I've was a customer here for nearly 30 years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I brought my car in to have the driver-side door repaired because it would not open. After multiple visits and ongoing back-and-forth, the issue was never properly resolved. When I finally got my vehicle back, the driver-side door was working--but now the passenger-side door, which had no prior issues, no longer opens. At that point, it doesn't feel like a repair--it feels like the problem was simply shifted. Equally concerning was the lack of accountability and urgency from the service team. When you're paying for a service, you expect resolution--not a new issue. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this location. Nope, Just not going to buy a Cadillac from these guys at all. Please do your self a real favor and shop around. One good thing to keep in mind is check out their service repair center. It may save you a ton of money in the long run. We had our Cadillac looked at a while back by then and they told us it would cost close to $13000 dollars to fix. The repair estimate only highlighted "Timing Chain" issue plus catalytic converters. Took the car up north Chicago who did a deeper diagnostic scan and found out the car has 3 timing chains (BAuer Mentioned one) and worked on the car for basically half of what Arnie Bauer wanted. DO yourself a favor and shop around. BE sure to look at their repair center and shop cost should you ever have to bring that Cadillac in for service. read more

We had an amazing experience at Arnie Bauer Cadillac. In Matteson. My wife and I were looking for a used SUV. We looked for multiple weeks and had a couple of trips into Arnie Bauer. Both times we worked with Norm Mitchell. He was very courteous, extraordinarily friendly and very service oriented. We had a minor issue with our vehicle and Norm went above and beyond to make things right even though it was not really the dealerships fault. I spoke with two different representatives over the course of two days to confirm the availability of a very specific vehicle. I made it clear from the beginning that I was only interested in that exact car--nothing else. Because of the distance, I asked to handle the process remotely, but they refused. After being reassured multiple times that the vehicle was still available, I spent a significant amount on an Uber and arrived at the dealership five hours before my scheduled appointment--only to be told the car had been sold. All of this happened within 24 hours. To make matters worse, the salesperson then proceeded to try and upsell me on a completely different vehicle. I took my Cadillac CT6 in for service on 9/3/25 for a noise that I was hearing while driving and also a check engine light. The sales representative ( Mark D. ) heard the noise from underneath my car as I was dropping the car off. He said that it sounded like it might be the heat shield. I requested that they test drive the car to figure out what the issue/noise was. The mechanic working on car said they normally don't test drive customers cars when they get them. So, how will they determine the issue without driving and hearing the problem? Upon trying to correct the check engine light they found another issue that had to be fixed. I agreed and told them to fix the problem. They had my vehicle for 5 days and I still have the issue with the engine noise. I got my vehicle back on 9/9/25 and btw the repairs were very expensive and they didn't fix the problem. I would NOT recommend using this dealerships service department at all. This is a real review from a real customer. Don't spend your good money at this place when you can have a Walmart experience....at Walmart for half the price. My wife took her vehicle in for a battery on 5/9/2019. The car would not start intermittently, and she figured it was a dead cell in the battery. She asked the price on the Gold battery and was quoted $159. The next day we got a call from Arnie Bauer's service rep named Mark saying that it wasn't the battery and to come get the car. Whoa buddy! This car is under warranty, and clearly something was wrong. OK, so we listened to Mark and came to get the vehicle. Guess what? The car wouldn't start. Mark ask to keep the car for further testing, we got a call on 4/13/2016....5 days later saying it actually was the battery. Not only did it take them 5 days to diagnose the problem that my wife (a very capable Army Veteran) had already made them aware of, but the price inflated as well. The out the door price had gone to $208!!! Arnie Bauer prices are inflated well beyond other GMC dealers. Check Hagerty GMC for the same battery/installation and save over $50. Doesn't this sound like a Walmart experience? It gets even crazier, after some disagreement, and discussion over the price with Mark, I acquiesced and told Mark I would pay his newly requested price. But guess what, this dull minded fella would not put on his listening ears, and he continued to argue to an empty conversation. I then asked to speak to a service manager; Bill agreed with me and removed some of the cost, but it took them 5 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE A BATTERY! And they would not even give my wife a loaner car, or acknowledge the mistake they made. If you are buying a car, beware of these guys and their interest rates as well. They will try a 26% interest rate, yes they will. Don't get a loan from these guys. Get a home equity loan, get a loan from a Credit Union, USAA. Just don't get a loan from these guys. If you don't believe me, just ask any of their salesmen to explain the formula used to compound interest on a car loan. Trust me, they won't be able explain it in the least. I'm able to give such insight because my wife and I drive the exact same identical cars, just from different dealers. So I can tell you that Arnie Bauer is a bad deal compared to other GMC dealers, and you don't have to spend good money to have the same experience we had. This is why Yelp exist. read more

This service department is the absolute worst! Mark Deihl is a sexiest condescending jackass and has no business in customer service. I went in for a simple tire replacement on Wednesday, as this was the closest authorized Nitrofill dealer and I wasn't comfortable driving it to Peotone, where I purchased the car, on a donut. The tire replacement ended up taking three hours, which was blamed on the Nitrofill people. However, I was calm and understanding. Whatever. I left and hopped onto 57 to get home to my kids and my entire car started shaking. I pulled off at Volmer to take Cicero home and asked my husband to make sure the lug nuts were tightened, as I thought that could maybe be the issue. Nope, they're all fine. I call Thursday and spoke to a wonderful woman who got me I early Friday morning (today). I finally get a call from Mark that they checked their work and it was done perfectly. But that I apparently had a multitude of other issues. I reiterated to him, multiple times, that the shaking was new since I left their facility and I was met with "how do we know that?!" Implying I was lying. However, one of the issues he mentions over the phone was a bent something or other on the tire that was replaced, but of course, it wasn't them. Then, when I went to pick it up he then starts telling me it's the front tires causing the shaking, and that he drove it himself and it wasn't that bad. Well, any shaking, in my opinion, is bad. Especially when it wasn't doing that before I left it with them FOR A SIMPLE TIRE REPLACEMENT! He refused to take ownership of their mistake and make it right, so here I am to warn others. I'm a repeat leasing customer with this Arnie Bauer dealership. i think that says a lot about this review. :) I've worked with Alyssa (new car sales manager) on both lease transactions. Back in 2016 I leased a 2016 Buick Encore and this past week I just leased a 2019 Buick Encore. We agreed on a great price before me coming into dealership and she delivered exactly that price when I arrived. Once at dealership, Mike (sales) helped me look at vehicle, gave great information, kindly answered all my questions and then directed us to Trina (finance). I signed a couple papers and I was on my way ($0 due at signing! Woot, woot). Easy, fast and a great transaction, again! I'm in Plainfield and happily drove to Arnie Bauer dealership in Matteson (about 45 mins away) because I trust what Alyssa promises. I knew what I wanted to pay, knew the going prices between compact SUVs, knew about lease incentives...so, all that combined helped us come to a great price. I did look at Honda CR-V, HR-V. But those were a bit more than I wanted to pay monthly w/$0 due at signing. Alyssa made a great offer and I gladly took it. So I'm trying to be a reasonable man about my car situation but I'm frustrated right now. I come into this dealership and explain my situation with recalls on my 2011 gmc terrain. Now how I know this guy is pushing me off is by his tone when I show papers of recalls on my car. He was quick to say the recall wasn't open on it. I showed papers and online papers to get my car fixed. He honored two out of 3 papers that I have. I talked to Phil the service manager and he was able to work it out with me so I'm good with that. I keep telling myself to read Yelp reviews before I patron a place, but I've been coming to this dealership since 2007 so my experience has been up and down and mostly dealing with service. From oil change, minor and major repairs, they have been helpful, sometimes pricey but overall good service. This is why I'm disappointed to have such a night and day existence from servicing my car to buying a car. This review covers a series of experiences over about a two week period in the process of buying my first new car. I/we are the type of customers who purpose to do research and try to make informed decisions, a practice that changes the dynamics of buying a vehicle. Let me start by saying that Reggie Parker was a very good salesperson. He didn't talk fast to pressure me into buying. He was very informed about the vehicles of interest and made suggestions about models and features based on our conversation. I felt like he actually listened. Kudos to you Reggie! One of the most irritating parts of car buying is the"negotiating" song and dance, and that's when the experience began to GREATLY decline. Angela Chalmers, a sales manager, was polite. She worked within reason to bring the vehicle closer to a decent price (check Truecar and other dealers for comparisons). Our final price was just ok, not spectacular. It's more monthly than I wanted but not financing through GMC and searching around for a better rate helped greatly! When disagreements arose, Angie listened and tried to resolve concerns, even at the last minute when Hubby walked around the car and noticed scuff marks. We also interacted with two other people during this unnecessarily stressful existence, Rowland Laird (salesperson), Alyssa (sales manager), and Jeff Rogers (business manager). Rowland brought a car around for us when Reggie was off, we knew what we wanted before going in but it wasn't available to see. Angie suggested the same vehicle with a light interior. Still, he knew a lot about the vehicle. I was concerned that Rowland wrote a Yelp review as though he was a customer (check my pictures), but it seems to be the practice of sales people and their family members to try and boost the rating of the dealership. Check the names of those reviewing, huge note to self. Alyssa almost caused us to walk away. She was abrupt, and kept saying that it was the deal that we agreed on. She wouldn't listen as we constantly told her that we had not agreed on a deal and brought in papers for the GM Educator discount as Angie asked me to do...and BOOM. Jeff came back in and explained that the papers aren't needed because no other discounts could be applied... I've been an educator for more than 20 years and finally find a great discount program to honor the tradition - promise of a discount recanted and denied. Watch out for Memo-In and Memo-Out shenanigans in which you pay taxes on a supposedly applied discount but then it's taken off the bottom line. Any exact money in and out line voids itself so the customer pays taxes on air because you get diddly squat, that's my interpretation. This dealership will not order new personalized or vanity plates for new purchases because they only issue from the plates that they already have. THIS WILL COST YOU EXTRA MONEY AND TIME TO CORRECT IF YOU WANT TO CHOOSE YOUR OWN PLATE, WHICH IS YOUR RIGHT TO DO & WITHIN IL NEW PLATE GUIDELINES. We went to Arnie Bauer Buick looking for a used car that we saw on-line. Unfortunately, at that moment another customer was test driving the same car, and they purchased it. We were disappointed, however, the salesperson was already searching for that exact car model for us. Thankfully there was another one of the same car available at another dealer -- across the country! Arnie Bauer Buick actually had the car shipped to their dealership and called us when it was available. They gave us a reasonable price, and we made the deal and took the car home the same day. I needed a rare tire for my 2012 Cadillac and called several Good Year and Cadillac dealers who all said they had none in stock and couldn't find one anywhere after a 15 min look. I then tried Arnie Bauer Cadillac and talked to Bill in the Service Dept., who said "We need to get you a tire somehow" and said he was transferring me to Lyndsay in the Parts Dept, and was going to walk over and help her look thru various sites. Lyndsay in Parts together with Bill kept looking and said that they still couldn't find anything but would keep looking and would call me back when they find something. An hour later Lyndsay called me back to say they found me a tire AND SHE WAS GOING TO GO PICK IT UP SO I COULD HAVE IT FOR THE NEXT DAY! I can't believe and can't adequately convey my appreciation for the concern and persistence they showed, almost like it was their own problem! You rarely if ever come across this kind of outstanding customer service. Lyndsay warned me that the tire was going to be expensive (around $400) but I was lucky that the one nail didn't penetrate and the other nail could be plugged and repaired, so only cost me $26.57 (Good Year said $40 to plug)! But also shows their honesty that they passed up making a huge profit to help the customer save money! The Service Advisor Vince couldn't have been nicer too. I have to say that they have won a new customer from the Caddy dealer I used to use and I really think that Arnie Bauer should really be proud of his outstanding team he has there! read more

Not a great experience. I called to ask if a car I saw on their website was available, they told me yes so I decided to come in right away. I talked to a different person who showed us the car, talked to us about it and had me fill out my information and I had decided I would be purchasing today. After about 30 minutes when we were about to finalize the sale, the sales rep left and then came back saying that someone had actually put a deposit on it they were waiting on him to buy the car. I don't understand how after talking to two people and staying there for over 30 minutes that this wasn't communicated beforehand. I was told I would get a call back the next day regarding the status of the car being sold or not. No one ever called me back to tell me this or talk to me about other offers. Unfortunately, I had an extremely poor experience with this dealership. After performing a national search for a 2023 Yukon Ultimate, this dealer landed on my radar as having one of the very few that are available in the country to purchase. After going through a carousel of sales people throughout the day, I landed with Alex C., who I informed that I was interested in purchasing. Being a 14 hour drive away from Matteson IL in southeastern NC, I called to verify that they had the vehicle on their lot and that they'd take a deposit. After verifying both, Alex took my credit card information and informed me that I'd need to travel to IL by the weekend to close the transaction, all of which I agreed to. I ended the call, notified my wife that I'd found her new car and set on my way to planning the logistics of rearranging my work week and flying to Chicago to purchase and drive this vehicle home. Not more than 30 min later I received a call back from Alex C. with a "slight issue". It turns out that there was a local buyer who had come into the dealership earlier that day and expressed interest in the same vehicle. Even though this person had NOT put a deposit down, Alex informed me that someone above him made a decision that they would rather sell it to the local buyer. So he essentially "unsold" the same vehicle that he had sold to me 30 minutes earlier. I expressed my displeasure and asked to speak with the general manager, who I then called and left a voicemail for. Throughout the remainder of the evening and into the next morning, Alex was noncommittal on whether or not there were any updates regarding the other buyer. I waited for most of the next day before sending an email follow up with the general manager, Bret P. I'd tried to phone the dealership multiple times throughout the day, and despite being told that he was in the office, I did not receive a phone call back. Within an hour of sending a very strongly worded email expressing my displeasure and essentially warning of a negative review, I finally received a phone call from Bret. While he was extremely apologetic, his explanation did very little to make me feel better about the most shady business practice I had ever experienced. He told me that essentially GMC "dings" dealerships for not selling to local buyers. He went on to explain that there was another different salesperson, also named Alex, involved in this transaction, who upon learning that I was calling to give a deposit gave the other interested party a phone call and an opportunity to buy the vehicle out from underneath me - despite me being first to the table with money. I would've understood if the angst from the dealership was due to the risk of an out-of-state buyer not showing up for a vehicle they had pulled off the market. Having purchased a similarly priced vehicle a month earlier from another out-of-state dealership that was nearly the same distance from my home, I was willing to prove that I have enough cash sitting in my account to outright purchase the vehicle to put the dealership at ease. However, that clearly wasn't the issue here. This was simply a matter of choice. I was left feeling as though my money was not sufficient and that the lies told to me by the sales agent were intentional. He clearly knew that this vehicle was sold and chose not to inform me. All said and done, this is the most underhanded way of doing business that I've ever dealt with. I told Bret that the only thing he could do about this is to not treat any future customers this way. As a part owner and nearly 40 year veteran of the dealer, I implored him to inform any out-of-state buyers that they would rather not sell vehicles to them. I also cautioned that he should retrain his agents if their mission is to only sell to local buyers (though no other dealers that I've called across the nation mentioned the preference GM supposedly pushes for to local buyers). I have started to look for a new car and to be honest I don't know why Cadillac even popped up in my head. The last gm product I had was 2009 chevy impala ss two transmissions and theft. Glad its out my life... SO I fill out an online application then I get a call from jonathan come on down we need to verify this and that. so I start asking questions like " what's the APR? what's the loan amount? who is the bank?' no clue. He transfers to someone in finance they explain I need to come in and have my check ran. I told him I have got cars in the past and didn't have to come in to get approval. Then alyssa calls me saying we need my trade to appraise it. OK!!!! so im asking who approved the loan? she replies back saying several!!! and I said "care to share" she stated she couldn't provide details so I hung up. I went to this dealership as they had it in stock and they charged me over $100 more than another dealership charged me a few months back for the same exact tire. They ethically ripped me off! I brought my car in on March 13th, 2021 to repair the inside door lock, which was not functioning. The car was under warranty. Arnie Bauer, in a self-fulfilling prophecy, said, well (before they looked at it), that there might be ash in the circuit board, which could have shorted it out. I have been dealing with computers since the Commodore 64, and dust/ash doesn't short out computer boards, especially if there is no fan, and it is totally enclosed (couldn't see how ash could get inside the door, and if so, in a miniscule amount). Anyways, they refused to replace it, even though under warranty, but were more than happy to charge me 250 bucks to replace a 50 dollar part, again, under warranty. In addition, once I pulled out of Arnie Bauer, my radio lights were not working, dashboard lights dim, and it barely started afterwards. So, in addition to refusing a piece under warranty, they managed by their 'expert team of mechanics' make my car worse, and dangerous. I emailed to the actual customer care representation, a salesperson, and texted (via their website) over 30 times with no response. I then filed a Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaint. I also called up Customer Care Service from Buick, and they said, in no uncertain terms, that Arnie Bauer should have replaced it, with no charge, since the car was still under warranty (Arnie Bauer wanted 250 bucks!). I have seen this CONfindence job before in ye olde time mechanic shops...thought that line of reasoning was out with the Dodo bird. Anyways, again, Buick Customer Care said they should replace it with no charge. Today, I finally their response to my BBB complaint. They said they talked to GM (seems to be the polar opposite of what Buick Customer Care Service said to me, and Buick also said that customer satisfaction is their number 1 priority), talked to GM with no details, and they would agree that I could take my car to another dealership and pay for it myself. What great customer relations...are they trying to the best of their ability to drive people away? Again, after 30 emails and texts to Arnie Bauer, obviously no one read them, as the only replies I got were...'so you want to buy a new car, do we have a deal for you.' Arnie Bauer treated me like a piece of garbage, and judging by their BBB rating of 1 star (the lowest it will go) they do it to everyone else as well. STAY AWAY from these CONfidence hustlers!!! read more

BTW I took the car to a MECHANIC that your mechanic left a cable to the MAF unattached. This MECHANIC plugged it back in and that resolved my hard transmission shift problem. Again either this action was incompetence or scamming, your call. And since you did not respond to my offer, I have gone elsewhere for the pcm replacement and will continue to go elsewhere for further work and purchases. When I purchased my nearly new 1999 Buick Century from another dealership, I took it to this dealership for maintenance as long as it was covered, and still brought it here if my mechanic was unable to fix it (which didn't occur often). If I need to deal with a dealer, this is certainly my place of choice. I was at Arnie Bauer Cadillac-Buick this weekend to purchase a spare set of keys. As usual, they were very friendly, I got my keys and looked around their lot and another dealers' (Kia) while I was at the Matteson Auto Mall. If and when I will be in the market for another vehicle (I do have a 12 year-old car after all) I'll be back. I have never experienced such a terrible and angering car buying experience in my many years. My wife and I traveled to test drive and consider buying a 2017 Cadillac XT5 at Arnie Bauer Cadillac Buick GMC in Matteson, Illinois. Eighty miles from our home, but the car is all of what I wanted in both color and options, and the customer service contacts, while setting up an appointment were professional and supportive. We were introduced to a sales representative "James", who provided us an opportunity to drive the car and answered all of our questions. Upon returning to his sales desk, we reviewed our trade-in vehicle's value and negotiated the remaining price. After reviewing with his sales manager, we agreed to pay $19,000 and our trade-in vehicle as an "out the door price" for the XT5. That was confirmed with my wife stating that we would borrow $12,000 and pay the balance of $7,000 in cash (personal check). Everything was great, as we were directed to the financing office for the seemingly unending signatures. Then, when asked to sign the loan document, my wife noted the documented amount was inaccurate, in showing $6,973.78 over (more than) the agreed loan. We brought the inaccurate loan amount to the attention of the finance manager, who stated he had only documented the amount that he was provided. He then left the room and our sales representative James returned to inquire about the problem. We reviewed the sale amount as we had previously agreed (our car and $19,000), to which James agreed that was accurate. Leaving the room briefly, he ultimately returned with no explanation. As we walked with James, I assumed we would be reviewing the problem with the sales manager. Instead we were asked if we had any interest in the "other cars". I was becoming very disappointed. Of note...if we had unknowingly signed the loan document, we would have committed ourselves to paying $4,000 more than the vehicle's listed sale price of $31,850. Why would I [ever] agree to pay more than the listed price? Was this an oversight or a criminal act of bait and switch? This sale event made me wonder if other customers had unknowingly obligated themselves to higher purchase prices by not reviewing the loan document carefully. Further begging the question; who changed the sale/loan amount? The sales manager? The finance manager? We left Arnie Bauer Cadillac GMC Buick in Matteson, Illinois with the distinct impression they were trying to take advantage of us. This place is absolutely horrible when it comes to customer service. I have had nothing but problems with buying a used car and every time I take it in (which costs me at least $200) the ignorance just seems to increase. I understand being a woman and not knowing much about cars is one thing, but when I take my car in, tell you everything that's wrong with it, don't sit here and look me dead in my eyes and ask me what I would like you guys to do about it. How about fix my car correctly the first time so we don't have to have these rude encounters. Absolutely the WORST experience of my life. Holly was horrible, so uninformative, don't know the first thing about selling cars. Every question I asked, she didn't know. Told us we were approved, I asked her numerous times, she confirmed yes. Took out an insurance policy for the car at her desk by her request. Then, comes the bumps in the road that we were never made aware of. Not to mention they ran our credit 16 unnecessary times, thanks Angie for that one. If I could give no stars I would! I'll try to keep it short Got a "new" car (had 5,000 miles on it but listed as new) at the beginning of the month. The car was never cleaned or detailed. I had to tell them to clean it before taking delivery. They tried to clean it and was told to come back during the week for detail. Got home noticed the cargo net was missing, and back panel was popped out. Immediately, returned and they said they would fix it when I came in for detailing. While driving I noticed the windshield had a wave on it. Returned Monday for detail was told they will replace window in 5 days and will fix everything then. 15 days later still no call. I followed up and found out part was on back order yet no one called to tell me. Finally, 27 days later they tell me to bring car in night before, that the window guy will be there first thing and they will fix the other issues. So I do that. When I pick my car up. It's still not cleaned, no cargo net and all they tell me is sorry we will try better next time. Are you kidding me!!!! Completely unprofessional and shady! Do not buy a car from them! read more

Bought a new Buick Envision today. The process was easy and painless. Started by calling and making an appointment. Very nice process. Found out our basic needs and wants and told me they had what we wanted. The salesman was very accomadating and helpful. Test drive was fabulous. Next stop was the paperwork. This was done with a minimum of pushiness and quickly accomplished. Then back to the salesman for a lesson on the car. After that we drove off. I was charged for a security system I did not want and promised my money back. Never received the $290.00. I was told I can expect a check in the mail several times. Also had problems with plates for the new van I bought. These people don't follow thru with there promises. Marco was my salesman. Stay clear of this business you will be disappointed.
