Hey Tim Apple, Tell your door people that the name on a customer's Apple ID does not have to match EXACTLY what's on the DL when signing people in. If the point is to verify people, you can compare credit card number on file, DOB, e-mail, literally 10 other things better than embarrassing people for using a nickname as a courtesy for THEM to not have to say a more difficult name. Stop hiring nuisances OR make your policies better. An extra 2 stars because the service on my MacBook was free. My computer crashed on the upgrade to the new iOS and they helped me get the computer to start up again. The machine has served me well for the last 6 years and I am happy with the product. read more

Awesome security here at Apple. Upon picking up device that had a warranty repair, Apple rep asked for ID. We showed the email that they had just sent notifying of availability, but knowing that iPhone security can't be trusted, rep insisted on ID. This ensured that someone stealing iPhone and breaking the not completely secure iPhone security code couldn't pretend they were the rightful owner. This allowed me to get more steps on my Apple health app and complete my rings! I can't give a higher rating! Security and health! read more

I went in on my lunch break expecting lengthy wait time as many apple stores have long wait times and I was literally in and out within 30 minutes! I came in to buy an iPad as I ordered one online and the carrier was not able to deliver it or allow me to even pick it up. The decision was made today as I waited in the Apple Store. I am leaving all apple products, never to buy them again. Two reasons: 1. My appointment was at 12:45, I arrived on time, but wasn't helped until 1:45pm. That's one hour of waiting for a rather simple issue. And this isn't my first experience waiting exorbitant amounts of time. Apple has fewer and fewer people in the Genius Department, and they're taking worse and worse care of their existing customers... 2. The battery on my Mac Book has been dying randomly. And the battery says 'Service Recommended.' So I took it into the Apple store two months ago, and I was told their diagnostics said my battery was fine, but if I brought my Mac back in a week the status on their end should change... I waited two months, and brought my Mac back to the Apple Store, explaining the issue. My Mac is dying out of the blue, and the battery says it needs to be serviced... But once again, their systems indicated my battery was sill ok, therefore if I wanted to pay them to change the battery, it would cost twice as much then if the battery was showing as 'bad' on their systems. Of course this a way for Apple to make more money, if the battery doesn't read as 'bad' on their end, they can charge you much more for the repair. I explained my situation to the employee, but they said there is no override. Apple has their SYSTEM OVERRIDING HUMANS. They have taken common sense out of their company. To the Escondido Apple store manager, you need to shape up your troops. We went here to get our battery replaced on the Iphone 7 afternoon 12/28/18, asked politely to see if rescheduling to a different time was possible due to dinner plans. Was rudely and arrogantly told, "NO, you had 365 days to schedule it, you didn't and waited until now, NO there are no other times, you are coming at XXX time". Excuse me? Bad day at work? Losing at life? We kept the original appointment and changed dinner plans, but this condescending chap who shall not be named needs to be sent to customer service training... in Siberia. I made the mistake of stating I needed an Apple watch with a feminine band for my gf. The greeter immediately told me no one could help me get it for 5 hours for an appointment even though I knew exactly what I wanted. I asked that many of the employees were talking and laughing with each other and if they could get it from the back since he stated they had plenty in the back. By far the worst Apple Store in all of San Diego, County. Yet it's the only one closest to me. I came here to forfeit my iPad Air 4th generation and already had it completely wiped, no passcode or find my iPad and just needed to get that done. Would take all but 2-3 minutes. Instead I have to wait for a shopping session for 45 minute's for a transaction that would literally take less than 5 minutes. This was the first time I've seen the store not overflowing with people. It was still busy, but not excessively busy. I was quickly approached by an associate, told him what accessory I thought I needed (a new cord- not just a simple USB cord) and off to the accessory wall we went. A 1meter cord was $19.00. No standing on line since all the associates carry these nifty little portable card readers. I paid right there and left. Associate was pleasant and efficient. I bought a new 16" MacBook Pro and upon opening at home it was dirty and had a scuff on the back edge of the screen. So clearly someone had opened the computer before it even got to me. Then it began to have graphics issues and sound within 48 hours of purchasing. Went to this location to pick up my online order so I returned back to this location after talking with a service rep online to exchange the computer. I will say that the first employee was assisting as best as he could however the manager named Ron was terrible! He has the worst customer service and after spending a few thousand dollars for their products I would assume you could actually try to remedy the hardware issues on a brand new computer. He would not exchange it right then and I needed to jump a few more hoops in order for them to correct their own issue. He tried to rush the whole process because they were closing in an hour and he clearly did not want to assist a customer and made it clear he just wanted to make sure he left on time. Went back the next day to fix finally get this replaced and had to wait outside while they have multiple team members standing around inside talking with one another and hanging out including Ron. While I Hope this was a fluke in the Apple product itself I would NOT RECOMMEND going to this store. I understand not all of the employees are rude and unhelpful but when you spend thousands and get an attitude to fix something that isn't your fault I would never go back there. If I could give it 0 stars I would. The staff does not care. Apple is so big that we are just a speck . Our money and time doesn't matter to them . The little people that made Apple big doesn't matter anymore. Apple has found the loop hole with the Apple care plus. They are doing what works for them .I have air pro max headphones that got ran over . I texted apple support . They tell me I can go in store and get replacement ones. With out the hold on my money . I save the text messages. A " manager " says that apple support was wrong . I say that is big mistake I would not have came in person if I had know the Apple support guy was wrong . But no one owns there mistakes . I called Apple support before I left the mall. He helps as best as he could he tells me to go to the store since I'm still there. The Apple employee at the store never closed the close when I left. When I went back in with Apple support on my phone to inform them to close the case which apparently is supposed to happen when you leave the store . One of the employees said why is Apple support telling you to come and talk to us. The guy on the phone said because you people didn't do your job. I could keep going but you get the point . I've tried to give this location several opportunities to change my mind and at this point I truly think it's the culture that the company encourages. All the 'geniuses' and especially the managers are all simply rude, pretentious and unwilling to help. Customers spend hundreds...correction thousands of dollars on these products and when they are not working they are quick to shun people away. It's so disappointing that an emergency first responder can't get a resolution let alone continue to get the run-around about being seen to resolve an issue on a device that in a time like now is more than ever essential. I don't like to depend on technology but it's an essential form of communication for some people's jobs. Made an appointment for a battery replacement at the (North County Mall) checked in and was assisted by Chris. Super quick painless drop off with the usual diagnostic to make sure it was for the battery. It was understood that it would be about a couple hrs of a wait, went to have lunch and shopped a bit and received a text before the estimated time of pickup-yaye! Done Deezy! I had a great experience- just wanted to add that our prior visit Chris also helped my daughter with an an atenna issue and it was also resolved in a timely manner. So fingers crossed if you ever need to have to come to the Genius Bar make an appointment and hope you get him. He is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Weekends are usually super busy so try to be patient especially if you don't have an appointment. Being frustrated brings out the worst in some people and some employees. I believe some of the bad reviews are old and this store has weeded out staff that didn't do Apple justice. I don't understand why people make things up. If you don't know the answer, simply say "I don't know, let me check." I bought an imac pro from an authorized seller and went in to purchase Apple Care. The 30 something year old gentleman told me he can't sell it to me until he "evaluates" my computer. He wanted me to bring in a near $10,000 computer (not a laptop which is easily carried) so that he could "evaluate" it? I told him I had a receipt and serial number and he just said he couldn't. I didn't have time to argue and went home. I later found out you can purchase Apple Care from the site by simply entering your serial number. So I almost damaged, or worse yet, potentially opened up something extremely valuable to theft just because Mr. Powertrip wanted to perform an evaluation. How about management performs an evaluation and anyone caught lying to customers is reprimanded? read more

Booked my appointment on line for the same day that afternoon. I walk up and check in , wait a few and the tech comes out. I explain to him that my son forgot his password on his ipad and hat is locked out. I already tried the recovery mode but after re-booting it prompted the password. He explained my back up program has the password prompt embedded and the only thing we can do is wipe it clean. I was aware of this and said ok lets do it. He hooked it up to his device and in a few minuets we had a brand new ipad. The great part is that he showed me how to get back all the purchased apps and music. This location has been the best I've been to so far. 3 people asked us if we needed anything within the first 5 minutes in the store. They were friendly, asked if we were looking for anything in specific and were easily identified by bright red "Apple" t-shirts. There is a large selection of Apple devices to test out and play with, so it's good for someone that knows what they want, or people that are new to Apple. I was beyond impressed with how efficient they organized the line. The line was moving pretty fast. Safety precautions were in place, temperature checks for every customer, separate lines depending on the customer's needs. I felt very safe since they followed County guidelines for Covid-19. This store is the same as all other Apple Stores but I like the location of it within the mall. There are tons of gadgets and workers. All employees are eager to help out though they don't make a commission. It makes me think when will Apple ever lose its mystique... I swear sometimes they are trying to get me not to come in the store. I usually know more about the product I am there to buy. Genius bar lags about 30 min behind your schedule appointments. And as I found out they can do very few repairs onsite so most of it needs to be shipped out for a week turn around. A little inconvenient when your only laptop is your work laptop. read more

Two thumbs down for my experience at the Via Rancho Parkway Apple location today. I walked my iPad in for the second time in less than a year due to a twisting-like warping from a swollen battery defect. The first time it happened the lead genius made his assessment and informed me that the defect was due to battery swelling. He promptly made arrangements to have the unit replaced and expressly told me to come back if the problem persisted. I considered the encounter far above and beyond what I had expected for customer service. Six-ish months later I noticed the same identical warping on the unit that was sent to me. I did as I was told and walked my iPad back into the same store. Something was different however about the initial associate I encountered as she was almost immediately dismissive about what might be going on. I informed her I had a documented service history in this same store-with the identical problem. She still refused to even consider that it might be the battery that was warping the unit and brought her manager Chris into the conversation. Chris parroted the same mumbled script as his associate and proceeded to unravel a bizarre string theory like justification for not replacing the obviously boomerang shaped iPad. First he tried to discredit the findings of first Lead genius, a person whom he considered to be very consistent and knowledgeable about diagnosing defects. Yup. Bus tossed him. Secondly he attempted to claim that the lead genius the last time went outside of company policy to bend the rules and have my iPad replaced for no particular reason. He said "he did you a favor" cool, never asked for one. Merely asked for a proper diagnosis. In fact the initial associate and the manager Chris both said to me that it was likely the person who assessed my iPad the first time made a mistake and failed to follow protocol by not taking pictures of the unit the first time around. He then walked that back a few minutes later by saying that this very same diagnostician was one of the most professional, competent and consistent employees in the store. Yet he maintained that this individual mis-diagnosed the first defect. Finally he made a claim (with no supporting evidence and against my word that I take immaculate care of my device) that I had placed the iPad in a backpack and roughed it up... and proceeded to categorize this diagnostic under a broad and generalized category they call "physical damage." For anyone that doesn't know... "physical damage" is a corporate stooge vague way to say "the customer did this to their own device--borderline negligence". It could not possibly have been the same defect as what was recorded previously. Even though it had been proven to be the case the last time with this same model. Incredible. Chris' inability to deduce that this identical defect might somehow be connected to the same assessment as the first time I came in, was troubling at the very least and pretty petty if you ask me. Your inability to apply consistent standards to your diagnostic process and willingness to throw the first Apple Genius associate under the bus is why I'm giving you a one star rating and would give you no stars if yelp allowed this. It should make sense that if your team correctly assessed this defect once before and you encountered the exact same defect a second time, that you could have drawn an obvious parallel and that you would have honored your company's commitment to quality products and honest defect warranty guarantees. This is why you have a warranty program in the first place my dude. It's your company acknowledging that these defects are rare, but they happen because they mnfg en mass. And that when they DO they happen, we want to keep your confidence as a consumer. No worries, We'll replace them. We actually PAY for that peace of mind. Instead your insistence that I had done this to my device or that someone broke the rules to get me the first replacement and didn't do their job right was clearly a way for you to avoid holding up your end of the bargain and it was honestly unnecessary. Now I have a device that I cannot guarantee isn't going to blow up or spark a fire one night. I'm always going to be a customer of Apple. I love your products and I'm loyal AF. Maybe don't take advantage of this fact, honor your commitments and your company promises. I hope future customers are treated more consistently. Oh yeah, if anyone's interested... If I could give this place negative stars I would. My experience was much like other people waiting around for several minutes and told to wait my turn on the appointment line even though I already had the AirPods I wanted to buy in my hands. Top it off the two associates I waked to first said they were on break which I can respect. But why just sit in the middle of the store like you're working? Finally when I did get seen the employee I saw told me that the AirPods were sold out along with other products. Why on earth would you put dozens of boxes on shelves of things that are sold out? Very negative experience. My iPad wasn't turning on, I took it over there and they offered to replace it for a refurbished one for 300$ without even trying to identify at the problem. When I asked them to do it, they were very evasive and said that was the only solution. Horrible customer service. Took my iPad to Ji repair in Escondido who fixed it for free. At least there is some honest people who don't try to steal money from you !! read more
