Menu - the Chow Mein clearly says "dry noodle"

Usually this place is great, but only if you order something that you've ordered before. Today I wanted something different and ordered Chow Mein, and I got this abomination of a soupy mess that didn't even have a noodle in it...it came with rice. Wtf?? Call it whatever you want, but don't make the description "dry noodle" and then serve this mess.

String Bean w/ Chicken Szechuan Sauce - Delicious!

Service is Everything!!! Stopped in last night for dinner but the last time I was here was probably a year ago. Not for any other reason than I just haven't been. So why do I make the point of saying this?? Because my girl Nina!! Not only did she remember my first choice dish but the second choice as well. She proceeded to rattle off my entire party's favorite dishes like we had just been there yesterday!! Well that's damn impressive in my book. I settled on my favorite first choice of Chicken and String Beans, extra spicy, my friend had Pad Thai. The food always comes out fast and delicious! Nina made sure we had everything we needed as always. The prices are very reasonable and the food is very good, there hasn't been anything on the menu I've tried that I didn't like and the service is amazing. Ask for Nina, she's always on point. The crispy beef is awesome as well.

Thai spicy garlic chicken and shrimp with brown rice

Place is clean, and service was prompt. The food was just ok. Probably didn't help that i recently went to an incredible Thai restaurant and got the same thing...so the comparison was fresh. I went with the Thai spicy garlic chicken and shrimp. Not too much spice to be found, but ordering the extra red peppers helped with that. The sauce was a bit sweet for me - and I'm typically a fan of sweet and spicy. Just didn't seem to fit here. The portions were generous. The shrimp were also a good size. I prob wouldn't get that again though. Not a bad place, just not great either.

Well, as I was eating my shrimp fried rice and it was very good until I bite down on a hard piece of plastic or something and almost broke my tooth!!!

Hot Crispy Beef

In the past this was my preferred Chinese food restaurant in Owings Mills, unfortunately my most recent visit was not as good as I'd hope for. My go to is the crispy beef (the soup choices are great when under the weather). I placed my order on the phone and arrived about 10 mins after ordering. My food was bagged when I arrived so I make the assumption it's just finished being prepared. I live roughly 5-7 mins away. Hungry, I wash up and prepared to eat within mins of arriving home. The rice, perfectly cooked. The beef was neither crispy nor as enjoyable as I remember (soggy and awfully sweet). This was my first meal of a long day so I eat until full. Preparing for an early day the following morning, I head to bed and about four hours later I wake with a horribly upset stomach. I don't know for sure if the food made me ill, but since is was the only meal I had it will probably take me awhile to forget this experience and want to return.

Pad Thai

I am in town for business, craving some Pad Thai. This was the closest place I found. It has ok reviews, decided it would be worth trying. I can say it is the first time I've tasted mainly lemon. The sauce was watery and strong lemon taste. Not the usual dark peanut sauce I am use to. So I can say I've tried.

So i unraveled a piece of plastic in my food after ordering thai spicy garlic chicken meal. The way the plastic was twisted up it looked like a sliced vegatable or onion. Ended up chewing on it than examining it and its a piece of plastic. I feel like this was planted in my food to blend in. I will never eat at an Asian owned restaurant ever again. Seem to only have these issues ordering Chinese food.

This is my go to spot for Chinese and Thai food in Owings Mills. They're not as spectacular as they were when they opened several years ago, but it's better than the other Asian restaurants in the area. I've never eaten in before, but that is an option in the separate dining area. My favorite dish is the General Tso chicken which comes with ample chicken and fresh broccoli. Sometimes the chicken can be too fatty, but you can request white meat chicken if you like. I also enjoy the Moo Shu Chicken. Today, I'm ordering the Shrimp and Chicken pad thai and Hot Crispy Beef. Both come with a side of white rice. For an up charge, you can great fried rice or lo mein noodles.

The sweet vinegar and herbs balance it perfectly. Perfection. That's saying a lot since I'm a meat lover. The shrimp is delicious, and the chicken (Neighborhood Bun or Bowl) is brilliant. The egg rolls are also delicious. If you can handle a little spice, the Red Beans and Rice are great, too.

While we waited for our food, many continuously piled in to order or pick up their food. I'd recommend calling in your order a head of time because they get pretty backed up, but the food is well worth the wait. I got the Tofu Brah bun and my mom got the chili noodles with pork and a side of rice and beans. All of the food was so flavorful and the portions were generous. The bun itself was so light and fluffy, and the tofu was crispy. They didn't skimp on the pork in the chili noodles - about half the dish was really tender pork. The rice and beans were nice and spicy too and my mom loved them! This is more of a grab and go kind of place, but there are two outdoor benches and some countertop seating inside

We walked in and asked if they were still serving Dim Sum and were told yes and saw the carts with the foods we love going around the restaurant. We were sat in the back by the kitchen. On the table there was a plate and a fork no chopsticks for us but on other tables we saw chopsticks. No cart came towards us. The waitress brought us soup on the house, crunchy noodles and tea with an American Chinese menu. Asked what we wanted and we said we came for Dim Sum (2nd time we said this) she responded it's coming. So we waited patiently. Then she came back with a dim sum menu and a cart. Offered us chicken feet and some pork dumplings and we told her we wanted the Pineapple buns and shrimp dumplings. We also showed her the stuffed crab claws and shrimp balls from the menu. She said the cart was coming around. Then came back and said she put the order in for the crab claws and shrimp balls. We thanked her. Then they came back with the cart and offered us chicken feet and pork buns. Then tried to pass the pork buns off as pineapple buns. This was not the first time we have had dim sum and told her no, and repeated what we wanted including sticky rice. They seemed to be annoyed cause we didn't want the pork buns. Not five minutes later they came back and said sorry no more dim sum. While we were waiting patiently we saw the carts with the food we wanted going to other tables, some of these tables were seated after us. My friend got annoyed because she has been there many times with her son and has always been treated like a valued customer. We were very disappointed because we were looking forward to a delicious lunch of dim sum. But were treated like a step child so we left. Not sure if we will go back or not. We don't mind traveling up to an hour for dim sum, which we have done many times. But we were excited to have a good dim sum place in our own backyard.

SU ordered Kung Pao Shrimp, her "go-to" and every Asian restaurant, and compares each one to China Garden's version. Her verdict: Modern Asia's was "OK", and she told me I could eat the leftovers for my lunch. I did. My verdict was the same: OK, but nothing to write home to Mother about. (My comparison, BTW, is to a restaurant we enjoyed in Ithaca New York that made Kung Pao with peppers that would flay your face from the inside if you dared to eat one. Modern Asia's didn't even tickle, making it a let down). I ordered Seafood Combination Chinese Yellow Curry, a new dish for me. It was yummy. Described as one-pepper spicy on the menu, it had less heat than the Kung Pao, but the curry sauce had layers of flavor. It featured shrimp, scallops, and calmari plus a wonderful mix of peppers, onions, and other veg. All were nicely (crisply) cooked, even taking into account the Door Dash delivery time. I really enjoyed it. Next time I may ask for a bit more heat, but as it is, I hoovered up every morsel. Try it - you'll like it!
