2.5 stars. The food is ok, my boyfriend lives walking distance of Asia kitchen so we decided to give it a try. The first night we got an order of drunken noodles dinner takeout. Was way too expensive for the portion size considering (docked a star) I'm used to heaping amounts of Thai takeout in Cali. The drunken noodle sauce was also super runny and ran through the paper bag in which it was packaged (docked another star). The taste was good and spicy. They really need to up their game when it comes to dinner though. I was very disappointed for the $11 we spent. The lunch special was better. Asia kitchen was actually packed while I was there for lunch so I had to wait for a table. By the time I was seated, the place was empty which was nice. The servers were a little on the oblivious side and I had to ask for water, menus and forcefully place my order. I wish they were a little more attentive (docked half a star). The portion sizes were much better. I ordered a chicken fried rice for my boyfriend and a lo mein for myself. It tasted pretty good and the price was just right for $5.50. The place itself was a tad bit tacky, but they had clean bathrooms. It was a meh experience, hopefully it will be better next time. read more

There are many Chinese Restaurants in the Owings Mills vicinity. I didn't notice Asian Kitchen until the Quiznos just a few stores down closed. I've been a few times and the food is SUPER yummy. My personal favorite is the Cashew Chicken. It's SO delicious. One order is enough to feed about 3 people. Also, I loved the shrimp toast and the steamed broccoli with chicken and shrimp. I've only experienced Asian Kitchen's take out. There is an eat-in dining section. However, it's very small and lacks ambiance. It might be nice for a quick lunch. Overall, I loved everything that I've ordered from Asian KItchen and would highly recommend them. The only thing that I was disappointed about is that they don't offer delivery. We did not have a good experience here. We live right across the street and saw this place so many times, and finally we had a chance to try it out for dinner. The place is incredibly cramped and crowded, which isn't a huge deal for me. The problem is that we stood by the "please wait to be seated" sign for at least 10 minutes. The obviously super-busy and stressed wait staff walked past us over and over, not even looking at us or acknowledging our presence at all. After 10 minutes of feeling completely ignored by the staff it seemed obvious to us that they didn't want our business, so we found a similar restaurant nearby and we will not be returning to Asian Kitchen. That other restaurant we found is excellent, both service-wise and food-wise, and it's become "our place". There is a restaurant almost exactly like Asian Kitchen in Montgomery County where we're from, and we never had any kind of negative experience. It's a shame that we never even got to try the food, since according to most of the reviews here, the food is pretty good. Honestly, I am not one to get offended easily, but I felt totally invisible standing there like an idiot waiting for someone to notice us. When my husband finally got someone's attention to ask how long the wait will be (we were the only ones waiting, and there were a few tables available), she looked at him with some kind of blank stare, then continued on her way to wherever she was going. At least seat waiting customers at one of those empty tables and bring them some water, that's the least that can be done in such a busy restaurant. We felt unappreciated and unwelcomed and those 2 things are the complete opposite of the way a restaurant should treat its (attempted) customers. read more

Updating my review. Found a damn worm in my food. THANK GOODNESS i didnt eat it. I called back and whoever i spoke with on the phone described the worm to be before I explained it myself. She said they probably didnt wash the veggies all the way and offered to make me another one. Uhh no mam. Im good on the Hunan Shrimp & Worms. So i drive back to get my money, and this mustve been a different lady, so i explain it to her, and put it up to her face so she could see it and asked for my money...she gon turn to the side & cover her mouth to talk to whisper to the other woman (as if i understand their language anyhow), then they both started laughin a bit. Then the cook came up and theyre holding a full on discussion while im just standing there idle....then she gave me my money back. Asian Kitchen is nestled in a neighborhood shopping center along with a Quiznos and a Dunkin Donuts. While not big on ambiance, this Chinese-Thai fusion gem deserves to be recognized. Asian Kitchen is in two parts: a small entry with a couple of tables, an open kitchen and a condiment bar designed for take-out orders. To the right is a semi-private dining area that seats an intimate crowd with the restrooms towards the rear. The chairs are moderately padded, the tables are utilitarian and the decor typical (red and white Chinese Zodiac place mats, big ornamental fans and faux flowers). However austere, the place is spotless - including the restrooms. Service is friendly, not familiar (no writing their name in crayon on the table and other such nonsense). My glass was filled without having to ask and the dishes came out in good time. I think you can tell a good Mexican restaurant by the salsa and a good Chinese restaurant by the soup. I had the Chicken Tom Yum soup which was divine. This broth based delight carries the notes of basil, lemon grass and ginger with an intoxicating hit of spicy Thai paste. Mushrooms and skinless chicken breast strips swim around accordingly. My husband had the Hot and Sour soup - a staple that can be extraordinary or disappointing. Hello, extraordinary! For the entree, I chose the Goddess Chicken: all white meat breast gently battered along side an assortment of bell peppers and red chilies. But the crown to this dish was the sauce. A perfect yin/yang of sweet, sour and spicy. The husband had Chinese Fried Rice which he assured me was good (not my particular favorite). Dinner was so delicious and satisfying that I forgot to ask for chopsticks. I cannot comment as to the beer/wine list as we drank only water, and our dessert that visit came with the bill - the ever present fortune cookie (not as tasty as the ones from PF Changs but just as fun). Woohoo!!! Some of the best tomyum in town, same with tomka with shrimp my all time fav. Try their Chicken or beef in black bean sauce... TDF! Totally enjoyed this dish extra spicy... they add jalopenos fresh cut (might be too spicy for some but perfect for me). Their triple delight is also a grand dish... and they never skimp on anything! Had their Thai curries as well (green n yellow) and pretty authentic in taste. Drunken noodles and the house fried lomein and rice are great go to dishes. Try their spicy wontons... Super Yummi!!! I frequent this place even if I live 40 mins away... I craved their awesome food and have brought my visiting families time and time again to this same spot. Can't go wrong because their dishes have never dissapointed and its a win-win recipe they always keep to. And service??? Love it #1!!! I have been a customer for 5 years. Always a pleasant service and delicious foods. My order is always ready when I get there and fast delivery when I order in. My faves are their Singapore rice noodles, beef fried rice, Singapore fried rice, crispy beef, and they are the only place I'll ever order Beef and broccoli from. They give you lots of beef not just broccoli. I also enjoy their vegetable spring rolls and cheese wontons. I loved their Thai food and it was a lot of food for not that much moolah. I was however very disappointed that they don't offer Thai iced tea :(. Asian Kitchen is has great options for both Chinese and Thai cuisine. What is nice is that it is both a take-out place but you can also eat in as well. The first time we tried Asian Kitchen we actually ate there. As we were looking over the menu, we thought that it was a little pricey for Chinese cuisine but after we got our meals the price was more than worth it. You can actually get one entree to split for 2 people which since it was our first time we did not know that. We both were able to take home half of our meal for lunch the next day. This is my favorite place to eat in Owings Mills. I've been going here whenever I'm in the area for over 7 years. The same group of people work here and they recognize me whenever I come in. My favorite item, Kung Pow Chicken, has no filler (just chicken, peanuts, chilis, and sauce). The alternate version Marengo Delight includes shrimp inside the Kung Pow chicken. This place does not make your typical Chinese and Thai food. It spins off the common dishes and may add or subtract an item to make it their own. read more

My husband and I ordered take out last night from here for the first time. The staff are super friendly and it smelled amazing. If only the food loved up to the smell! I love Thai food so was excited to see they had some and ordered the drunken noodles. Not only was it completely bland, but it also had zero heat (supposed to be a very spicy dish). The orange chicken could be better. I like the flavor of the sauce, but it doesn't really stick to the chicken and it's too watery and the chicken gets soggy quickly. Maybe the batter coating the chicken needs work as well as the sauce? I also tried the Chicken Thai Spicy Garlic and the Chicken Lemongrass and I did NOT enjoy the flavor of those dishes. I'm not sure if it's that I don't really like Thai food or just those particular dishes. This is one of the small establishments in the area that is a popular choice for "Asian" food for lunch. The staff is pretty friendly, and the service has always been decent. Dishes that I have tried and were good: Pad Thai - I haven't had many Pad Thai at other places, but when I do, I always compare it to here. It's fresh, not heavy, and they give you plenty for the lunch portion. Shrimp Lo Mein - The noodles were cooked perfectly, and I think they give you a decent amount of shrimp for the lunch (under $6). Shrimp Fried Rice - Just like the Lo Mein, it was pretty good. Can't complain. Egg Drop Soup - Not bad. It wasn't too salty, or too watered down. The thing I like about this place is the food isn't saturated with so much oil (at least the times I've visited), that you can't taste anything but, which is great. I give Asian Kitchen 2 stars because the menu is more "con" fusion" than "fusion". You cannot call yourself a Thai restaurant if you can't cook Pad Thai. Not even close. And the Tom Kar (aka Tom Ka Kai) soup was a mixture of many flavors, some distasteful - result, this is not Tom Ka Kai. The drunken noodle/Chinese style dish was delicious, otherwise 1 star would have been appropriate. Suggestion: remove Thai items from menu and do not call the style of food Asian Fusion.
