[Encounter #1:] Had a loud rattle a couple of years ago that suddenly started and occurred thereafter driving over bumps & potholes, and assumed that something in the exhaust system had come loose. Bill took it for a test drive and did a full inspection, but was unable to find any issue with the exhaust system (turns out it was a brake shoe backing plate that had rusted out and come loose). As another reviewer had experienced, I insisted on paying Bill for his time -- but he refused any payment. [Encounter #2:] Ignored catalytic converter diagnostic codes until old Prius with lots of miles (nearly 300,000) was unable to climb hills or go faster than 35 MPH (owing to that converter becoming clogged and exhaust backing up causing loud valve noises). Anyway, Bill quoted me a price which I was thrilled with -- and when I arrived later to pick up the car (a little wait as he's so popular & busy), he said that the actual price was around $200 less as the labor turned out to be less than usual owing to the ability on my car to access & replace two components at once -- instead of the time often required to access both components separately & independently. I was looking for a duel exhaust for my 1974 F250 Highboy, Luckily the few mechanic shops I frequent told me about Arizona Exhaust Systems. Bill is a soft spoken quiet guy. I pulled into the shop 2 minutes later he was under my truck measuring and coming up with a quote. The job was done to perfection, sounded great and even picked up some power over the stock two into one exhaust system. Bill is a true artist. Bill has worked on my Envoy twice and has exceeded my expectations. My truck was rear ended, and the body shop wanted over $1000 for a new exhaust system. Bill replaced the tailpipe and got me back on the road for a small fraction of that. Months later, the truck developed an exhaust leak which I figured would be big $$$ to fix. Bill diagnosed the problem and had it fixed quickly, and at no charge even though it took him away from other jobs. After I purchased my Tahoe I wanted to put a performance exhaust on it and get rid of the horrible factory exhaust. Cut out my two cats and replaced them for $650 on a Nissan Versa. Not too bad a deal and everything has been working for a while now.

I took my car here as a new customer to have it checked for a noise and smell I attributed to my exhaust system. Bill thoroughly checked the car and found no exhaust problems. He did find a bad anti-freeze leak that accounted for the smell. He test drove the car and suggested the rattling noise might be a suspension problem. After all the time and effort he put into diagnosing my problems he insisted I need not pay him. I did not even suspect people like this still existed in the modern auto repair business. read more

Took my 2006 Wrangler Rubicon, into Bill, as my muffler had a loud resonating sound when I excelerated, very annoying. Bill was very busy and was backed up for days. Fit me in late one day, as I was planning a trip to Sedona. He found the Flowmaster was installed wrong and other problems with my suspension lift. Ask if I could fix the problem before he could install the new muffler. Bill even though very, very busy, got me in early next day, installed a more quiet muffler. Bill went above and beyond. I was told by a "another" mechanic that my CA CATs were shot (and all along I'd thought it was a bad exhaust hanger and muffler)... expensive options were given. In looking for a 2nd opinion and a good Exhaust mechanic I stumbled onto Bill and Arizona Exhaust. My wife first called him and was impressed with the fact that he spoke clearly, gave her time on the phone and said (as I get out of work after Bill usually closes), "I'll wait if he's coming by to look at the truck!" I had bought some universal replacement single CATs to replace the CAs and Bill was a tiny bit skeptical that it would all work BUT AFTER inspecting my Ford F-150 he said, "Darn, I should have looked before you bought those CATs. You have a bad hanger and exhaust!" But no matter, and I'd already bought 'em long before Bill, we did the whole deal! Old CA CATs cut out, O2 still in place, new hi-flow CAT on each side and the new hanger and high flow truck muffler. Great work, truck sounds wonderfully throaty but subdued and mellow. The new CATS (and Bill was careful to get the O2 down streams in the 'exact' same distance/location from the motor) are not throwing CELs and there is no "no CAT" rotten egg smell so often associated with removing CATS and not replacing 'em with something. Bill's price was very reasonable. The work is excellent and Bill is honest and dependable. I know of another friend who took their truck there for work, was so pleased with the job that he 'tipped' the mechanic, now that is something. I recommend Bill and Arizona Exhaust without reservation. If you have anything associated with exhaust and a combustion auto engine, Bill is the guy to see. You will not be disappointed! And you won't get robbed! BTW, across the street from Bill is AAA Brake and Auto... I had a brake issue, Bill said, "Kent's good" and sure enough he was! I recently moved to Prescott from the Bay Area in Ca. where the prices are outrageous and the quality of work is less than desirable. I found Arizona Exhaust Systems on the Internet with limited reviews and nothing on Yelp. I dropped in one day to get an idea of what dual exhaust would cost me on my Ca. built 66 Malibu which is bone stock. Bill took me through the options and the price was what I was hoping for. He delivered as promised and the car performs and sounds great! Bill really went above and beyond to help diagnose an issue I was having that I figured was my carburetor needing adjustment with the high altitude. I opted not to tune it too much based on the new exhaust being installed. When I went to pick up the car Bill found it was actually the smog pump. Ya. Out that came in a quick second. I went to Arizona Exhaust after driving around with a busted flex pipe for over a year. I was quoted by another mechanic about $200 to get it fixed. I figured I could bide my time and wait until I had the money. I finally decided to get it fixed and Arizona Exhaust fit me in the next morning, fixed the pipe in about 30 minutes and it was only $60!
