My experience was positive and the gal who helped me was very friendly and helpful explaining to me what the Lotus Milk Tea was so shout to her (sorry don't know her name but she worked around 30 mins to closing.). Since I didn't know what the lotus was she gave a sample and explained that it was more on the bitter side compared to the Jasmine Milk tea which is what I normally order at other places. To my surprise, I liked the flavor and decided to order it. I wish they offered larger sizes. Bc i had a long drive during my work day I needed more to drink on my drive. They only had 1 size, hence my 4 star rating. The boba was delicious, soft and fresh-tasting. Prices are on the higher end. And also found out that Capy is named after the animal a capybara. Cute little capybara themed cafe, but the drinks were just ok. The strawberry matcha latte was pretty bland and could use a bit more sweetener. I don't have a sweet tooth by any means but it tasted like the drink wasn't sweetened at all. The strawberries looked jammy and promising but they ended up being sour. Was so excited to try this local spot in Folsom! I had seen a lot of people post about it on tik tok and instagram. The vibes were great, staff was nice, and I loved every other aspect of the store except for the matcha. I was recommended the Capy Matcha, and when I talked to the barista, she let me know that all of their drinks run less sweet (abt 25% sweetness). If you like sweet things I would ask to up the sweetness! Regardless, I tried the drink and the drink itself was lacking depth of flavor. Not sure if it's the matcha they use, but it leaned a bit more on the astringent side and I didn't taste any other notable flavor profiles. I tend to love a nutty matcha like Yame first harvest and I also love Okumidori and Saemidori cultivars and am a bit biased towards them. But regardless of my bias the matcha itself was lacking flavor and just tasted really astringent. I also have gone to Capy Cafe multiple times and their drinks tend to vary based on the barista working. This is definitely expected, but the variance is too high and perhaps it would be good to develop SOPs that standardize drink making across the board. I also wanted to try their Vietnamese coffee but it was marked out of stock. Not sure if I would come again after giving Capy Cafe multiple tries, but if the drinks get better, I might return because I love the vibes and decor in the store. read more

Even with light ice I felt like I didn't get much drink though. - Imperial Jasmine: Jasmine mt + matcha. Unfortunately, very bitter and that's just the Jasmine mt itself before the matcha mixed in. After matcha mixes in, just tastes like matcha. Wasn't any better though. Def would not get again. Inside is small, but they fit as much seating as possible. The cutest capybara-themed cafe! I'm going to need them to open a location in Sacramento closer to home, please! It's a small, clean shop with some bench seating adorned with capy plushies in one corner and a few tables and chairs along the wall. There are also 2 claw machines in the back with pokemon, capybaras, and Hello Kitty prizes. They also sell Capy Cafe tees, totes, and capybara slap bracelets and key chains. Everything is adorable! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our drinks were delicious. Me and my husband got the "Sunrise Tea" and the "Sunset Tea." Very refreshing and made quickly. Will have to try their coffee drinks next time. We unknowingly stopped by during their Grand Opening celebration. Missed out on their free tote bag giveaway, but we did have a chance for their raffle drawing later that night, and they gave a $10 off coupon for the Habit (burgers). I've been back a few times since my initial visit, and unfortunately the matcha drinks haven't been very consistent. The one thing that has been reliably good is the matcha foam on top and honestly, each sip needed it to taste good. The ratios still seem off; the drink can taste watery at times and the matcha just doesn't shine through the way you'd expect it to. I've tried asking for less ice and less sweet, but it hasn't made much of a difference. There is also sediment at the bottom even after mixing; they may not be sifting the powder first, or the matcha powder itself could be lower quality. The egg coffee was sold out every time I returned, so I still haven't been able to try it. Capy Cafe is probably doing well partly because it's one of the only spots in Folsom offering made-to-order whisked matcha, so there isn't much direct competition. If you've had exceptional matcha before, the drinks here might be a little underwhelming but if you're just looking for a local whisked matcha latte, it may still be worth a try. read more

Over the weekend, my friend, daughter and I drove to Folsom to check out the Capy Cafe! They just opened on April 11th and my daughter is obsessed with Capybaras so we knew we had to check them out. The inside was so cute and inviting with stuffed Capybaras spread throughout - my daughter wanted to take one of the large stuffed ones home! We ordered a Capy Latte, Sea Salt Coffee and a Brown Sugar Boba Milk - all 3 drinks were great! We devoured them all before we left. They also offered Matcha, different teas, cookies and even Tiramisu! I loved how fresh the drinks tasted and that you could still taste the coffee and nothing was overly sweet. The inside has a decent amount of seats and they even have seats just outside that still make you feel like you are sitting inside. We found a cozy spot to relax and enjoy our drinks, but they were definitely busy and seats filled up fast! Service was great - everyone we spoke to was super friendly and eager to help! This is the cutest cafe! I mean who doesn't love a capybara? We were immediately greeted when we walked in. After looking over the menu we ordered. I was sad they were sold out of the Egg Coffee but now I'll have to come back for sure! My daughter had fun trying her luck on the mini claw machines and she scored some cute Hello Kitty! The space itself is super cute, though definitely on the smaller side so we got lucky with our timing because it filled up quickly and the line was already stretching out the door. I ordered the capy matcha, which comes with a matcha cream top, and it was honestly so good and rich, creamy and perfectly balanced. The only thing I wished for was a bit more variety in sweeteners. They currently offer cane sugar, which is fine, but I usually go for agave, so having that option would've made it perfect for me. What really stood out, though, was how welcoming the staff were. Everyone was friendly, professional, and just genuinely kind. I appreciated that they took the time to ask if it was our first visit and whether we preferred coffee or matcha it made the experience feel more personal. I asked the barista what her favorite matcha was, and she told me about the banana matcha! it wasn't on the menu, so i'm guessing it's an off menu special for now. But I was stoked they had it in stock! It was pretty good, but the banana flavor for sure took over the matcha flavor - which is fine by me, but some might have a different opinion. Saw this place on IG and finally had the chance to check it out! I had an appt down the road so decided to treat myself with a matcha drink from here. The location is near a busy road so you can't miss it. The interior of the cafe was cute, aesthetic, and of course incorporated capybaras everywhere from plushies to merchandise, etc. The menu had a decent amount of options from drinks to pastries. I ended up ordering a Capy Matcha drink for me and a regular Matcha Latte to bring home to my husband. Both drinks definitely had a good taste of the matcha and not overly sweet. I got the double matcha and it was so good, creamy, nutty, and the right amount of sweetness. It's a small cafe with very limited seatings. I was in need of a little pick me up, so I checked Yelp and came across this spot for Vietnamese coffee. It is such a cute little capybara themed coffee shop. There were capybara stuffed animals around the seating areas, and my kids had a great time playing with them while we waited. My coffee came out pretty quickly. Although there are some things they could improve, it's worth visiting to try it. This place is too cute! For drinks my fiance and I got a viet sea salt coffee to share and a sunrise drink. I dont recommend adjusting sweetness at all as they both weren't too sweet to begin with, unless you really dont like sweet coffee. The jasmine tea in the sunset was nice and strong and had pieces of fruit in it. I like that it tastes like real fruit. The coffee was a very unique one-you can def tell its slow drip and it doesnt have a bit of the bitter/burnt aftertaste that some viet coffees have. The sea salt crema is addicting. We also got their homemade tiramisu and smores cookie. Even though the tiramisu was homemade it didnt have a strong coffee taste, was a bit grainy and I wouldn't get again. So happy Folsom finally has a spot dedicated to high-quality matcha! We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in and right away you can feel the vibe of the café. The place is max cuteness! If you love capybaras, this place will give you the fuzzies as there are plush capys of all shapes and sizes to cuddle and sit with as well as Capy Cafe merch, including adorable slap bracelets and plushie key chains. We didn't know it was the grand opening so were pleasantly surprised to get a ticket to be entered for 3 prizes, and there was a cute photo op next to the front door with Capy props and balloons. Their customer service is on point: when you pick up your drinks, they're served on a wooden tray with your straw; great idea if you're carrying multiple drinks or just don't want to juggle your drinks if you're carrying bags, etc. My sea salt Vietnamese coffee hit- you get a nice dose of caffeine and the sea salt cream was amazing. The two combined balanced one another perfectly. I'm going to start a new job in the area soon so I plan on coming back to try more drinks including their banana matcha.
