Came here for the first time after my father-in-law recently tried Asia Cafe and couldn't stop talking about it, so our family decided to come together and experience their Chinese cuisine. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere felt casual, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed family meal. As vegetarians, we were happy to see several solid options on the menu. We ordered three vegetarian dishes: water spinach, kung pao-style tofu, and eggplant. Each dish arrived hot, beautifully cooked, and full of flavor. What really stood out was how balanced everything tasted. The food wasn't overly oily or heavy, which is something I've often encountered at other Chinese restaurants. Instead, the vegetables tasted fresh, the sauces were well-seasoned, and each dish felt thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed. The water spinach was vibrant and crisp, the kung pao dish had a nice kick without overpowering the ingredients, and the eggplant was tender and comforting. Portions were generous enough to share, making it ideal for dining family-style. Overall, we truly enjoyed the food, the quality, and the time spent together. Asia Cafe has officially earned a spot on our list of go-to places, locally.

Last review 2016; we're gonna round that up to basically 10 years later. That includes covid so there has been some changes. I decided to visit Asia Cafe to see if it would be a good fit for a car club visit. They do have tables for 8 with lazy susans for sharing. GF wasn't impressed a few years back when I drove way north to pick up food on Christmas while she worked a shift in a hospital. This visit she wasn't impressed with her entree choice again. But, I persevered knowing she would find a dish. First, the changes. No more screaming into the microphone! Instead, they ask you to keep your receipt face up so the number can be seen. Food is now delivered to the table instead of constant trips to the counter. This earned them a 5th Yelp star. I convinced her to try one more time; set the date for our final social of the year. Cold morning where we met in the parking lot for a quick meeting. Instead, we shuffled inside to wait for opening. We were offered a table instead of waiting in the front. Once opening rolled around I went up to order. Zhong Dumplings, Walnut Shrimp, Wonton Soup, Pork and Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Beef and Broccoli, and a white board special Lamb dish. Oh, traded a cupcake from another adjacent business for Crab Rangoon. I had encouraged others to order dishes if they wanted as we were a table of 8. Didn't need it; every plate didn't have a morsel left on the table. Staffers also brought bowls for the soup and small plates for the appetizers. Something they never used to do. LOVE Asia Cafe!

We came here with our family, and we really enjoyed the food! The food was very delicious and not too greasy which we really appreciated! Very convenient family style restaurant for families to come enjoy food! We will definitely want to come back!

Came here last night with a bigger group for a birthday dinner and this spot was perfect! We ordered a bunch of items and shared them which worked out perfectly since the larger tables have lazy susans to spin the food around the table. We all loved the clay pot eggplant dish, kung pao chicken, orange peel chicken, and the honey walnut shrimp. I wasn't super impressed with the fried rice only because it did not taste or look like they used any soy sauce when they fried it. It was still very white. This is an order at the counter spot but I don't mind that! Overall, very good experience.

Amazing food. Me and my grandpa went here for lunch, both of us being used to subpar asian food here in texas, were blown away by the quality and flavor of the food. Not to mention the amazing prices! We got two of the lunch specials, 8 dumplings, and two drinks that added up to about $45! The portion sizes were great too.

No frills restaurant with in my opinion some of the best food in Austin. The service is super fast and the food always comes out pipping hot! The garlic chicken is out of this world and our go to. We also tried the pork dumplings which were simple but so yummy (especially due to that sauce they drench over it). The spicy fish fillet was nothing special but a good option if you aren't in the mood for meats.

We tried this place a few weeks ago, and it was fantastic! Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. We especially loved the spicy dumplings and the fish--both were bursting with flavor. The service was impressively fast, making the experience even better. The staff wasn't super friendly but regardless of that highly recommend!

Very tasty! Staff was knowledgeable about gluten free. We got the Chong-chin chicken, jade chicken, salt and pepper pork ribs, and chicken fried rice.

Asia Cafe off Spicewood in Austin is delicious! I ordered the spicy beef soup which was so good! Authentic Chinese restaurant where guests were speaking Chinese; you know it's good when the locals eat here. I'll be back.

The portions are huge, the service is great, and it's a chain that I don't mind visiting a few times a year. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The Pappadeaux in NW Austin is very nice, there are many large, round tables, cozy booths, and it buzzes with energy. Thick, white tablecloths, wood panel walls, and Cajun music add to the atmosphere and transport you to a fine dining restaurant in New Orleans. Except it's 100% ok to be casual. It feels upscale and laid back at the same time. 1 Star. Service - Our server was excellent. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever had bad service at a Pappadeaux. Kudos to the training staff, because the servers are very attentive, polite, patient, and will customize anything for you. 1 Star. Food - As soon as you sit down, a nice, oven warmed bread loaf and whipped butter is brought out. Pro Tip - Ask for Scampi Butter to eat with the bread. My go-to dish is the Catfish with Beans and Rice, but on this visit, I went with the lunch gumbo/po'boy combo. I should have stuck with my go-to dish, because the seafood gumbo was too salty, and the bread for the po'boy was overly baked. The fried oysters were delicious, but if the bread roll isn't good, it kind of ruins the entire po'boy. But Pappadeaux has a great track record with me, so I consider this a one-off issue. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Pappadeaux is a chain the Texas. While I may not return to this location in Austin, I will continue to visit the many locations in the DFW area. 1 Star.

About 5-7 minutes go by and nothing. We started eating the crackers at the table because we were hungry. A male waiter nearby noticed we had not been helped so he brought us menus and said Ashley was our waitress and he would see where she was. Another 10 minutes go by and nothing. We noticed an Ashley nearby waiting on the 3 tables surrounding us and she never acknowledged us. She showed 1 table some dessert options, she assisted another table with to go containers, and checked on the other after they received their food. All while walking right passed our table multiple times. I kept looking around and we were about to walk out when Mark, another waiter, stopped to check in on us. He apologized about the wait. He said Ashley was our waitress but he would get our drink order started. I thanked him and told him we were actually ready to order. He then asked what we would like. We placed our drink order and food order. Mark was very friendly and professional. He said his tables were elsewhere but he would be taking over our table too. I was glad to hear. I'm not sure if this was a miscommunication issue or what but it seemed that everyone nearby knew we were at Ashley's table but Ashley herself. Interestingly enough, after the 3 tables near us cleared out, so did Ashley. We didn't see her again. Kudos to Mark!! He was observant and noticed we hadn't been helped and jumped right in. If it wasn't for Mark we were going to walk out and dine elsewhere. A manager even stopped by to apologize. He heard what happened and offered us a free dessert. He checked in against later to see how things were. Mark and the manager are a 10/10. The food was just okay. A bit over priced for the quality and portion. The bread was dry. 7/10 The Ceasar salad was so good! 10/10

We ate lightly as we were heading to a dinner holiday party. The appetizers were absolutely delicious. I got to speak with Chef Manny and and Carina, the general manager to gain some insights about the business. Mexican Cocina is based on the cooking method and seasonings. The foods can be cooked over fire, oven or in the stove. Their unique value proposition is that you can choose your seafood from the case and the restaurant staff prepares the food to your liking. The restaurant is very large with different size rooms for rental. For large party rentals the spend minimum is $1000 and during the week it is $800. The bartender was very friendly and attentive to us but the food was very disappointing. We started with the ceviche tropical, which is consists of shrimp and fruit/veggies. It was very underseasoned and did not seem to be well marinated. Moreover, the dish had a fishiness to it that was a turnoff. The chips served with the ceviche had oil collecting on them (see photo). I've had good ceviche in the U.S. and Mexico and this was not it. The main entree was the Tacos Nayarit (fish tacos). The portions of fish were microscopic and also lacked flavor. The Spanish rice served on the side was the worst I've had in a restaurant. It was wet, old and gummy (see photo). The black beans didn't taste bad but they were superheated as if they were warmed in a microwave. Overall, the food was pretty horrible. So very sad as I was hoping to find a good Mexican seafood option in Austin. I was told that this restaurant is owned by the same folks that operate Casa Chapala, where I have had great experiences. Hopefully this place will improve over time.
