It has been three years as of two months ago that we received our brand new unit from ARS.. we have done all the checks and balances every 6 months.We had a checkup done as of six months ago we had to replace our compressor, which made absolutely no sense cost $400 today I this hot Texas weather the AC unit stopped working. We had someone come out. He says the water pump has went out on the system, which will cost us $1000 even with it being under warranty!! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! How could this happens with a brand new unit then he proceeds to tell me this is something normal and typical that happens with all their units and I was like if y'all know this happens with all your units shouldn't y'all be taking care of this issue so we don't have to pay this on the back end he did not have an answer .. I asked him about the person person that comes out twice a year. They didn't see the issue going on with the water pump. he says that he cannot say what previous technicians have done but as of right now it has gone out and we have to get it replaced. We are floored. We haven't even finished paying off the unit and now we have to spend another thousand dollars!! he says typically is $4000 but he can get it under $1000 for us. This is absolutely horrible. Do not use this company. I am going to make so many complaints. How can this happen? We are so upset to the point where we can't even think this should not happen and for accompanying that takes pride in the services and their equipment y'all are nothing but a liar because you don't. read more

We had a reoccurring issue of our washing machine drain line backing up and putting water on the floor. ARS came out and cleaned the line and ran a camera through it. Turns out we had a large run where the line sagged and held water. We also wanted to know if we had a main sewer line clean out and if not, get one installed. The young man said we did have one and it was separated and buried. He told us they could fix the sag by running another line down the side of my house and tying it in to the main line behind my house, and it would take 2 or 3 days (it took a couple weeks) and replace the main line clean out. I told him that would put the line in my neighbor's yard since that side of my house is on the property line. He told me all we had to do is get my neighbor's permission...."they do this all the time". I got my neighbor's okay and they dug a trench down the side of my house and across my backyard and laid the pipe. When the city inspector came out he failed the job because Houston doesn't allow you to run a sewer line through your neighbor's yard. His supervisor said she'd talk to the city and get it straightened out since "they do this all the time". They regrouped and said they'd tunnel under my house and replace the sagging line that way, it would take 2 or 3 days (this took two more weeks). We had to keep calling them to finish the job, on several occasions when we asked about them finishing the job, the persons we talked to thought it had been completed. When they finally dug up our main line clean out, it was there but not separated, they replaced it anyway. Sewer line replacement went well except the plumber left me with a crew speaking only spanish. My spanish isn't good enough to communicate with them. Had to ask the plumber to come back to get my question answered. They have a bank that will finance expensive jobs. Don't use them. EnerBank was bought by Regions. On day 14 they told me that I was going to receive a call the same day to schedule, but it was a lie. This company was very good to sell me $5,300 tankless water heater. They installed the next day after payment, but when it broke down after 1-year of use, ARS rescue rooters are a nightmare. We've contacted them too many times. Tried to schedule and they wouldn't show up. They still haven't provided the gift card, which was part of their little sales pitch. When the guy finally came he first asked me how old was the unit and immediately after responding, he says it's time to replace. Had not even been at the house for more than a minute. When I scheduled the appointment last week with ARS, I was told by customer service that the installation service for garbage disposal would be $280, and the $50 Home Depot coupon could be used--a total of $230. I called August 9 to make the appointment for 8/10/24 6-9 pm. The plumber, never showed up. I spoke with ARS customer service several times on Sunday, August 11th, and was told again that the service would get to my house on August 11 between 6-9 pm. Before installing the garbage disposal, the plumber stated that the price would be $532.40. I declined due I was told by ARS it would be $280 minus the $50 coupon. This guy was pushing, saying I would have to pay him to come to my house....... This plumber, Kyle, grabbed my old garbage disposal without my permission putting it into the box where I had the new one, and took it outside to his truck, which made it seem like he was trying to steal it from me. Overall, the plumber performed a poor-quality job. My sink still overflows with water, as it did before with the oldest garbage disposal. The same issues remain, and he did not fix anything. I have never experienced such lousy service before. I have spoke with the ARS account department, Mr. Richard to requested a refund. I will not call the Home Depot ARS services ever again. read more

I called on 02/18/2025 was given a window of between 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Nobody bothered to show up and when I called to ask I was told oh somebody will call you back I played that game until 7:30 p.m. after I called the next day to say nobody called or showed up and it was very disrespectful and waste of my time they have called me 3 times trying to see if services are still needed. They charged me $700 to replace a capacitor that was under warranty ($200 for labor & it took the guy 10 mins) plus $400 to add 1 lb of r410 plus $100 just to come out and check it out. 3rd time I've had to call them out since they replaced the system 4 years ago. Tech had no straight answers for anything. Spent more time sitting his van in my driveway than doing any work. He wanted to unclog the drain & clean the coils for another $700. BEWARE!!! My business had a gas leak, we Googled a few companies and "Gas Line Plumbers" was at the top of the search, appearing to be a plumber referral based company. We were none-the-wiser that it was ARS until we received confirmation of a plumber coming out between 12-4. No one ever showed up. We called 3 times and each time we were told they were coming and were on the way. The staff leaves at 5:30 and by this time still no one showed up. I called the number on the confirmation to ARS and was told they were still trying to get someone out to us. Then after much complaining and gripping, I was transferred to dispatch. After 15 minutes on hold I was told the appointment was rescheduled for 10-2 the next day because there was nothing they could do to get someone out. This was a gas leak! We would have called another company but kept being assured they were on their way. I then called back to the original number and asked if this was ARS or a plumber referral source. I was told it was ARS, which is very deceptive. I asked to speak with a supervisor (John ID #071839), he told me he escalated the call to the highest level of priority and someone would be there that night between 6-9. No one showed up. No one even called. As of 6am the next day, I got another plumber out who has already located and repaired the gas leak, and I still have not heard from ARS! They came out late August to unclog outside kitchen drain. Ground was very dry. Through drain clean process they used a hydro jet and a huge accumulation of water was created along perimeter of slab on that side of house. Water and grease seeped into the ground and absorbed by the slab. Other side of house ground stayed bone dry. Slab expanded like a sponge due to excessive water thus creating that side of house to settle or raise. A crack appeared right at drain up the brick to roof line. And interior Sheetrock ceiling is separating. NOW I AM STUCK WITH PAYING OVER $6000 to get slab leveled due to their incompetence. Tried to get them to look at or help in any way. A Troy informed me they will not help period. My attorney will be reaching out. read more

UPDATE 3: It's been one week since I made the first call to complain. To date, I still haven't received a call back from ARS. UPDATE 2: I received a comment asking for me to text him my number so he could reach out to me. I replied to his message and said we only have a land line. I've left 4 messages and asking me to text him is totally unacceptable and very unprofessional. UPDATE: I finally spoke to someone who connected me to a supervisor. They picked up the line and it disconnected! FURIOUS!! They had my number but never called back. I called AGAIN and this time I was told that all my information had been sent to the supervisor in charge of our account. They could not tell me that person's name just that he wasn't in and would call me back. They just keep giving the run a round. Had them come out to our company as the toilets weren't working. When they got here they informed us that we are septic (we knew that) and they had to get a different authorization to work on it. Finally after about 15 min. they got it. We told them we wanted new wax rings and to have a line ran through the pipes as my boss figured it was clogged since we had just experienced freezing weather for several days. They told us it would be another 30 mins before help arrived. When it arrived, they told us they ran about 40 feet of line and found nothing and insisted that our septic system needed to be pumped. We knew better but paid them their outrageous fee of $1,000. We have two toilets and they only ran the line down one. They did more talking to each other than working, in my opinion. The next day we have a septic pump company come out. The septic was NOT even remotely full. The nice guy used a water hose and pulled out a huge wad of toilet paper. Toilets working perfectly know. I called for a manager. I was told it would take 24 - 48 hours for them to get back to me!!!!! What?????? To date, it has been way over 48 hours and no return phone call. Wow, I'm actually surprised by the bad reviews. We've used them three different times, for three separate issues and each time I've had nothing but good experiences with them. The first time was almost two years ago, when we had to replace the duct work to our house. We at that point had it for about a year or so, when we made the decision the AC needed an upgrade. We found ARS through a vendor table outside of Home Depot, for reference. We knew our AC wasn't optimal, though our unit was new, so that was the best way to help improve the situation in an older building. Second time we called them was a few weeks ago, maybe 6 at the most, when the AC vent in our dining room was leaking. The ARS guy was diligent about Covid protocols and extremely friendly. He gave up several options, running price points for each thing. We chose what made most sense to us and fit within our budget. Third time our dishwasher stopped working. We thought it was a simple fix due to a plumbing issue. They came out tested the water and let us know that they couldn't fix it as the dishwasher essentially died. I appreciated that they were honest and gave recommendations about models to get and where to buy them. He didn't have too. So as you can see, I'm a happy person and even recommend them to friends. As long as the workmanship stands and the customer service is good, I'll continue recommending them. read more

We purchased an A/C unit from Home Depot in 2017 and ARS was contracted for installation. The warranty expires 2028. We decided to go with one of their membership plan to make sure that the unit and furnace were serviced properly. Has been nothing but a headache and a pain in the butt with this company. Every time they come out to perform maintenance check up there's always a new problem that involves higher prices. I feel that they are creating the problems and wanting you to pay for it. On Friday, 10/11/24, Jose Cruzado, the technician arrived to service the furnace. After going into the attic for about 15-20 minutes, the technician came down and told me that the only issue that he saw was the media filter needed to be replaced. I asked for the price of the filter and he quoted $131.00 but when I refused to pay that ridiculous price he said that he could discount it to $75.00. I agreed because I felt like it really needed to be replaced. I told him that I could have ordered two filters from Amazon at a much cheaper price. I HAVE DONE IT BEFORE‍ In the process of completing the paperwork the technician forgot to raise the stairwell which restricted me from getting to the hallway and laundry room. I couldn't lift it because I have some health issues that prevents me from climbing and during that time I was alone and had no one to raise the stairwell so I contacted ARS to ask if they could possibly send a technician out if there was one in the area of my home. The guy Larry apologized and said that he would have a technician to come and take care of it within an hour. Hours later no one showed up nor contacted me so I decided to call back and spoke with another customer service representative and she said that Larry never completed the order and she too apologize and completed the order and sent me an email confirmation. Later, I received a call from another customer service rep and he said unfortunately there was no one else available maybe until 9:00 or 10:00 that night or he could send someone over the following day which was Sunday. CHURCH TIME By that time I was truly frustrated and annoyed with ARS so I declined. I decided to try and climb the ladder and I end up falling off of the ladder and hurting myself. But I thank God that I was able to get the stairs back up in the right position. Monday I called ARS to make a formal complaint to the Satisfaction Team but was told that the complaint would be forwarded to that department and I would receive a callback from them. NEVER HAPPENED!!! I called back on Thursday and spoke with Margo. After sharing my experience with her, she too apologized and promised to submit complaint to the Satisfaction Team for a follow up and she would be calling back herself the following day at 2:00 PM to make sure someone from that department had called me. AGAIN!! NEVER HAPPENED. Their technician will tell you that your unit needs some kind of part replacement and then write it up under recommendation. Then you call to have another technician come out and they find nothing wrong with the unit. ARS are a bunch of price gouging, unprofessional liars and dishonest people. So that motto they are trying to sell about they care is nothing but a joke and garbage. I feel bad for the few good descent and honest employees they do have because sooner than later they are going to be corrupt and tricking for this company to. I really don't think it matters to ARS how many negative feedbacks or complaints is posted about them from their customers. They are immune to criticism!! I'm very unhappy with the service ars has provided when installing our HVAC unit. It was installed incorrectly and leaked carbon monoxide into our home for weeks before it was noticed and red tagged by the local gas company. It was negligent and put my family in danger. I have tried to contact the company representative for weeks with no response. I will be looking at my options to take legal action. I've reported to BBB and I will have my attorney draft a demand letter and start the arbitration process soon. read more

A 2nd opinion from a licensed HVAC friend that wasn't able was out of town , told me that once he didn't see that the control panel inside of the panel wasnt lit up then he should've instantly known that it was a fuse and he should've been in and out within 30 minutes of the service call. instead I was charged $86 for a fuse that cost $2. Prior to that I was charged 189.00 for them to cut a 1 x 2 ft hole in my wall to see if there was mold the on 4-26-2022. My window was 9-1 and they arrive at between 9-9:15am . They came out and the technician said that he can't move forward with a tune up because I needed to pay $300 for a part first. Then he says once the part is replaced, then he can do the tune up but there may be other issues because from what he sees I need a new unit. I declined. They just want you to purchase a new AC. Do NOT USE This Company. Stay away from ARS. Especially if you are just wanting maintenance only. I paid $69 for a technician to come and tell me all the reasons why I need a new AC. After I declined to pay $300 for a capacitor, he told me he could do nothing further and charged me $69 for a visit. He was only there for 15 mins. A complete waste of my money. read more

In the middle of the 105 Houston summer, my office A/C went out. My regular A/C guy was booked for a week and they suggested I contact ARS since they would probably be able to come out that same day. I contacted ARS and set up an appointment in just a few hours. That appointment time came and went and 4 hours after that I contacted ARS to find out where they were. The answering service told me "I'm sorry. We'll have to reschedule for tomorrow." An appointment was made from between 9:00am and 1:00pm. Another no show and not even a courtesy call. I called again and they said they'd be out at 2:00. At 3:30 they showed. The young man, (obviously not many years under his belt), took the A/C apart and told me my system was so old that IF he could find a part, the warranty would only be for 30 days. So he presented 2 additional options for new systems, $13,000 and $16,000. I told him I needed to think about it and I'd be in touch. He gave be a bill for $109 service fee that I had to pay right then. In the meantime my regular A/C guy called and made a stop the following morning. He was at my office at 7:45, replaced one small part that immediately started cooling the building, and was driving away before 8:30. His bill arrived in a few days for a whopping $250. I called ARS that day asking for a refund - that was August 30. I was promised a return call that day. As of yesterday, September 15 I still had no call, and I was calling them at least once a day. Late last night I get an email apologizing saying they just got the message yesterday. They also said they were refunding the fee but it could take 3-4 weeks to process the check. They are the worst company Ever. I will paint the picture for how they move so you can be aware. They have a telemarketer or some other ones call you and lie to make it look like you need a yearly maintenance checkup on your AC unit. Bial or Bio the salesman playing like a AC guy comes play like a supervisor and go in your Air Handler and pop your wiring or disconnect in some way and check your compressor and come back and tell you that you should change both units. That will be $16,000. You ain't no fool so you listen and know you just need him to leave because we not buying nothing because everything working. However, now everything is flickering, can't open washer, ect. Then they send Steve the nice guy who I actually like to butter you up and see your lights flickering and washer locked and tell you your problem only $300. Now we went from a $16000 worth of work being done to $300. Still they send Kenneth Dicky the top of the line electrician to come in and say I can't open your washer and nothing wrong with your lights and sorry we can come back and check again. So I have had ARS rescue rooter on a service contract for a few years. HVAC. This year they got rid of the service plan that I had and I had to change plans. Less coverage higher price. Imagine that I had my semiannual tune up for the heater. The unit is about 7 years old so possibility that a few issues are starting to show. The technician does his check up and tells me that the High Temperature safety switch is not working and that the Exhaust Fan is drawing too much current. 1.062 amps. Temperature switch replacement cost $503 because I have a service contract I get a 15% discount so $427 The Exhaust Fan $1,036 less 15% $879 We also had a weekend of very heavy rain and without going up on the roof he said that the vent system was bad. $1,200 less 15% $1,020. Total cost $2,326 quoted. All are lies. Funny I had been in the roof just a few days before and I saw nothing wrong.I went back up to check no problems. I have worked on Nuclear power plants s, Nuclear submarines and many refineries and chemical plants. I have a strong instrumentation background. So to the story. $427 seemed high for a limit switch. I went to a supply house and got a new limit switch. I replaced the temperature switch. I took the old one that I was told was bad and hooked it up a Volt meter to check the switch. I heated the switch and the switch changed from an open circuit to a closed circuit. The temp was within range of 150°F Showing that the temperature switch was working properly. I am not sure what the temp was but the technician had no way to tell me what the temperature was either. The switch cost me $21.60 There are two screws and two wires to the switch. $400 profit less labor charges. RIP OFF!!!!!! It took me less than 5 minutes to replace it. If you don't know how to go to UTube. While at the parts house I asked if they had the Exhaust Fan. They had one in stock my cost $350. However the normal current rating for the motor on the box was 1.06 amps. Any field instrumentation meter Unless calibrated yearly is not going to be that accurate 1.062 amps Vs 1.06 amps and not a test bench level of accuracy. The fan was not needed. RIP OFF I called the company and asked to speak with a service manager at 4:15 PM. No one was available. FYI they charge you $77.77 just to look at your unit. Also they WILL charge you double the amount of any other reputable HVAC company. I just had a guy named Bao Vo come out to check our AC unit as it had problems cooling the other night. He came out and said I needed a new evaporation coil and I would need to fork up $4520 before the discount. He assured me there was a leak and it was leaking water and freon. He assured to me that I would need to pay $1300 for him to tighten connections and add freon which was a waste and I should just fork up the money for a new e coil. I checked it myself and did not see this leak in the attic. Upon calling another HVAC company they confirmed there was not a leak, and an e coil should only run me $2000. The issue ended up being the AC working too hard and needing to "cool down" as our unit could be bigger to handle our demand. Magic A/C also quoted a new condenser unit (3.5T) with the evaporation coil for $4500. ARS quoted me $9900 for a condenser unit and evaporation coil. The last time I used their plumbing service for my Mother's house the man said "for all this work you will have to give me your youngest daughter" to my MOTHER then reiterated to me. Is this acceptable small talk? My mom was alarmed and uncomfortable as was I. My partner called them because they were the first HVAC service google provided and we were HOT. I feel as though they tried to cheat me with HVAC cost, and I felt objectified and uncomfortable with the mannerisms of the plumber I had an experience with through rescue rooter at my mom's house. If i knew he was having the same company as rescue rooter come out I would have told him to ask someone else. Alas, the HVAC guy came and tried to swindle us.
