The wait. The wait is WORTH IT. My boyfriend and I came on a Sunday at 1:00 PM and we were told the wait was 1 hour and 30 minutes. The real wait ended up being 2 hours exactly. Another 30 for the food to come out. 2 hours and 30 minutes total. Yes you wait, but its because the food is so DARN GOOD. The rumors are true, they sell out quick! We were lucky enough to order the brisket and ribs just in time. Man oh man is it good. And the amount of food is sharable for sure! For sides, definitely get their loaded mac and their deliciously seasoned fries. My boyfriend loved the cornbread but i dont like it in general. Apocalypse BBQ has been all over my feed for the past week since their grand opening at the new location was over the weekend so we had to visit. If you're in Kendall (& even if you aren't), this spot is worth the visit! I'm actually not a BBQ fan but this spot might have just converted me. I came here with a couple of friends and decided to try out Apocalypse BBQ over their grand opening weekend. Their line is not for the weak. When we got there around 1pm, they had 77 parties waiting in front of us. We put our names down and decided to walk around the plaza that their location was in. After killing time for about an hour and a half, we got a text message that we were next for a table. If you choose to wait it out in the line, they gave our free beer! When we got seated, all the staff was super friendly and all did their best to stay on top of which tables they were serving. The inside I heard seats 200 and it felt cozy in a good way since it took over this diner location. Since it was grand opening, I think they were still in the beginning process of putting the decor of the place together since the walls did seem a bit plain but, overall, it was super clean and an ideal spot for a place with this hype. They had booths and even bar seating. We decided to try a bit of everything since they didn't have a sampler style plate available. We got the ribs, brisket, chicken wings, corn bread, mac and cheese, french fries, & elote. This spread split among the three of us was good and I even got to take some leftovers to-go. We all had different favorites for the proteins so safe to say, everything was good. My personal favorite was the ribs with the cafecito BBQ rub! The fries were probably the least noteworthy but only because everything was amazing. I actually loved the fries because it was a great side to eat with all the BBQ since it was so flavorful. The true star of the show- the cornbread that is iconically shaped like a skull- a nod to their apocalypse theme. I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. The empanadas are some of the best I've had in my life. The cheese they use absolutely elevates this to another level. The burger was also perfectly rare and juicy. And again, the cheese used elevated the the burger as well. First time to this BBQ hotspot situated in Kendall. To start off I must warn that wait time is an issue here due to the demand (waited 2hours to be seated). So, if you want to eat here I would recommend a smaller party and/or getting here early. This is the only reason I am not giving it a 5 star. I was really disappointed with the customer service when picking up my to-go order. The woman outside taking orders was very short with me, dismissive, and had an attitude throughout the interaction. While I was waiting, I noticed she was offering complimentary beverages to other customers, but I wasn't offered anything. I had to ask multiple times just to get a cup of water. The food may be good, but first impressions and customer service matter. I hope management addresses how customers are treated because everyone should feel equally welcome and respected. read more

We were one of the first parties seated. About 10 minutes before opening, one of the staff members came out and started taking down our info. The most tender piece of brisket! The flavor was delicious. The peppered crust was perfection! Ask for all the sauces and the staff will kindly oblige. Cafecito Ribs- My absolute favorite!!! And I'm not typically a ribs person, but the immaculate flavor on these ribs were down to the bone. Pineapple Piggies- Giant slab of pork belly with a sweet pineapple glaze. Definitely a different flavor from the rest, but I loved it because it gave a break from the smoky flavors. For sides we got the loaded mac and cheese which was amazing, This isn't your normal mac and cheese. The flavors were loaded. We also had the baked beans and they were to die for. It had chunks of meat in it which really gave it a potent flavor. And of course the cornbread!! Drizzled in honey, do not skip out on this!! It is a must!! It is soooo goood. WOW, the drive to Kendall and the 30 min wait were 100% worth. I loved everything from my experience at Apocalypse. The ambiance was cozy and kind of dark. I liked it. I appreciate the fact the owner is literally going table by table engaging with customers and being appreciative of the business. Hands down! It was a hot afternoon so I had to start with a drink. We had their atomic passion and the flamed guava. Both were well crafted but the flamed guava was the icing on the cake. Perfectly balanced for sweetness, acidity, smokiness and spiciness. It's mouth watering, for sure. For the appetizers, we had the skull-shaped corn bread, wings and empanadas. While the corn bread with hot honey on top was pretty fun, the wings and empanada were my favorite, specially the empanadas, the brisket empanada was one of the best empanadas I have ever had. The pulled pork and goat cheese was super delicious too but I think the meat was too compressed which made it a bit dry, but it had so much meat in, pretty good actually. The coleslaw was refreshing and the perfect complement for the ribs which were juicy, coming off the bone nicely. The BBQ sauce was nicely balanced, the perfect level of sweetness, savory, smokiness. Apocalypse BBQ is hands down the best spot for BBQ in Miami. No question. This has quickly become our favorite restaurant, and honestly, it's hard to miss when the food is that good. We're talking about ridiculous burgers, fall-off-the-bone ribs, wings, and the best cornbread around. It's pure comfort food at its finest. But what makes this place even better is that it never stays the same. Jeff, the owner, is always switching things up, keeping the menu creative, and thinking way outside the box. Every so often they'll host special event nights where they completely flip the script and turn the restaurant into a whole new concept. We went to La Santa Maria event, and it was unreal. They totally changed the vibe of the place, different lighting, more elevated music, the staff acting like it was straight out of a Michelin-star dining room. They even welcomed us with glasses of Prosecco as soon as we walked in. The menu was something else too, smoked pork belly with an Asian glaze, lobster rolls, a steak collaboration with Josh's Premium Meats. Every course felt carefully thought through, and the staff actually explained each dish like you were at a fine dining tasting. It honestly felt like a different restaurant for the night, and that's the kind of creativity that makes Apocalypse special. And it's not just one-off events. Jeff also helps with Lala's Burgers, the smash burger concept out in Lincoln's Beard Brewery, which is another hit. Everything he touches seems to turn to gold. We've been to collabs with Chug's Diner in Coconut Grove, had the Cafectio ribs, Dino Ribs and so many of their rotating menu items, and every single one has been god tier. The only real downside? The wait times. This place gets slammed, whether it was back in their old Rinconcito Latino location by the Killian Golf Course or now at their Kendall diner spot. Sometimes you'll walk in and be told it's hours before you can get a table, and they sell out of food all the time. Show up too late and you might only get burgers and sandwiches because the BBQ's already gone. But honestly, that just proves how good it is. The move here is to go at off-hours, give yourself a time window, and be ready to wait a little. It's worth it. Apocalypse BBQ is the kind of place that leaves you full and done for the rest of the day, but you'll be smiling the whole way home. It's decadent, heavy, creative, and unlike anything else in Miami. My boyfriend has been wanting to try this spot for so long but the wait time is always insane. Luckily when we went (on a Saturday @12pm) there was only a 20 minute wait time. While we waited they did offer complimentary water and light beer which was a really nice touch. Overall I feel like the hype for this place is way too crazy but it is good. My family/friends and I have been visiting Apocalypse BBQ for years since back when they were in their smaller location and have had a wonderful experience each time! Staff as always has been extremely attentive and cheerful, even helped announce a pregnancy for one of our friends which was a beautiful moment. The food itself will always continue to be a hit, no matter which menu item you try. The pulled pork sandwich and Mac & Cheese is a personal favorite. There's something about their barbecue sauce that brings magic to our tastebuds. The best part of their menu though, are the chocolate chip cookies. Impressed! Miami is known for hyped up restaurant with ridiculous wait times but this one is worth it. We came early on a Saturday and only waited about 15 minutes. The staff was kind and was handing out water while we waited. The inside is a converted old diner with a good vibe. The food was incredible. The empanada was one of the tastiest empanadas I've ever had. The brisket, burger, and pork were all incredible. The fries and the sauce were delicious and the coleslaw was one of my favorites. I had the crimson marg sans the crimson but it was delish. Clarified margs are hard so I love that. We ordered both empanadas offered, the corn bread, wings (they were special of day) ribs and elote. The empanadas had good flavor but weren't as crispy as I like and only like warm. The flavor was on point just need more warmth. The corn bread looks great and is tasty but could benefit from a spread was a little dry. Now I'm not a smoked wings person but these were awesome. Crispy, just enough smoke and very hot. Amazing brisket and beef ribs. Great service. The only negative is no reservations and wait time to get in.
