Ordered takeaway for dinner. Called to place our order, picked it up, but two entrees were missing. We ordered correctly, but order was placed by staff into system incorrectly. When we called to rectify the order, we were told it'd be another 45 mins to get our order as they were busy and shouldn't have taken our takeaway order in the first place (We'd already waited 45 mins for initial order). They said they couldn't rush our order correction either. Ugh. Poor customer service that left a bad taste in my mouth. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Sadly, it did not live up to expectations. I ordered the parrilla mixta with the purple mashed potatoes. It was tasty, especially the chorizo. No issues there. My husband ordered the 26 days aged top sirloin that came with kale and sweet potatoes. It was two pieces of steak, one of them overcooked, even though he asked for medium rare. It was more like well done. The sweet potatoes were hard and undercooked. We ordered the fried cheese appetizer and it wasn't anything especial, kinda like eating the bottom of a lasagna pan... I've had better fried cheese made by my parents at home. Caipirinhas were good, and service too, but our plates took a while to come out. The place is nice, great ambiance, though the single tables are tiny and too close to each other. I feel that for what we paid (over $30 per plate) we should have had a much better experience. read more

Take this for what it is worth. I have only eaten one dinner at stated "steakhouse". If you go for the FOOD, DON'T GO. I can't recommend the appetizer, the dinner special (steak), or even the dessert special (cobbler). None of it was bad, just not amazing. The appetizer was good, but I can get the same thing from the frozen food section of the Safeway. The dinner special was beef shoulder. Granted, shoulder is not the best cut of beef but considering the other choices for steak, the shoulder wasn't below par for section. They don't have the best cuts of beef. The shoulder was over cooked. Last time I checked, medium-rare was not medium-well but I could be wrong. The cobbler is missing something, I can't put my finger on it...it just didn't taste like a dessert. The beer on tap was good, in comparison. If you go for the SETTING, GO. Take a date, she will like it. The dining room floor is large and the exterior wall to the sidewalk/street is a roll-up garage type door. You and your date can sit by candle light in the warm(?) summer breeze, dine, talk and watch the foot traffic. I will have to test this place again. I am sure there is something one the menu that is up to par and worth the prices they are asking. I just haven't found IT yet! read more

Over priced and slow service. Walked in to the most smoke filled restaurant I've ever been in. 4 tables including us, Quinoa Bowl with Tiger Prawns; more like grilled shrimp with quinoa with to much jarred salsa. Would have been better less soupy and with fresh avocado or cream fresh for a cooling element. The other entrees at our table looked good but really would have appreciated our server coming back to sell us a second glass of wine. Once someone opened the back door and propped a window open the smoke cleared but our dog still was all over us when we retuned home because of the smokehouse smell! read more

My husband and I love this place - for the food. We have been many times. But be sure you have a reservation because otherwise the hostesses are very snobby. It was so off-putting last night that I don't know we can bring ourselves to go back again. The place had a very nice enviroment. Lighting wasn't too bright or dark. Spacious tables didn't feel crowded. Didn't really care for the ceviche. It wasn't balanced enough for me. The plantain chips that came with it were awesome though. The empanadas had a nice earthy flavor. I think the asado burger is described poorly. The peppers, though good, over power the rest of the dish. You can't taste the smoky pork, or the cheese. And when your not tasting those you get a burger smothered know pepper. Over all the experience was good. I'll most likely come back, but order something different. read more

One of the more high end restaurants on 6th ave, Asado was quite popular on a Friday night. Reservations are a good idea. The atmosphere was a little dark but comfortable, my only critique being that it was a bit loud. I wouldn't go with more than a couple people if I wanted to be able to hear any conversation. The beef and lamb empanadas were good but I would be curious to compare them with the butternut squash/quinoa alternatives. I had the salmon cakes which were pretty solid but could use a some more flavor, they came in a light buttery sauce and some pico de gallo on the side. By far the best dish was the gnocchi. Crimped as opposed to the typical round balls, they came in a succulent lemon and butter sauce smothered in a smorgasbord of vegetables. With zucchini, a delicious assortment of mushrooms, cooked pine nuts that melted in your mouth and crunchy macadamia nuts, this was my waitresses and my favorite dish. read more

Let me start by saying I love this place. I live out in Tacoma, and when I go out to get a steak I go here. The steaks are awesome and so is just about everything else that they have as well. The lentils are DELICIOUS, and the Quinoa Salad is basically a requirement every time we go. Also, on one occasion I had a bad cut of meat so the steak was sub par. I do not like to do this, but I told the waitress. They took it away and brought back a Filet Mignon...AWESOME. You do get what you pay for here, and it also is a really fun atmosphere to be in. Melt in your mouth quality steak! This is the first restaurant that we have reviewed that deserves 5 stars. And now we're going to tell you why... We started our meal with high expectations and all of those expectations were met. We ordered an appetizer of calamari frito and it came with 2 sauces, an aioli and the other what I believe was a mild mustard sauce of some kind.Both were delicious. We ordered 2 entrees - lomo with polenta which was absolutely amazing. I lack the words to describe this plate. The other entree was espalda asado with purple peruvian potatos. Both were delicious but still the lomo was undescribably good and blew the espalda asado out of the water. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum. There was a very unique and tasty fig sauce that accompanied the lomo. We both highly recommend this dish! The week before AJ went on a man-date with a friend of his and they both ordered the huckleberry steak, it was an item on the 2 week rotating special menu. This was my 2nd time coming here. the last time was a few years before and I remember liking that time also. The wait staff was nice, but our waiter pretty much disappeared after she took our order. There were other busboys that pretty much waited on us after we got our order. The food is just fantastic. I haven't visited many Tacoma restaurants since my move to Los Angeles about 10 years ago, but this is probably my favorite restaurant in Tacoma. I had the frenched Rib Eye with the Poblano polenta. My dinner partner wanted meat, so Asado was a natural choice. We popped in and sat at the bar. Usually, it is packed, but given that it was a holiday weekend, we were able to find space right away. It can tend to get a bit loud (and smoky from the grill), but on this visit, it was the perfect atmosphere. Not too much noise, and the wall of windows was up to let a little air circulate. Food: started with the Hoja Roja salad and the Grilled Romaine (from the fresh sheet). The Hoja Roja was the only so so part of the meal. Not a favorite, but it was as discribed on the menu. The Grilled Romaine was great. Crispy crumbled Serrano ham, corn, and just a hint of spiced walnuts. Yummy! We moved onto the Lomillo and the BLTE (from the bar menu). The Lomillo was great. They do meat well. The BLTE was wonderful, and exactly what I wanted. Eggs cooked perfectly for the sandwhich. Drinks: the Cachaca Sidecar was lovely. It was a great balance of booze and flavor. For wine, we ordered by the glass. The Grenache was a nice start, followed by the Malbec/Syrah blend. It was exactly what we were looking for, but maybe not for everyone. A little sweet, with no earthiness or tannins, so perhaps not the best pairing with red meat. Service: fantastic!!! Gina, the bartender was so great. Attentive, and a real pro! We had the chance to watch her make drinks from our vantage point, and she knows what she's doing. The perfect amount of conversation, without being intrusive. She was just delightful. The food selection is extraordinary here. I had the bone in ribeye and the chimichurri that came with it was delectable. Also, I highly recommend the Serrano wrapped prawns. Since everything else was so good I decided to be a little piggy and get the tres leches cake. To be honest, it wasn't nearly as moist as I was expecting. Went during happy hour, food was hit or miss, we tried a few things on the happy hour menu, only complaint is the chorizo crab cakes were very bland, i think the amount of breading was way too much and not enough wet mix/veggies/meat. Service was great , bartender was hustling as she ran tables on patio, 12 bar guests and 4 bar tables, being in the restaurant biz i know it's challenging when you have so many guests but she never let my drink get too low! I'm rating this place 3 stars due to the deliciousness of the food, and modern ambiance. I decided to try this restaurant during Tacoma's Restaurant week. The food is delicious, the decor of the restaurant is modern but the NOISE of the establishment is A LOT!!! The place was so loud, I couldn't hear my date and he couldn't hear me. The server seem uninterested in serving, it took him about 20 minutes to notice my date water glass was low. Also he didn't notice my cocktail was low nor did he offer me one right away. The lamb empanadas certainly made up for his fair service. Overall, food was delicious everything! Would I eat here again, maybe if Uber Eats delivered. read more

We love Asado and wish we didn't live 40 miles away. Any time we are down south in Tacoma we make it a point to eat here. The empanadas (both vegetarian and non vegetarian) are the highlight along with the surf and turf appetizer. The Serrano and goat cheese stuffed chicken is fantastic. Ordered a second beverage and she forgot so then later came by as we are wrapping up and comp'ed one... i paid with a gift card that the BMW dealer provided for buying a car. The total came up well shy of the total in the gift card. She went on and on about how i couldn't get less than what the value of the card was. I said no worries. The gift card was free so if it doesn't add ip I'm not really concerned about it. Wouldn't have been super bummed about it but I was with a very important client that had to go through all of this crap. Now he thinks I'm a cheapskate. All I can say is WOW! Asado restuarant's X group did a totally fantastic job with our party and we really gave the crew a challenge because of the last minute location change decision. They not only took on the task without any hint of complaint about lugging a grill and all their equipment up the hill to the new location, they knocked it out of the park! Right from the very beginning of the planning process, Erica was terrific assisting us with decisions and anticipating how to manage the event. The chef created a gorgeous, healthy and delicious meal. People raved about it to us...and with these folks who attend all kinds of catered meals, that's no small compliment. The serving team was very efficient, perfectly attentive, personable without being intrusive, and spot on. And then, like magic elves, all the dirty dishes and tableware were whisked away, leftovers boxed, and everyone disappeared into the rainy night after a long evening of work. How I loved not having to clean plates and glassware at midnight after a party! The whole experience was perfect end to end. I want to start off by saying this restaurant is very passable. The food is cooked well enough and the service is truly outstanding. Before I dig into this establishment I want to say that I believe the main chef was out and the menu had to be handled by the sous chef, and they were forced to figure things out on the fly. However, for this price point I expect something truly exceptional. The entire meal was lackluster, from the chorizo crab cakes to the mediocre dessert. I really wanted to love this place, the menu looks mouth watering and inventive, but everything falls flat, which is an immense let down. Had I had lower expectations and paid half, I would've probably enjoyed this place a lot more. As it stands, this comes out as one of the most disappointing meals that I've ever had, and disappointment is just about the worst feeling one can have during a nice meal. Meh. Maybe I just don't like Argentinian food, but Asado would not be my first choice for a dinner out. Service was okay. Bus-boy took my plate right as I had just "forked" a bite, and then proceeded to ask me if I was finish...huh? Well, awkward - no I wasn't finished, but whatevs. I had a really interesting cocktail that used a jalapeno-infused vodka. I would order it again. Ordered the lamb and beef empanadas. For some reason I was under the impression that it was a mixture of lamb and beef in each empanada. No, you get two empanadas and one is filled with beef and corn? Another is filled with cous-cous? and maybe some lamb... I didn't taste any. Husband and I didn't realize that we each had a different one, so we didn't get to try each one besides a small bite. A little odd, but the beef one I had was good. My pasta was yummy, but very one-note. It needed something paired with it to offset the heavy flavor of bacon. The cocktail helped a tad. Husband's meal was good. Prawns wrapped in bacon and peppers. The prawns were very large and yummy. The mashed potatoes paired with the meal helped with the heavy meat taste. Like previously stated - this is what my pasta needed. Overall, if some friends wanted to meet up for a nice dinner - I wouldn't protest going here. It was fairly good besides the bus-boy deal.
