The salads are always fresh, crisp, vibrant, and plentiful as you get a piece of juicy and tender chicken in almost every bite!! We also like the Chicken Wonton Tacos that have a genuine flair, on account of, the distinct hints of ginger, a note of sweetness from its soy, honey, and garlic marinade, and light hints of rice vinegar and cilantro, folded in a crunchy wonton, served with a fun dumpling dipping sauce. Let me start with a positive -- the service. Our waitress was really nice and welcoming, checked on us a few times to make sure we were good. The manager, Kirk, was also friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is pretty normal, nothing special, but everything was clean, which I liked. Now the reason for only 2 stars -- the food. Honestly, it all tasted like frozen food that was just reheated, and not even properly. My mozzarella sticks were completely solid inside, no stretch at all, and just kind of room temperature. Same with my pasta -- I actually had to ask them to heat it up again. My boyfriend's ribs were also barely warm, dry, and tasted like reheated frozen food. I always wondered why Applebees restaurants are closing now I know why. I came to the Applebees in Camarillo and were greeted by the hostess and were seated after a 15 minute wait which was good but once we got seated we sat there for over 30 minutes and no one approached our table to get our order there was several workers including the manager that kept walking by and would only look our way but wouldn't approach. This made it obvious on why these restaurants are closing when not even the manager knows what's going on . We ended up leaving and I still don't think they noticed even though the managers station was right behind us. I'm pretty sure once Texas Roadhouse opens this one is going to close right after. read more

First time going to Applebees...biggest mistake. Kristen was a terrible waiter she didn't put 1 of our 3 meal ticket in. It was a 30 minute wait for the dish. The manager had to run around and bring it to the table. We all had to wait to eat so we ordered more drinks. Only 1 came and it had floating items in it. The 2nd never came. Unfortunately, my experience with the customer service was disappointing. Our server did not bring us any utensils, so we had to ask for them after our food had already arrived. The food was served before our drinks, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. Throughout our meal, the server never came back to check on our table to see if we needed anything or if everything was satisfactory. At the end of our meal, it also took about 30 minutes to receive our check, which was an unnecessarily long wait. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but better communication and attentiveness would have made a significant difference. 3.5 stars rounded to 3 stars instead of 4 stars Brianna was our server. She was great, we just came on a busy day. Looked like a couple of Graduates Celebrating here. But, we didn't wait longer than 20 minutes to get seated. We were patient enough, for the wait, to order, for the food & the bill. It can get loud here. The Chicken Wonton Tacos come with 4 petite tacos. I liked it, just wished it came with more. The Riblets "were okay" according to my +1. The Bourbon Chicken & Shrimp tasted a bit salty for my liking. Idk if it was the chicken or shrimp, but it left a tad of an aftertaste... My +1 helped me finish my food lol. Everything was amazing here. Burger was juicy drinks were delicious and the aroma was peaceful. I have not been to an Applebee's in a while but to return to the service that was given was great. It was nice to have such good service. And the bartender was in training and did everything so well at that. Not to mention on a late night to have a nice calm intimate evening with it being very calming not so loud was nice to be around. This night I have no complaints. read more

My husband and I visited this Applebee's location recently to use a gift card, and unfortunately, the entire experience was frustrating from start to finish. Right off the bat, I asked our server if she could check the balance on our gift card. She told me she had to ask her manager first, which felt strange since that's a pretty standard request. While not a huge deal on its own, it set the tone for a night full of unnecessary complications. We ordered the Pick 3 appetizers with three sauces for around $16. The boneless wings came out with the wrong sauce, the chicken wonton tacos were unexpectedly cold, and only the crispy shrimp were decent. Already, things felt off. Then came the main issue: it took over 30 minutes for our entrees to arrive. We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich, both of which were supposed to come on standard hamburger buns. As the plates were literally being set down, our server casually mentioned that the kitchen had run out of buns and substituted potato bread instead. Why was this not communicated before the food was made? Were we just expected to be okay with it? At that point, I was starving and just said fine, but it really should have been our choice. When I finally took a bite of my Bourbon Swiss Mushroom Burger, I realized it was missing almost everything that makes it that burger. It was just bread, meat, and cheese. No garlic mayo. No sautéed mushrooms. When I asked about the missing toppings, I was first brought A1 sauce instead, which wasn't even what I asked for. Then I was told they were out of the garlic mayo and mushrooms too. Again--why was none of this communicated beforehand? At this point, the server offered to let her manager know we "wanted a discount," which we never asked for, but given everything that had gone wrong, some kind of acknowledgment or fix was absolutely warranted. When the manager came over, he started with, "How are you guys?" as if he had no idea what was happening. I had to explain everything from scratch. While I was talking, he kept leaning closer and closer over the table in a way that felt invasive and extremely uncomfortable. It went beyond normal conversational distance, and I just wanted the interaction to be over. Instead of immediately offering to comp the clearly incorrect meal, he kept asking if he could remake it. I said no. Then he asked if he could get me something else. I said no. He asked again. No. Only after all of that did he finally say he would take my meal off the bill. Why not start there? To be honest, I already wasn't excited about eating at Applebee's. My husband had received a gift card, and I had been dreading using it. My expectations were already low--but somehow, they still managed to disappoint me. Between the lack of communication, incorrect food, missing items, long wait times, and an uncomfortable interaction with management, this was not just a bad meal--it was an unpleasant experience. Great experience! Andrew was our waiter and our experience from the start was exceptional. Drinks were ordered immediately. Food got going and came out quickly. Andrew checked in on us constantly to ensure we were taken care of but not too much to the point where it was over bearing. The food was delicious, had the Asian chicken salad, my niece had a new dish they added to the menu it was lemon chicken parm, with garlic mashed potatoes and she got green beans instead of broccoli. Never been a huge Applebees fan but I wanted to go to try the $1 drink deal. It was very packed but we still were seated rather quickly we got a chicken bacon ranch fries to start but the cheese was half melted and the chicken was good but there was no bacon. We got some drinks and they took the whole entire time we were there to come. We ordered two desserts and they were both really good! The cinnamon buns and the pecan blondie. Before she and I talked about my experience and my son's experience as well, I observed this person that seemed like a manager, and she was super nice with her staff with customers she's had a positive energy about her and like she really cares about customers and staff very professional so when I get the opportunity to talk with her, give her some of my experience feedback Share a little bit more about myself she shared some of her background being on the newer side here at the Camarillo Applebee's, but she has a lot of experience in upper management in the restaurant industry. She's been a business owner. It was a really super pleasant positive conversation talking about my experience there at Applebee's, but also just making a great connection making a new friend Tony Robbins would've been really proud lol Our server that particular day was really nice. Checked on us multiple times in general and for refills.. She's a top tier leadership person, and she really cares. She brings that kind of energy energy and that growth mindset into this Applebee's. You're stereotypical chain restaurant that you'll go to. Used to be a huge hit for my family, but recently has not been cutting it. Waiter took around 15 minutes to take out drink order, 10 minutes to bring us the drink yet forgot the beer. 30minutes after our drinks were given we had to end up getting our beer. Indoor: Has a foul odor inside. Tables were sticky and dirty. Floor area was dirty. Bathrooms were semi decent. 1 hour of our visit 3 tables sat there dirty with no attention Food: Quality was good. This is the second time we've had Lauren as our server. The first time she turned our bad experience here into a positive one. This time, there was no bad experience, just a great time from start to finish. We could not believe that Lauren remembered us from our previous visit, but she did, and even remembered our conversation. I just had one of the strangest and most disappointing dining experiences I've ever encountered. According to the restaurant's website, they open at 11:00 AM. I arrived on time and waited outside for 10 minutes before calling to check if they opened later than advertised. I was told the side door was open--even though I had already tried it and found it locked, just like the main door. Once I finally got in and placed my order, things got even more uncomfortable. Right after I ordered, my server randomly asked if I had children. I found that a bit odd, but I politely said no, not yet. She then asked, "Do you want them?" I replied, "Yes, we do." She followed up with, "Who's we?" I said, "My husband and I." She simply responded with "Oh," and walked away without another word. She dropped off my food and never returned to check in, not once. After waiting about 15 minutes for any kind of service, I finally got up and found her standing at the bar on her cell phone. When I asked to pay, she said she had transferred my table to another server, so he would need to check me out. Strange, but fine. The guy at the bar couldn't locate my table in the system, and it took a manager to sort everything out so I could finally pay, all while my Uber driver was waiting outside for 10 minutes. Wings cold and raw inside, chicken was gristle spongey crunchy texture like it is when it just thawed pretty much. I first overheard a customer behind mention their chicken wasn't cooked right but I never mind things like that. Then I get raw chicken tender in my oriental chicken salad, mind you I'm pregnant as well. I disregard/ spit it out because those types of things happen sometimes and don't bother me much. But then later after I pay already and planned to take my wings to go to enjoy at home I thought about my wings behold my wings were raw too. The purple color of raw chicken still inside, cold to the touch, the juice coming out wasn't right due to rawness, not stringy at all. It was wet and spongy/ gristly texture and gross. I wasn't going to mention still because I hate to complain but the manager stopped by himself and asked how everything was so I decided to let him know that I didn't have a problem but all my chicken I ordered that evening was raw and I figured it was worth mentioning if even the lady behind me got raw chicken as well. Him: "you know it's wing day? So I don't have anymore wings for you" me: "oh? That's alright" him: "you already paid?" Me: "yes because I didn't know my wings were going to be raw until after" him: "well, thanks for letting me know" and walked away without offering any help otherwise implying there's nothing he can do for me pretty much. Made me feel dumb like I should know it's wing day and that's somehow an excuse that I couldn't even get wings right ONCE that day and didn't help/ accommodation otherwise... our server was amazing and she felt terrible. She attended to all our needs mindfully and she was the best part of that whole visit. It's a health violation to be serving everyone raw chicken, it's another to not even want to accommodate or offer to. I used to work at Applebees and have never had or seen at my location such lack of care to fix a big issue. I paid over $80 in total that evening and couldn't eat my share of food.
