Boy, How did I miss this place? I've eaten my share of good tacos in my 35 years in Northern California. The counter person wasn't rude, he just didn't smile, and seemed bothered by my speaking Spanish to him. I'm a white-boy "lol", "sometimes" Spanish speaking individuals get thrown off, or don't like it when I speak to them in there/"my" language. I speak it fluently by the way. Grew up in Spain. This young boy responded to me in English . "White boy?...trying to speak Spanish..." The other Mexican individual, the cook; we had a decent conversation in Spanish. This guy works his ass off. He has two jobs and barely sleeps. Very nice guy. This guy made the establishment inviting. I told him his tacos are authentic to Southern California and some places in the northern part. There is a large salsa bar, with mild and very hot sauces, delicious! They also keep fresh cucumbers; which is a nice touch! This was my late night run, it was quiet inside, but orders were being filled via phone calls late at night. 4AM!! I'll be back to try something else on their large, extensive menu. Many individual items and combo plates. I had the crispy tacos (real tortillas); (I am not talking Taco Bell), with carne asada. And paired it with a large pickled Jalapeño! (Free). I drenched the tacos with a habanero sauce. Luckily I had some Pepcid for the burning. It was all worth it... Priced decently. Clean, quiet, with friendly staff. But, It's ok to speak in your native tongue with a "foreigner" when he speaks to you in Spanish! Lesson for the boy. read more

The only reason I giving this a 3 star is because my sister swears by this place and goes almost everyday. She loves the prices and thinks the customer service is good. She basically drinks the green sauce. I personally would give it a 1 star. I got a shrimp burrito and it was soooo bad. The place smells like bleach. I have been wanting to try this place since they opened. A 24-hr California style (so hopefully authentic) Mexican restaurant in Spokane!? YES PLEASE. I really don't think I could have been more disappointed. For my visit, I went through the drive-thru, because it was the middle of my work day, so I didn't get a good look at the Ambiance inside. The service was fine, but nothing to get excited about. The food came out fairly quickly and everything I had asked for was in the bag. Now let's talk about his food, which is the reason for the low rating. I hardly ever give this low of a rating, but with not having gone inside, and there not being table service, the food is all I really have to rate on and it was AWFUL. I got a carne asada burrito and some Mexican tots. Let's start with the burrito. When I say it was lacking in flavor, I mean... it had none. Not even the rice. There was SO MUCH steak in the burrito, but it was SO BLAND and just tasted like unseasoned minced steak, that it almost would have been better had there been less of it. It was not good - I tried multiple sauces to try and give it more flavor. On top of it being bland, there was so much juice from the meat that the tortilla just fell apart and everything ended up on the plate. I gave up and let my dogs have a treat. The tots were... tots. Nothing Mexican about them (not that tots are Mexican, but the description said there was seasoning on them). They were also bland and tasted like plain tots. Which I normally love, but it just didn't meet the description. As much as I wanted to love this place... I didn't. I think the only way I would ever go back and eat anything here is if it was the middle of the night, I was drunk, and there was nothing else open. read more

I went in to get a very late dinner. This restaurant is one of the few places in Spokane open after 9 pm. The food is just as good late at night as in the daytime. My sister has been here a few times and just raves about the burritos. We'll, my first visit left me on the fence. Since I want to end on a positive note, I'll start with the negatives. I went out of my way to go here. Parking lot was full of cars (good sign), but since it was after 7:30pm and I was tired, decided to do the drive thru. Mistake! I apologized because I was sure I wasn't pronouncing it correctly. Got nothing, no response at all. Finally, after a couple of minutes, I said "hello? Are you there?" The guy (Daniel was the name on my receipt), finally asked if that was all (in a nice tone, not rude). Asked again if they had Bunuelos; no. Asked if they had Flan: yes. Also, ordered a large Jamaica drink. Still not sure what flavor it was; tried to ask, but got no response whatsoever. Kinda of watered fruity, not distinctive, and thank goodness not hibiscus! Got home (live down by SCC) and unpacked the goods - no tortillas. Opened the combo, which looked like a big mess, however, there were 2 very large chilie rellenos, tasty refried beans and nice moist rice. The peppers had great flavor but you needed a steak knife to cut them because they were tough. I would suggest eating them fresh there and not taking them home. The Flan was also tasty but didn't have that nice carmelized sugar syrup bottom that you expect with flan. We went and the guy at the speaker was sooo rude, expected dollar tacos for taco Tuesday but got 3$ tacos.. our fault for not specifying ( tacos were delicious though ) I ordered a two enchilada meal and he gave us two of them.. we were too over it at the window to even say anything because of how rude he was. As a former Californian (sorry!), the name of this joint already seemed a bold claim. I decided on a drive through breakfast burrito. Cal-Mex and Tex-Mex are their own cuisines, which are nothing like real Mexican food. The burrito I consumed was quite typical of Cal-Mex preparation. It was very generously proportioned but, barring the hot sauce cup, not particularly flavorful. One could say that this is typical of average Cal-Mex fast food and get no argument from me. I've never been so embarrassed. They took my order then laughed at me when i repeated it in english. They gave me a giant Mexican sandwich instead of nachos - cant even touch the meal because of allergies. When i went back to get my nachos i told the man at the counter who repeated it to the cooks and they all laughed. My meal was disgusting. The chips were all smashed the meat was hard and not warm at all. This is the second time ive tried ordering from this establishment and been laughed at bc i dont speak Spanish. We live very close by to this new spot so we had to try it out. Pleasantly surprised with how cheap it was and the quality was pretty good!
