Food was genuinely so incredible. I've never had such an amazing broth balanced as well as these guys make it. My girlfriend got the Vegetarian Pho and it tasted just as good as pho with meat. I think it's important to update every once in a while as consistency is an issue in the industry. This place hasn't changed- they did downsize their menu some which is fine cause it was too big to begin with. I may be coming back for the pho here as my other joint fell apart-but I haven't tried it recently so don't hold me up to it. But what I do come back for all the time is their wonton noodle soup. Always good. Throughout the years, you can depend on it. My friend told me to try their nuoc mam fried chicken. Amazing. It comes out with onion, peppers and jalapeno. I order a rice plate or the pho tai depending on my mood. Lately, it's been the rice plates. After having returned to this restaurant to give it another chance I have dropped my rating by another star. This time we were promptly led to a table and given water and menus. Although there was only 2 other tables of people this was the last time they talked to us. Another single person came in and was helped. Then a large group came in and was helped. After about 10 minutes of just looking at the server hoping he would come back to our table we got up and left. We called ABC chinese and they delivered within 30 minutes, we have plenty of great leftovers and the price was really no different..... I've only tried the pho here, but it's probably all I'll ever order when I come here because I love it! It's my favorite out of all the places I've tried in the 3500 S area. Perfect ratio of noodles to broth, and they don't skimp on the meat. Ask to have your steak raw on the side, that way you can cook it yourself in the broth and it won't be overdone! A good friend, Terry brought me to Asia Palace. It is located in the old cafe of Kowloon that we knew growing up in Granger Utah. Walking in the cafe was like walking back into old wonderful memories of Kowloon Cafe. The decor, of course has changed immensely. The booths are still high back covered maroon and black leather. There are cityscape pictures on the walls, and mirror runs along the west wall. It looks very nice, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It was a wonderful quiet time with my friend. He ordered us Pho with everything, egg roll, and Thai Tea. The Pho had beef, tripe, something else, rice noodles, sausage, fresh cut green onions, white onions, limes, Jalapenos, Thai Basil, another herb that was long and we broke it into our Pho. We added chili, and Sriracha sauce to spice it up. The meat is served a little pink, so we dunked our meat into the hot broth to cook off some more. The egg roll was fresh, and crispy, the vegetable combination was excellent. An order consists of 3 rolls cut in half with lettuce garnish, and sauce. The Thai Tea was really good. The flavor of the tea is excellent, they make it with sweetener and add regular dairy cream. The drink comes a little bit layered, Terry said some places will actually layer the tea and cream. The creamy flavor of the tea was unexpected. I suggest you try it. The price for two was moderate. Next time it's my treat! Good food with longtime friends who have always mattered is priceless. Been wanting to come here for a while and today I finally had the chance to. With all the Vietnamese resto competition around the area, finally there's this place that stands out from the others. Their pho tastes so clean. Not fatty or oily at all. ... So good. I tried what the other Yelpers recommended which was the fish sauce chicken wings. This was a definite winner! Small little cozy place. I believe the food has great taste. The egg rolls are delicious and that's saying something since I order egg rolls everywhere I go, so I eat them a lot. The bbq pork is cooked really well. By that I mean it isn't over cooked, it's perfectly cooked and tender. Big size portion as well. Flavor wise it's okay, the sauce they provide easily fixes that. Been eating here since I was little, my parents know well with each other so we come here frequent. The food is the same as always, menu the same, but that doesn't mean that's a bad thing. I usually order a broken rice platter. They honestly make good stuff of that, no doubt about it. My grandfather especially like their Rice Soup and Duck with fish sauce. Problem with the restaurant is that it takes really slow just to roll out your food, but usually it's worth it but by the time it comes out, I feel legit lazy, usually a half hour. Cleanliness is decent, although some chairs are teared, it isn't that bad to wreck my food experience. I was turned on to Asia Palace by my tattoo artist - who is Vietnamese. We were discussing good places to get Pho and he mentioned Asia palace. I decided to give it a try and boy am I happy that I did, this place is simply amazing! I was previously going to Pho Hoa for all of my Pho needs which ironically is in the exact same strip mall, and the differences, although subtle, are extremely important and worth mentioning. Ever since our initial introduction, I will confess, I have fallen head over heels in love with this restaurant. Sorry Pho Hoa, we had some great times and some enjoyable memories but it's time to say good bye, it's not you, it's me. I still love you but there's someone else. On to the good stuff, Asia Palace doesn't serve Pho exclusively, it is an Asian restaurant meaning they serve Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, and even Japanese. And one would think a restaurant that strives to cater to such a broad spectrum of culinary needs would suffer for it, however that is just not the case. As another reviewer stated in their review, "Best Pho in SLC, but not telling." The broth at Asia Palace is flavorful, clear, and clean (as in not greasy). The accompanying ingredients(lime, cilantro, bean sprouts, hot peppers) they bring out with their Pho is colorful, clearly fresh, and plentiful. Of course, if you like to kick it up a notch, or several in my case, there is a handy bottle of Sriracha and a tin of Hoisin sauce at every table. I usually order the seafood Pho with extra noodles. But their beef and meatballs are equally delicious. I also highly recommend the smoked flat noodles. I order mine with chicken. Simply awesome! Every time I order these I am reminded of Cafe Trang back in the good ol' days when it was at it's old location and the food was much better than it currently is. Asia Palace also has a delectable Pad Thai and appetizers. Another profound bonus worth bringing up, that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet, is Asia Palace serves all of their drinks with crushed ice! I love a cool glass of Coca Cola in crushed ice. I honestly believe it makes your beverage taste better. Also, they offer free refills, which comes in handy when you are sweating like James Gandolfini in a buffet line from your spicy bowl of Pho or smoked flat noodles. Other places(Pho Hoa for instance) serve you a two dollar CAN of soda which I find extremely annoying as you have to pace yourself to insure your beverage lasts through your entire meal like a marathon runner conserving their energy. That is ridiculous, cheap, and unwarranted. And on top of all of this, on select nights, they will bring you out a complimentary bowl of hot, sweet rice pudding as a dessert. A phenomenal way to conclude a truly phenomenal meal. read more
