We just walked and waited patiently for over 5 minutes with nobody approaching us. My husband finally got the attention of one of the cooks who told us to sit anywhere. We sat for several minutes, again, with none of the employees approaching our table. This is the worst experience that I've had in Riverside and I have lived here for over 30 years. A Male employee walked into the womens restroom while my wife was in it. Spoke with the manager. Received excuses and blame. Arts Bar and Grill, no Man should be walking in on women while using the restroom. No excuse for this kind of behavior. Is it too much to ask for a knock? A sign that restrooms are closed? Quick side note. We watched the late night clean up. Door open. Floor wet sign. Clean up crew. My wife entered 10-15 mins after. Door closed. Restrooms open for service. I've been here for the past 10 years and the food has improved so much. The food was always good, but now it's better. Most recently I had the chicken fried steak. They don't have a phone and don't take reservations but if you go early you'll be able to snag a spot. Last nights musician was from the UK and was great! Performing original and cover songs. Came here last Thursday morning for brunch around 11 am or so. It was pretty empty, but they were friendly and told us to sit anywhere. One of my friends brought us here because it was one of her favorite restaurants. I ordered the country-fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash browns. My friends had the omelet and the avocado toast. The food was great and reasonably priced, however the service was super slow. We were in a hurry and it took forever to order and get our food. Our food came out and the country fried steak and avocado toast came out, but no omelet. Also, the waiter poured scorching hot coffee in our cups and it was so hot my friend didn't want any more coffee, and the other cup of coffee was overflowing and spilling. read more

I do have some minor gripes, that take nothing away from the place...The most serious is the parking...there's like 6 spots...the pizza hut will tow you, if you use there lot...where you supposed to park??? No draft beer...draft beer tastes better, they only have bottles, not a big deal. Lastly, i got a pastrami, and frankly, it wasnt too good. I would try something else next time, but so what? We have loved going to Art's, largely because of the customers, who are ready for conversation. The servers have also been a positive. Our last visit was not so great, however. The bartender at the inside bar served others before us, despite our having arrived earlier. The hamburger was way overcooked. I had the flounder platter. The flounder was good. Because only one side comes with it, I ordered the fries and paid $3 extra for an order of coleslaw. The fries were too greasy, and my little (4-ounce, maybe) cup of slaw was only 2/3 full. One gets only one 1-ounce cup of either tartar sauce or cocktail sauce with a dinner. More involves an extra charge. My cup of tartar sauce was only 3/4 full, causing me to run out. I hope the owner or manager takes a look at what's going on. read more

Had a great experience today, the guy eating next to us didn't pay attention to the sign as you entered that they are cash only so when he went to pay he gave his credit card and of course they can't take the card. So Art's is open again. We visited for taco Tuesday here was my experience for lunch at 11am. The waitress did her job, but she rushed us out too. The tacos are ground beef and had nice trimming but the salsa had no flavor at all. please understand I don't care for spicey salsa, but this one had zero flavor. The place feel clean and fresh. We didn't appreciate having to do a mass exodus when Pizza Hut threatened to tow our cars because of the lack of signs explaining about the parking situation between the two places. My last comment is the volume of the music, wow so loud the person beside you had to yell so you can hear them. It was 11am not 11pm party hour. It's so loud in there that it was a fight between the music an the patrons to be heard by their companions. I'll give it another chance, though, but just one. read more
