Some of the best takeout Thai ever! Always sooo hot and twice I have ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it has not disappointed. My husband had sweet and sour shrimp and he couldn't stop raving on how good it was and how large the portions are. Aroy Thai has officially made me a fan of Thai food! I've tried a couple of other Thai places in the past, and was not super impressed with my meals. However, I decided to give this new place a try and I am so glad I did! For our first visit, we decided to place a carry out order. We started off with the steamed gyoza and the Tom Kha soup. For my entree I had the Pad Thai and I stole a few bites of Josh's Kee-Mow. The Pad Thai was extremely flavorful, and just the right amount of heat for me. Me and my boyfriend order from this place all the time and there food is very good. My issue is with a certain gentleman that they let answer the phone to take orders. I called to place my usual order today (8/12) pad Thai chicken with no green onions and after I tell him my name he says that's funny, I have an order from February with the exact same name and order that didn't get picked up. I say to him I didn't come pick up my food because the guy I talked to was very rude. He says to me so that gave you a reason to not pick up your food? What do you mean? So I'm suppose to get treated rudely on the phone then you want me to come pick up my food? Then it dawns on me that this is the exact same man that hung up in my face after I said I wanted to place an order then when I called back was being extremely rude like I was a burden to him. We order from this place almost every other week and I've given my name numerous times and not once has anyone said anything about this ticket. Clearly this man is holding a grudge cause I didn't pick up my food and it's pretty sad on his behalf that he's holding on to something from February. Maybe if the gentleman were more polite and not having a chip on his shoulder the food would of been picked up like it always is. I let it go before but I'm not letting it go now. It's just ridiculous. I will no longer be ordering food from this place because it's suppose to be about customer service and he has absolutely none what so ever. If you don't like your job you should find another. Maybe one that doesn't require him interacting with people. I wish I could taste the food there to give a better rating. But I never got past the order on the phone. The kid who tried to take my order was sarcastic and very annoying to talk to you. I tried to place an order to go. I told him chicken satay he said in a sarcastic voice okayyyyy. Then I tried to order pineapple fried rice and asked him if it still comes in a pineapple, and in the same tone of voice he replied yeahhhh? Then I told him I would like to have pork for the meat pork and he said (in a way that sounded like he was annoyed by my question) pork? What pork? What pork are you talking about? I just hung up the phone. My wife is thai and I live off thai food. Don't tell me I can't get pork in my fried rice, and make it sound Like I am an idiot for asking. I was so excited to see this restaurant opening in midtown. And after trying their food, I am glad they are here. If I could give a 3.5 I would. As another reviewer stated, I too found the pad thai noodles too sweet. Same issue with the Tom Kha soup. Too much sweet, not enough sour; the balance is off. But the ingredients were quality and the portions generous. I did reach out to the restaurant about this, and was thanked for my opinion. Perhaps the level of sweetness is a regional thing, as I have found things too sweet at other Thai restaurants in Mobile. Maybe allowing customers to choose how sweet, as well as how hot is the answer. This will not deter me from going back. There are a number of things on the menu I am anxious to try. read more

Ordered the Tom Yum with tofu to-go, and when I got home, there was only a few pieces of mushrooms and four pieces of tofu in the worst smelling broth. It was inedible as it smelled rotten! Really pitiful Tom Yum. Most places have tons of veggies and herbs in theirs, with a side of rice and extra sprouts and sauces to put in. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

I saw this restaurant being renovated and finally got to check it out! Did a quick takeout lunch and really enjoyed it. The hot basil chicken was delicious! White chicken breast with basil, garlic, carrots, green beans, onions, mushrooms and peppers. I elected for the brown rice with it. Lunch specials come with a small soup (3 choices) and choice of egg roll or salad. I got the egg drop and salad. The salad was the only disappointment, it was lettuce and shredded carrot. Wished they would have dropped a cucumber in there. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. read more

We had the summer rolls, hot basil and larb with ground chicken. Everything was fabulous! My husband did not leave a morsel of food on his plate. This says a lot because he is generally picky. You can have the spice level of your food tailored to your taste which is perfect for those who like it really spicy or mild. They do not serve alcohol but you can bring your own bottle of wine if you would like and you are not charged a corkage fee. We will definitely be back! So glad we found this place!! I've been dying to try this place after hearing great reviews from many people. I love thai food but have yet to find anything that stands out in Mobile, until I tried Aroy Thai. The food was incredible. We didn't have a single complaint about any of our dishes. I got the chicken pad thai and loved it. The pineapple fried rice was also very good and had the perfect amount of seasoning. We wanted to try the desserts but were just too full so we'll save that for next time. First, I have been to Aroy Thai many times and have been satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. But today was an exception. 4 of us went to lunch today. I ordered my usual dish, See Ew. Today, it was very bland, no flavor. I asked the server for some sauce. I was told that they had to make it. After a bit, I asked again and was told that they had to make it when they made the dish. After I didn't eat it, he brought boxes to us to bring home the portions that were not eaten. I told him again that I didn't care for it, that it needed more sauce. He took the box. Not one time did he offer to make it right. And then in the end, he gave me the ticket and I paid for my lunch. I won't go back. As many times as I have been there and supported them, the service was awful. I have never seen this young man treat anyone the way he did today. He couldn't have cared less that a paying customer was disappointed. Even the ladies I was with commented about how disappointed they were in the service and the fact that he didn't bother to make it any better.
