A week after our little experiment at Ninja we find ourselves back in Cedar City. There was now no way I could get out of a trip to Applebees. I see a jalapeno burger on the menu, read through the description. Candied jalapenos??? What the.. ???? I ask our server, Ben and he explains that the jalapenos are candied so it takes off some of the heat. What idiot thought up this idea?? The heat is EXACTLY why I'm ordering a jalapeno burger!!! Ben offers to substitute the real thing and I agree. The burger arrives and it's a bun, a patty, cheese and jalapenos. I explain that when I order a burger I assume it will include those real exotic toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion. Ben apologizes and happily retrieves all the fixins. So after 20 minutes and a total transformation of the horrible burger on the menu I enjoyed a wonderfully spicy burger piled high with all the standard burger happiness. Ben was great and I think he deserves a five star rating and a promotion for dealing with me. But why did it take 20 minutes of my harassing for Applebees to come up with a delicious burger when they had all the ingredients right in front of them? Ben you rock. Applebees you suck. read more

Lesley is hands down the best bartender in Cedar City. Food was always prepared flawlessly and brought out in a timely manner.

Applebee's and MAJOR chain restaurants are not really my go-tos, but on our travels back from Zion Nat'l Park to Salt Lake, this was a good option, though I never realized how quickly the food can add up! Our server was super quirky, sweet, and fun. It pains me that I don't remember her name! This is one of the reasons why I rated a 4 opposed to my initial three - customer service will do the trick! Plus the fact we were ID'd twice, but our server and her higher up, was a plus since they are very cautious, plus Utah's liquor laws are a tad overboard. We ordered 2 entree, a couple Dollaritas and a dessert. My entree was the half-rack ribs with Mac-n-cheese and asparagus. The asparagus was probably my favorite part, though it was not something you write home about. The Mac-n-cheese was a bit dry, still edible, but the cheese was not melty at all. Seemed like it was sitting out for some time. The ribs had a good taste due to the sauce, but it did not fall of the bone and there were several pieces of cartilage. I ate it all since I was starving. The dessert was a basic molten lava cake with ice cream. VERY hot, but we enjoyed it. Applebees is more-so a place to just relax, socialize, and have a few drinks. My husband and I went for a quick date dinner last night. We've never gone to Applebees so we thought we would try it. Our server meet us with a smile almost ten minutes after being seated. She quickly apologized. We got the 2 for $25 special that came with an appetizer. After 9pm appetizer ate half off so we offered the honey bbq wings and mozzarella sticks. My husband ordered the baby back ribs and I the bourbon chicken with shrimp. We also got two virgin pina coladas. First, the pina colada (which is my favorite drink) may have been the worst I've had by far. The presentation was non existent. The mixture was not mixed to the point it was liquidy. Our appetizers came after our meal in which both Jisey our server and the manager apologized. The manager took the appetizers off our bill and an additional $5 off our 2 for $25 special. So we appreciated that. Now to the food. My husband ribs were dry and required done work to separate the ribs... So they were not cooked to the point they were tender enough to fall off the bone. My chicken was moist which is a plus but my potatoes wedges a bit mushy. I was not impressed with the appetizers. Usually I'm all in and can eat my share, but the mozzarella sticks were cold, the bbq wings... I'm really not sure how to describe it but it wasn't great. All in all, the food was mediocre. Josey, our server seemed to be trying her best with what she had to work with. I may have been in a more understanding mood as I was not annoyed or irritated at the quality of the food. I don't know how this place gets three stars. Long day on the road and beer, wine and appetizers were just what the doctor ordered. Super great service and friendly staff with no waiting. Sports on the tube while we waited shortly for our food. Hubby and I shared the appetizer combo of three appetizers and made the mistake of not ordering a 4th at the time because you can't add on after your orders been placed so we had to pay the full price for it, but not the end of the world. Spinach dip is really awesome, wonton chicken tacos are quite spicy and delicious, festive buffalo chicken wings were take it or leave it, and the fried pretzel sticks with beer cheese dip disappeared. From AZ. Went here last night because normally I can trust an applebees to be at least decent. Sat at the bar. The bartender was nice, but it was only 10:30 pm (the place closed at midnight) and she was already cleaning out the bar. I got a bourbon chicken meal, but when it came out it had absolutely no sauce on it (in the pictures it looks like a gallon of sauce on there) and it looked like someone had spilled the seasoning shaker on one spot of the chicken. Also the meal didn't come with rice, but there was dried up rice on my plate. Turns out hey gave me a dirty plate someone else had ate rice on. Totally grossed me out. read more

Shouldn't even be giving this one star. Went in with no one in the restaurant, was seated and never got any menus and no waiter came to our table to offer us any drinks. We sat for 10 minutes while the waiters and manager congregated by the bar all talking. The host seated another family after us and still no service for us. We got up and left after 10 minutes. Not a big fan of Applebee's, want to be honest. Pre-packaged food cooked in a convection oven can only be so good, but usually if you want a drink they have a decent bar. Sat in the bar for over 15 minutes before a waitress could find a minute to ask if I wanted to order. Ordered a double Jameson. Was told they don't do doubles, okay then a single on the rocks. Was told they don't have Jameson (can see the bottle on the bar). Okay, what's on draft, selected a Angry Orchard Hard Cider, gets delivered in a bottle. :/ Can I have a menu? Get one 10 minutes later, ordered the 8oz Sirloin with hearty grains and rice, broccoli. Get grilled chicken, red potato's - but to be fair they got the broccoli right. I NEVER send anything back (especially when I am getting service like this, don't want it bounced on the floor before I see it again), so made do. Wasn't bad, but I literally got nothing I ordered. Big disappointment on many fronts. Management - Numerous food items not available once ordered and other items shown as "retired" on the menu.....really? People go to a chain restaurant for consistency often with a menu item already in mind. Regardless, to have the waiter come back twice with news we had to order is a reflection of poor management. Graduation weekend.....Friday night.....???? After the waiter checked my son's ID for his drink order, he was told to leave it out so Management could double check it. Really? Corporate - photos shown in the menus are not a reflection of what shows up. Case in point, order the House Steak. Did I mention the upselling on the steak for additional cost? If the photo reflects the upsell steak, then the menu should reflect the up sell price too. We bought the 2 for $25 so the photo reflected can be confirmed. By the way, don't spill a drink, even if it has just arrived at the table.....you will get charged for it. The service was great and on point. However, the food was terrible. My riblet platter was luke warm when served. I sent it back and it did come back hot but the riblets were like rubber. Overall: Poor service, bad food, but with clean and casual dining. The atmosphere of this place isn't bad, its Applebee's. The decor is lame, local sports gear from the high schools, but what about the local university (SUU)...where is the decor for that? It would be WAY cooler than broken equipment from the high school. Ate there for dinner the other night and was not impressed. The steak was ordered med-rare and came out grey in the middle, the mashed potatoes were cold and the broccoli was damn near raw. I live in cedar city and have eaten at Applebee's several times. I have only had a bad service 1 time right after they opened. But since then it's been some of the best service in cedar city. No the food is a different subject all on its own. In January I ordered a 2 for 20 to go. I only live 5 min from Applebee's I showed up and the kid told me it was just coming out of the kitchen I waited another 5-1o min and got my food and drove the 5 minutes to my house. The food was cold and the queso cheese sauce was curdled. I called the manager and explained he apologized and gave me a free meal for my next visit. I ordered last night the same thing now I live about 10 min from Applebee's so I know to arrive early to to get my food hot. I got home and again the sane type of thing the fries were not hot and wilty, the ribs seemed to have come out of a frig. And was heated up on the grill. The bones were still cold. So if you do try Applebee's in cedar city, maker sure your food is cooked correctly. Oh I ended up going to a fast food place instead. read more

We have been here 3 times hoping it would actually get better. It has not. The service is slow. The food is very poor. We have always liked this restaurant except here. The great inquisition about what you are going to drink starts as soon as the waiter finally makes it to the table. Had we not been sitting at a table for dinner I may have understood, all three times, that I must order food if I was going to have alcohol. The problem was that some of my food portion was missing and I notified them and they said it was out of stock.
