I ordered their seafood combination w/calamari, jumbo shrimp, Clams and mussels over a bed of linguine with marinara sauce. My wife had their Egg plant parmigiana . Both was very good and filling. All our orders came with their French bread w/butter not as good if you ate it fresh there. Still everything was very good and tasty . I Noticed at the Kahala location their menu is a little different than the other Assagio location . For example their appetizers they carry Escargot . The other locations don't sell them . I think since there's new management, I've noticed the pasta is really oily and buttery even when I've asked several times for way less. I'm sure some people like it this way but I always get queasy after I eat their pasta so need to remember to order just their salad. It's more Chinese style where they add heavy oil and just add noodles. I think it's this location and Ala Moana. I'll try another location and hope for the best. read more

Always been an Assagios fan, but lately the portions and quality have gone completely down hill. The meatballs are half the size from a year or two ago, amount of vegetables and just overall quality has gone downhill. Prices have increased and sizes have gone down. I understand costs have gone up, however you should never increase price and decrease size. Sad to say I will not be wasting my money anymore here. Cook my own Italian or go to Aunti Pastos it's way cheaper and bigger portions. Bummers assagio, I was such a fan. This is not a one time experience lately, but this is my last one. read more

This one star is for the hard, stale, expensive piece of tiramisu we took home because we were so full with dinner we couldn't finish with dessert at the restaurant. This was a five star dinner as usual, but the dessert made me upset because it literally went in the trash. It was inedible and had a funny smell to it. Food here is always amazing. My favorite is the shrimp vegetable with white wine and garlic and their never-miss chicken Caesar salad made from scratch. SO ONO!!!!!! This review is based on my experiences here the last few years. Haven't gone in a few months, so if ownership has changed, maybe it's improved? Love the ceasar's salad - one of the best in the islands. The other dishes are generally pretty good, though there is often lots of garlic which enhances the flavor but can cause upset stomachs for a few days. It's worth it to me to endure LOL. Servers are generally pretty good, especially when they are preparing your ceasars. Negatives are that the manager /owner isn't the best to deal with if you have issues with the food, which arises from time to time. He isn't really customer service oriented and will openly complain in front of you. Very unprofessional. Also negatives for charging extra for so many things - want to change the type of pasta from linguine to fettucine? Extra charge. More sauce on the side? Extra charge. Any changes to the menu, extra charge. Some servers are cool and will not charge you, but your mileage may vary and it's always good to ask when you request changes. That being said, the fact that I have to bother my waiters with asking whether or not I'm going to be charged extra fees is really tiresome and something I don't like having to do all the time. So despite my love of the food here, I try to avoid going here because of that - as well as the unwelcoming owner/manager. read more

Our family decided to surprise my sister for her birthday at this location in Kahala. It was the first for all of us as we normally frequent the Kailua location. Service was fast and friendly and the food was on par with what we enjoy in Kailua. We'll definitely be back when on that side of town. Sorry no pics. This is the second time in 4 months we've eaten here and the bread (which is normally delicious) was stale. We had 4 baskets of bread on our table and all were stale. Both times. Everything was great but we really like our bread. So disappointing. If they improve their bread it's five stars from me. read more

We had a reservation for dinner at 6:30 and could not find parking. After calling the restaurant explaining that we would be late, they just said they were more crowded than usual. After circling the block twice, they told me to park in Kahala Mall. Most irritating about this is the manager simply didn't care. They had a large party and that's all they were concerned about. As a result we started late. The bread on the table was old, cold and hard. The waiter didn't ask if we wanted to start with appetizers and did not refresh the bread. He didn't even ask. We just sat and waited. When we put our order, I ordered a glass of Chardonnay. The wine never came and I had to remind the waiter, to which he responded that the wine I ordered was not available and I need to pick another label. All this I could overlook, but the quality of the dinner was poor. We ordered chicken piccata, calamari scampi, and shrimp scampi. The flavors were off and the pasta was overcooked and mushy. Both the chicken piccata and shrimp scampi required salt to add flavor. Over the years we have been patronizing the Koko Marina Assagio and we have had excellent food and service. As far as I am concerned, I will never come back to this restaurant. If I want to go to Assagio's, it will be at Koko Marina. I suggest you do the same. I realize Koko Marina is under different ownership and management, but that' probably the difference here. We will go to Koko Marina from now on. read more

We normally go to the one in Kailua, but they had a fire several months back and it's not re opened =( so we opt'd to try this location. We arrived early, before the crowd, 4:30pm for dinner (and good thing we did...it fills up quick). We were seated immediately and given water. Our waiter Sawyer came over to tell us of the specials and we were then given bread. Bread was good but butter was rock hard (been in the fridge)...but that's ok, the bread was warm so it melted a little. I had told the lady who gave us water that I drink A LOT of water and normally ask for a pitcher..so she made sure to keep coming around and fill up my glass. We ordered two 1/2 entrees, which was plenty for each of us... Mine was the Chicken Julieene Veggies....(see photo)...the presentation was GREAT...just hard to manuver everything on my plate and cut up the veggies and chicken. The chicken was a little fatty (think it's thigh pieces) so that was.........but the veggies and linguine were great. Could have used a little more garlic/butter sauce but I just added more parmasean cheese.... Dad said his was great....so no comment needed... I got Assaggio gift card as my Christmas gift from two of my loyal clients....Yaaaay . The other night my hubby and I decided to use it...and off we went; I called and the person who answered the phone said that the last call was 7:30pm. We hurried because we thought they close later than 8pm. Anyway the person who answered said he would wait for us....that's huge because not all restaurants would do so....5 stars right there. We got there around 7:40 on and was seated right away. Sawyer our waiter was awesome. We love the ambience and the service compared to the one in Ala Moana. On Sunday a group of 11 friends had reservations at Assagio's Bistro . We were seated at the bench seat table area and ordered. We were en no tying each others company. When a friend seated across from me said"don't move there's a roach behind you and I'm afraid it may drop in someone s hair. Lunch in Kahala, Honolulu, Hawaii... This was the second time that I had lunch at Assaggio Bistro with my paternal cousins. It's one of Dana's favorite restaurants - that's why she knew to order the Deep Fried Calamari Legs as an appetizer. They're lightly battered and have a nice crunch! I didn't even get a picture of them because we gobbled them up so quickly! Cullen is on a low carb diet, so he ordered the chicken salad while Dana had the clams with linguine. I had the yummy lasagna which really filled me up since I had so much of the delicious complimentary bread and butter! It was served warm and had a crisp outer layer while the inside of the bread was so soft and comforting! Parking is free right in front of the restaurant. Service was excellent. The waiter knew the menu well - he offered suggestions and told us the specials of the day! He was so efficient - we didn't have to ask for water and he cleared the used plates and utensils immediately! We got there before they opened at 11am, so we were seated right away. By the time we left, the restaurant was almost full, except for the private rooms. Wow...I will return and remember that this place is good for large groups! I have been coming to Assaggio's since they first opened in Kailua. We have frequented all locations for many years with our employees, but also dining out with friends and family. One of my go-to favorites is their chicken anchovy olio, with tons of garlic over linguine. We asked for it crispy but when it came out, we had to send it back to get cooked crispy. Our waiter was a nice guy and the bus person was on top of it, even more so than our server. My sister had the same thing as I did and my husband had the spaghetti Bolognese. All was good but not superb like it once was. Lots of oil on the bottom of the plate. Bread was warm but seemed stale. We had a 6:45 reservation and by 8 o'clock they were turning off the lights in the front of the restaurant. It was strange also that they were vacuuming by our table! The restaurant is well appointed. The booths in the back are very nice but because of the lights off and vacuuming and excess oil on the bottom of the plate, I couldn't give them five stars! read more

I came here with my running group last week Friday as a Carbo-Loading dinner before the Hapalua half marathon on Sunday. We called for reservations but had to change it three times but they were very accommodating. We had 14 people in our party and they put us in the back room. The general census for that night was that the food excellent with great portion sizes but the service was the highlight. The waiters were attentive and accommodating and they helped us out by allowing us to do about 8 split checks. On a recommendation of a member in our party, I got the Chicken and Shrimp creamy pesto - small portion, which surprisingly was quite a good size and very filling. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. I am also going to yelp for someone in our group who I know wont write about it, but it was because of him we came to this Assaggios. Anyways he said that he was just there last week for a family birthday dinner. They brought their own cake and the restaurant held it in their refrigerator until it was time for dessert. The restaurant staff even cut the cake and served it too. I thought this was quite impressive. One last thing about parking. The lot is quite small, but the manager let some of our people park next door. You can also park at Kahala Mall and walk over which is what some of our people did. read more

First and last time here. I have never eaten at an Assagios and this one has ruined it for me. The inside is very clean and fancy looking, once you get passed the entrance with the Chinese good luck cats on the front desk. You get complimentary butter and bread which was warm and delicious. I ordered an Italian soda, my waitress had no clue what it was, So another waiter had to tell her what and how to make it. When it came, it was the most tastiest thing I had at that restaurant. We ordered a ceaser salad that was the worst. It was super fishy tasting and hard to finish. We tried the escargot. It tasted like dirty unwashed mushrooms. I ordered the seafood combo. Which was angel hair pasta and seafood, mussels, clams, shrimp and squid. It was TASTLESS. There was no flavor in the sauce or the seafood. Even with fresh Parmesan cheese, it did not help the dish. Just when we thought things could t get worst, we ordered dessert. Spumoni ice cream. It was gross, it tasted like eggnog Icecream with chunks of dried fruit in it. Unbelievable. Just cancelled my dinner reservation. The man who is at the front desk is brusque and just now was rude on the phone. The last two times we were there it was obvious that he didn't want to be there. No smile or greeting. Plus, the last dinner we had there was subpar. The minestrone soup was awful. It had no flavor and looked like someone dumped a can of diced tomatoes with some frozen vegetables into the pot. In fact, the minestrone soup at Spaghetti Factory (@ Aloha Tower) is superior and THAT is saying something. The bread is always stale too. I like the location and I always get the chicken olio which is excellent. But if the first face you see is scowling when you walk in the door, no thanks. Let me start by saying how my family and I are very impressed by the service, food, and how organized the restaurant was! We had a rather large order (four salads, four pastas, and three appetizers), everything was packaged very nicely and we were especially surprised how quickly the food was ready! We were very impressed by the appetizers, unfortunately I hadn't taken a picture of everything but we had calamari, clam casino, and crab cakes. For entrees, We had the mushroom risotto with chicken, lasagna, chicken Parmesan with linguine, and shrimp vegetable with linguine. Everything was so delicious! Aloha, we have dined at other Assaggio restaurants and I have never had an issue with the food or service, until this time, 03/24/21 6-7:30 pm transaction 400015. The three of us had decided to go to dinner as I had never visited the "Bistro". We had a reservation and we arrived about 15 minutes early, but surprisingly, we were seated right away... Everything appeared to have started out nice, but once we "settled in" it became apparent that we were the furthest table away and the "atmosphere" had been obstructed by a "warehouse" supply of delivery boxes and barstools that were not being used. The drinks were okay, the table side prepared Caesar was delicious, but Tim wasn't thrilled with his Steak Salad and Stephen's Chicken Picatta was lacking sauce, the chicken was dry and the pasta was overcooked. I had ordered the Carbonara and it had good flavor, but needed more sauce as well. We wanted a second round of drinks and dessert, but our server vanished halfway through our meal and never returned to ask if we wanted anything more... At one point, a runner or greeter came and cleared our plates, but that's all he did, not asking if we wanted anything more. There was also a point when one of the guys walked by dragging a huge black trashbag on the carpeting... it looked as though there was a corpse in the bag, but whatever. First time at this particular location. I ordered take out yesterday and ordered my usual filet mignon and shrimp scampi(highly recommend)! The person who took my order was very friendly and the food was made quickly and ready for pick up. Unfortunately the meal itself was not what I expected, the steak was cooked nicely but tasted bland as if needing more seasoning and the bread was rock solid, when finally breaking off a piece the inside crumbled and tasted like paper. The shrimp scampi however tasted like every other assaggio. I'll probably give this place one more try and dine in and see if the food quality differs if not I'll stick with the other locations read more

We love Assaggio because it's so close to where we live! We got our requested window seat. We always start off with the antipasto salad which is so worth it for the price. My shrimp scampi and hubby's sausage meatball combo were delicious and filling. Winnie was nice to us and checked that the pasta was al dente as we requested. Go early for better parking. read more

Recently did take out and ordered two Chicken Olio dishes. When picking up to pay, the manager (seemed like it) made it a point to let me know that they added bread. It didn't matter because the bread was dry and crusty, so much so that it was inedible. We always order the Chicken Oilio but this time, it was dry and tasteless. Even the abundant amount of garlic was dull. Wondering if there is a new chef or we just went on a bad night? I'm also questioning if the "Large" size is smaller than before. I threw out a farewell party(dinner)here for my employee last night. It was June 17th, yes it was father's day. so it was really packed and busy there. We all expected that all the restaurants would be crowded and I felt we were lucky that they took our last minutes reservations. However, the service and atmosphere were really bad. We made a reservation at 7:15pm but as soon as we entered the restaurant, the reception was full of customers who have been waiting for their name to be called. We were waiting for about 10 minutes and finally they got us table, which doesn't seem like it's ready to be seated. All the glasses and utensils on the table were so dirty. After we seated, no one came to our table for about 20 minutes and finally one lady came and served us a bread and butter. We asked her if we can at least order something to drink first and she goes she's not our server so told us to wait for our server. 10-15 minutes after we talked to the lady, finally our server came and he just took our drink order without saying anything and left. What made us really disappointed was after he came back to bring us drinks, he just gave us drinks and left us for other tables to help. We had to wait for another 10-15minutes til he comes back and he didn't even tell us what's the recommendation or special for the night but he just started taking our orders without explaining anything . Although the service, ambiance and sanitation were wat lower than our expectations but I still tipped him 20% which my husband didn't agree and we had little arguments over this issue. It was Father's Day, and I'm 9 months pregnant and we wanted to have some special dinner for our employees and for my husband who's going to be a father soon. But we really regretted that we chose here for our special occasion, and I hope they take my words into consideration a little. read more

Chicken parmigiana 7/10. Assaggio special chicken flavor was yummy. Huge portion for large. All came out fresh and hot. Complementary bread given warm. Honestly, for simple food the price is extremely hefty. All food plus 3 drinks came out to $114. Good thing we had a gift certificate. If not, I wouldn't have paid for these items out my own wallet. The ambiance was relaxing and quiet. Loved the dimmed lights. Service was good. Our waiter didn't speak good english, misunderstood some things and was hard to understand at times, but he did a good enough job. We visit Assaggio Bistro every time we go to Diamond Head Theater shows and we are always pleased! Everyone enjoys the appetizers. This time we had the calamari and Caesar salad! Yummy! Meatball with meat sauce was a winner! Chicken Ala Saltimbocca and Chicken Alla Sorrentino excellent Mushroom pasta!!! We each enjoyed our pasta dishes and had leftovers for lunch the next day!
