After wanting to try this place for a long time now, we finally made it! First off, our waitress Gracie was phenomenal. She knew how much and when to interact and she was great with our 1 yr old son. She treated us with extra attention when needed. It was a pleasure tipping and we will request her whenever we return! We started with the coconut shrimp and you could taste it was fresh which we loved. I ordered the pecan crusted chicken sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! I barely talked through it! Kids meal of salmon and broccoli was so incredible for our three year old. Fair pricing and healthy. We were impressed and she ate it all! My mom passed away a few weeks ago. I went out with my dad to Aunt Catfish's since I haven't been since I was a kid and I am in town from New York during this difficult time. We came a little before happy hour, I put in for an appetizer ten minutes prior to the happy hour deal at 1:50 PM, expecting the happy hour deal (especially since we were given a happy hour menu). I also didn't realize it wasn't quite 2:00 PM yet. Instead of our waitress telling us to wait a few minutes for the happy hour (2-4) deal, she put it in immediately. We ordered our food and got our final check at 2:48 PM and we were charged full price for the appetizer. I inquired about the happy hour deal for the one appetizer. I was told the happy hour item was put in just before 2:00 PM and the computer decided it was full price. I asked to speak to someone about this and the manager offered no solutions, no apologies, and told us it was going to be full price. We spent almost $100.00 here, not including tip (we did tip, despite everything). We weren't asking for anything for free, just for ONE item to be honored on the happy hour deal. If this wasn't possible then a coupon, a free dessert, or anything should have been offered. It was not. My dad lives less than 5 minutes on the other side of the bridge and we will never come here again nor recommend it to anyone. Food was good but not the best. There are much better seafood places elsewhere with nicer service. If you do go here, make sure to double check your receipt since they are not trustworthy. If that's not cool enough for you lol they also have homemade cinnamon rolls and they are so delicious. I had about 3 of them. You just walk up and grab as many as you can handle. The cold and hot bar and cinnamon rolls bar are all you can eat. As long as you get an entrée, all of that will be included. This was my first time here and I really had a good time. The food was good and the service was good. Someone was always stocking the fixins bar and fresh cinnamon rolls were always coming out. Absolutely everything we sampled was delicious. With so many offerings it is going to take several visits to sample everything. Signature cinnamon rolls will be a must next visit. No surprise this place was busy with eventually a wait to be seated. Staff attended every table with care, making for never a time without the essentials. The crew was happy to take care of customers. This location is located riverside along the Halifax River, just west of the Dunlawton bridge. The building is typical of a long standing destination, dining areas and bathrooms in good order. Overall our visit made it a great morning of food with family. Our last vist to Aunt Catfish was in 2020. After our visit today I can assure you we will NOT be waiting another 5 years to return. I am so pleasantly full I can barely share my review. My planned ETA was 2:00 on a Monday. I wanted us to experience the Happy Hour options (2:00-4:00) and the Lunch Specials (11:30-4:00). They also have a Early Bird Menu (anytime before 5:00). My strategy was accomplished. Started with the Clam Chowder and Fried Clam Strips (both 1/2 off during HH) and they did not disappoint. I love a thick Chowder and the Clams were fresh and hot. We ordered off the $10 Lunch Special Menu, got the Beer Battered Fish (one big piece) and the Salt and Pepper Fried Catfish (5 pieces). Everything came out nice and hot with a side and a hushpuppy, but because we jumped right into the "fixins buffet" before the food came out, we were sooooo full, we had no room to eat any of it. We throughly enjoyed all the items in the "fixins buffet"(baked beans, coleslaw, pickled coleslaw, cheese grits, potato salad, broccoli salad, baked apples and corn bread). The only item we did not enjoy was the couscous salad. Our Server was nice enough to let us take a few of the warm cinnamon rolls home with us. They were also apart of the "fixins buffet". I had really high hopes for this place and was kinda disappointed with the experience. First of all service was great! Our server was quick, efficient and professional. We stopped in after a long drive into town for a conference. This restaurant popped up on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. Once the server explained the ordering process and told us that we had unlimited access to the fixings and cinnamon roll while we dined, I was excited! I ordered the lump crab cake sandwich and it just was not to my liking, a little too much filler and fishy taste. My friend had the grilled fish sandwich sans bread and it lacked some seasoning for a beautiful portion of fish. I tried the cornbread from the fixins and the cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon roll smells heavenly- the scent is captivating but it was entirely too sweet to enjoy more than one. While a generous portion of food, the value was not me for me. Arrived to larger groups seated outside waiting for a table but were able to get a table right away as we were only two. An Indifferent but not unpleasant young man sat us at our table. Within mins our friendly and helpful waiter provided menus and ordered our drinks - he was Johnny on the spot during the visit- good waiter. The interior of the restaurant has seen better days and is due for a deep cleaning and a refresh. We both ordered fish & chips which arrived after a short wait. Fresh out of the fryer. The fish was not cod or haddock as I had hoped- it had a slightly mushy consistency and was told it was Unicorn fish- not impressed and left half on the plate. The fries were well seasoned and plentiful. I did not try the fixin's bar as it was shockingly dirty and in this day and age of easily transferable germs, it should be served out of the kitchen rather than from a tiny little cart with filth all over it. My son only wanted catfish on our visit to Florida, after some research I found Aunt Catfish's. We arrived 15 minutes before opening and I was surprised to see waiting area was already full. After we ate I knew why! Once they opened we got seated immediately along with everyone else waiting, and greeted right away by our server. He was fabulous and friendly, we let him know it was our first visit. He filled us in on the fixins bar and the cinnamon rolls. We had a party of 6 and between us tried the salmon, catfish, shrimp, pork osso buco, meatloaf, and add on lobster tail. Everyone was VERY happy with their food. Lobster tail was a tiny bit rubbery so I probably wouldn't order that again, but the seasoning on my shrimp and salmon was some of the best I had-I also really liked the dill sauce with the salmon.
