I've wanted to try Aria for a while now and finally my husband and I decided to try something new for date night. We went on a Tuesday afternoon. It was quiet when we entered. The lady at the front was very friendly and seated us right away. Soon after it began to get busy and I can see why. The food is delicious! I had never had Persian food so I decided to have the Tahdig as my main dish. It was so good!! Packed with so much flavor and texture! My husband ordered the Dizi (he loves lamb) and he absolutely loved this dish. When his meal was brought out to him, the waitress offered to show him how to prepare and eat it which was so helpful for someone who has never had Persian food before. Before we finished out food, we were already discussing what we were going to get the next time we return. For dessert we had the Persian Ice cream and Zoolbiah. Wow wow wo is what I have to say. So much flavor, texture, I honestly don't know how to describe it. Do yourself a favor and try it out yourself. You won't be disappointed. read more

I can't believe I've never written a review yet! We've been coming here for years and it's one of our absolute favorite places! Their chicken kebabs are my favorite of ANY place I've ever tried. I've been here many times with my family and it has never disappointed. Their Persian food is by far the best in San Diego. Staff is always super friendly too. One of the best Persian Restaurants for an authentic Persian food experience!!! I enjoyed their beef Sultani last time. This time I got the chicken sultani. Must mosir, the shallot dip is a great appetizer. Salad is always crisp and delicious. The Shams Beer is great too. Baghlava coupled with Persian black tea is a must for desert. Aria has very tasty food, especially the kebobs. They also have a wide variety of kebabs including ground beef, chicken, steak, and lamb. The tadik was a little over cooked which took the enjoyment of eating it away, but there plane rice is great. If you are looking to buy several Kebobs, don't get the combo but get them a la carté. They are also busy late, so if you want to get in and out go early. read more

This place is BOmB. Periodt I am so glad I found it and will be back weekly for the healthy yet yummy hummus, chicken and beef skewers plate with rice and salad. Everything was yummy and the service was wonderful. Price is affordable for a restaurant. Same cost as Luna Grill but WAY better, more fresh and authentic! We will be back for sure! read more

The chicken shish kabob is good. Their hummus is very good with their warm delicious pita bread. The salads have fresh produce, no wilted veggies like at other places. The Persian tea is good. Delicious authentic Persian and Mediterranean cuisine. Casual setting and relaxing ambiance with a large and varied menu with plenty of vegetarian options. You can get kabobs and other Mediterranean dishes elsewhere so I wanted something authentic Persian. Our server was nice and helpful with her suggestions of all of the stews, we each ordered one. I had the Fesenjoon, delish sweet/sour chicken stewed in spices, walnut and finished with pomegranate molasses. The Dizi is braised lamb, beans, tomato stew perfumed with Persian spices - yum. Ghormeh Sabzi is beef sirloin stew with spices, preserved lemon and beans. All came with delicious saffron rice and fresh bread. Me and my wife come here pretty often. At least once a month. We consider it one of the best Persian food restaurants in San Diego. I actually met my wife when she worked at a Mediterranean restaurant in Carlsbad and even had persian/Mediterranean as the food for our wedding. So I can say i enjoy it quite a bit and have tried it all over the western US. With that said Aria has never let us down. We always leave with big smiles and full bellies. The hummus is perfect, the beef, chicken and lamb kebabs are legit! Juicy and flavorful as well. The rice is wiped clean from the plate. The greek salad uses a fresh feta (I assume from Northpark Produce) which by the way has amazing feta of all varieties. But back to Aria. If you havent tried Persian food, this will be the place you grade everyone else against. I go to Aria Restaurant every time I am in the area which is every couple of months . It has always been our favorite Persian restaurant in the San Diego area . They have always had delicious food and excellent friendly service. This time the food was not like always. The lamb soltany was ordered medium but it was very well done. The waiter asked if we wanted another one and we said yes but the second one was not any better. The meat was very chewy and again well done. The Koobideh was not juicy like all the other times. I ordered Rollet for desert and the middle of it was frozen, so obviously they freeze it and bring it to the table as ordered ! I didn't see the main lady I usually see who is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I asked for her and they said she is off but my cousin said last week when they were there they said the same thing when they asked for her. The ambience is still good. I hope the place hasn't changed owners and cooks . I did give them a 4 star because of my past experiences. read more

This place has the best chicken kebab I've ever had! The chicken is cooked perfectly every single time--juicy, tender, and packed with incredible flavor. I have been to Aria lots of times, I have always had great service and great food. Unfortunately, this time was different. We arrived at 7:25 to dine in; driving from RB and when we entered the gentleman at the front rudely said "you here to pick up right?" And we said "oh no, dine in please." He told us we can't, the kitchen closed 30 mins before closing. And looks back at his system... because of this I will no longer be making the trip to this restaurant. read more

The food and ambiance are really good at Aria. It's hard to find good Persian food, but they do a great job at Aria. The pricing is fair for the quality and amount of food that they give. I recently took my family here and everyone ate their fill and had enough to take a little bit home. Came to this restaurant because I love Persian food. We came in a party so I had a little bit of everything. My plate was the chicken & beef kabob combo with rice. Appetizers were point we had the yogurt & cucumber. Hummus and eggplant were on point. I tried the salmon kabob which I never had and it was better than I thought ! What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.

This is a "large" bowl for $17. Pretty sad considering you can buy an entire rotisserie chicken at any grocery store for like $6-10.

I placed an order through the online kiosk for the harvest plate and wanted the steak, but apparently, when I got my order I saw the chicken kebab. I notified the team members that I thought I had added the steak and both the lady at the register and one of the cooks told me, " no problem, we'll get that taken care of for you" and I received a steak kebab at no extra cost. I was surprised at how accommodating they were. There was no dispute and they didn't need to check my receipt. Come to find out, it was my mistake after all. I've been back here multiple times ever since that happened so you can say this review is long overdue. TKS has some of the best tasting food around town. Five stars, and highly recommend.

The Kabob Shop's supplier, Olympia Foods was blamed. Now do we currently have a June outbreak, only the meat affected is Shaved Lamb-Beef???? Original review: I'm not sure what was going on in this restaurant the night of Friday, June 26, but I had to report a health issue caused by the food shown in my pic from that night. The disgusting smell from this order was so bad, I had to take it out of the kitchen. It literally smelled like dog poop. The dish in question is the Lamb/Beef Plate, which had a pile of meat, accompanied by enough yellow rice to feed many, and a teensey piece of dry pita bread. There also was a missing salad. All I can say is beware because the reviews here are 95% positive, and our past experiences with The Kebab Shops have been good. It could have been just a one-off that night, but it doesn't seem so. Judging by the extensive questioning that DoorDash did when handling my complaint, I just know something more was going on that night to have made me so sick. When you are transferred to DoorDash's Food Safety Department, they're taking your complaint seriously. And investigating it.
