5 stars for portion size 5 stars for pricing compared to other options nearby 5 stars for the summer rolls and that peanut sauce! 4 stars for pad Thai Although not the absolute best Thai food I have had in my life, I would say it is very good for Charlotte. Definitely in my top 2. There was a good serving size of protein in my pad thai. The spicy levels seemed appropriate (I got no spicy but my husband got a medium spicy dish and enjoyed it). I really enjoyed my pad Thai for dinner (and lunch the next day). It had a great peanut flavor and good textured noodles. My favorite dish though was the summer roll.. yum! That peanut sauce is so addicting that I put it in with my pad Thai. The service for my call in order was exceptional. Friendly and honest, they told me the summer rolls would be $1 extra with shrimp. Not only that, but the young lady called to tell me when my order was ready to picked up. All in all, I will happily keep Aroy Thai in my take out rotation. We had a happy and full family after visiting!

Was close to this restaurant and tried the pad see ew though it tasted pretty good the dish lacked seasoning. The spice level was good! Service was fast and the location was pretty small I saw a lot of door dash I would return to try other dishes

Coming back here after a one year hiatus was like a breath of Thai air that I needed desperately and didn't even realize it until I walked through those doors! The wait staff were as quick as you could dream for in taking our orders, and returned with our food just as quickly! The lunch portions were quite large and we were very happy with the fact we could bring home a little bit of Thai happiness for a second meal later! We enjoyed Pad See Ew, Garlic Chicken, and Chicken Fried Rice. Each meal was exceptionally good and very flavorful! One of my sons ordered a huge glass of strawberry boba, and said it was "the best", so I guess I will trust his judgment on that! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The eatery itself is very relaxing, inviting, serene, and just felt an overall feeling of being very welcomed here![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The fish tank was a nice touch for sheer eye candy alone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although this place appears to be a whole in the wall, it stays quite busy and is much larger inside than you might expect![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Don't be deceived by outward appearances this is a gem on a main road and you would be a fool not to stop and enjoy all it has to offer!

Let this be a push for you to try Aroy Thai! I've always, always loved the food here. I believe there was a change of owner/management but the food has stayed at the same fantastic level. This was my first time dining in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The mix match tables and chairs adds a no-frills touch but the space is cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The host at the front also took our order and had nice small talk and was very kind. We got goyza (not like any goyza I've had. This was very crispy fried but the flavor was really nice and I didn't mind the crunch), edamame, summer rolls with shrimp (very large size rolls with great fresh taste with crisp vegetables inside) and I could eat the plum sauce that they are served with on EVERYTHING! Entrees were 2 pad kee mau with chicken and extra vegetables and the other with chicken and shrimp, both level 3 - not a big lingering spice but the heat is there. This is the type of place where I always have intentions of trying something new but because this order is so good, it has me in a tight hold.

This is my first time trying thai tea and chicken panang curry and it was so good! Great spices and good comfort food

This was the saltiest pad see ew (both plates in the picture) of my life. I've never been so dehydrated from a dish. Very disappointing. You can also see that it's inconsistent between the two dishes, one is darker than the other. We've had 5 people tried the dish and they all complained it was salty. The only good and well balanced, edible dish was the pad Thai. Love that they put aluminum foil under the food so it wouldn't leak through the boxes. Another point I wanted to bring up is that they were fast with the take out order. On time and we didn't have to wait long.

Since COVID-19 started I have continued to support local and order delivery or pickup. When I need my Thai fix Aroy has been my go to spot. They currently offer delivery, as for dine in not sure, but everything arrives piping hot and just as fresh as I remember when I dined in. Stand outs for my are always the Crab Rangoon, and I love their Thai Fried Rice. Unlike Chinese fried rice it includes stewed tomatoes, cucumbers and lime. If you're into Fried Rice, or looking for a good Thai delivery during these times, Aroy is worth a try!

After a fellow yelper posted photos, I knew I had to come. So after a trip to the Asian supermarket I stopped here for lunch. I walked in and unfamiliar with the set up I placed my order at the counter but I could have placed my order after sitting at a table. It's cute inside with a minimal amount of tables, definitely looks like most of their business is to go and carry out orders. I couldn't decide what I wanted so went with my standard faves and how I determine if a Thai restaurant is worth coming back to. I ordered sum tom, larb and pad see ewe. I ordered everything Thai spicy except the noodles and it definitely did not disappoint on heat. The flavor on the sum tom (green papaya salad) was delicious and on point. The larb salad was warm and full of flavor. I only wished the larb salad came with lots of lettuce or cabbage to enjoy it with. The service was exceptional and anything I asked for or needed, I had.

I go there to eat green curry because it used to be authentic and it reminded me of my grandmas green curry. However im disappointed because its not used to be like a year ago. There is no thai basil and no toasted dehydrated thai chili anymore

It doesn't look like much on the outside and it is fairly easily to miss when driving down Independence but do not sleep on Aroy Thai. My friends and I shared several of their appetizers and entrees together, family style. Everything was excellent. And if you like things to be spicy when you order spicy, they'll do you right here.

The explanation about the charge for uneaten all-you-can-eat sushi that guests want to take home was particularly helpful. Knowing the rules upfront makes all the difference and sets the right expectations from the start. The food was excellent. We worked our way through several rolls , sampled dumplings , and didn't find a miss among them. My Lycheetini was delicious, and after tasting a couple of sakes , I ended up buying a bottle to take home. Zero regrets there. So his choice was here. Google directions suck they took us around the back to the parking garage for the 2nd level and since we have never been here before it took us a few minutes to figure out how to get down to the first level. When we entered there was a waiter taking an order and no one else on the floor so we had a little bit to get seated even though there were only two other parties in the restaurant. We were able to sit wherever we wanted so I sat with a view of the screen with the replay of the Brazil FIFA game on. My husband wanted the unagi don but didn't order because the price seemed high. The table next to us all ordered bowls and the serving size was huge so my husband regretted it. We order takoyaki, spicy wings, and 3 rolls Godzilla, Hadouken, and Master Roshi. The wings had amazing flavor but were not spicy. Takoyaki was flavorful and the perfect temperature. I get a lot of takoyaki that is entirely too hot and have to crack them open to cool before eating them. My husband did not enjoy the Godzilla roll he said the topping was too much and didn't add to the flavor. But enjoyed the other two. I enjoyed all three rolls the flavor was fresh and very little need for soy sauce fine without it. If we are ever in Charlotte with time to eat I would stop here again.

We were so impressed, we decided to order the double fried wings afterwards. The wings were good and had an interested flavor with the tamarind. After the wonderful appetizers, it was time for the entrees. I ordered the short rib yuca gnocchi and my friend the arroz con pollo. On paper the gnocchi sounded sublime, but in actuality it was lacking a lot. The entire dish lacked so much flavor, even with hot sauce, additional salt, and lime it tasted bland. I was very disappointed. The empanadas and service were a saving grace, I ordered two orders of empanadas to go for my family. However they were so expensive. I paid $14 for 3.
