Typical Asian buffet. Nothing out of the ordinary. Went here recently for an early lunch after finding a coupon in the paper. It was only for $1 off (I'm easily tempted by deals). The big positive of this place is that it is VERY clean. Kudos to the owner and staff for keeping the restaurant immaculate. Some Asian/Chinese buffets seem to smell funny or look to have dead rodents in the corner, but not this place. The food was average. Some of it was pretty bland and/or not warm. Maybe it was because I came for lunch?? Some of the items were leftovers?? Me no likey. I wasn't impressed. I'd skip this place and head to Hibachi over on Mequon and Cedarburg roads. Found this place by accident, I would normally not go to a strip mall restaurant.... but - we've gone back 3x since! Large place: attentive staff, huge selection. Sushi, tempura, everything you could want including a salad bar. The coconut shrimp is excellent: not fried, but in a sauce that's to die for. Stuffed mushrooms, fried chicken, vegetarian dishes-- all above average for a Chinese buffet. Prices are low as well. Nice and clean. 110% better that the 'New China Buffets'. Grade: 2.2 This place has its up and downs. I've been here three times and each successive time, the experience has gotten worse. However, there are also some good things about this place. Food selection is huge for one thing; I have no complaints here. Fried chicken, coconut shrimp, clams, you name it, they will most likely have it. The sushi is not exactly sushi. The chef just takes a few shrimp from the buffet and uses them in the rolls. Other than that, they are just some California rolls with avocados OR pickle. There's no raw meat or anything like that. They also put some red stuff on the sushi now and then that I guess is supposed to resemble meat...? Most sushi is also with a lot of sauce. The hibachi is great. Where the place lacks is really overall freshness and quality of the food. A lot of the food, for example the clams, are cooked with heavy amounts of sauce/seasoning/other cooking juices to enhance flavor in order to cover up for the lack of freshness. While some taste good, the quality of the food is lacking. It is not the freshest thing in the world, although for the price, you get what you pay for. I recommend this place with 3 stars to help support their business, but honestly they can do better. Some of the food we ate were just seriously dried to the core and yet some were hot and fresh right out of the chef's cooking pan. They only have a few varieties of sushi at the sushi bar and nothing more. The salad and cold food area was untouched, though it looked very well kept. The fruit area seemed ok not much option but the usual. All in all it was an "ok" experience. The waitress accidentally put ice in my lemonade when I asked her not to but it's fine mistakes happens and I forgive easily. ^_^ As for the price, I guess it's reasonable (For lunch buffet that is). I'll go here again if there's no where else better to go to. Until then I'll just keep searching. ;) read more

This Asian buffet is outstanding! They meet some very basics standards that 95% of Asian buffets miss, like cleanliness, freshness and proper food temperature. Beyond the basics, the food is a fine example if Chinese cuisine. There are some surprise offerings, like tacos, pizza, sushi, and a custom hibachi dish station. You can treat yourself to soft serve ice cream for dessert or little cake bites, pudding, etc. If this place wasn't so far I would become a regular. My Irish grandmother enjoyed the buttered potatoes. Diversity and quality are two fitting descriptors for this buffet. Yum!! read more

Keep in mind that we are rating a BUFFET... not a 4-star top-notch restaurant. With that said, this is by far the BEST Asian buffet in the area. They have a wide selection of deliciousness! The quality of the food for a buffet was above average compared to the rest of the gazillion other buffets I've been to (maybe not a gazillion but more like 20-some in Wisconsin). Sushi: quality is much, much higher than compared to other buffets. If you take a look at their website, the sushi in real life really do look like that. It's amazing. Seafood galore: Crawfish, shrimp, clams, mussels, & oysters! - However I did go on a day that was "seafood special" so I'm not sure if they serve it on a daily basis. Meats: their beef isn't the lowest-of-the-low, cheap, chewy quality that most Chinese take-out or buffets have. It's a step above that. I really enjoyed their ribs; it was so tender that the meat fell off the bone. Misc note: Their apple pie is better than McDonald's apple pie. So, the food is good for the price you pay. read more

This is my kids favorite place to go when we ask what's for dinner tonight. Food is hot, fresh, and stocked regularly. Place is clean, and staff is authentic. Unless you speak mandarin you may not know what they are saying to each other. Sushi bar and hibachi are a must. We'll be back again soon, I'm sure. read more

Saw the sign on the street for Hibachi. Thought I'd give it a try, the hibachi is a joke if you're used to real Hibachi at say, Ninja. Its nothing like that. The Beef was great but the noodles and seasonings are kind of tasteless. The many chicken products we tried were a little rubbery, had to chew and chew. I'm new to the area so I figured I'd give it a try, but I won't be back. The service was good, friendly staff but the food could use more flavor. The jello and deserts were pretty good. But the Chinese and Hibachi were ehhh. And some of the strawberries were mushy. Probably from sitting out too long. Its worth trying out if your open. Its a good price for what it is :) read more

The buffet is no ad large as some of the other buffets , but the food is always fresh and tasty. I believe it to be one of the best around. It has a sushi bar along with the hibachi included with the buffet. You can also order off the menu if you should want something not on the buffet menu for the day. Surprisingly acceptable! Don't expect "real" sushi. If you want an okay California roll or something with pickle or a Philadelphia roll, then you're good. The Chinese food was great. I used to go there a lot but I stopped about 6 months ago. The buffet food always looked like it been sitting out for hours but that wasn't the reason. The sushi chef used to make my favorite sushi for me, he noticed that I would take almost all the California rolls and avocado/cream cheese rolls every time I visited, so he would just make me my own so he didn't have to restock the display. One day he made me a special roll, a shrimp tempura roll. When the manager seen it she came out yelling at me, saying "THAT'S FOR DINNER!", "THIS IS LUNCH", YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE THAT". So I told her that I would pay the dinner price for my meal but the yelled at me again "IT'S LUNCH TIME". The whole irony is that I'm being yelled at for something I never ordered nor did I ask for. I'm just sitting at my table and the chef puts a plate in front of me then the manager starts yelling at me for it, WoW! She always seemed mean but now I knew I knew she was. I think the sushi chef was fired, he wasn't there the next 2 times I was there so I stopped going. The only reason we kept going is because it's just a couple of blocks from out house and on the way home from my daughters school. My wife went there the other day with my kids and said she thinks they're under new management because "that mean lady isn't there". Last Sunday was my youngest daughters birthday and when I asked where she wanted to go for her special dinner she said "Asian Buffet and Grill", so we went. When I went to the sushi bar there was only 1 piece of the California roll left (I don't like the other ones they were making, I don't like the sushi they put out for lunch, I like the dinner sushi) so I asked the chef if he could make more, he tells me "in a minute". Now, I only go there for the hibachi and sushi, I can't eat the other food, too much sugar and MSG, makes me sick, but that never mattered, they have all you can eat sushi. Well, I waited a little over 30 minutes for the sushi, he kept walking around, looked like he was doing nothing, this upset me a little. Okay, I got my hibachi and sushi, then the bill comes and it's dinner, not lunch, because Sunday is dinner all day. At that point I went to the manager and asked if they stopped serving raw salmon, real sushi. We went to the sushi chef together and the manager asked the sushi chef why there was no salmon and the chef explained in Chinese that it's lunch time and salmon is a dinner item. So, I explain the the manager that it's SUNDAY and it's DINNER all day (I think they should both know that, duh). So he explains that to he chef and the chef says he'll make some in a minute, yea, I know his minute. Well, it was 45 minutes later when he finally started to make it, at that point I was already there over 2 hours and my daughter wanted to go home. So, now I get ready to pay and tell the manager all I had was sushi and it was the lunch sushi, I should be billed for lunch, not dinner, but he tells me that the sushi is now being made. I showed him the clock and told him I was there since 1:00 and it's now 3:30, he seated me at 1:00 so he knew I was there a long time. I told him I don' feel like waiting any longer. I want to just pay for the LUNCH that I had but he refused to take the lousy $3 off the bill. Now, understand, the $3 don't mean anything to me, I just wanted to know if they were willing to make some apologetic gesture but he wouldn't. So I paid my bill, I didn't get angry or anything, I was polite as I explained to him it would have been better to take $3 off my bill so I would come back again, now he lost a customer for life but he didn't care, wow, $3 is all it would have take to smooth things out. To make things clear, I never got angry at anyone, I was soft toned and polite, I had to be, I had my 7 year old daughter with me, we were there for her birthday dinner and I always strive to set a good example. HERE is one more point, all the people that went there that day for sushi, and there were a few, paid for dinner and only got lunch, not good business. So, I don't know if they're under new management, but they still seem mean and uncaring. I will say this, the food in the buffet looked better than it used to, they seemed to be replacing it before it shriveled up got nasty. Buffet City is just down main street in Brown Deer and they have the same foods, but you will be treated way better and they keep up on removing old food. The only reason my daughter wanted to go here is because they have deep fried cheese sticks, Buffet City doesn't, and it was her birthday, so it was her choice. In summation, time and time again, the food was always sitting around for hours all shriveled up and nasty. This time, and only this time, it was fresh, so I don't know if they changed their policy or management or I just happened to come on a good day. This place used to have a much better selection of dishes; however, last Saturday and was disappointed. Here is the reason why: 1. Fried shrimp in bread crumbs was too dry. 2. Ribs with bbq sauce was good but it have this taste like it was made early morning or the night before. 3. Clam in bean sauce is normally the better dish but for some reason, the look and taste of the dish was just old. The next batch was new but the taste lack something. When I eat the first bit I've noticed that it seems to me like the clam was cooked separately and is just being put in the old broth. Beside the ginger had this bad taste making the overall dish taste bad. 4. Sushi select is limited and there was no California rolls. 5. Chicken wing looked like they have been sitting there for a long time. Enough of the bad stuff, there are the good stuff: 1. Fried Green Bean is freshly made. There was still the crunch in every bite. Excellent job. 2. Pork in Mushroom was good too. However there was only mushroom no meat. 3. Dumpling is decent. Not the best but decent compared to other location. 4. Fried rice was actually fried rice (there's actually eggs). It's not yellow rice fried in oil with peas and carrot piece like many other location. My rating is based on the fact this place is a buffet (and not a mid-high end restaurant) so the rating is done with comparison to other buffet places. Although I am very open minded to explore food places, my past experiences with Buffets have kind of tapered my openness. I have wanted to try this place out for sometime since to this close to where i live. We ended up here since none of us could decide where to go and thought the buffet would allow for a wider spread for all of us who couldn't decide. So to review the place- Food- this place has everything from Sushi , hibachi , Chinese food to American food to pizza. I am sure many taste pallets could be fulfilled with their selection of food choices that are available. the vegie dishes were very fresh and were not over cooked or lathered too much with stir fry sauce. I love the crispy chicken with peanut sauce (would definitely go back for that). The other typical Chinese dishes (kung paw chicken, pepper beef, general taso chicken) are subpar with average Chinese restaurants in town. This place is wayyyyyyyyy better than the Chinese restaurant "Chen's Gourmet" which is next door. I did not try any deserts although this place did have a huge selection of deserts. I should note that like all other Chinese places the food does have some sodium. Ambiance - the place is bright/open and has a lot of light unlike a lot of other buffet places. While I agree with most reviewers this place is clean to the eyesight , when I was walking around the buffet tables I felt the floor was sticky and greasy. Made me wonder what else is hiding in there. I will say; I didn't have the buffet-- I ordered out. The food that we ordered was super soggy and only just too greasy for us.. The thing is, it was late ish on a sunday and they cooked my order fresh because I called it in. (At least I think that's how it's supposed to be... but would make sense if it had been grabbed from the buffet trays?) Anyhow... I also ordered sushi two times.. because at the time there was no other sushi places nearby. Both times I ordered a spicy tuna roll and a california roll. I didn't try the cali roll, wasn't for me but the spicy tuna was just... BAD. I have a rule to almost ALWAYS try a place twice because eh I mean, I guess you never know.. but the second time was almost worse than the first. Very clean and the food is yummy. Some days the food tends to be a little on the sweeter side when it needs a little spice but it is a nice buffet. They staff keeps it very clean and are quick to removed plates and refill sodas. Wish they had a crab leg night but totally my favorite Asian buffet in the area. read more
