Well, in Spokane, my son took me to at Tolano's Mexican Food on Frances. He told me that this was as good as the food back home. And it is not at least it was not today. I ordered a super breakfast burrito, which consists of egg, bacon, ham, sausage, cheese, and potatoes. What I got was some huge chunks of bacon, a little bit of ham, some cheese and a whole lot of potatoes and very very little egg and I don't remember seeing more than one little piece of ham in the entire burrito. The menu that hung above the register behind the counter on the wall said 879 when it rang up, it was 1179 and when we asked why they said prices had changed, but that they hadn't changed the menu pricing. They claim that they're from San Diego and that there is good as the Mexican food there and I live in the San Diego area and they are not even close. The ambience is close to Mexican restaurant appearance and feel but not really. The person behind the counter at the register was Hispanic. I won't go to this one again. We have been to one of the other ones where it was a little more Mexican food type from back home closer to the field and food and flavor but not the same. That's why I raised them at three. My first, and most likely last visit to this place. Upon entering, the gal who took our order was very friendly and cordial, but it was downhill from there. My friend and I each ordered a taco salad. The shell and beans at the bottom were total mush due to too much moisture or the sauce they put on, so I was only able to eat the part of the shell that didn't have anything touching it. While eating the beef, I encountered a large (2 inch x 2 inch) piece of very unappealing gristle or silver skin, which I picked out. I went to the counter and showed it to a younger guy who came out from the kitchen. He replied that it was "just part of the meat" and I said it was very unappetizing. He repeated that it was just meat and I said, "Well, I'm not going to eat it!" He looked at me and smugly said, "Well, you don't have to!" and went back to the kitchen. My friend also ordered the deep fried ice cream and she said she would never do that again either. Terrible service. Sad because I love the food here. Came through just now to get some food and the man and woman were rolling their eyes and throwing an attitude around because I bought a torta and some rolled tacos but the dude was insistent that we couldn't have lime because they only give them out with orders of tacos. They said it cost extra which would have been fine but the dude just kept insisting they couldn't give us lime because it's only for tacos. Regardless I ordered rolled TACOS so wtf. The lady finally gave us some limes but rolled her eyes and looked away as we told her to have a good rest of her night and thank you. I have been coming to Spokane now for apprenticeship classes three years now. Every winter when I come up I search for the perfect nachos. And I think I finally found them at Atilano's. The the chips were smothered in fixin's. Carne asada, cheese melted perfectly, with Guac and sour cream. And was a great portion/value for the price. The burritos are damn good as well. Fantastic food. Great taste! Very reasonable priced. However they're always asking if I want to add a tip when I pay. They didn't do nothing but prepare my food. While their food is exactly on par with every other Atilanos in town, the service is by far the worst! They never seem to hold consistent business hours and when they do the servers both at the counter and the drive-through are completely indifferent. Food was edible but disappointing. Cheese enchiladas were tiny and full of shredded cheese (as in it wasn't melted, at all). The Washington burrito was huge and full of French fries..... and not much else. No guacamole and no sour cream as advertised. For fast food this is authentic. The portions are large, you get what you pay for. I love the nachos, chimichangas & mojado. My son gets the mojado every time we go. The food comes pretty quick inside & also in the drive thru. The employees are welcoming & friendly. The inside is small and some of the seating & tables could do with a spruce up but it's not a huge issue & not a dive. For a fast food/cheap Mexican restaurant, the food is great! I've only been here once cause they were the only place open late but let me tell you, best drunk munchies spot! I tried the torta de pollo (Mexican sandwich with shredded chicken) and the carne asada (steak) fries but instead of steak I asked for pollo (shredded chicken) and both dishes were soooo yummy! The shredded chicken was cooked/stewed to perfection! And don't forget to try their aqua frescas (fresh fruit drinks) too! I tried the Jamaica (hibiscus tea) and horchata (rice milk) and both were really good! They also serve beer which was nice for my boyfriend. All around I'd say for the price and being open late with a drive thru... best food for drunk munchies 10/10! Give them a try! First time through (not on a Tuesday), we ordered two tacos with shredded beef, and a side of refried beans. Both were pretty good. The following $1 Taco Tuesday, the line to order was very long. We took that to be a sign that the food was good. We ordered 4 tacos, Asada nachos, Mexi fries, and a bean and cheese burrito. The person taking orders was talking to someone else inside the whole time we were ordering. She asked *3* times for us to repeat our order. Maybe we should have just left. However, the nachos were good, just waaay too much of them. There were adequate amounts of meat, guacamole, cheese and sour cream but it ended up looking like a pile of soggy chips with bits of color. We threw out 2/3 of them. The Mexi tots looked nice and golden and the sample we tried was fairly crispy. It just was too much! The entire take out box was full. Like they dumped a bag of them in oil not hot enough and that ended up not being cooked enough. They were soft and soggy within minutes and had no seasoning whatsoever. I was able to crisp them back up at home in an air fryer, though we through of them away. The bean and cheese burrito was wonderful! If you like that combo, you'll love it. And the tacos? We didn't get them. She had repeated the order back to us so we knew we had ordered them. She just forgot them. Grrr. I'm not going to pretend that this place is some sort of decadent, authentic Mexican Restaurant but you're guaranteed to leave satisfied and full. The meals can be a little greasy, but some folks love La Grasa. I usually get their crispy tacos, often oily but they taste great. The breakfast burrito is great to eat after a night out, chalk full of ingredients including French fries which is a great addition. read more

This is our favorite lunch spot. Good, cheap mexican food. It is cheaper than cooking at home (and its probably better than most of my cooking)! Four of us can eat for $20. My sister was driving down Sullivan in Spokane Valley and saw their sign and told me that she really wanted to try them. That's a one night when we were going to either go out or order dinner and she wanted to try Atilano's. It was absolutely horrible. The refried beans we're not refried. They were still whole beans and they were hard. I got a burrito, I think it was like a macho burrito and had them put enchilada sauce over it because they didn't have any burritos that had sauce over them at least not that we could find. Either way everything was so salty that you could not eat it. Well their prices are low and that's good, it turns out that they're the most expensive of all restaurants because you can't eat anything that you've paid for. I definitely would not go back there and I would not refer a family member or a friend, not even my enemy... Sorry it's just the truth, but it still doesn't feel good to leave a terrible review about a place. read more

So, while the food was absolutely delicious, the construction left a lot to be desired. The chicken in my supreme quesadilla had the best flavor and was so juicy, but I was given chunks so large it looked like it was half of a thigh. The cheese was barely there, there were more onions than anything else, and it was so soupy that It basically fell apart. Not to mention, the quesadilla was massive and not cut up at all. There was no real way to eat it and enjoy the entirety. The nachos we also ordered were just chips and meat with the most minimal of cheese that you actually had to search through the box to find any at all. It was a very frustrating experience to say the least. The lady at the front was very sweet though and the food was served quickly although it was cold. Almost as though it were left from a previous order and given to us to consume. The food has good flavor, but it seems like the cook is doing the least amount possible to serve the food. OMG. This is the closest thing I have had to the Pepe's breakfast burrito of SoCal fame. Ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and asked for beans to be added. Magical. The warm fuzzies will last me for weeks. The bacon was crisp and plentiful, delicious homemade tortilla, just the right amount of cheese and good potatoes. I will update my review possibly up my scores when I've tried more on their menu which I will be doing. I stopped in for Taco Tuesday where it's a dollar tacos. However instead of ordering tacos I ended ordering taquitos which were great. Taco Tuesdays is a very popular day so expect a long line in the evenings and to wait 15 or more minutes at least in the drive thru. This was my first visit and I was pleasantly happy and well go back to try more. Their prices are very reasonable and they have a great menu to include carne adobada fries, chile rellenos, enchiladas, burritos and so much more. Even if you weren't there for Taco Tuesday their prices are very reasonable my 5 beef taquitos with guacamole cheese and lettuce was less than $5 with tax. The staff was really very nice even when they could hardly hear you at the drive-thru due to the weather.I do recommend trying this place there are several in the Spokane area and I will probably be trying others as their othentic Mexican possibly even New Mexican style is yummy. read more
