I was in the mood for Mediterranean/Persian food and glad my trusted Yelp App led me to Aria while I was in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I walked into a spacious cozy restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was seated right away by the hostess. And from there, I enjoyed the service from the super friendly waitresses. I knew exactly what I wanted to eat....Beef and Chicken Combo. My dinner was wonderfully deeelicious...sooo fresssh-n-flavorful. I'll definitely be back to try the other dishes. I highly recommend this hidden gem to the Yelp Community :-)

What a hidden gem! We were craving some good kebabs and found this nearby so decided to come try. We were greeted warmly and sat right away with our server providing lots of recommendations. We decided to start with the Falafel appetizer and lentil soup followed by the beef koobideh and chicken koobideh kebabs which also came with a big salad. Everything was so fresh and delicious- enjoyed the food and service!

A hidden gem for great authentic Persian food! Absolutely love their kabob plate and it's a good portion of food and always consistently taste great. They also have beer and wine, really good traditional and authentic Iranian food and desserts. I've been here with family at least a dozen times and it's always so good! I made this account just to post this review. It was my first time trying Mediterranean food, and I ate everything on that plate. You will never catch me eating a grilled whole tomato or onion but I ate those up too. Whatever they did to it was magic, I ate it with the meat, I ate it with the bread, shit it was yummy just by its self. The meat was tender and literally melts in your mouth. I've never had that happen before. The rice was just yummy and whatever that sauce is, I drank it. I'm not from the area but I crave this place all the time. I have high standards because of this place. I don't want to go anywhere else. I'll see you at my wedding.

This place is really delicious and consistent with what you receive. My friends ordered the gyro plate, a kabob koobideh plate and I got a Greek salad. Portions are really large, definitely large enough to share. My salad was yummy with lots of feta but I thought it could have used more toppings. Service is friendly and attentive. I ordered the combo beef Kubide and chicken $24.99 plus a side of grilled veggies $5.00+ a soda $+ The kubide was short and thinner. The chicken were small and few pieces. The veggies were barely grilled for few under grilled veggies costs me $5+ The price went up but the portion became smaller. That is when I stop going back to places like this. The plate I received and paid for is no where near the pictures posted on Yelp by others portion-wise and not what it was like before. I'm so disappointed and dissatisfied. Total cost of food for one person $45 tip included. I don't mind spending $ if I know I will be satisfied. I don't think I will ever come back and I do not recommend.

Best Persian Food in San Diego.... Maybe ever. Except for my moms of course. Been looking for a Persian restaurant in San Diego for YEARS. This tasted like home. Take it from someone Persian......this is excellent Persian food. All dishes we have tried so far have been great...:fesenjoon, baghali polo w/land shank, ghormeh sabzi, adas polo w/chicken kabob, gheymeh bademjoon, and eggplant dip (aka: kashk eh bademjoon). Will return soon! read more

My husband surprised and brought me here for lunch. What a lovely restaurant! The server was very helpful and attentive. My husband had the lamb shank. He loved it!! The meat fell off the bone and was so tender and flavorful. I had the Cornish hen and enjoyed it. It came with two types of rice which totally complimented the Cornish game hen. We had the cake filled with vanilla creme. It was light and tasty. I recommend this restaurant. read more

Food was very fresh. Tried the lamb sultani, chicken sultani, and beef koobideh. Everything tasted good and was not dry. The lamb still had a smell. They had some family platter options available but not on online menu. If ordering takeout, call to find out what they are. And all meat is halal. read more

My family and I were visiting from out of town and found this place by chance. Aria was extremely clean, the owners were very nice and welcoming. Food was excellent. Everything was fresh and very high quality. Portions we great and we ended up taking some of the food home. Our overall experience exceeded our expectation. The restaurant was very clean, white table cloths on tables, more upscale than expected. But the food was the real delight! ENORMOUS servings! We tried the lamb, beef, chicken and salmon in different ways (kabobs, soltani, barg, koobideh) in addition to falafel, hummus and tzatziki. Salads were fresh and water and drinks cold and refreshed often. Great service and accommodating for a large party! Recommend making reservations ahead of over 5-6 people. I went to Aria for the first time this morning when it opened. I'm always on the lookout for restaurants in the Vista and San Marcos area near my home where I can bring home good meals, salads and snacks. This morning when I walked in I was very surprised to see that it was an especially fine looking restaurant, very clean and welcoming. Upscale and relaxed. The woman who took my to go order was very nice. I ordered the Dizi Persian House Specialty which is a lovely, sumptuous, comforting slow cooked lamb shank stew with big hunks of potato simmered in the fabulous sauce. SO good. I ordered the gyros sandwich, very good but I like my gyros meat sliced thinner than they sliced it. Still, the meat itself could not have been more delicious and flavorful. The photo fo the gyros on their website shows thinly sliced meat. I ordered humus with Pita - delicious on the warm Pita. I ordered the Persian vegetable soup, an unusual soup and very good. I ordered the Shirazi salad and the Greek salad. The Greek salad was better than most Greek salads. They didn't skimp on the feta and olives and I like the dressing that came with it, I'd wait in a long line for the Dizi alone. I haven't tried the Shirazi salad yet which is almost like a condiment of small pieces of cucumber, tomato, onion, mint, olive oil and lemon. I will eat it plain and also put spoonfuls on top of other of the dishes I got. I'm so happy! Next I want to try the Adas Pollo, the Gormeh Sabzi, and their wonderful looking Persian sweet things showing in their glass case. read more

Why did I come here?…read more With a hunger for mediterranean and the worry that nearby Aria may be a bit too pricey for a quick meal, I brought my son out to The Pita Guys for some gyro or shawarma. What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.

5 Stars - Amazing Persian Food! I went to Aria with my boyfriend, who is Persian, and he was so excited to introduce me to real Persian food. Let me just say--WOW. I had the ghormeh sabzi, and it was so freaking good! The flavors were rich, the herbs were fresh, and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Why did I come here?…read more With a hunger for mediterranean and the worry that nearby Aria may be a bit too pricey for a quick meal, I brought my son out to The Pita Guys for some gyro or shawarma. What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.

That outbreak resulted in a lawsuit coming from the parents of one of the children who was gravely ill and hospitalized. All people hospitalized had eaten the Beef Kofka (ground beef). The Kabob Shop's supplier, Olympia Foods was blamed. Now do we currently have a June outbreak, only the meat affected is Shaved Lamb-Beef???? Original review: I'm not sure what was going on in this restaurant the night of Friday, June 26, but I had to report a health issue caused by the food shown in my pic from that night. The disgusting smell from this order was so bad, I had to take it out of the kitchen. It literally smelled like dog poop. The dish in question is the Lamb/Beef Plate, which had a pile of meat, accompanied by enough yellow rice to feed many, and a teensey piece of dry pita bread. There also was a missing salad. All I can say is beware because the reviews here are 95% positive, and our past experiences with The Kebab Shops have been good. It could have been just a one-off that night, but it doesn't seem so. Judging by the extensive questioning that DoorDash did when handling my complaint, I just know something more was going on that night to have made me so sick. When you are transferred to DoorDash's Food Safety Department, they're taking your complaint seriously. And investigating it.
