I WILL NEVER GO BSCK TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!! I came here early Saturday morning, August 29th, and had what was honestly one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a coffee shop. I used to come to this coffee shop all the time to work. I genuinely enjoy supporting small businesses, which is why I would choose this coffee shop over Sightglass across the street. In the past, the staff had always been very friendly, welcoming, and hardworking. Unfortunately, after what happened today, I will never come back to this place again. Here's what happened: I had some work I needed to get done and saw that the shop opened at 8:00 AM. Earlier that morning, I went to a different coffee shop and got a coffee. Around 8:20 AM, I decided to come back here to work, thinking I would get another coffee once I finished the one I already had. I sat down with the coffee I had purchased from the other coffee shop. A woman I had never seen before, who introduced herself as the general manager, (which I'm sure it's BS) approached me and, in what I felt was a very passive-aggressive tone, asked, "What can I get for you?" I told her that I was going to get another coffee when I finished the one I already had. (Literally had 2 sips left) She gave me a look and continued talking about it. I immediately said, "I'm sorry, you're right. What can I do? Do you want me to get another coffee right now?" For context, I worked as a barista for seven years, so I completely understand the etiquette. I understand that bringing in a drink from another coffee shop while sitting in your establishment can be considered rude, especially if I'm not purchasing anything. I had no problem being corrected, and I was willing to fix it immediately. I got up and ordered a black coffee from the shop. At that point, the conversation could have ended. I had acknowledged what I did, apologized, and purchased a drink. But she continued. While handing me my coffee, she continued lecturing me about how I shouldn't bring in a drink from another coffee shop. At this point, I was extremely frustrated because I had already apologized and had literally gotten up and purchased a coffee from her establishment. I finally said, "This is crazy. We do not have to have this conversation. I already bought the coffee." She then referred to herself by saying "I'm a crazy bitch." At that point, I was so irritated that I decided to just walk away and go back to my seat. I didn't want to continue the argument. But she continued across the cafe and goes off on me. She then said, "I can ask you to leave." I asked her, "Do you want me to leave?" She said, "LEAVE." So I left. I want to be clear: the outside coffee was never the issue. I understand the etiquette. I understood her concern, apologized, and immediately purchased a coffee. If she had simply said, "We don't allow outside drinks, but if you'd like to stay, please purchase something from us," I would have completely understood and there would have been no problem. What made this experience so awful was the unnecessary escalation after I had already complied. I have supported this business for a long time because I believe in supporting small businesses. I chose this place repeatedly over other coffee shops because I liked the people and wanted to support them. Unfortunately, one interaction completely changed that. I will not be returning to this coffee shop unless there is a significant change in management. I have never had a customer-service experience like this, and I don't believe any customer should be treated this way--especially after acknowledging their mistake, apologizing, and purchasing something from the business. read more

I walked into Atlas Cafe around noon and honestly wish I hadn't. I witnessed firsthand how a buzzcut woman who appeared to be a manager or supervisor was speaking to staff, and it was disturbing. The tone and attitude felt deeply disrespectful and, from what I observed, came across as racist. I've been coming here for years, and as someone from the Mission, this felt like a completely different place. It now comes across as a space catering to techie white gentrifiers while treating their Latino staff like they're disposable. What made it even worse is watching a white manager profit off the labor of her staff while speaking to them in such a nasty, demeaning way--it's unacceptable. On top of that, I've personally seen people's MacBooks get snatched by thieves here. That lack of response only adds to how unsafe and uncaring the environment feels. I can't support a business that allows this kind of environment anymore. Really disappointing. read more

Love the garden house aesthetic here. It's a great place to focus, and the patio is dog-friendly! The service is very quick; the barista was so dedicated to getting our drinks started that they jumped right in before even handing over the receipt. As for the food, the tofu sandwich was delicious. We also tried the smoked salmon bagel, which was great, though the slices of fish were kind of stuck together in a bunch. Still a solid meal and a beautiful atmosphere! read more

Food was to go. The best grilled cheese I have had for lunch. I wish there was a tomato bisque that I could have dunked it in. The bread was nicely brushed with garlic and butter pressed nicely on a panini machine. I wasn't fond of the cookie, it wasn't the kind I like. If you are into thin crunchy chocolate chip cookies then this would be your jam. Try the grilled cheese sandwich tho it will make you do a little dance. read more

Loved this place! We were early for brunch nearby so we stopped in here for some coffee. It's a very bright spot with lots of options in the menu. We opted for lattes and they were both made perfectly. We wished we had more time to enjoy our drinks in the back patio where they had art from the local artists. The vibe in here makes me want to be a millennial in their golden era, the 2010s. It makes me want to pull out my chunky white Macbook with a CD drive and write a novel on a Word doc. The 2007 Microsoft Word obviously. I stopped here to get work done on a weekday afternoon. Inspired by the vibes I put Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix on loop and got to work, caffeinated by my golden turmeric latte (just ok). Service was very quick. There are lot of food options. Parking was so tough but I guess that's just SF. I found free unlimited street parking after 15 minutes of rounds. read more

My go-to is an ice mocha- oat milk, single shot. The most refreshing drink I've ever had, anywhere. It's a dream, i don't know how they make it, but I steak of an iced mocha from Atlas. My friend works in the area so every time I pick her up, I make it a point to get my iced mocha. read more

Atlas cafe needs an updated review. I saw some reviews that say its cash only but that was 14y ago and no longer the case. I love this little spot. It's simple and cozy with lots of table to chill or read including some in the sun. And if you came for coffee but now you're hungry, you gave options! The staff is always a little basic and there is no art in the coffee but the coffee is good and the vibe is a chill neighborhood feel with locals. If you're a local, give it some love. If you're not, skip to the next fancy spot. read more

Ordered a cappuccino, and the foam was really smooth and nice. The espresso had a mild flavor with slight acidity. The service was a little longer than expected, but that's because I think it is more of a sit-down place rather than a coffee bar where the bulk of the business is to-go. But for crying out loud, this is consistent - can you make sure your staff double and triple ask and check their customers if you understand their order correctly and also make sure you provide them with what they ask. Its now every single time you get my order wrong - whether i order in or online. This is driving me to come to you less and less...Do better! read more

I found this cafe in the neighborhood block of the Mission District. Parking was okay to find around here. There are plenty of free spots to look around. The Atlas Cafe is so adorable and they have a small variety of pastries to try. There are several outlets against the wall. You can choose to sit indoors or outdoors (although, there won't be any outlets outdoors). It can be quite packed for a Friday afternoon. I like how they open until 6 PM and they play a lot of cool songs in Spanish. The fresh orange juice was sour and sweet just how I liked it. It was very enjoyable and they have free Wi-Fi you can use. I think the sanitation of the place could have done better. read more

Not super impressed with my lunch today. I had the chicken salad, which is basically a Greek chicken. I didn't really like the shredded chicken and it had pickles . The dressing was just so so. Lovely spot to hang out, work, and catch up with friends! I can tell why it's been a local favorite for a while. It is in the heart of a great block of restaurants in the Mission, and has a complete menu of breakfast bites, sandwiches, and typical coffee/tea selection. I've never been a fan of tuna sandwiches for some reason, despite being a seafood lover. But this morning I woke up determined to find a tuna sandwich out here in SF that I might like, something more refined than what mom used to make at home (kind of bland, blah). My husband suggested that I might like warm toasty tuna melts rather than yesteryear's sad, cold, cheeseless tuna sammies, so I jumped on Uber Eats to find one that sounded like it could be a cut above the usual. Actually, what got me to look up Atlas was that someone recommended them on a thread in the AskSF subreddit. When I saw some unique ingredients in their tuna melt (like currant and citrus mayo) and that I could add Emmenthaler cheese for even more melty goodness and fanciness, I felt this was the one to try. Got it delivered. Love at first bite! I bet it would be even tastier next time with kalamata olives for more mediterranean flair and a little more acid. The sandwich also looked extra tasty since it was lightly panini-pressed looking, giving it a satisfying, buttery crunch and a light sourdough tang. Later I tried a totally different tuna melt from a different restaurant. It was out of balance -- WAY too much pickle and WAY too much mustard, and no complexity. Atlas's interpretation was far better - complex and refined but harmonious. Not words you usually think of when you think of tuna melts. If you're a tuna melt person, you might find this one to be next level. Give it a try at Atlas! I can't wait to get it again and experiment with more interesting toppings. read more

It's been a while since I've visited Atlas Cafe and I'm so glad they still have their Beatloaf sandwich and trout salad on the menu! Honestly, this beatloaf sandwich is so yummy that I want to learn how to make it on my own. The only downside is that's is so small. The trout salad has very generous helpings of tasty fish! The lack of one star is because their prices seem to have gone up. My wife and I got a salad, and a sandwich and one Alagash each; it was over 60 bucks. Maybe that's the norm now? I'm not sure. I'm not the type to write negative reviews, but honestly I've never felt so humiliated in my life. So first of all, I walked in and was not greeted, I waited at the counter for several minutes and was given a dirty look by the older woman with glasses. I asked for a cup of hot water to take my meds as I am disabled and also it's cold. Normally, when I ask other businesses for hot water, I'm given a to go cup or asked if I want anything else. I was given a mug and no other words were spoken to me nor was I asked if that was all I wanted. I can't leave with the mug so I thought it was fine to sit for a minute until I was ready to figure out what I wanted to order. Not even five minutes into sitting down and sipping my hot water (waiting for it to cool down so I can take my medication), the older woman approached me and told me that I needed to leave since I didn't pay for anything and I'm taking up a chair. And I asked her why she gave me a mug and not a to go cup. She couldn't answer that but got me a to go cup. The cafe had more than enough seats for other patrons. They need to learn how to talk to people. read more

There are a lot of excellent cafes in the Mission, and I think Atlas has earned it's spot towards the top of the list. The indoor seating and outdoor courtyards are excellent spots to work remotely for a bit. I also think there steamed eggs option for bagels or breakfast sandwiches is unique and delicious! Only removing two stars because I have stopped in a few times to find that their egg steamer was broken, and another time when I came across a few pieces of eggshells in my sandwich... Tough to avoid when the eggs are fresh and not from a carton, but unfortunately also not super ideal... I also wish it was not $3.75 to add avocado... I know SF has it's upcharges, but at what it would cost to buy two whole avocados at the market, that seemed a little excessive... Regardless, one of the cutest cafe ambiances in the neighborhood, and will certainly be back soon. read more

The place: cute neighborhood haunt. Stopped here from the airport on the way up to Sonoma and it hit the spot. Was busy but not overly so (maybe 25 people hanging out at 1:30pm on a Monday). Typical cafe, where you have to grab your food from inside when it's ready. The taste: free samples of cookies added an extra lift in our smiles. We preferred the chicken to the tuna melt, but both were good. Dressing on the salad was bombs My face: content smile because we were on the brink of hanger. A couple of coffees for the road were $8. The two sandwiches with sides were probably around $27. Would definitely return if I find myself in the neighborhood again. read more

First and last time trying this cafe. The elderly woman at the register was very rude. My friend ordered first , initially we thought of finding a table to sit and dine in then , we noticed it was full . While still at the register , my friend changed her order "to go" . The order had not been started as she HAD JUST paid. The elderly cashier was so bothered , looked at my friend like this was the most complicated thing on earth then proceeded to yell at the cook "THE LAST ORDER TO GO" didn't say anything else just stared at my friend and gave her the receipt. When I placed my order I asked for almond milk. Again , she looked bother in a condescending tone said "it's right behind you , you can put anything you like" then gave me a bottle of almond and asked if I can place it next to the rest.
