Three years later, Apt 503 is still one of my favorite places to turn one loose or shake a tailfeather (do people still say that?) on Friday or Saturday night. I actually came here last year for their New Years' Eve celebration and a few times before and had a blast each time. First off, Guest List is mandatory here, if you're not on Guest List, don't even bother trying. Think of going to Apt 503 as going to your friend's house, do you just show up unannounced at their door demanding to get in to their party? Of course not, you are a considerate person and let them know beforehand. In that vain, getting on Guest List is super simple: Send your names and contact info to info@apt503.com and get to the door by 10:30PM. No fuss, no drama. Again, if your friend is having a party that starts at 10:30PM, is it cool to roll in at midnight? The decor of this spot is really something else, the art on the walls are super instagrammable, and they just put in this cool 3D projection thing that you really have to see in person to appreciate. Music is also really good, you'll get a great mix of R&B & Hip Hop, along with occasional top 40 & EDM, it's something for everyone. Drinks are a little on the pricy end, so if you're planning on tying one on, it might make more sense to pop a bottle so you can have somewhere to sit. The cool part about getting a table is that you can also order food, and nothing beats a mini cheese burger and fries when you've got that buzz going. I'm no longer clubbing as much in my old age, but when that itch calls, Apt 503 is still the #1 spot in Ktown to scratch it. Oh and also, for last years New Years' Eve party, they ordered like a hundred pizzas for everyone there right as the clock hit midnight, which was awesome. Not normally open on Wednesday nights but we are here for a Spring Fling. Yogurtland Wilshire & Vermont is here along with skewers from Kaya Street Kitchen and boba drinks from Cafe 70 Degrees. For alcoholic drinks, one blue ticket will get you "any-ting you want". There was only one restriction, top shelf was off limits. A place that has a drink called Dragon's Breath is what I would like to order. You should see my video on how the drink is finished with such fiery presentation. Group pictures are great but we have to take a few pictures with Share a Moment Photo Booth. I wasn't too much for skin care from Stacy's Rodan + Fields Skincare as much as the ladies were loving the products offered. It's a small place and the bartenders sure know how to make a strong drink drinkable. You don't have to sneak up on it like at other places with special events. That's always awesome in my book. Whoa?! I really like the vibe of this place and it sort of reminds me of Line Hotel without the fuss of struggling to find parking. Though the venue might be a tad small, it's super unique and the walls are nicely decorated which is so picture worthy. The dress code isn't too strict either but definitely dress to impress if you want to post pictures :) It was hard to find at first because the building is hidden so look for Aroma Golf Course on the fifth floor and you'll find this place. They offer an underground parking structure with validation for $2 only - all day! There's also an outdoor section that may need a little more work in terms of brushing up the appearance and offering more seating area but overall, it's worthy of stopping by to check it out. Their libations/concoctions were super tasty too. I forget what I ordered but I was happy with what I got. Hooray! I had such an awesome evening here with the people I was with. They play r&b, hip hop and music from the 90s which was a huge plus because most places don't anymore. I swear everywhere you go it's pretty much EDM or some type of electro stuff. Awesome hang out spot for the evening! I first came here for the NYE party. I threw the idea out to friends and we reserved for table service to ensure a good time without having to wait at the bar to get served. My cousin also got a table with her friends, so it turned out great to have some friends and family to ring in the new year. Decor is on point! Very Instagram worthy. All white wall with "comic book" like hand drawings, pop-up like backdrops, letter magnets, and cool lighting for special effect. Neat and open patio area for some fresh air, but crowded by the bad habits of smokers. Great mixologist serving some signature drinks. Like any lounge/club when it gets busy, always tough to grab a drink at the bar. NOTE: if you just want beer, make sure to go to the main room bar, (2 bars), the smaller bar doesn't carry it. Restroom line can get long, veryyyy long, for they only have one stall. Be sure to grab a wristband with the security, you can leave the bar to the down stairs restrooms. About 7 table locations for bottle service if you're interested. The price is decent if you have a party of 6 or more. Music is Awesome! You can't find clubs with good hip hop and R&B you grew up listening to these days. Dresscode strictly enforced. Bottle service or not, you gotta look good for a fun night out. I really like the fact that Apt 503 is tucked haphazardly among many other suites, offices and retail spaces. My out of town friends thought they were heading to someone's residence. (I wonder what went through their mind from the moment the GPS announced of their arrival to showing their passports at the lift lobby. Were they expecting rainbows from the sprinklers and found themselves surrounded by beautiful people on the dance floor?) The floor plan stretches across the foyer, greeted immediately by the bar on the right and into the entertainment room with DJ. Get your camera phone ready as you stroll along the passage way at the bay window. I love taking pictures with those art installation. The backdrop, although not as astonishing as DTLA, it subtlety hints where you are. We tried to keep our face straight as we watched the bar lady decorating a non-alcohol drink with flowers. We didn't tell her it was for our pilot friend who needs to crack the sky 2 days later. He took a big sip and had no idea why all ladies are cracking up. I've been to APT503 a few times now and I must say, it's one of my new favorite spots. Don't believe all the other reviews on Yelp about how the place sucks; they're all written by bitter people who 1) couldn't get in because they didn't follow the dress code or 2) don't understand what the place is all about. The space was created to promote a "roommate" vibe, where everyone there is separated only by a degree or two. Or three. This is why it's guestlist-only. I think the owner wanted the place to be like 'Cheers,' where everybody knows your name. Sorta. And don't let the guestlist-only thing scare you away; it's not difficult to get on the list. Just contact APT503 to add you to the guestlist for whichever day you want to attend. They're really cool about it. Besides, the only way you would've even heard about APT503 is from someone that has already been there anyways. They're really not trying to be super exclusive or like other schmancy clubs even though it may seem like it. They're just trying to cater to a very specific crowd, which most people don't seem to understand. When I say 'specific crowd,' I don't mean random old rich dudes that want to meet young, impressionable hot chicks barely out of college. They won't let you in just because you have $$$. I'm talking about people that are in their mid-20's to mid-30's (and maybe a little older) that are looking for a chill place to hang out on a Thurs/Fri/Sat, where they can be surrounded by familiar faces and awesome 90's jams. Besides, the place isn't a club. It's more of a lounge w/ an open space that drunk people often mistake for a dance floor. Haha. When you go to clubs/lounges/bars, don't you hate it when it gets too crowded and it takes forever to order a drink? That's what APT503 is trying to avoid. They may or may not let you in quickly (later on in the evening) due to 'overcrowding-prevention' reasons because they don't want the people already inside to have a bad experience w/ overcrowding and long lines. So do yourself a favor and arrive early! Regarding the dress code, they're just trying to promote a nice and classy vibe. What's wrong w/ that? A little effort goes a long way. Besides, we're not bummy teenagers anymore; we're young professionals! Here is the dress code, which I don't think is asking a lot: no caps, no athletic wear, no t-shirts with logos, and no worn sneakers (fashionable sneakers are fine). As for the bathrooms, yes it's annoying that there are only single-stalls available inside APT503, but there are bathrooms right outside too if you don't want to wait. No big deal. Lastly, I want to mention the decor. Simply amazing! The whole place looks like it's hand-drawn. Super creative space, so huge props to the owner for hiring the talented artist that made the whole place look as cool as it does. I salute you! There are a ton of picture-worthy spots throughout the whole "apartment," so make sure you check everything out. Such a really cute lounge for drinks and dirty dancing if you're in that kinda mood :) I really liked the layout of Apt 503. It's on the corner of the 5th floor and feels like you're walking into someone's really nice penthouse. There's also so many cute photo opportunities everywhere that you go. The crowd seems between late 20's to mid 30's. The dj was playing music from the 90's when R.B was golden, which I was getting flashbacks of my early High School days. When we went it was invite only, so not sure when they will be open to the public but I'm sure you can just email them to get on their guest list. I will definitely come back w/ my girls next time and have a round of drinks and gawk at all the pretty people :) read more

this place is SO CUTE! Leave it to Koreatown to have such a creative idea for a lounge club thing. Basically it's the comfort of a house party blended with the need to go out and get dressed up. IT TOOK ME A COOL MINUTE (hour) to realize why it's called APT 503. I don't know if it was the excitement of going out to a new place, the cute decor, or the alc or a combination of it all. I did not like this place. Walking in the creative wall projector is a cute touch but a couple hours in a couple things set in: - awful sound system, super loud but not good - silent disco is just a weird addition not to mention the fact that those headphones are awful quality and the sound from the other area bleeds in - decor in the silent disco area did not even make any sense, just a weird vibe it never really 'warmed up' just an awkward mix of people. by far the worst part of the experience & what warrants this place a 1/5: there are no high end tables outside or in most of the place (i didn't see any but maybe there is at least one) to set drinks on, my friend put hers on the floor and i was walking outside and knocked it over - my bad, i knock over a very small glass drink with a bunch of ice made with the cheapest tequila and mixer, so i take it back and tell the bartender my situation, considering the fact that we brought 8-9 people in who are buying drinks, headphones, etc. the response was so absolutely rude: "oh so you're basically asking for a free drink? no i'm not gonna give you a free drink" maybe i'm unfamiliar with garbage spots like this because i well, don't go to them, and am used to something called hospitality but i cut her off and ended up shelling out another $11 for a garbage ass drink. a garbage ass drink that's at least 50% ice, and then tito's and cranberry juice. really? will never be back. This review is way overdue. I came here in June with about 15 other ladies to celebrate a friend getting married. Kinda like a mini bachelorette part 2! I contacted them via fb message a couple weeks prior to make the reservation. They were very quick to respond. No deposit needed, just the names for the guest list. We reserved a table and ended up getting 2 bottles of Jameson ($360 per bottle + tip) which also came with an appetizer sampler platter of finger foods (sliders, etc). Went to Apt 503 yesterday for my friend's birthday! We all had a blast! We got a table by the dj which was pretty awesome because we got to see him spin. I honestly don't know why there are so many negative comments.. The concept is pretty cool! I loved the decor and how everything looks 2D. It seriously looks like you're actually in an apartment. The DJ spinning is a really pretty and young upcoming dj by the name of Celinerrr. She played all good music from throwback 90s and 200s r&b and hip hop to present. She most definitely kept the crowd going from beginning to end, with never a dull moment in between her set. I found her soundcloud! It's CELINERRR. Her mixes are there for you to preview! This lounge is definitely the newest and hottest spot to come with either just a friend, or all your friends. There's so much to enjoy here. You have innovation and creativity at play here with all the cool pop and wall art, urban decor, and really good looking people. The lounge is also on the top floor of the building so you get a beautiful view of KTown while dancing the night away. The crowd is well rounded with an attractive age group of 20s-30s. The attire is definitely trendy casual. The spot is screaming Instagram/snapchat/selfie worthy. Lastly, the bartenders were impressive. Coming from someone who worked in the food industry, I noticed very quickly that the bar where my boyfriend and friends and me were ordering had at most 2 bartenders. We came in on a Sat, 1/23, and the place was packed. The bar was flooded with thirsty people ordering complicated drinks, and my boyfriend and I waited calmly for them to take our orders because we were ordering a couple round of tequila shots, and then a number of mixed drinks. Mind you, the place is brand new and they are still improving, as any place that just opened. These bartenders at APT 503 kept their sh*t together because they made those drinks with a smile on their face that hid really well any signs of anxiousness. This place has the weirdest rules. Came here with a group for a friend's birthday who had a table. We followed all the rules they gave us: we got on the guest list, got there on time, and was properly dressed. However, once we got to the front of the line, we were not allowed in because there "was not enough girls in our group." I understand not being able to get into a club with not enough girls, but we were on the list AND we were going in as part of a party who got a table. We literally had to wait an hour till there were more girls in the venue before we were able to get in! Also, didn't get too much service for the table, but it is pretty common with my experience with tables in K-town. Besides the really dumb UNWRITTEN rule, we had a good time. Of the few times I've been here the vibes always different. From high energy to chill old school R&B moments, this place has become the last and only stop we make on our weekend nights. I cant speak highly enough to the amazing DJs that come out and play here, hopefully you guys get a chance to read this! Hanging out and just lounging.. meeting new people at the patio. I mentioned this is the always the last stop for our group because once we come in we never stop to look at the time or feel the need to make our way to any other bar. Bulletpoints: Park in the garage, get it validated with the host for $2.50 parking. But the bartenders are so good you should probably lyft/uber. RSVP, this is important. Some people call it a guestlist but there's no cover charge. It's like making a reservation to a restaurant. Sometimes they're booked, sometimes they're not. Unfortunately, by no means is this place huge and they do hit their capacity. According to the workers there, they set their own limit on guests at a time so the bars are never too crowded and you can always move around. I totally agree with this concept. This place gets major points for how it's decorated, it's not like the average nightclub. It really does feel like you're inside a large apartment with a bar and patio, it's really nice. I liked it here, good music, the bottle service comes with food and the food doesn't suck, nice staff. The bar, however, was a little strange. The selection is pretty sparse, the only beer is by the bottle and they lack a lot of mixers to make cocktails. They couldn't make a tequila sunrise (?? easy drink to make), so the bar made something REALLY good instead but for $13 it would be nice to have more than 5 sips before it's gone. Their ice cubes are gigantic, but the cocktail glasses are not. Also, they can't keep tabs for some reason, so you have to pay for every drink individually. So bizarre. As soon as we approach the girls we receive attitude and side eye glances. I was with two other girls and one other guy, all of us were dressed well and didn't do anything to warrant their rude demeanor. After asking us "who we know", they deliberated among themselves (over nothing) and one of them says we can get in but I can't wear my hoodie. I was wearing a cropped hoodie with a blazer over it, shorts and booties. I really didn't understand what was wrong with my outfit as it was trendy and cute, but I took off my hoodie anyway to comply with their "guidelines". I put it in my friend's purse but they still wouldn't let me in unless I left the hoodie outside (which they also mentioned that they will not be held accountable for. At this point they were just POWER TRIPPN or they just like to waste not only our time but theirs by playin all these games. If you didn't want us to come in, just say so from the start and we would have just walked away and gone somewhere else, NO PROBLEM. JEEZ. Kind of underwhelming. I expected more out of it based on what I saw in photos. -Cool high up space with a nice view, but I didn't think the space itself was that interesting, just cute. Maybe there's something I missed. -Drinks were fine. -I actually loved whatever DJ they had there and his choices, wish the people in the room were more into it that night. Energy was dead compared to how fun the music was that night. Felt awkward. May come back again, may not. Would be curious to see how it is on a different day possibly. read more

My friend Katie M. was in town last month, and we had dinner, along with Matt B., in Koreatown. It was a Friday night, so we wanted to go somewhere afterwards to get drinks, and Apt. 503 was the closest option. Matt and I like trying new bars, especially in our neighborhood, and since we hadn't been here before, we decided to head over, at around 9:30. Apt. 503 is on the fifth floor of the Aroma building on Wilshire, a max Korean commercial building that features a Korean spa and several of those random Koreatown stall shops selling like car fresheners and patterned blankets. We entered the building through a ghost town of a second-tier plaza-style shopping center after hours, and made our way to the fifth floor, where a sign indicated Apt. 503 to one side, and the rooftop driving range to the other. Incidentally, who but profit-maximizing Koreans puts a driving range on the roof of a building? As it turned out, Apt. 503 was an entirely different kind of bar from what we're used to these days (we're married people in our 30s), and from what we might have expected given that less-than-grand road to entry. Once we found our way off the elevator, we ran right into a stern, sharply dressed woman and a couple of big bouncers holding court behind ropes. There was no line--like not one person trying to get in who was not us--but when we reached them, the woman asked rather pointedly whether we had made reservations. We had not, and she tut-tutted a bit before saying she would make an exception for that night only, because it was Coachella weekend. Katie and I showed our IDs and walked in, but Matt lagged behind us. When he got in a couple minutes later, he said he'd been patted down. It was all very serious. Very serious indeed. Hilariously, the bar was completely empty. Like I was almost embarrassed for the security team and their super precious exclusivity act. There was music pumping, and the lights were low, but we were almost the only people there. I actually like empty bars when they're quiet and low key, but this was not a bar that felt right without people--it felt dead, a party without guests, the guests having all gone to Coachella. Still, we'd already obtained the privilege of entry, so we ordered drinks and wandered around. The space was well done, basically as cute as it could've been given that it was a unit on the fifth floor of an unfashionable commercial building. There was a trompe l'oeil theme to the decor, with the walls painted in coloring book black and white to mimic cute sitting rooms with ornate picture frames and striped wallpaper. The actual furniture echoed this theme, and the whole space felt like a fun little play house, 100% designed for social media purposes. The bar consisted of two large rooms and a semi-covered rooftop patio, for air and smokes. This was also cute, though somewhat strange, kind of this fake courtyard enclosed with cheap-looking wood-like facades, lit with string lights. As you might have gathered by now, Apt. 503 has nightclub aspirations, which means it isn't the place to get craft cocktails and interesting beers. There was a cocktail menu, so we tried one round, with mixed results (no pun intended). The Up in Smoke was probably the best one, a reasonably tasty sweet and spicy drink with tequila, St. Germaine, lime, hibiscus syrup, watermelon, and serrano chile. The West Indies was kind of thin and overly sweet but with an odd medicinal taste, made with rum, Luxardo, pineapple, lemon, simple syrup, and bitters. The White Rabbit had gin, lime, elderflower foam, and simple syrup, also quite sweet. To be fair, we weren't expecting mixology greatness--the one whiskey drink on the menu had Fireball in it. After this round, we switched to quicker fare. Katie and I had a couple whiskey gingers each; Matt had a bottle of Heineken or something like Heineken, the only beer they had on offer at the time. We didn't have other plans, so we stayed for a while, never moving from our perch on a comfortable bench with a table for our drinks. To be fair to Apt. 503 and its team of bouncers, the place did fill up a bit as the night went on. Once the crowd came in, everything clicked together. There were tons of Asian girls in their early twenties in short, tight dresses and high, high heels--they looked like me and my girlfriends ten years ago, when we were going out to Le Cercle every weekend, and I felt a lot of tenderness for them all. I was very out of place in jeans and Birkenstocks--in retrospect, the Lady of the List must have been horrified to have to stoop so low as to take my money. I'm glad we visited Apt. 503 to satisfy our curiosity, but I doubt we'll be coming back in this lifetime. That said, it seems like a fun place to go drinking and dancing when you're young and single and want to post cute selfies on various apps. You kids stay safe and have fun. read more

Super cute spot for a girls night out or get together with your friends! The only downside to this place is that you have to be on their guest list and the guy to girl ratio has to be at most 1:1. If you have more guys, then you're out of luck :/ You email them to get on the guest list and they are very quick to respond! ALSO, finding this place is kinda tricky because it's located behind this ktown building and you have to walk around for a while to find it. Don't try to go inside the building (looked like a bank and offices or something) that most ubers will drop you off at. All of us liked that the DJ played mostly hip hop music instead of the usual EDM at most other lounges so you can really get down and ratchet with your friends lol Drink prices are standard for LA and they make a pretty good mule here for around $10-12 if I remember right! If you get table service, it comes with bottles and a tower of appetizers. And of course the decor is really iconic and instagram-worthy. Thanks to the guest list the place doesn't get overcrowded and they also have an outside patio which is nice if you want to take a break and get some air during the night. Happy hour doesn't get better than this! The quality of food and flavor far exceeds the prices! This is the softest banh mi sliders I've ever had. For $5, it's the deal of the century! (IMO) The $6 specialty happy hour drinks are just as delicious. Jimmy gave us the best treatment I've ever had. Service is top notch here! I wanted to celebrate my birthday at this venue until I received email responses that blatantly discriminated against gender and age. They continuously ask for each member of your party to arrive at a certain time, paired up even guy/girl ratio. How is this possible when people arrive at separate times? They had also asked what the average age group of my party consisted of. WHY?! Isn't this place 21+? When they realized that our average age was over 25, they decided that they couldn't accommodate us unless the guys bought a bottle and the girls all got there right when they opened. I've never heard of a business want to turn away a group of 40 because there were 4 more guys than girls. Or maybe it was the fact that our unpaired guys were two gay couples. They're so worried about appearance, maybe they discriminate against everyone. Never coming here again. See photos. Scott, First of all there was no price listing given to me. I did not back out of my reservation because of that. I backed out because of how poorly you guys run your establishment. If you're so tired of hearing "discriminating" maybe you should do something about it. Second of all you need to be more professional with your responses, insulting people who review negatively does not give you any right to insult them hence "if you were smart enough" yes I was smart enough to take my party to a different venue. On January 07,2017 an employee hit my head with the countertop door trying to enter the bar. The impact was so bad I could not even process what had just happened. Dizzy, I keeled against a wall holding my head to trying to calm down. What did the employees do? Nothing. The one who hit me avoided me, while another employee just started yelling at him. Finally, one of my friends was enraged at the lack of attention and demanded that I receive a proper apology, the guy comes back (scared) and says sorry. While I was talking to him his co-workers started yelling at him again, saying that he was needed in the back. What the hell!? To be safe, I went to the hospital for a check up couple days later. This is the club's responsibility so I decided to call them that they needed to pay for the fee. No one picks up. My friend and I called over and over, nothing. No one picked up. This club has no official website or email and NEVER, coincidentally, pick up their phone. Oh, forgot to mention another thing: They do NOT have an answering machine so it is impossible to leave a message. Can't believe they did not care, they just passed on by as if nothing happened. They did not offer ice or anything until my friend asked for it. I was only in the club for less than an hour and this happens. So yeah, if their employees hurt you, just know that they don't care for you. They won't even bat an eye at you. Just beware on how these people 'care' for their customers. Pretty cool spot in Koreatown. I've been here twice and both times were really fun. However, the 2 times that I have been here weren't like super crowded so I don't know how it is when there is a lot a lot of people. The music that's played when I've gone is hip-hop and around that genre. The inside is really cute with cute decor. There is also an outside patio where you can chill and dance if you don't want to be inside. The restroom is only one per gender but there is a restroom located outside that you are able to go with more stalls. The only drinks I've had here is Black Dahlia and Dragon's Breathe (I think that's the name). The black dahlia is really good! But the dragon's breathe was not good imo but only because there is fireball I think in there and I do not like that. They do light it on fire while they make it though so that's pretty cool! There is a parking structure and when you validate its $2 only! So make sure to validate your parking ticket from Apt 503 if you go! read more

Visited APT 503 last night and it was amazing!! This place is a well-oiled machine and here's why: 1. I forgot to reserve a table for my friend's birthday (as I promised my friend I would a month ago), but APT 503 worked with me to accommodate my late request. 2. Because I had mentioned that we were celebrating my friend's bday, the manager went above and beyond and helped me plan the surprise cake/bday singing. Not only did the employees store the cake and bring it out, but they also gave my friend a "birthday diva" sash! Thanks so much to Jimmie and the team. 3. They were having a BushMill special outside aka free whiskey shots! 4. The DJ's playlist was on point!! Danced the night away! Admittedly, the crowd is of a younger age, but who cares when the music and drinks are great! Also- brownie points for convenient and cheap parking. read more
