Chips and guac to go (?)
    Jessica S.

I ordered chips and guac to go... for $7. A little bit of runny, puréed avocado over chips. That's not guac. They told me, "that's how we make it" when I told them this is not guac and chips, guac should be a side you dip chips into. Only salt, no other flavor to the avocado. Chips were fresh, though! Too bad, because I love the Atilano's in Coeur d'Alene.

2 "special" carne asada tacos ala carte

9.28.24: Last night stop after a music concert and before making the hour drive home. First time here and went simple and ordered 2 "special" carne asada tacos ala carte with a slice of flan for a sweet treat. The carne asada tacos were pretty big and loaded with plenty of meat. What makes it "special," is they add salsa, pico, and guac. To be honest, I bet the regular carne asada tacos are just as good. Tacos tasted good and not overly seasoned and can't complain about the portion size either. If anything, I could have used a couple extra limes. The flan was decent and the taste was what is expected from a flan--a caramel sauce custard. Texture was nice and firm, not mushy. Late night drive-thru window was open and service was fairly quick. Overall, Atilano's hit the spot for late night munchies. I do plan to return and try other menu items.

Door dashed Atilano's after a Broadway show, staying at a local hotel. The food was good, and plentiful. No complaints. Typical late night Mexican food.

I usually love their food here, but coming in after a long day at work, ordering a quesadilla, and getting a smooshed pile of garbage when I got home was pretty messed up. I am gonna not go here for a while until they get their ish together. Most of it was just empty burnt tortilla. I'm super annoyed. file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/51/01/0EAC8DB9-C9EA-4DDC-95D1-40211792BAF2/IMG_0106.HEIC

I have had tacos all over Mexico, including Michelin star restaurants and what has been called "the best taco ever made" and all across the country from San Diego to Texas to NYC. I have to say in all seriousness that Atilano's crispy shredded beef tacos are the best I've ever had. The crisp tortilla shells are fried in house, not Taco Bell style and really made the tacos. The shredded beef was plentiful had a mild flavor and was plentiful. My tacos were topped with fresh lettuce and shredded cheese in just the right proportion to add some freshness to the beefy tacos. All in all, it was as close to the perfect taco I've ever had. I only go on Taco Tuesday ,so, my 4 tacos came in at over $4.00 which was small, small price to pay for these hidden gems. My only complaint is the sauces, which are kind of meh but did the job. Judging by many of the other reviews, other items aren't that great ,but, if you stick to the crispy shredded beef tacos (NOT the ground beef, not nearly as good) you can't go wrong. I know Tacos, I really know tacos, and these are up there with any you will find any where in the world.

Just ordered a side of rice and beans and I was eating my beans and bit into a huge rock that was in my side. Do not go here. Also went in for a refund and they only gave me a partial refund lol

I'm from San Diego and came To Spokane to do a MCAT entrance exam here. I was super stunned when I came across this taco shop with the word "San Diego's Best" so I had to try it out and make sure they weren't cappin' & man, oh man, they did pretty good

How wrong I was!!! We found this place on Yelp and it looked like a winner...4.7stars and right next to our hotel. We dined on a Saturday night and the place was packed...we got the last open table. I really loved the decorations inside- colorful, festive, and some really neat Dia De Los Muertos styled paintings. Our server was great and went through the menu...lots of selections. I wasn't super hungry so I got 3 street tacos (1 al pastor, 1 carnitas and 1 tinga). My son got an al pastor quesadilla and my wife got pollo tacos. The chips and salsa were good and held us over until the food came. When the food came they also brought out 3 more salsas in squeeze bottles and all of these were great too. All 3 of my street were very flavorful and all incredibly tender. Sometimes chicken and carnitas can be pretty bland but not here...these were exactly what I was looking for. My family loved their food as well and we left wishing we had a Los Habaneros Taqueria back in AZ! When I was paying for our meal at the cashier several people were picking up to go meals and heard we were from AZ visiting and both parties said we found the best spot in Spokane for Mexican food. I don't doubt them for a minute...this was dynamite.

I got the fried chicken taco wjth a hazelnut matcha butter and Gorgonzola. Which was very yummy, then I got the pork belly with an asparagus salsa. Lastly I got two of the birria tacos. Overall the two street tacos were very good, perhaps both an 8/10 but the birria tacos were a little disappointing because their dipping sauce was basically flavorless. And the whole thing desperately needed salt. I ended up ditching the sauce and just using a bottled green sauce which was very yummy. Both my coworkers who also got the birria agreed it was not very good. They stuffed the tacos full of beef tho. The service was a little funky, we came in a big group and she insisted on taking all of our order at the same time and then had us pay separately after we all ordered, that required quite a bit of shuffling around among us 7, a bit confusing. Also, I ordered a soft drink and the bartender handed me a cup that was not full. Very strange. So I asked him to top it off, and his response was "sure, but just so you know, you get free refills" like okay? So because I get free refills you don't fill the cup up? Little strange, my coworker who witnessed it also thought it was weird. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely come back. Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Atmosphere 5/5

The food was amazing, the people were great, and I was excited to come back. Yesterday, my girlfriend and I planned a date night and decided to order from here again. Since we have kids, we did pickup. We drove about 25 minutes, then waited another 25 minutes because the line was packed which I didn't mind because the food was that good the first time. But this time? Completely different experience. I ordered a bean burrito with cheese... and it had no beans. Just rice and cheese in a tortilla. Then the nachos, honestly, for $27, this was unacceptable. Dry chips, unmelted cheese, some tomatoes thrown on top, no meat, no beans just thrown together with no care. It looked and tasted like an afterthought. What made it worse is the lack of accountability. I tried calling multiple times last night and again this morning no answer. Calls just ring or don't go through. I even tried calling from different numbers. Nothing. At this point, it's not even about the money it's the principle. Mistakes happen, but not being able to reach anyone or have them make it right is frustrating. I really wanted to keep supporting this place because the first experience was great, but this completely missed the mark. If you go, just be aware the quality and consistency might not be what you expect.
