Fast service for the to-go orders. Smells were intoxicating as we were driving home so we dived into dinner early. The chicken pad Thai can easily feed two people. Ordered takeout from here. I ordered the pad thai with tofu and the flavor was just alright. The pad thai itself (the noodles and veggies) was good BUT the tofu had no flavor at all and just tasted like frying oil. I have had decent Thai food in other parts of Alabama and will hold out until I return there to have pad thai again. It just was not very good from here. I also had fried spring rolls and, again, they tasted like old oil. Not too great and I felt like the prices were a bit expensive for what the food was. read more

I'm here at least once a week. The staff, the cleanliness, the delicious food, the spacious parking, I would recommend Aroy (and do) to everyone. Every single thing on the menu is fantastic. The Tom kha soup is the best in town, the basil fried rice is to die for, and all the lo mein dishes and mouthwatering. They're quick and the food is always hot and SO flavorful. This place was close to our Airbnb during a long road trip. After 8 hours on the road, it was was nice to get a warm meal. On a Nice Friday summer evening we started to sit down at one of the outdoor tables and a manager walked up to us and announced "It's too hot. We're not serving outside!" When we walked away, he did not try to apologize or stop us. First of all, it is NOT too hot. That is my decision as to whether I want to eat in the "hot" outside. Secondly, Aroy has really good food; we've eaten there a lot. But, I am completely disappointed with the flippant disregard of good customer service. Found this place while doing a map search of places nearby to where I was staying. While in town I wanted to try out local establishments so thought I'd give it a go. I ended up eating here on 3 different occasions during my stay in the area. Every time it was fresh, steaming hot and delicious. Very clean and the staff was friendly. I have to say this was a very unusual experience. Our server greeted us and was upbeat and nice. We sat and ordered. We ordered the Pork Spring Rolls & then we each ordered a Pad Thai dish. A young girl brought our our Spring Rolls and as she placed them on the table she said "vegetable spring rolls." I asked, "are they pork?" She threw her hands up and said "I don't know". Okay. No big deal. I'm starving. We eat the spring rolls and they were delicious. The presentation was nice, the sauce was great, but they were vegetable spring rolls. No big deal. Our server checks on us and I just tell him. "These were great but they were vegetable, not pork. But, no big deal." He brings us our entrees but I can't find my fork. I am about to send my husband for one but this guy at another table jumps up and gets me one. He made a joke about me using my hands. I realize, at this point, he's a manager or an owner. We start to eat as this guy pulls up a chair and sits down. I was startled as to what he was even doing. He asks me "to walk him through what happened here because he's not understanding." I have no idea what he is even talking about and I just want to eat. He continued on and began to lecture me that his wife was upset. She said she made us pork spring rolls and he wants to understand why we are saying they were vegetable. Uhhh...seriously? I really just wanted to eat. I did not have a problem. I wasn't making an issue at all. He continues on basically wanted us to admit we got it wrong. I started to second guess these spring rolls I had just eaten. I didn't see or taste any pork in them. I suddenly found myself apologizing to this guy for offending his wife and I guess that appeases him because he stood up and went back to the kitchen. I got completely hot like I had just gotten scolded for doing something horribly wrong. My face got so red and I felt so uncomfortable that I just got up and had to go sit in my car while my husband paid our bill. $54. We didn't even get but a few bites. This owner is crazy if that's how he thinks you treat customers. I am in this business. I felt like this guy would have tried to fight me if I didn't back down and apologize. This huge inflated ego, that honestly came off very aggressive, made our experience a 1 star. We both just sat in our car completely stunned at what had just happened. It doesn't matter how great your food is when your customers feel threatened and uncomfortable. Excellent Vegetable Spring Roll though. read more

Hubby and I visited Aroy Thai for lunch recently. We were kindly greeted and seated in a booth with very cushioned backs! We started with soup & spring rolls (part of the lunch special) and I must admit that the soup was extremely tasty. I ordered chicken pad thai and hubby got beef and broccoli. He was excited that the broccoli was really tender and the beef tasted great. My pad thai was flavorful with just the right amount of chicken and peanuts. Our waiter brought me a side of fish sauce to go with my it upon request! If you have never tried that, you should think about it! Our entrees tasted great! The lunch was good and extremely reasonable. If I recall correctly the bill was just over $20 for two people. We had one of the best waiters serve us! Easily the best Thai Food I have found in Mobile! We tried this neighborhood gem on Government Street last week and have been back twice. I'm a huge fan of the Kee Mow with fried tofu. The spice level is fantastic it has sweet texture and the vegetables are still crunchy! The tom kha coconut soup is to die for and comes in huge portion, easily enough the share. The sprint rolls are crunchy and full of flavor, the pad Thai is the best I have ever had. The portions are good sized but consumable with one person with a large appetite. The staff is personable, the food quick and delicious, and they have a huge parking lot. We haven't dined in but I'm seriously looking forward to eating from this place for a long time to come! read more

Absolutely disgusted with how the wait staff and manager treated a homeless vet who came in. He stated he felt unwell and asked if they had any leftover soup. Upon a very rude no we decided to buy him a meal. He also got a water and the lid was not on all the way. When some water spilled out the manager rudely approached him as to why he was spilling stuff on the floor and that he needed to leave. We informed him we had purchased him a meal and he was a veteran. The manager stated he made that decision to go to war and he was from a rough neighborhood in Brooklyn and had no sympathy. I was excited to see a new restaurant in this location and even more excited that it's a Thai restaurant. We went tonight for dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was amazing; the pad thai and crab rangoon was among the best I've ever had. The pad thai was very flavorful, and the crab rangoon was very creamy. I also ordered a papaya salad, and it was so refreshing. I'd order it all again, and am really looking forward to trying takeout, too. The service was outstanding here, too. I met my friend in Mobile, Al and wanted some Thai food. Neither of us knew where to go so we googled and found this place. We both loved it. The specialty drinks were really good. I had the "Thai-quila" margarita (basically a margarita with pineapple and a chili. It wasn't as spicy as I hoped but it was good. My friend had the "Muay" Thai punch and she enjoyed that. We had veggie egg rolls, crab fried rice, and a seafood medley soup, which was amazing! I could go there just for the soup. So tasty. "Joe" was wonderful. He greeted us and took our drink orders. We had a waitress who was not very personable. But another waiter and Joe helped us out after our waitress disappeared. Joe knew a lot of patrons as they came in and made it a point to sit and chat with everyone. The place is not fancy but the food is definitely worth coming in. This is very high on my Thai food list. Hands down the best Thai food in Mobile. It's not even close y'all. I live in west mobile and I'll still make the 20 min drive to Aroy Thai vs the 5 min drive to the other 3 Thai places on Hillcrest. They're ok in my opinion (except for Benjas.. I'd hardly call that Thai food), but Aroy Thai is where it's at. It's the only place that spices my food using fresh Thai chilies, the other restaurants use dehydrated chilies because they think Americans can't handle heat, which is kind of true, but that takes away from flavor!! First, let me state we were a group of people, maybe 12 of us. It was 94 degrees outside and the kitchen was probably ten degrees hotter! Consequently most of the house wines were served warm, almost hot. I had the fried tofu as an appetizer, and that is all it was... just tofu fried, no spice, no herbs, just tofu. I couldn't choke down more than a half one of the triangles, even after soaking it in the delicious peanut sauce served with it. The other folks had varying appetizers that they all enjoyed. I chose Sew-Wu, and it was delicious. Unfortunately I chose shrimp as the protein portion, and they were overcooked. But it is difficult to serve shrimp when there is a large group. The service was friendly, speedy, and very obliging. After our meal we had a tour of the large herb garden grown by the owners. Wonderful, healthy, organic herbs that they use in their own cooking. Next time - I want to eat THEIR food, not what they serve in the restaurant. Regardless, I will return when it is cooler and give them another try! read more
