show. There is a lot of fabric selections to choose from, and lots of customization you can do like the buttons and the lapel style. Hive really went the extra mile to make sure I was happy with my fit, and it was very appreciated how much attention and care they have to make sure you like the fit. I like my trouser length a little longer so they made that edit after my first round of alterations. They also adjusted the vest for a snugger fit and the whole 3 piece suit looked perfect. They are super friendly and also good at fashion tips. It was really nice to get fitted from Hive and I look forward to getting my next suit from them! Also they come in a really nice traveling bags. Went to Hive and Colony to purchase a suit for my daughters wedding. Customer service the day I went in was great. Never got a call or email communication that it was ready. After 8 weeks I made the attempt to call, and was told the suit was there 3 weeks prior to my follow up call. Never received any communication by email or even a phone call. Went in to try on, and wasn't pleased with the fit, so obviously there had to be some alterations. Customer service at this point wasn't as great as initial visit. They offered to Mail the suit after alterations. Received by Fed Ex , almost 2 weeks later. So disappointed with how this was packaged. The jacket was inside out and crammed in the box, as well as the pant, and hangers. The only thing folded in the box was the suit bag. For the amount of money you invest in a tailored suit and receive in this matter was very disappointing! Now there's an added expense of getting it pressed/steamed before it can be worn. read more

I made an appointment (a day in advance) The salesman at our San Jose store spent 75 minutes with my son, asking him questions, showing him options and measuring him. The attention to detail was amazing. Normally they would deliver the suit to him personally and do any alterations. My son headed back to school a day after his fitting so they mailed his suit to him. He is truly thrilled with the outcome. I love that even though we chose their least expensive suit option they gave my son service as if he was royalty. Ixy at Hive and Colony was the most meticulous and patient about the customization of suits and the process. I was looking for a tux for my wedding and came across Hive and Colony. Price wasn't too bad considering an off the rack tux would have cost about $650 anyways. Why not spend a little bit more and get it custom. I went in planning on getting a 2 piece tux but ended up ordering a 3 piece and a custom shirt to go along with it. Man I was glad I came here. Philip helped me throughout the process of picking all the fabrics, cuts, buttons, etc. He was super patient throughout the whole process. When the suit came, it did need one or two minor adjustments but boy did it fit like a glove. I don't get overly excited about much things in life but I couldn't help but get excited about putting the final product on again. Once you get a custom suit, especially one from Hive and Colony, you probably won't look at off the rack the same anymore. Needed a suit for a wedding so after walking around my usual Valley Fair haunts, I was told to check this place out from another business down the way. I was a bit intimidated at first with all the selections but Philip really helped me narrow down some options so I wasn't staring at a thousand buttons and a million fabrics.
