Pappadeaux is an all time favorite for me. Any time I go out of town, I often find myself searching for a Pappadeaux location. When I have family or friends visit, they ALWAYS look forward to dining here. I can always count on my meal being fresh, strong drinks, a peaceful ambience, and the vibes at an all time high. The servers and bartenders at this location are courteous, fast, and professional. If you're looking for a nice spot for a birthday that isn't too formal, or a spot to hang out at the bar solo or with friends- make your way to a Pappadeaux near you. They also offer lunch specials 7 Days a week and a small happy hour menu that varies based on locations. ****Remember to subscribe to their email list, for a birthday treat

My wife took me here for my birthday which was back on the 13th but this was the first time we had to celebrate it. She had never been and my being Cajun she wanted to bring me here. I have had it before but it has been over 10 years since my last visit. The place is very nice, the lighting and the decor is spot on, the staff was excellent, we were seated right away and the person who seated us wished me a happy birthday, which was nice. Our waiter was fine, since Shana answered that it was her first time he stated he has a speech he had to give, he was fast and answered our questions but seem distracted maybe? Like he didn't really want to either be there or serve us. I don't know, but he gave off a vibe like he was annoyed, I don't know how better to describe it. We started out with a 4 piece of garlic bread which was amazing. I ordered a Cajun chicken tender and fried shrimp meal which came with fries and a side of dirty rice. It was very good, the dirty rice was tasty, the shrimp was good and the chicken tenders were excellent. They make the sauce in house daily and it was very good. Shana had Red Fish Pontchartain with dirty rice and she loved it. She was very impressed. SHANA SAYS: This place was awesome and has an awesome vibe. Very friendly staff (all of them, host, our waiter, other waiters) GREAT FOOD. Fun cocktail menu. Even the bathroom was very clean and they have a family bathroom. I once lived with a family who was Italian as I was dating the son and ate with them a lot, This is the best Garlic bread I have every had. She had an Espresso Martini and I had one of the special frozen drinks. Both were good. They had oars and a big crab in a corner near the ceiling and pictures of famous bands, I assume Zydeco bands though I didn't know all of them. One of my grandfathers was a famous Cajun singer, in the Cajun hall of fame and even played for a US President once, so I am always curious if he and his band are every up at one of the places but you can't look at them all. I am glad we came and the food was great.

My family celebrated my grandma's 95th birthday at Pappadeaux a few months ago. We had a party of about 20 people. My mom tried to reserve a private room, but it wasn't available so we had two large tables in the back of the main dining area. As we made our way to our tables, the entire restaurant applauded (my grandma had on a birthday sash and tiara lol). It was such a sweet moment and I wish I could have recorded it. I started with the Garden of Eden which is a vodka based cucumber drink. It was very good and refreshing and I enjoyed the Tajin rim. For apps we had Fried Calamari and the Crispy Alligator. I didn't try any of the calamari but I did have a piece of the alligator. It was good, but extremely salty. For my entree, I ordered the Naked Snapper. It was very flavorful, but unfortunately it was too salty for my preference. It came with sautéed spinach which I enjoyed. Our server David was really nice and did a great job with our large party. When it came time to pay, he was able to split the check three ways which was much appreciated!

Why only 2-stars...? Well, the 1st one is for the cleanliness of the place. The second star is for the fresh fries I received, and the old-skool jams that were playing. The hostess station had three staff members there. The one who sat me was nice, but the one who spoke to me seemed to not want to be at work. My server, Ian, was very pleasant - though I'm not sure where the disconnect happened with my order. Ordered the Filet Mignon. It was not what I expected. While it was cooked to order, it was too tough to enjoy. For $50+, this was a complete miss.

The raw Gulf oysters during winter months are always tasty and plump. They offer east coast oysters now also. The fried shrimp fried catfish, fish dishes, and Mardigras pasta were a big hit. We also had the crab and spinach dip, which had nice lump crab meat on top . Our server was really great-- friendly and checked up on us throughout the meal. The restaurant is spacious but doesn't get too loud even when busy. There's also a nice bar area with bar seating and small cocktail tables so this restaurant is good for groups and solo diners. There is ample parking and you can easily make reservations online on their website. I gave it 5 stars because Pappadeaux is good at what it does at the price point it is at. There is a wide range of items on the menu for all types of tastes and budgets. For its category of restaurant, I say it's 5/5.

Haven't been to this place in YEARS and thought I'd try them out. The food was good. We had the sword fish topped with lump crab and pine nut chimichurri sauce with a side of truffle potatoes. I give it an 8, only because that potatoes could've been a little more tender. The sword fish was GREAT and I love chimichurri sauce, so that was right up my alley. That sword fish was cooked to perfection. The waitress called it "The steak of the sea." I would've preferred a tad bit more crab for the price of the dish. The truffle oil mixed well with the chimichurri sauce. The potatoes were, to me, a bit under done. We also had the fondue which is a goto for me and the flavor was still as good as I remember. She had the new coconut drink and I had a 3 wheel motion, both were BOOZY and hit the spot. The crowd was on the light side and the game was playing for those who watch sports. The staff were laughing and tending to their duties, some even had good suggestions on other drink to try on our next visit. All in all, we had a great time and a good meal, then left satisfied and ready to hit the couch to have a movie watch us, because we definitely were napping after those drinks.

Always fabulous food and service! The Pappas family really know how to run exceptional restaurants! Outstanding decor but due to the popularity, it's pretty noisy. Definitely a repeater for us.

Daniela also known as Danny was our server. She was so friendly. We were seated quickly. Ordered food and it came out as we requested. We split several appetizers and entrees. They were hot and delicious. Since it was my 55 birthday the manager came over and offered a free dessert. This place always delivers on service and food.

So lets start with WOW! It is all 5+ stars. So what is not to like..... hummmm..... well... nothing. It is seriously all good. This is a great chain via the Papas brothers, any location will be a great dining experience. The ambiance is always great. Service is perfect. You feel cared for, not overbearing. The food is so very good. The shrimp and crawfish fondue appetizer is a rich delicious blend of full size shrimp and crawfish with a heavenly sauce with spinach and mushrooms. The garlic bread is flavored with butter cheese and red pepper flakes. Yum! It is so very sharable. Now to the main course. I love great shrimp etouffee and this is a great one. Side of scallops is the perfect add on. Try 2 blackened and 2 seared! You want an great meal bring your friends and come hungry. Savor the freshness and the flavors. And now the pièce de résistance- the desserts. We had the lime pie. Ohhhh Mmmm Ggggg! The veruat has pecans in it! Comes with a delightful selection of berries and candied pecans. Are you excited yet! I am!!! The wait staff are charming, professional, dressed to the nines in B/W with bow ties and appear magically seem to appear whenever you need them. Not kidding.. Travel, be adventurous, love and enjoy!

The food, the service and the ambiance are all suitable for a good date night or lunch date. The service was quick and friendly. The sticker price "depending " on what you choose to order can be a little expensive but it's worth it.

I visit Pappadeaux on Research almost every Friday, but after my experience tonight, I may need to find a new go-to spot. When I arrived, it wasn't busy yet, so I was seated immediately. However, I noticed right away that we didn't receive eating utensils upon being seated, which was unusual. That should have been my first sign that the night wasn't going to go smoothly. Service was incredibly slow from the start. It took a long time for the waiter to even come over and ask about drinks. Because of the delay, we went ahead and ordered our food and appetizers at the same time. My son ordered a Coke, blackened trout with fruit, and I ordered mozzarella bites, a frozen Perfect Patron, and water. The Coke came but no water. When I asked the waitress for my water, she acknowledged it but made sure to let me know it would be a while before my margarita arrived. By the time my drink finally arrived--right before my food--my son's fruit was still missing. I also realized that I still didn't have any eating utensils. I had to ask the person who brought the food to bring me some, which should have been handled long before my meal arrived. As I was about to take a sip of my drink, I noticed something floating in it. When I looked closer, I realized it appeared to have legs. Disgusted, I waited for the waiter, who took a while to return, and when I showed her, she casually said it looked like something from the lemon. I had to point out that yes it's something on the lemon it was a bug. She still did not apologize and just said she would get the manager. Meanwhile, my son had finished all of his food, and he's only 11. If you've been to Pappadeaux, you know the portions aren't small--so that tells you how long it took for the manager to come over. When she finally did, she also didn't apologize, just asked if I wanted another margarita. At this point, my son's fruit still had not arrived. When the fruit and my replacement drink finally came, the drink was on the rocks instead of frozen. At this point, I was over it. I asked for the check and mentioned that the drink was incorrect. Instead of apologizing, the waitress just said, "I didn't put in the order for your drink, but I can get you another one." Given how long it had taken just to get this one, I declined. Then came the worst part--when the waitress brought back the check, my card was missing. I was furious. It took her a good 20 minutes to find it, and when she finally returned it, she still didn't apologize. Nothing was taken off my meal, and after everything that happened--not even an apology. They truly didn't care. Despite all of this, I still gave her a tip. Honestly, I shouldn't have given her anything. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. I come here nearly every Friday and have never been treated like this. The service was slow, the staff was dismissive, and the lack of basic courtesy and accountability was frustrating. After tonight, I may have to rethink my Friday tradition.

Aged Beef Ribeye* I asked for rare, this is medium well.

I certainly hope they got more customers later in the day, because (based on my limited experience) the food, service, and atmosphere are all great. Freda's has been around for about 25 years. Longevity like that is earned. We opted to order from the lunch menu, which has enough choices to suit most people. I got the trout and shrimp ($19), which was nicely plated over seasoned rice and green beans. The lemon/butter/caper sauce was scrumptious. The trout was lightly breaded and crispy, and the shrimp (while slightly overcooked) were very tasty. The green beans were fresh and perfectly cooked. The overall portion size was just right. Before the meal arrived, a wonderful warm homemade cornbread was served with whipped butter. Service was excellent, and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The interior of the restaurant is on the dark side. There's a separate bar area, and outdoor seating is available in better weather. I look forward to my next visit to Freda's!

I'm guessing the Domain-adjacent location is why the pricing is so outrageous, because the quality sure doesn't match it. Service was basically nonexistent -- having to go to the bar to grab my own beer is a real turn-off when I'm sitting in a dining room paying sit-down prices. I'm certain I would have dozed off in one if we weren't called up. We sat outdoor alongside several other families with kids. We then ordered the following: Smoked Fish Dip Maine Crab Cakes Brussels Sprouts Fish Sandwich Lobster Grilled Cheese Lobster Pot Pie The smoked fish dip was good but nothing crazy. My sister had suggested the fried calamari instead, but my love of bread overrode my familial devotion. The dip itself was moist with no excess liquid and spread easily onto the provided cuts of sourdough toast. My only critique is that the dip seems like it's missing something, but I'm not food-smart enough to know what. However, because of my bread bias, this is still a 4/5. The crab cakes on the other hand were amazing. There was no excess oil soaking the fried crust and the crab meat inside wasn't over-salted, as I've come to expect from most crab cakes. These were highly enjoyable with bites of avocado and mandarin in between to balance the fried elements. 4.5/5 The Brussels sprouts were well-roasted, with a nice vinaigrette coating their crispy outsides. I expect this level of quality for Brussels sprouts from American restaurants at this point, so no surprises, just good in general. 4/5 Skipping the fish sandwich as unfortunately I didn't get to try them, but it looked and smelled great. I had one bite of the lobster grilled cheese, so take this particular review with a grain of salt. The smokiness of the cheeses sits on top of everything else without overpowering, while the lobster, bacon, and tomatoes provide a great mix of fat and brine. This is a lowbrow surf and turf between bread, and it's perfect. 5/5 Finally, we come to my own order, the lobster pot pie. Unfortunately, I shared this with the aforementioned sister and didn't get the full experience. The dish came piping hot and fresh, and the puff pastry was flaky and not overbaked. Internals-wise, I could see myself eating just the cream sauce like a chowder. It was perfectly flavored with veggies and herbs, with regular chunks of lobster. Not too salty and absolutely decadent, would not share again. 5/5 Overall, this was a highly enjoyable experience with fast, not rushed, service and an amazing spread. This is an easy recommendation for a family-friendly restaurant with lowkey vibes, and I'll forsure visit again when I'm back in town.

I'm so glad I stopped by here today! I was looking for black owned restaurants in the city and this…read moreone came up a few times. I also saw my friend mention it as the restaurant for her graduation luncheon so I figured it must be good! Lo and behold I met the owner Brandon and learned he's actually my friend's cousin! Small world! lol Brandon recommended the salt and pepper wings and shrimp since it was my first time and it was served with fried rice and a slice of bread. I really liked the crispiness of the food and batter that was used to fry it. You can taste the the flavor all in the skin. I would say the actual chicken inside the skin could use a tad bit more salt but also that could be a preference thing for me. I loved the jalapeño ranch dipping sauce which took the shrimp up a notch. The fried rice tasted like Chinese takeout rice which I believe the owner mentioned was part of the concept of the business, as it reminded him of the restaurant he had back home. I had a sweet tea for my drink which was really good as well, not too sweet. Can't wait to come back and try other menu items!

The tuna tacos (a special) were easily the best thing we had--so good they should be a permanent menu item. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful, and the $1 oysters during Saturday happy hour were an awesome deal. The Gulf shrimp cocktail was solid and exactly what you'd expect, while the burger was filling and a great value. Service was fast and friendly, and the whole experience felt smooth and easy. The ambiance is clean and modern with a relaxed coastal oyster bar vibe, making it a great spot for a casual lunch. Overall, a very good meal and definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

I had to get in some cajon food in this town…read more this restaurant is very close to my hotel and I have been eyeing it ever since I got here. finally, checked it out a couple days ago. i order the catfish gumbo which comes with 2 sides. I got beans with rice and the veggie of the day, also got a shiner bock beer for 5 bucks. total with tip was ~33 i think i gave 5bucks tip the fish gumbo was really good. i also really like the beans with rice. it has a slightly different flavor profile but also very good. i think this place is a hidden gem.... good portions, decent price, and easy parking, had to figure out another P for a triple P. i think this was better than when I got rip off on bourbon street, yrs back. that was straight up super expensive double charge the tourist stuff...

We tried to go to happy hour with my partner's parents, but that was only available in the bar area. Given they have some health problems to consider, we could not move over and hover over teeny tables to have dinner so had to handle full price. At full price, I'd give it a solid 3.5. Bumped to a 4 because this is hard to find around here. We got: - shrimp yoli (if you only order one dish, get one with this SAUCE. It's to die for. The shrimp had too much seasoning that it was a little choke worthy and I NEVER complain about flavor. Just lighten up a little!) - escargot (the butter was broken.. so it was kinda rough) -catfish gumbo (solid portion) -redfish add lump crab (while we enjoyed this, it was pricy for what it was) -shrimp and crawfish pasta (good) -orange crème brûlée (light.. not my fav crème brûlée ever but fun to try) - chocolate cake brownie with ice cream
