Have been here for both lunch and dinner. Food is really good but a bit over priced and this coming from a new yorker who travels a lot and stays mostly at Westin Hotels. The location is convenient. Had the lobster bisque very good and the shrimp also good. The decor is cool, at night neon lights glow the booths and the bar is big. Service is good, better than I would have expected. I will be back to this hotel in the next coming months and will eat here again. read more

I can't believe this restaurant has more than 1 or 2 stars. Had a few bites of the lobster bisque.... worst I've had. I ordered the chopped salad with chicken for an entree. I guess green part of the salad was ok but that's about as good as it gets . The rest of our party had the same experience. My boyfriend came here for Valentine's Day, so this review might not be the most accurate review for regular nights. First of all, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. I absolutely love the ambiance and the wait staff was very attentive. We had their four course meal with the champagne toast. We started with the ahi tuna, the key west shrimp bisque. I have never had any sort of bisque before, but it was really tasty. It was creamy with mini key west shrimp and had the essence of pistachio... It just really worked. My main course was the grouper. The fish was absolutely amazing, of course very fresh. The only thing I would have changed was the breaking. I liked the consistency but it was a tad too salty for my taste. My boyfriend had the filet mignon which he devoured. We finished with their fruit jello thing (forgot what it was called) and the chocolate cake. The fruit jello was okay but the cake was soooo good! So I ordered the 'lure' roll which is crab and avocado flash fried. I Was very excited since based on ambiance, I was in for a solid sushi experience, right?! Wrong. When it arrived I could smell the age of the oil it was fried in. Imagine biting into an oatmeal/cream cheese roll fried at KFC and you will be close to my experience. There was .05% crab and even less avocado. The rice was overcooked. It was a mushy mess. The bigger problem is, as I sat at the bar, three other people sent their food back. The bar staff spent a lot of time apologizing. I hope they have standard issue knee pads . That is a first for me. So much potential but it is clear the kitchen does not take pride in their food. Bad night, maybe but I have seen this scenario at restaurants before and within 12 months they are closed. For $40, I'd rather hit 5 guys for 1/5 the price and 5 times the satisfaction. I've given Aqua many tries to win me over but have been let down too many times. The location is great but this place just misses the mark over and over. Tonight I had the lobster bisque which was too salty--which for me is very rare as I'm always the person adding salt. I would rate it a 2.5 out of 10. I also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which was very bland, very little lobster and the scallions overpowered the entire dish. I would rate it 2 out of 10. On a positive note my friend ordered sushi and she enjoyed it. UPDATE: I did go back and try the lobster bisque and it was much improved. I've also tried out their buffet on the weekend mornings and it's fantastic....I highly recommend trying the breakfast! The dinner experience is still hit or miss unfortunately.... read more

We were looking for a dog friendly restaurant and found a gem at Aqua. Wonderful seafood, sushi and a beautiful outdoor patio on a cove of Tampa Bay. Relaxing with very nice and friendly wait staff. They recently hired the fabulous manager from Ulele, Steven, and it will continue to get better. Dinner inside is lively and quiet. Tables outside are nicely spaced apart and there are couches for lounging and having a cocktail. We highly recommend Aqua. read more

Great open feel. Plenty windows to view the water. Calamari were authentic with tentacles. Steak was perfectly cooked.

The service was awful. The waitress was rude and we had to wait for an extremely long time for our food, which was average, even though the restaurant was about half empty. And they overcharged us to boot. read more

My family had dinner at Aqua this weekend and the items we ordered were hit or miss. The Lamb Lollies appetizer was amazing, but the Coconut Curry Scallops were too salty and lacked curry seasoning. My husband ordered the Grouper and was more impressed with the side of Thai noodles than the Grouper itself. My daughter, who is 6, asked for a second helping of Parmesan cheese and we were told we would have to pay a surcharge fee because "cheese is expensive." We were horrified and insulted by this; it turns out the new rule came from a substitute chef named Brett. The manager and waiter were very apologetic. We then found a Chore Boy in my daughter's pasta, which pretty much ruined any good feelings about Aqua. read more

My husband and I were staying at The Westin because I had surgery next door at the Laser Spine Clinic. We decided to have dinner at The Aqua because it was close. OMG!!! The food was delicious. The service was great. We ate there both nights. We had stuffed flounder with crab and a salmon dish that had hot grilled salmon with a cold sauce. Both were wonderful. For dessert we had one of the best cheesecakes we have ever had. Banana Foster cheesecake. The second night we sat at the food bar where we could watch all the dishes being prepared. We had a California Roll and an extra spicy Tuna Roll. For dessert we had Vanilla Creme Brûlée. Yummy !!! This is our new favorite restaurant. I am a local. I work on the island at chase suite, at the front desk. Aqua is a place I decided to try out for lunch one day. Because I am always waiting for my shift to start at work. And I am always sitting in their seating area. No one has ever said a word to me, so out of respect I figure I gave it a try and wow, am I hooked. That Yogurt I get is amazing. That is all I usually get because it is healthy and filling. I love it. I eat here everyday almost for lunch. The salads are amazing. The Salmon, The Tuna, and The Chicken on the salads make it really good! The most important thing that keeps me coming back is the atmosphere. The service is amazing. The first person to ever make me feel welcomed here was Nayla, and Austin with the information they both gave me, when it came to the restaurant. Nayla's customer service and Austin's the first time I came, was excellent and they both went above and beyond! Same with Stephanie, she is amazing, very nice and welcoming and as a bartender, not stuck up at all very down to earth, and will make sure you get what you want. Stephanie's customer service was great. Same with Lorena she was very helpful as well when I come in. Another person that made me feel welcomed and provided great service was Guatam and Josh, they are both servers, with great attitudes. If you are dining in I recommend them to serve you because you will not be disappointed. If you are sitting at the bar, make sure Stephanie and Austin are there because they won't disappoint you either. His service as well was very above and beyond. I work at a hotel and I have worked for starwood property which I love their values and I know how important great customer service is. It I like that I can come here work on what I have to work on at ease not being rushed out and being provided excellent service as a local as if I am an SPG plat. That is what keeps me coming back whether it is just for my Yogurt or the salads. Not to mention the cooks, the chefs do a great job in preparing my food and the presentation of it. I really wish I knew their names so they can be recognized because they are the ones that make it happen and make my food look amazing and make it taste good. To start we had the Alaskan King Crab cakes and coconut scallops that came with coconut curry black rice. The scallops were excellent and the rice was delicious but I tasted absolutely no coconut or curry. The crab cakes were not Alaskan King crab. Tasted more like blue crab to me. The crab meat was mushy and not lumpy like Alaskan King crab meat. My husband ordered the salmon which was perfectly cooked and delicious. I ordered the Gulf mahi mahi with couscous. The couscous was terribly bland and the mahi mahi wasn't that exciting. I sent it back and told the waiter that it was bland. I ordered the seafood bouillabaisse instead. It was good but a bit too salty. I guess the chef wanted to make sure that it wasn't bland this time. For dessert we ordered the vanilla creme brûlée. I've had creme brûlée many times and it is always very smooth and creamy. This one had a very weird lumpy texture. Food was OK but not good enough for the price point. read more

We were staying at the Hotel that Aqua is located in. It is a beautiful restaurant with very nice decor. Very modern. We did not have any reservations when we arrived. It was Christmas night and we were looking for a place to eat. They were open and we decided to try them. We have 2 kids so we were not sure of this menu suited them. When I went to the Hostess to ask they told me there is a kid menu. So we were very happy. We were seated right away. But a tip is to make a reservation if you go. We were fortunate that someone cancelled to be seated. We sat at this huge table with these huge beautiful chairs. I felt like royalty. Once seated we were greeted by the waiter who was very nice. We reviewed the menus and ordered out dinner. Wow is all I have to say about the food. Everything from the Pasta to the short rib and potatoes was amazing. Cudos to the Chef. The only thing I do have to say I was disappointed in is the desserts. They were not up to par with what we expected. We ordered 4 different desserts and none of them tasted good. They were $10.00 a dessert. So we spent $40.00 in dessert and one which was the Key Lime Ice Cream could not be eaten as it was so so tart that it could not be consumed. My grouper was good....my daughters filet was overcooked. The server did nothing about it. But worst of all the server never came to check on us at all she was extremely slow and she couldn't even count the change on our tab. It was extremely painful and very slow!! I ate her for a business lunch and thought it was pretty good. I don't typically eat at hotel restaurants because they are often not up to standard but this wasn't bad at all. I had the braised shortrib with leek and potatoes...absolutely delish but rather heavy for lunch. My only complaint would be the length of time it took. We were the only ones in the dining room when we arrived but were still there for almost two hours and that's with no appetizers! Probably not somewhere I would plan on going in my free time but I would be fine bringing a client here (time permitting!). read more

Well to be fair I'm giving them a 3 because they comped our lunch. Was staying at Westin (that's a different review) and decided to have lunch at the hotel. Restaurant looks very nice, open kitchen, glass wine rack wall, glowing blue fancy sign and all. But lunch fair may not have lived up to the decor. My wife got the deconstructed caesar. Lettuce looked old and chicken was medium rare and pink inside in thicker parts. I got two sushi rolls that all in all weren't bad but one should of had lobster in it and other should of had grouper in it. If the two rolls combined had an ounce of meat in them I'm the next sheriff of Rockridge. Not only was the food ok at best we sat at the bar inside and every time the bartender used the sink on the left side of the bar a cloud of 10-20 sewer knats would fly around in a tizzy...ewww! The worst service I have ever experienced. The food took over a hour and a half to come out and when it did come out it was tasteless and seemed reheated. I got fries that were limp and dripping oil. The server was rude, the manager didn't even try to make us feel like we were valued customers. They both avoided the table when the food took longer then the two mins they told us it would take. They never apologized for the wait and were very unpleasant when we got out food. We will never go bad there again. read more

I took friends to Aqua on Thanksgiving day. The food was ok, but the service was terrible. We had three different people serve us, the first of which made it very obvious she did not want to be there on Thanksgiving. It took over 15 minutes to clear a course and overall the meal took over two hours!! We had two children with us and they did not make any effort to get the kids their food in a timely manner and they barely checked on us between courses. When we walked in, mind you we had a reservation, the hostess walked away with a handful of menus. Most certainly ignoring a request for accommodating additional guest. It was a landslide of disappoints after this. No failure to the waiter, as they attached the 18% gratuity. He struggled to keep up with the slow kitchen and bar production. Food- disappointing. Menu dessert items removed, but we only learned this as we requested; after longing for them. Best point from this visit: do not waste your time or money. Really bummed....that I waited so long to try this place! Everything was amazing from beginning to end. Covered complimentary valet was a nice start. We were sat right away even after we were a few minutes late for our reservation. Someone came right over and filled out water glasses and the waiter was right behind him to take our drink order. He gave really great recommendations about which food was good to try and why. We had oysters, ceviche, scallops and flounder- all of which we thought were amazing and cleaned our plates (something we usually never do). A conflicted three stars. First off, Marilyn our waitress was great and the sushi delicious. Unfortunately, the management team isn't keeping up with the demand and there were many menu items that were unavailable. We ordered the calamari, which is described as having sweet peppers and pickled green tomatoes. We ended up with just fried calamari. When we asked, Marilyn informed us that they were out of those ingredients. No biggie, she removed it from our check and let us nibble on the dish. This is where our experience goes from five star to three. When Marilyn picked up the calamari dish from our table the manager followed her and looked over her shoulder to see how much we ate I assume. He then proceeded to correct her in the dining room, loud enough for us to hear from across the room. So you'd rather throw out an improperly prepared dish than to have your customer happy. I found his behavior to be very inappropriate for the setting. Fortunately for Aqua, they have staff members like Marilyn that go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant experience. read more

Decided to give Aqua a try out just because of the location. They are inside a hotel so the parking has a little bit of an issue. They seem to have an interesting menu but when I saw they serve sushi decided to go for my favorite "volcano roll". Our server was less than attentive checked on our table just twice and they were not that busy. My friend ordered the california roll. When sushi arrived I was excited about my volcano, they served all at one plate but it's ok we like to share. When I had the first bite what a dissapointment. Sushi didn't have the normal crab sauce on top and it was dry. My friend's california rolls were also bland. Sushi is not that hard to make so it was a bummer that they failed on both executions. Will be back maybe for drinks to enjoy their view but food needs better execution. read more
