My wife and I went here for our anniversary while on vacation. We loved it. I got the market fish which was red snapper. It had a great sauce and nice accoutrement. My wife had the flounder which was also very good. The soup of the day was a cream based seafood which I would highly recommend. The atmosphere was excellent and the service was more than adequate. From the delicious food to the excellent service from our waiter Mark, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this restaurant. I would go so far as to say that this was probably the best restaurant we've visited (from Wilmington to Myrtle Beach) since our relocating here in 2018. The friendly ambiance at this restaurant is reminiscent of a 5 star restaurant in New York City. Primarily offering a steak, seafood and chops menu, the appetizers and entre selections were unique and delicious. The specials or "features" as they are called here, were also outstanding. We found this awesome place because of Yelp. We made a reservation and was seated promptly. Our server, Mark, came over and was very knowledgeable of the menu and helpful. Our appetizers and salads came put quickly. Everything was perfect. The meals came out and were very nicely plated. Appearance was clean and pretty. The meals were tasty and perfectly seasoned. This was the best restaurant I had ever been. I ordered the French Onion soup and Filet Mignon with Cheese Grits. The soup was amazing, meat was cooked to perfection and had the best taste. I was recently on vacation with my family and decided to dine at Aspen Grille. On Tuesday 4/6/21, I walked into the restaurant at about 7:55pm and inquired if they could accommodate a family of 5. The hostess and Manager (who happened to be at the front), advised they could seat us if we came back at 8:30pm. She(Manager) then inquired if I wanted to make a reservation for 8:30pm and I agreed. The hostess took my first and last name and my telephone number and booked a reservation for my family for 8:30pm. In the words of the manager(female who was wearing a sequin white sleeveless blouse and white skirt), and I quote; "Yes come back at 8:30pm and I will have a table for you." I left the restaurant and waited in my car with my entire family. At 8:29pm, my family and I got out of the car and proceeded into Aspen Grille. Walked to the hostess who had previously booked the reservation and gave her my last name. She pulled it up in her system and then looked at me and said, "due to an unforeseen shortage in staff, we cannot seat you." The hostess's best suggestion was for us to wait in the car, indefinitely, for a phone call to determine if we could be seated. She then stated, "Well, I know you were just here and made the reservation but(with an anxious stutter and babble), I cannot seat you". To the hostess: you had multiple missed opportunities for a come back. Before we even returned to the restaurant at 8:30pm, you had my phone number and could have called and tried this; "Mrs. XYZ, I am sorry we proceeded with making a reservation for 8:30pm but we did not foresee an available wait staff for that time and may not be able to accommodate you for a seat down dinner. We will be more than glad to take a to-go order or you could wait until we are able to secure a wait staff for your family. Do keep in mind that we close at XXX time. I wanted to keep you in-the-know so you make a well informed decision with dinner plans for your family tonight". To the Manager: When your hostess came to inform you the 8:30pm reservation had showed up, the least you could do was come to the front and do the aforementioned. I could tell from my humble beginnings as a waitress and hostess from yester-years, your hostess was not well trained to manage the issue at hand. You sent her back to us instead of either requesting we stay put and you will address the matter or immediately come to the front. As a manager, you should have known the availability of your current wait staff and table load. You cannot predict how long any patron at your restaurant will be at a seated table but what you can predict is seating availability based on your algorithmic workflow. I question your connection with your wait staff. It was only then I was cognizant of the lack thereof the diversity of their patrons! I queried and still query the role it played. read more

Both had excellent flavors and cooked just right. My green beans were just a trifle- over cooked, but all was delicious. I would return. When order a glass of wine, they pour the wine in little carafes then into your glass They lined up the little wine glass carafes at the end of the bar after pouring the glasses of wine for each customer. A lady next to me ordered a glass of wine and the bartender used one of the used carafes to pour her wine then into her glass. The other bartender saw my look of disgust nd asked what was wrong. When I told him the other bartender reused the carafe and replied "no big deal nobody drinks from them". I answered back if nothing else, you're mixing wine and its just not sanitary. The bartender just walked away. For a pretty high end establishment, this is not acceptable. read more

We opted to do a tasting, Chef's choice. Every dish was savory, well-presented, fresh, and of high quality. The exec chef and owner, Chef Curry, was very friendly, as was the entire staff. I travel a lot and dine all over the U.S., and have to say, Aspen Grille was a real treat. Exceptional staff, delicious food, excellent wine list, and great ambiance... My first 5 star rating for Myrtle Beach. Absolutely nothing negative about our experience there. Chef-owned, terrific interior and ambience, clean, friendly greetings and welcomes from all the staff, terrific service and, of course, outstanding food. The cold, marinated shrimp salad app was well-balanced, tender and fresh-tasting. Lobster bisque was terrific. I usually don't care for sherry but it really rounded out the bisque in a subtle and delicate way. My veal medallion entree with sea scallops and shrimp could not have been any better. Others with me had a chicken dish and sea scallop dish they equally enjoyed. My $8 glass of malbec was also great. Shame on you if you leave Myrtle Beach without trying Aspen Grille! read more

Nice live entertainment although slightly too loud for a small dining area. It was still very good. Our server was very helpful as my wife almost always picks two or three items and asks for the servers recommendation. His suggestive techniques were both tactful and spot on. I had the lamb and my wife had the catch of the day. We also had a beef tips appetizer, French onion soup and the house greens salad. For dessert we had the sour cherry pie and the German chocolate sundae. Every item was very good and the presentation was excellently done. My only suggestion would be regarding the flatware. Though my lamb was very tender, the knife I had was very dull. Not a major issue. We highly recommend this restaurant and will return again. And as a side note, my wife is a Customer Development Specialist with the largest family owned wholesale food distribution sales company in the Midwest, Canada, New England and many southern states (soon the Carolina's). read more

Went for a much needed date night. The place is much nicer inside than you'd guess from the strip mall type location. Had fried green tomato and caprese for appetizers. The tomato's were the best I ever had. Husband loved his French onion soup. The waiter was patient and even encouraged my favorite thing- substitutions! I ordered the crab crakes and added mushroom risotto and asparagus to make it a meal. It was magical. Husband had steak but couldn't finish it all because he was too stuffed. What a great experience! My family and I were in Myrtle Beach for New Years and on New Year's Day we went to Aspen Grille (Our second choice bc the other restaurant I found was closed). I'm so glad that other place was closed. Everything was perfect. Due to the unfortunate circumstances that the world is in this restaurant made everyone very comfortable. Every group was spread apart. Waaayyyyy apart. The waiter wore a mask and so did all other employees. The waiter was perfect. He had energy and knew his stuff. I got the scallop risotto. It was to die for. I would get it every time I go. My husband got the prime rib which was cooked to perfection. My son got the salmon (yes i ate some of his food too) and that salmon was AMAZING. My mom got the risotto and got the shrimp and grits (she thought it was the first place that had small plates. Lol). The shrimp and grits were great to me but she wasn't so pleased. She thought they were salty. Shrimp and grits are one of my faves and I'm pretty critical. These really weren't that bad. the reason it tasted salty was due to the sausage cooked with it. If you at the sausage and grits you wouldn't think about it. I thought they were great and will probably get them the next time we go. This is great place with great people. Our server Dee was absolutely wonderful. She was extremely friendly and offered good suggestions and based on that we had the specials for the evening. Then we were seated in a side room next to an 8 top. Plus we couldn't hear the musician. The table was hooting and hollering, they were laughing super loud. That's ok, but we could not hear each other talk. We asked if we could move to another spot because I saw two open booths. The manager flat out said no way could this be accommodated. She wasn't understanding or compassionate at all. This made things super awkward. We already ordered drinks and an appetizer, but this made me want to leave. I felt like we were being punished for asking to move. I decided to take her to another place. So I paid and we left. However the food and drinks were very good . I called in and got a wonderfully pleasant young lady on the phone who helped me setup his birthday dinner. My brother and his wife raved about the food and the ambience, the chef owner even came out to take a picture with him and wish him a happy birthday. I have included a couple pictures (they will make your mouth water). I do have to say they helped me with this surprise while I was in Vancouver, so the next time I will go try them for myself. Don't let the strip mall and outside fool you, this place is legit! My wife and I wanted a high end date since we don't get away from the kids that often and this place will now be our go to. We both had two glasses of wine and a main course with two sides. The only negative is I wish they had told me the main courses came with sides because the additional family style sides were not needed. But, the brussel sprouts were amazing! My wife had the scallops with a crab cake addition and she could not stop talking about the crab cake for three days. I had the lamb chops main which was two double chops and they were perfect. I am not a lamb fan but at this place, I am! Paired with a vegetable medley and a potato tower that is amazing. The environment inside is very quaint and cozy which adds to the experience. Friends Birthday Dinner on July 1st. How this restaurant can claim to be a "Low Country" restaurant is beyond me. The food was a major disappointment, from the appetizers to the main course and the wine was overpriced. I ordered a wonderful sounding app of "Goatcheese stuffed Figs wrapped in prosciutto. The figs were not ripe and the prosciutto was low quality and salty. We ordered the pork chop back, sent it back, it was cooked to death, impossible to even cut it, the shrimp and grits was bland and tasteless and the shrimp was over cooked. Enjoyed dinner for restaurant week in January 2016. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, brisket, and apple crumble. The tomatoes and brisket were well balanced, expertly prepared, and a delightful appetizer/main course combination. The apple crisp was much to sweet for my taste and wasn't edible after a few overly sweet bites. I'm going back for certain, but will skip dessert next time. Was there about 6 months ago (before covid) and it was well worth the cost. Skully & Alan took great care of us. We usually go there maybe 3 times a year when at the beach, but this visit was just not up to par. I will only go back if I stop in and see Alan or Skully. Do not recommend otherwise.
