She didn't make us feel rushed despite the growing line behind us (we were truly trying to hurry, though, because of it). If you like sashimi, get their sashimi appetizer! We haven't been able to find a good place for sashimi since we moved to Southern California 5 years ago. Don't get me wrong, we've gotten good sashimi, but not cut thick & with good quality that is worth the price like this place. The price wasn't even as high as many of the other sashimi places we've tried! They give you only 2 fish choices on the plate, however. They have listed about 5 or 6 different kinds, but it depends on what is available. We had salmon & tuna. Salmon is my favorite, but their tuna was fantastic! First time I can say I may have liked it better than the salmon!! Their other dishes we had were also yummy. My daughter loves scallops & they were cooked to perfection. I don't usually like scallops because most places cook them till they're rubbery. Not this place! My husband had swordfish & I had the sea bass. Both were also delicious, but I think they may have mixed up which plate went to which person. Good thing, as we were trying each others' food, my daughter noted the slight texture difference between the two (I hadn't had a chance to taste them yet). Interestingly, swordfish usually has a vastly different texture than bass, but here, they cook it so well, there wasn't a huge amount of difference! That says something since swordfish is usually very "meaty." If my daughter hadn't noticed, I wouldn't have complained even though I was looking forward to the bass. I like flakier fish. However, the bass wasn't as flaky as I anticipated, but both were so tender, the mix-up wasn't a deal breaker. I don't know how they season the rice, but YUM! Even though I'm Asian, I'm not one who usually eats the rice. It's usually just a filler for me, & since I don't eat much, I'd rather eat the "other stuff" & usually leave most of the rice. Not here! I almost couldn't get enough of it, lol! So good!! At the end, we needed boxes. We had to ask two different waitresses since the first one we asked never came with them. It's an "order at the register then find a table" type of place, so there wasnt any "service" to speak of. Be prepared to stand in line - this place is popular for a reason! Parking is a challenge, but worth it. We definitely will be back!

The bloody Mary had a perfect amount of spice and the taco included 4ozs of fish and was just outstanding. The large selection seafood is super fresh. A crowd of people were waiting for their food when we arrived. You order and pay at the counter and wait for your order. Indoor seating that overlooks the harbor is available. Most people opt to sit at table outside at tables that also have great views of the boat docks. The menu offers daily and happy hour specials. A large chalk board lists sandwiches, sushi, grilled and fried plate options and a few soups/appetizers. Bottles of wine and beer are available for purchase. I thought the meal prices were very reasonable. We ordered a Combo Plate, Fried Oyster plate and tuna sushi to share. This was a LOT of food but we wanted to share and try different fish. The fried oysters are juicy, flavorful and best fried oysters that I've ever had. The tuna sushi was delicious with the largest chucks of fresh tuna I've ever seen in a sushi roll. The fried cod in the Combo Plate was unexpectedly delicious with a light breading. I don't think I've ever had cod that was this fresh. The fried shrimp was good. The crab cake was a bit disappointing with little flavor and mushy. The generous portion of hand cut fries are fresh and delicious. The coleslaw was fresh and colorful, but didn't have much of a slaw flavor. The slaw was more of a salad, than a slaw. Overall, the food tastes excellent, is fresh and portions are generous. The clerks are friendly, engaging and the food comes out in about 15 minutes. They have a small amount of parking. We walked over from our hotel.

Hands down the best product I have ever received!!!…read more For three decades, I have been blessed to fish on long range trips out of San Diego, from Catalina to Clipperton, and everywhere in between. I've seen it all, and I can say without a doubt that the product that I just received from Fisherman's Processing is the very best in the industry. That rainbow, iridescent hue of light diffraction is the proof right there. Solid omega 3's, and it all starts with the processing on the Royal Star. The crew is dedicated to Shinkei Jime, proper bleeding, cleaning, and immediately getting each and every tuna into the RSW. On my most resent 16 day trip, not once did I see any fish on the deck for more than just a few minutes. Even during the hot bites with fish constantly coming over the rail. The crew's work ethic is clear. Not only do they want you to have a great time and catch the fish of a lifetime, but they sincerely want to produce the highest quality product achievable. Who wouldn't want share the very best product with friends and family? Thank you to the Royal Star and Fisherman's Processing. My wife said I can go again and again if I come home with fish like that! SOLD!!!

I called them on a Sunday morning, they immediately answered the phone and helped me to locate my fish because I was not sure which boat they came in on. They checked the status and my fish was cut but not frozen per the instructions given by my fisherman friend. I arrived shortly before closing to give the fish as much time in their freezers as possible. Staff was bustling with lots of activity after a busy weekend but they were friendly and efficient. I went into the office and saw my favorite poke spice so I picked up a pouch of that as well. Minutes later a friendly lady brought out a rack of fish and loaded it into my cooler and packed it with ice. I tipped her and was on my way quickly. When I got home I realized how clean the cuts were on the fish. I believe they get about 30% yield which is understandable as there are many bones, blood lines and skin that is not saved. I am not sure if you can negotiate to have any of that stuff saved if you like to make fish stock or have spoiled kitties like I do. My kitties are even more spoiled now as they received the 5* portion of the fish for their treats instead of scraps.
