Two things: 1. They charge $399 per pound of freon, so a 2lb recharge is $800. Also a condenser cleaning was $645. Got a 2nd quote from a local guy, he said condenser was good, recharged the system with 1.5lbs of freon for $100/lb! 2. They over schedule their techs daily. I get it, they want them to stay busy all day, but as soon as one customer says, ok let's fix it today--everyone else is getting canceled & rescheduled. Just be aware. read more

Tarpy heating and air sold their business to ARS. We had a five year service contract with Tarpy so they passed it on to ARS. Tarpy was a very reputable, honest, family owned company who we enjoyed working with however, ARS is the worst company I have ever encountered in my entire life. We were scheduled for our annual maintenance service on our air conditioning unit and the company canceled five times before they finally showed up at our Beach House rental property. Each time we made the appointment. I had to hire someone to wait at the house for five hours, so I think I paid more waiting for them to show up than the Service visit. Next, we had an emergency call because the unit they serviced two weeks prior and said worked fine. Stopped working. I own a vacation rental and the Guests were not happy to have the mini split air not working, so I scheduled a service visit for the next day however, the company canceled. They are the worst. I had a simple PVC pipe repair job that I needed, similar to ones I've needed several times in the past. The two local Fallbrook plumbers I usually use could not come out that day so I called ARS. In the past, these repairs cost under $200.00. The ARS guy looked at the simple job for 15 seconds and said it would cost $1200.00. I guess he thought I wouldn't know what it should cost. We spent $22,000 on a brand-new, top-of-the-line heating and AC unit and inquired about a service plan at the time of installation. We were told it wasn't necessary. Fast forward one year and three days later--a service light comes on. When we called to have it checked, we were surprised to learn we'd be charged for the visit, and the quoted price over the phone ended up being inaccurate. What stood out most was how indifferent they were--clearly fine with us using another company to service the system they installed. Guillermo (Memo) was fast and efficient. I had a Moen kitchen faucet replaced after the last Moen failed after 19 years. It went pretty smoothly until one of my angle stops dripped. He had one on the truck so I said do it but fainted when he told me it would cost me $325. I got a 10% discount I guess cause I'm a VIP customer with Tarpy Heating & Air (which they bought a year ago). He said the steep cost for a $30 angle stop was something about having to guarantee the angle stop or shutting the water off (which I did myself) - whatever but what can I do at that point? They got you. Either you do it or live with the drip. Anyway, even though it was almost $800 total (I bought the new faucet myself yesterday), I knew I needed a pro for the job and I got one. I was quoted a certain price and then , given an appointment for a free consultation. I waited many hours. Then a woman from Vista called and stated that after I waited all of that time that she would not honor the quote I was provided on the telephone. She then proceeded to very rudely tell me she would charge me more than $500 to have someone come out. I proceeded to contact a different company. They showed up within one hour and charged me half of what ARS wanted to charge me. I won't be calling ARS anymore. SCAM! Plumber said he needed a camera. Although he did not have a camera to look at what was clogging our kitchen drain. He had to wait for someone to bring one. They guessed that it was a broken pipe. They concluded that they would install a pipe on the outside of the house and may have to break up the concrete. Estimate is 20K to 30K!! I said "No". Paid their $99 fee. Called Bill Howe Plumbing after ARS left. Joshua showed up and snaked the drain in minutes! Only $96! read more

These people bought out a reputable local air conditioning company, who installed a new HVAC system just under two years ago. When I needed service, the phone number connected to ARS Rescue Rooter, who purchased the other company. The first trouble call took over a week to show up, and did some kind of reset of the system, which I have no idea what that was, since I had no debrief or statement of work performed since I was out of town and my daughter had to let them in. A month later, the system quit again, and I contacted ARS for another visit. They scheduled a week out, and I moved my work day to accommodate ARS's schedule. The morning of the appointment, I received no text alerts about the visit, so I contacted the central number, and was informed that they had cancelled (no notice!) and would have to reschedule into late July, 3+ weeks away. I asked to speak to a supervisor to voice my displeasure. He called back to book another appointment 5 days later. That tech did show up (who was courteous and knowledgeable) and diagnosed the problem as a failed blower unit, which is supposed to be covered by warranty. Unfortunately, the part needs to be ordered, and I was told to expect a return within a week. So, relying on ARS to do their job, again. Today, I contacted ARS, and the operator said they'd submit a ticket to their Parts Department and to expect a callback within 24-48 hours! Not happy with that response, I asked to speak to a manager. Again, the operator "filed a ticket" and I would be contacted with 24-48 hours! ARS Rescue Rooter is long on promises, but short on delivering on those promises. Avoid these people if at all possible. Meanwhile, I will be searching for a competent service that can actually do their job, on time, as promised. read more

have used a different plumber for years to snake our drain and remove roots once or twice a year. This time called ARS and was told on the phone that the visit would be 90 something dollars and so I asked if that was for the job to snake the drain. Then was told that when they call to tell me when they are coming I can ask for a more specific amount but I received a text with ETA. In the past we paid about $90 for the entire job. This time I am told once plumber is here (and I assume that means already $90) that it will be $289 just to snake the drain. Uncomfortably I agree and then the plumber basically finds nothing in the drain (our other plumber shows me a handful of roots usually). Next morning the shower drain is even slower than before the plumber came over. Called and schedule another appointment for later in day, but somehow I don't hear the phone ring although I have it right next to me (makes me wonder if someone hung up just before the ring or something because when I called to complain was asked to check my "missed calls") and there is no text either. No one came to door (we have Ring so would have it on video). Now waiting an additional 4 hours with phone in front of me hoping someone returns. Next time will use our old plumber (they are able to remove the roots and hair and not just push it all further down). If they don't have the proper equipment to remove roots should not have charged me $289. read more

After a couple of hours I called and they said that I did not call and it was too late. I asked them why I got the message the technician was on the way, if I hadn't called. I scheduled an appointment for June 6 , with ARS for an AC tune- up. The window for arrival was 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. They called in the morning to reschedule (staff shortage). Rescheduled to June 16, 2:00 to 6:00. At 1:00 PM they called to reschedule again (over booked). I canceled. I set aside 8 hours in my calendar that now have become an aggravating inconvenience. I had a very disappointing experience with Rescue Rooter Plumbing. I called them to replace my garbage disposal and was told there would be a $99 fee for the visit, which they later agreed to lower to $79. When I asked if this fee would go towards the cost of the service, they said no. I also asked for a general price range for the replacement, but they refused to provide even a ballpark estimate, saying they needed to see it first. Against my better judgment, I booked the appointment. The next day, their technician arrived (he was very polite and professional) and confirmed what I already told them: the garbage disposal needed to be replaced. Then, he dropped the bomb--$930 to replace it! For reference, a garbage disposal costs under $100 on Amazon, and the job would likely take an hour. I was expecting a much more reasonable estimate, closer to $300. I told them absolutely not and that I didn't see the value in paying the $89 site visit fee when no real service was provided. After some back and forth, including a call to their supervisor, they agreed to reduce the fee to $59. I left the interaction feeling taken advantage of and misled. They refused to provide transparent pricing upfront and then hit me with an outrageously inflated quote. I wouldn't recommend Rescue Rooter Plumbing if you value honesty and reasonable pricing. read more

This company is dangerous and I will not be using them for my family again. Because of their mistake, my infant and toddler went without heat overnight, and we woke up to a house that was very cold. Rescue Rooter recently added Tarpy, an HVAC company. Tarpy had come out to give us a quote for upgrading our system. Nothing was wrong, our furnace was working well. It was purely for a quote. The furnace did not turn on after that. It literally never had issues before. Thank goodness it was not a colder night. They also took over 4 hours to respond even though they caused this issue. read more

VERY! VERY! VERY! EXPENSIVE! I had them come out to replace a leaking faucet that I provided. They also replaced two under sink water lines. I needed the work now so I paid $1452 dollars for nothing basically. I had my toilet replaced and the pipe to it raised to make a better connection by another company and it was $485. I got an estimate of $552 from ARS and that was the toilet only not the pipe. Luckily I didn't need it now. ARS also quoted $2200 for a pressure gauge which I was able to get it done by another company for $795. They take advantage of you, so DON'T CALL!!!! They are not as good or knowledgable as they claim. We had stopped toilets on a Sunday with 22 guests coming over. They were the first to respond and show up. Sorry that I had not read the reviews or I NEVER would have had them. After snaking for over an hour, no success. Next day, Monday, they tried high pressure water, again it failed. Then someone with a camera found something, just it was not the problem nor in the area claimed. They then dug up HUGE area, killed bushes, and were 3 feet off from the real problem. The worker, Ruben,did a great job considering he was in wrong area. Finally got fixed, though I did not know that I had signed disclaimer to not withdraw or cancel within 3 days, they totally misrepresented that. Just got a letter that ARS/Rescue Rooter is who has been in charge of Tarpy for almost a year. So I wanted to make sure this review was seen here too. Used Tarpy, Now ARS/Rescue Rooter, to install my Condenser and HVAC system at my house a couple years ago. At the time I requested what it would cost to move the condenser so I could have the concrete redone. The tech assured me it would be only $350 to do that when I was ready. Since it was a couple years I expected it to be a little more so I was fine with that. They said it was $129 to come out and move over the phone, which I knew couldn't be right but continued. They missed both windows they gave 10-1 and 1-4 and arrived just after 4:00. The tech said it would be a little more as it was 2 trips and they were storing at my house. So I asked him to get me the proposal so we could get going. He worked on it and came back at $6,800 for the moving of the condenser! My condenser cost just less than that new! I was clearly not moving forward at that point so asked he to take off. I am posting this so anyone looking knows to be weary of the promises from the technicians as this wasn't even close and in fact was out right robbery. Damn I should of read the reviews prior to hiring this company. Lesson learned. I'm very aware that every time you hire a company like this you're getting over priced..... but when you have a leak you want to get professionals to inspect and if they find the problem to fix it and do the job right. The plumber that came was nice did the job he quoted $800 after a few "discounts " (again we were aware it was over priced) we agreed. He replaced 2 parts in tub; bottom faucet and tub drain. There was a hole and they needed to be replaced. That's the only issue that he could see that could be causing the leak. He did it in less than 2 hours. We checked the parts; Plastic cheapest crap $60 worth. Our original ones were actual metal decent quality. So $800.... that's all the receipt stated. So when I called to request a breakdown on the work done, parts, labor.... I was told that they only give flat rates no breakdown and that I had signed on that.... so yes I didn't read every single thing nor the fine print. I was a bit upset.... the "Nice" lady on the phone said "Next time read what you signed " .... Actually good advice, the only good thing out of this. Got ripped off, $800 for $60 parts. We had a brand new hvac system put in in September. In November (right before Thanksgiving) we noticed that the heater would turn on but would only blow cold air. We called on dec. 2nd and they came out that day but could not fix it, they had to get someone with more experience to come out which they did the next week. But.... he couldn't fix it either, he needed to order a part. We called the next week to see if the part had come in, they said yes and scheduled us for the 17th to fix the issue. They never showed up and we did not get a call. Because of the holidays we didn't get rescheduled until Jan 6th. When the guy didn't show up AGAIN, we called and the person told us he'd called out sick. So rescheduled us for the next day(7th). We called the next day because it was getting close to the end of the 4 hour block of time they tell you they'll be there. Person said he was running behind. The Person called back 5 minutes later and said no he was still out sick, so they rescheduled us AGAIN for the 12th. Guess what happened on the 12th? Canceled!!!! Until the 22nd. At this point we're beyond furious so we call quality assurance. Lady sounds very helpful and apologetic, but we're skeptical. Thankfully we live in SoCal, so the weather isn't freezing, though I wished I had ac yesterday because it was 86°. Now we're scheduled for tomorrow(16th). Cross your fingers. read more
