Great restaurant hidden in a strip mall on Independence. Not too hard to find but the strip mall has seen better days for sure. Longtime residents will remember the mall as TGI Fridays and Rock and Roll Emporium used to be located there. First time here ordered lunch to go. I got shrimp red curry and beef lovely basil added broccoli. The curry was delicious, the lunch portion has 5 shrimps. I was so lucky to find this place in my Thai food search! When I arrived I was greeted by a young friendly couple. I placed an order to go. As I waited the couple continued to chat with me. As I sat there I noticed the Decor was not traditional Thai however it was very modern/trendy with barn-wood on the walls! It felt like it was designed by the team at Fixer-Upper on TV! Ha ha The place was very clean! I ordered red curry shrimp which definitely varies from restaurant to restaurant however it was perfect. The shrimp could've been a little larger but the spice was perfect! I also ordered the curry puffs which were perfectly deep fried! I wish this couple the best of luck with their new restaurant! Went in for the first time today. The food was tasty, we had a gyoza app, I had Pad Thai with veggies and my bf had beef fried rice. The chunks of beef were a little large, but everything tasted great including the sample apps we were offered. Those curry puffs are so yummy! The lady working was super friendly and hospitable. This is a for a take out order. First time here. We live right down the road, glad there is such great thai food close to us!! The atmosphere was very pleasant, intimate space and lighting. My pad Thai lacked spice completely (I requested a 3/5 on spice), the crab rangoons were not even close to warm and barely had any crab at all. Being that we got to-go food for a long drive-- we had to throw them out entirely. The order was supposed to take 20 minutes and took 55, and when it came out-- there were no gyozas for the lunch special, and they forgot rice on one of the two platters. We were excited to try this place, and went out of our way to do so. However, I definitely feel like I wasted 35 dollars and don't think we'll be making our way back. read more

I ordered tonight through door dash and let me tell you how amazing this food was. I got the pad see yew and my family got some of the curry dishes. We know curry as my mother is from India and it was absolutely delicious. I had ordered a Thai coffee and the manager on duty tonight took the courtesy to call me and apologize for they were all out and instead suggested the Thai iced tea... SO GOOD. He even threw in a little moon pie that wrote "thank you sairah". Now that is customer service. Highly recommend and will make sure to dine in next time read more

I wouldn't eat here again if they gave it to me for free for the rest of my life. It tasted burnt, but no actual piece of food I had was that burnt. Finally,​ a Thai restaurant on the East side! Yelp sent us to them! We weren't disappointed​! Graciously​ greeted and served. We stopped in for lunch Saturday afternoon. You're​ seated and given a menu to look over and once you decide you go to the front counter and place your order and pay. We started with​ the Curry Puffs and Pak Pak (Papaya) Salad. The Curry Puffs and dipping​ sauce were so tasty and​ the Pak Pak was outstanding! The papaya, peanuts, and tomato in the salad were a wonderful sensation of taste and flavor! My wife had the Pad Thai with Tofu (no spice) and the sauce on the noodle was delicious and​ the tofu cooked perfectly! I had the Panang Curry with chicken (medium) and it was some of the best I've ever had! We both had a Thai Tea (very good) and a fried banana​! It was a wonderful lunch. The lunch specials are perfectly​ proportioned​ and priced very reasonably! The husband and wife team were so nice and wonderful to talk with! It's great to have a reasonably priced Thai restaurant in the Charlotte area. Aroy Thai is in a strip mall on Independence Boulevard. It's a very simple restaurant, small with a few tables but very serene atmosphere. The servers are so nice and helpful. I had the Pad Thai and the shrimp yellow curry and they were both really good. Wow!! Im so happy this place is on my side of town! The owners, Terry and Megan, are kind and welcoming. The food is ON POINT, the real deal (not bs commercialized Thai). We ordered veggie & tofu pad thai, so sweet chicken, egg rolls and shrimp in a blanket. The apps were really well made and super flavorful. Our meal was to-go, and I love that the containers for the fried items had vents (so that they dont get soggy). My hubby said the shrimps in a blanket were unique, unlike anything he's ever had -- and they were delish. Our entrees were cooked to perfection and again, really authentic in flavor. Tried Aroy Thai for dinner and enjoyed everything! Service was fast and friendly. Great for kids- the chicken teriyaki and fried bananas were a big hit with them. They got the level of spice just right for the dishes we ordered- shrimp red curry and papaya salad. portions were very generous and we had quite a bit left over to take home for later. can't wait to come back! read more

Not a great experience. Maybe the place is under new ownership or the management changed. Significant changes since we were last there. Previously the plateware, cutlery and cups were mostly recyclable products. Now they are plastic. None of it is recycled. No plates to wash to lower costs I'm sure but at least before I felt like my consumption of product would be recycled. Oh and the plastic forks broke and I was unable to finish my meal because I couldn't find the pieces. (Hmm, maybe I'll bring my own metal cutlery next time.) The (2) waters arrived with ice in the cup accompanied by little specs of 'flavor' in the water. That was gross. I ordered a very simple shrimp pad Thai. Previously when I ordered it the noodles we're longer then 3 inches AND the taste of so much ketchup was absent. Maybe the recipe changed slightly? My partners red curry also tasted of ketchup. I don't make Thai food but I didn't think it was ketchup based. The service was fine, aside from the gal taking a call while we ordered, in person, at the establishment. Maybe times are tough and gotta get those orders in. We won't be back. Time to find another local Thai place. read more
