Just WOW!! We were in the area to have dinner but the restaurant we had planned on going did not have a covered area to sit at, so we decided to try this restaurant and OMG! We made the right choice!! We had known about how good their nihari was and so decided to order that first! We also ordered their famous dhaga kabab and chicken tikka, along with fresh plain naan and puri parathas. Their nihari was served in a steel deep plate and served on a stove on the table to keep it hot! This was the highlight of the experience! They also helped us with our toddler, waving to him, recognizing that i needed the high chair moved and without me even telling them they came to help! We had a wonderful experience at Ashar's Kitchen when we visited with my dad and my mother in law. We ordered the paya, chicken tikka, seekh kabab, and Chapli kabab, and everything was flavorful, fresh, and truly enjoyable. What really made our visit exceptional was our server, Mohammad Ahmer. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, well taken care of, and enjoying our meal. His attentiveness, kindness, and genuine hospitality made the entire experience feel special. Came for their Sunday brunch $20/ person plus tax and $3 service charge (Service charge is the servers cleaning, refilling food and bringing out fresh naan and puri through out the meal). So for 2 people our total was about $49 So if you haven't had Pakistani breakfast it's greasy, spicy and heavy- just incase you decide to come in based on this review lol. Ashar's is known for their Nihari so if you come here don't leave with out trying it. Brunch consisted of halwa puri, biryani, egg parata, Keema, nihari, paya and chicken biryani. I like to take the sauce from paya and put a little in my nihari so Nihari always good. I am not sure how to review but I know what I was in the mood for and I got it. Overall liked this place. Their Maash daal was my favorite. Their garlic naan was delicious too. Their also samosa had great flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of their beef one, but it wasn't bad. Both were pretty small. Their chicken tikka masala was creamy and sweeter than I am used to, but decent flavor. I did not like their beef nihari, but not necessarily because i thought it tasted bad. I could tell the beef was tender. I just personally didn't like whatever minty herb was in the gravy. I think this place was a great option for the lunch. Ashar's Kitchen is a major disappointment. I ordered 1 Chicken Biryani, 1 Beef Nihari, and 2 Garlic Naan and it was ridiculously expensive. Anywhere else it would have been significantly cheaper. The $17 Biryani only had two pieces of chicken, mostly bones. Make matters worse, the $19 Nihari only had one mid-sized piece of beef in the tray - that feeds one person! You can go anywhere else; heck go spend $19 at a Pakistani Buffet down the street and get as much meat as you want. Will never be coming back. read more

I visited Ashar's on Hwy 6, Sugar Land around 12:15 AM and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered Biryani and Grilled Chicken. When the biryani arrived, there was an immediate unpleasant smell that clearly indicated the meat was not fresh. This was concerning and unacceptable. We then waited almost 25 minutes for the "Grilled Chicken." What we received was not grilled at all--it was deep-fried chicken. We asked for it to be packed to go, but when we opened it at home, the strong oil smell was overwhelming. Overall, the food quality was extremely poor, the order was incorrect, and the experience was thoroughly disappointing. This is not what one expects from a restaurant, especially at these prices. Was disappointing to see the non-apologetic attitude of management as if it was fine. Dirty water jugs added fuel to fire. Wish our Pakistani restaurant owners were more professional. Ashars kitchen was a excellent place for a SOLID pakistani meal. If you love Karachi's food you will not be disappointed. the dhaga kebab was fresh, moist, and fell apart just like back home. Flavors were on par as well! Now for the main course, the Beef Nihari was so nostalgic! The flavors were warm and bold, the texture was amazing, and the butter naan complimented it beautifully. There were several tables that came after us that were seated, ordered, served, and ate before we even got out food. The owners seem to favour some people over completely ignoring others. : Food: 1. Nihari was just OK (for the wait, which was one hour you'd be home and happy if you just went to Aga's) - and HA it was $19.99 4. $2 a samosa FOR JUST ONE MINI samosa ($6 for three) Service: While no one was rude, there was just complete apathy , not a single person cared that we'd sat at our table for 20 mins waiting to order. Our food took a full HOUR AND TEN minutes to get to our table - apparently one chicken drumstick took one hour to grill.... The waitress literally brought a burnt naan to our table, while at the same time apologizing for how it's burnt and she'll bring us another one, we didn't get it untill after we were done eating.
