Stopped in for dinner, it was very odd because they had Styrofoam plates instead of the regular heavy duty plates. The food was good, I had a lot of shrimp and the special beef. Tasted great. Service was great, our server kept coming by to ask if we needed more water. The only bad part, it is so loud because of children, screaming and yelling and crying everywhere. That's one of the only reasons I don't like going to buffets. Seems to always be screaming children. I wonder if it would work if they put all of the groups with children in one side of the building. Who doesn't like a great Chinese buffet? Asian king is one of them. The food is hot and fresh; there is something for everyone. If you can't find anything you like then you are not hungry . I like the hibachi, there's a variety of meat, vegetables, noodles and eggs to make your own creation. The servers are good at clearing the table and refilling your drinks. The restaurant is nice and clean, and I love the chandeliers murals and they play nice music. Look in your mail for Val-Pak coupons to save money. read more

The food was inedible. Everything kept being spit back out onto our plates. The fried fish tasted very literally rotten and anything else fried tasted like the fish did. The crawfish was dark grey on the inside and nearly liquefied and tasted rotten. The shrimp in the "Cajun seafood" was black in spots and the other shrimp was like leather. The Mongolian grill guy only cooked each plate for a total of 2 minutes and handed it to you half raw. The fruit was bad too. The only edible thing in there were the cream cheese wanting and they were mediocre. Ive made a report to the health department. When the employees were told they just laughed at us. This pkace needs to be shut down before they seriously hurt someone. read more

Well stocked buffet with all the Chinese favorites and staples plus many other items to satisfy any finicky children. Loved the dessert area. Asian King's soft serve was awesome, so creamy. Dear God if you're real, where do I begin? Have you ever walked into a restaurant and been genuinely worried you'd wake up sick the next day? No? Good for you. That just means you haven't eaten at this location. Me and the rest of my family exchanged the same disgusted glance after tasting most of the food, being generous to even go back for more. We left both hungry and too grossed out to eat, because all they had was absolutely rotten and nasty food. I mean- how do you manage to make a food that doesn't contain fish taste like ROTTEN fish? Other than their very small variety, gross food, and rude staff, who 90% of the time just stood around talking, the walls had visible grime and stains. They didn't even use their spare time to clean up, other than occasionally taking their cheap foam plates off our tables... And I mean OCCASIONALLY. We even tried to tell the staff about how half their sea food was GRAY and ROTTED, but they just laughed in our faces! Yeah long story short, they're in desperate need of a visit from a certain British chef, because he would be way less kind than us, and get the point across better that this place needs to be shut down. read more

Been going to Asian King Buffet for 10 years and they are still very good. We always go for lunch during the week. The food is hot and fresh. Make sure you go when they have a good crowd, which seems to be every time we go. Service is very good and friendly and clean. We get a senior discount to save some money. Inside is set up with all the usual buffet areas to pick from sushi, hibachi grill, salad, fruit and dessert. The main food buffet has everybody's favorite. Orange chicken, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli and so much more. They also have crawfish or crab legs most of the time. People love crawfish. I see piles of mudbugs on plates. So I placed a large order through Door Dash for Asian King. 15 minutes before everyone was to be here and before my food was supposed to be delivered, I got a notice that my order CANCELED??? So I called Door Dash and they called the Restaurant and was told that the Restaurant CANCELED MY ORDER??? YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD APPRECIATE A LARGE ORDER. I work late so I didn't get there until 8:30 pm and everything was old. They didn't put out fresh hot food for you. They were already putting the salad bar away and the chocolate fountain wasn't even on. I asked for some Hawaiian chicken and their response was that they couldn't cook anything else because it was already too late. Sushi bar was closed and no more Mongolian stir fry. So all that but they still want to charge you full price but you don't get the full service. If you plan on going there after 8:30pm, DONT. Love this Chinese buffet. They have Mongolian grill, which is my favorite. They also have vermicelli noodles, lo mien noodles, fried rice and steamed rice...which a lot of buffets don't offer this much selection. It's not a huge buffet but its still pretty good. Think of it as less items means they have more time to make those good than having a bunch of items thar aren't good. Quality over quantity here. Most of the items were good and hot. My biggest complaint would be even though it looks like they pay attention to when food is running low to refill, items like crawfidh and especially snow crabs...go REALLY FAST. And even though it looks like they refill it a lot... they come out with only a small amount at a time and there's already a line waiting to snatch it all up.. and it's really annoying. Because we're at a buffet...not black Friday shopping.. yet it looks like people literally fight over it. So my suggestion is when they do choose to refill... please refill more than just a bowl....that would literally feed two people.. and u got like 6 people waiting for it. Decently clean. The place was disgusting. Food was slopped over the various warming tables and looked ancient at 5 PM which should be the beginning of their Dinner time. The meats for the Mongolian BBQ were dried out and so did the seafood on the warming tables. I regret having eaten there tonight but over the years I've eaten here many times and it has always in the past been clean and the food fresh and well prepared. I was so disgusted that I deleted my prior 4 star review so as to not confuse anyone. I noticed the entire front end staff at the entrance were all glued to their phones and didn't ask how dinner was. Obviously the manager was either not on premises or was in the back. Perhaps they are short staffed and maybe folks are out ill. But I WON'T BE GOING BACK. Rating giving it a 1 star is over rated. I should have taken photos and I hope their health inspection is soon. Best Chinese buffet in the area. This place is seriously popping at all hours. I have gone during the week for dinner and also on the weekend for lunch and dinner. Not in the same day of course. There is a constant flow of people coming in and going out. The hosts are welcoming when you walk in and thanks you when you leave. The wait staff are adequately attentive even during peak times. The food is constantly refilled due to the high volume of customers. Oh yeah, speaking of food, they have a large selection. There's your typical sushi station, Mongolian Grill, three large hot food stations, and a boat shaped cold food station. The soups are pretty good here, especially the hot and sour soup. They have crab legs on Fridays and Saturdays. You'll see people standing by with their plate ready waiting for the next batch to come out. It's really not that great in my opinion. My favorite dishes include the fried chicken wings, mini Chinese BBQ pork ribs, salt & pepper shrimp, and fried calamari. They also have a five spice flavored baked chicken thigh that is so good. I keep forgetting to get the specific name of this dish. I can't get enough of it. I wished their other location in Watauga offered this. I look forward to it every time I come here. This place is HUGE. There are four dining areas and each section is quite large. They have plenty of tables and booths and can accommodate large parties easily. I've never had to wait to be seated. The parking area in the front can get tight, but I've seen people park at the back of the building and walk around. Went here the other day with my son. I was looking forward to it because of the crab legs and steak I had seen in the pictures. However, I don't know if you have to go on a certain day to get those, but they were not there when I went. The crab legs they did have were so small they were more shell than crab by far. I did not find any steak at all. It is a large buffet most of what I did have on the buffet was good, some was dried out or overcooked. they did leave their vegetables crisp in dishes which is not the norm for most Chinese food, so that was nice. I also noticed the price went up from what I saw on 1 of the pictures here. It is 15.00 per person. The service was good, our waitress was nice. The ambiance is what I would call a family environment. You know loud but there were quite a few people there. with that said I suppose if you want to eat to your hearts desire it was a decent experience. read more

I've given this place a shot a few times but between finding hair in food & when getting food I had an employee push me back in order to do her job quicker ... refill a tray that was already full because she needed to get the tray off her cart ... I brought it to their attention & they were very oh it happens and just took my buffet off the ticket. One of the things I LOVE is the garlic green beans theirs looked delicious smelled delicious first bit super crunchy like raw an the seeds inside just tasted wrong . I have to hand it to them for consistency. After staying away for over a year I found the food and everything exactly the way it was last time. I really like the Mai fun noodles but didn't see much else that I liked besides some grilled vegetables. The coupon I got in the mail didn't seem to make it a better deal. I may try ordering from the kitchen sometime to avoid the nasty people who eat straight from the buffet before they put it on a plate. I also didn't see hand sanitizer that was readily available. The meat sitting out in the made to order section looked like it had been been there for a while. A person made a short appearance there and left. I wish I liked this place a little better.
