    Roach crawling

We decided to try Golden Corral on Father's Day since my husband had never been before, and I hadn't been in about 10 years. The restaurant itself felt a little dated, but the price was very reasonable. I believe it was around $16 per adult (don't quote me on that), and our 2-year-old ate free, which was a nice bonus. There was a huge variety of food, and while nothing really wowed us, everything we tried was decent and there were plenty of options. Unfortunately, our experience took a turn while we were eating. A roach crawled out onto the wall right next to our table. It looked like it had been sprayed or injured because its wings were exposed, but seeing it completely ruined our appetites. My husband and I stopped eating and left shortly after. We enjoyed the value and selection, but cleanliness is a big deal for us, and this experience made it hard to want to come back. I hope management addresses any pest issues because the value is good, but seeing a roach while eating is something that's hard to overlook.

I have been here a few times, and this place has gotten better recently. Especially the salad section, they have more selections than before. like Even if you come with a few friends, the great thing about this place is that there are so many different types of food that everyone can find something they like. And you can even have dessert. The service was good. There are booth and table seats, and the booth seats are spacious and relaxing. Prices are higher on weekends than on weekdays Lots of parking spaces in front of the restaurant.

This place is similar to Hometown Buffet, may its soul rest in peace. We visited on a weekday during lunch. There were plenty of seats and plenty of parking spaces. What I liked: 1. Inside is clean and organized. The utensils are separately packed and placed on your table. 2. Beverages are served by the servers which prevents mess around the soda machines. They serve coffee and tea as well. 3. The bakery is awesome. A good variety of sweets. They also have peach cobbler and ice-cream. 4. Plenty of fried chicken 5. They have onion rings 6. Laid back friendly atmosphere 7. The servers are nice, efficient and accommodating. What is average: 1. Food is average but you get what you pay for. For under $20 dollars you get to eat salad, food and dessert. 2. While the fried chicken is fresh and delicious, other proteins such as the fried fish and steak need help. They only serve popcorn shrimps for lunch. 3. The salad bar was not very attractive. What should improve: 1. In the women's restroom, the floor was sticky. In general, the restrooms could use deep cleaning and regular washing. Will I visit again? Sure, if I find myself in Oxnard again. I wish they could open a couple of branches in SFV. I love American traditional buffets.

The price was a little much especially for lunch on a Wednesday. I think drink should be included! Who doesn't want a drink?? The salad was fresh and good but the ranch ruined it, it tasted like a bottled ranch. The taco meat was so good and seasoned, the fried chicken was nice and seasoned and crispy, the dessert section was massive!

We came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We each ordered a cocktail. She got a blueberry margarita and I got a cucumber gin mixed drink. Both were refreshing and delicious. We ended up ordering another round. For appetizers we ordered the crispy maple Brussels and tuna & salmon tartare. The Brussels were fried to perfection and glazed a sweet maple syrup. It also came with thick cuts of bacon. Definitely recommend this. For the tartare, it was also delicious and fresh. It was mixed with avocado and turnip. We thought the turnip would be off putting but it actually meshed well with the flavors. Came with fried wonton chips. For the main course we shared the NY strip and Lobster Malfaldine. The steak was cooked to perfection with a very nice sear and flavored well. Probably one of the better steaks I've ever had. Definitely beats out any steakhouse steak. The Lobster Malfaldine was also absolutely delicious. Most of the time, lobster pasta is usually a bit bland and lacking in lobster. NOT HERE. They included big chunks of lobster and the sauce was so good. Lastly, we ended our dinner with the Strawberry Hand Pie. This is basically a warm strawberry strudel with vanilla bean ice cream. They used locally sourced strawberries and I'm still thinking about it as I'm writing this review. Adrienne was our server and she was very nice and attentive. Since it was my girlfriend's birthday, they comped our dessert. Super nice staff!

However the quality control & staff members are sadly inconsistent. They are slow to greet slow to check back in (poorly trained). Food often comes out not at the same time so some items are cold while others just arrived (again poor training). At that price point everything should be on point!

I should have made the review before, to remind me that it's not worth it. The service was ok. Our waitress tried her best. She might be better off writing down what people ordered instead of trying to remember things, she missed three things with our party. First, my niece asked, before ordering a pancake combo, if she could get one pancake made with just blueberries and one with just chocolate. Waitress came back and said yes, but that's all she told us.. Second, my wife ordered her corn beef hash with home style potatoes. Instead, the order came to the table with hash browns. I tried her corn beef hash, it was one of the worse ever. Definitely canned stuff, and not made right. It's like someone thought they could make it, so they must went ahead and did it. Third, I ordered a standard burger with onion rings, it came out with fries. For my order, I told the waitress and she got this corrected right away. The burger was just ok. The bun was nice and buttered, brioche. The meat was juicy and cooked medium as requested. It was under-seasoned, but was okay for me as I usually try to get low sodium, but this makes it taste incomplete. Let's talk about my niece's pancakes though, they came out mixed, both blueberries and chocolate in both pancakes instead of two separate pancakes. And when the bill came, I was charged extra charge for each thing. $3 for the chocolate. $3 for the blueberries. Plate came out over $22, that's crazy. Inside is decently clean and large. Lots of space, although maybe it was because we came in a weekday early at 8:45. Anyway, skip it, not worth it. I prefer the local IHOP.

Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.

When our food came out, the amount of chicken on both bowls looked essentially the same. The only noticeable difference was that the chicken on mine appeared to be chopped into smaller pieces, making it look like there was more. I brought it up to our server, who was polite and said she would speak with the manager. The manager, Tyler, then came over and immediately insisted that what I received was the double-chicken portion. Instead of actually listening to the concern or comparing the two bowls, he seemed more interested in arguing with me and proving that he was right. At that point, I decided to send the food back because I wasn't going to pay an additional charge for double chicken when I appeared to have received the same standard portion. The biggest issue wasn't even the food--it was how the situation was handled. Tyler came across as rude, dismissive, and more interested in throwing his authority around than resolving a very simple customer-service issue. A quick comparison of the two identical bowls or an offer to correct the portion would have solved everything. Very disappointing experience and definitely not the level of customer service I expected from Lazy Dog.
