My husband and I came here for NYE dinner as walk-in. Luckily, they were able to server us. We were seated in the sidewalk outdoor seating with heat lamps. I believe this area was for walk ins and their patio was for reservations. Either place was good! We started with Aurora Manhattan, loved that it wasn't watered down. Some good quality prosciutto . Then proceeded with Parpadelle Ragu (pardon the spelling) and lobster risotto. Both were good dishes, just needs some acquired taste but we got the hang of it after a few bites. Our favorites were the calamari, risotto, tiramisu and apple tart! Great service from the staff, beautiful atmosphere. Overall a different Italian restaurant worth coming back for. read more

My friend came into town from Cleveland Ohio and wanted us to meet up for dinner. I found this spot on social media, and I was immediately impressed upon arrival. The host was welcoming and although we did not have all parties present , I let him know that my friend was in her Uber, shared her location and he seated us almost immediately. If we were not able to be seated, there were seats available at the bar and the bar looked fully stocked. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and also a patio outback. The ambience is a beautiful, dimly lit rustic vibe. Everyone was catering to us. The food came out in a timely fashion, and was absolutely delicious! I was startled by my squid ink pasta because of the shapes it looks like octopus, but it was actually pasta in an interesting shape! I'm so happy I decided to give it a try before calling my waiter over I was blown away by the flavors! I'm currently pregnant, so I did not have a drink, but everyone I sat with said the drinks were absolutely tasty. They did have a delicious mocktail which I ordered and was completely satisfied. This restaurant is like a hidden gem but maybe it's just because I didn't know about it lol!!! I would truly recommend this for any type of occasion. I hate leaving bad reviews, I never do. I really wanted to like this place because I had heard great things. We had a reservation for a party of 3 at 8:30pm but we were running late so we called the place to let them know and the host told us it was okay. However, when we arrived, we were seated at small table that usually fits 2 people. Right away we noticed there was an empty table of 4 right next to us and behind us, we waited for someone to come back so that we can ask to be moved but when the host came back, he came back with another party of 3 who had arrived after us and seated them in the 4 seat table . Imagine our surprise !! I wanted to give this guy the benefit of the doubt and believe this wasn't a racist thing to do since we were the only hispanics at this restaurant . We spoke to him about getting seated at a bigger table behind us but he ensured us that this was the best table he could give us since we were late to our reservation. ... We decided to stay at the small table and make the best of it but I would like to mention the table behind us was empty for 80% of our stay at the restaurant. With that being said, the food was good. Ordered calamari and shrimps as the appetizer, also ordered the burrata and prosciutto which I highly recommend . For the main course, I had the steak and my friends ordered duck. The duck was not good, if you're debating between the two, I recommend sticking to the steak. Anyway, the food was good. The waiters were nice, specially Francisco who was very attentive. I will come back as long as they have a different host. The Cacio e Pepe pasta was among the best I've had in the City, it was perfectly cooked and amount of cheese and pepper was great. Now on to the things I didnt like: 1. Service was bad. We had one check in to take our order and didnt see the server again. I had ordered a cocktail and wanted another one but no one ever came. 2. Sides, appetizers were just ok. The croquettes were a bit bland and the side of vegetables was not good. 3. Cocktail was just ok, nothing special. I've tried to come 3 times and only have been able to eat here once. We tried the ink calamari croquettes they were crispy outside and creamy inside. The kale salad was also good as a side dish. The grilled octopus has a good flavor but texture is hard and dry, the portion is a tentacle (regular portion of most restaurants) but cut in HALF. they only serve one half...so no, I wouldn't recommend ordering that. The food here is just delicious all around. We had the octopus and the croquettes for starters. I'm a sucker for octopus but the salad the it was on was pretty good too. The pasta was authentic and cooked just right. The flavors were INSANE. We ordered the cacio o Pepe & the crab pasta. Both were pretty outstanding. We ordered a bottle of Rosè because...summer. We ended with the afogatto and tiramisu. I like my tiramisu a bit more moist but both were good. The service was optimum. They were efficient, kind and made sure we were satisfied. We came extremely late for our reservation and they were able to accommodate with no pressure. I love the way they set up the place. It was as if we were in our own world. Aurora is definitely a place to go for pasta! We made reservations a few days in advance for Aurora. It was a bit cold and at the time, they did not have adequate heating for the outdoor patio, so we had to keep our jackets on. The decor is very chic and Brooklyn. The restaurant did a great job and we really liked it. Most, if not all, of their wines were imported from Brooklyn. This feature really adds to the authenticity of their brand. We started out with a bottle of white wine and razor clams for appetizer, a special for the day. The sauce was done well, clams were fresh and tasted great! The delight of the night was when we had our entrees. We ordered the Rigatoni ($22) and the Saffron Malloreddus ($26). The portions, quality and taste of the food reminded us of when we were in Italy. Tasty, not too heavy and done just right. We were very impressed with the pasta! Pleasantly surprised that the restaurant lives up to its beauty. Highly recommend this chic restaurant if you're in the area and in the mood for pasta. read more

I made reservations in advance to have brunch here on a Saturday. We arrived early but had to wait 10 minutes post the reservation time to get seated. I wasn't too hungry so I didn't mind the wait but it is something the restaurant should keep in mind since we are waiting out in the hour sun. This girl was just annoying. She was to be seated in another table but saw our table and just moved and sat in our table before we could! Seriously, people like this don't belong in Brooklyn. Our host looked at my friend apologetically and my friend decided it wasn't worth it to argue with the rude woman. I wish she could have asked us if it was okay to be seated in our table. We were pissed since we wanted to be seated next to the plants by the wall and we came before she did. But you know karma, you get what you deserve. So the people seated by the mini balcony finished their brunch so we asked the host if we could sit there and he immediately cleared up the seat and gave it to us. We had our own semi private seating with a huge red umbrella! Meanwhile me and my friend gave the rude woman the smug look and moved, she had the burning sun all over her in about 20 minutes while we enjoyed our cool cocktails under the bright red umbrella. Im really thankful to the host and staffs! Now for the food and drink, the cucumber cocktail was refreshing for the summer and I loved it. I had the crab and eggs Benedict with avocado toast and it was flavorful, filling and delicious. The eggs were poached brilliantly, they oozed out when I cut it. And the portions were huge for $20. The eggs were jumbo size, if I had been in the city, I would get one tiny poached egg for the same price. The crab was CRAB, it was amazing. Horrible experience with unsanitary food and unfriendly staff. My wife and I used to love this restaurant but had a terrible experience last time we were there and won't be going back. We came on a busy Friday night two weeks ago and knew service might be a little slow. What we didn't expect was a long hair cooked into my wife's artichoke appetizer that she ended up having to pull out from the back of her throat. It was revolting. When we brought it to the waitress's attention she took it away and was barely apologetic. She brought us a new dish and we reluctantly finished our apps to give the place another shot. We were then asked by the staff if we were ready for dessert and it became apparent our main courses hadn't been put in. After a 30 minutes wait, with still no main course, we demanded the check and told the waitress we wanted to leave. After trying to tell us that our mains were "coming out", she came back with the check charging us for the second artichoke app. When we raised that with her, she was incredibly rude and told us that she had "brought us a second one." Rather than engage with such an unpleasant staff member any further we paid our bill and left. We then went to Barano nearby and had an actually pleasant meal. Felt very comfortable - tables distances and plexiglass in between Service - everyone was very accommodating and the food had come out VERY fast. Did not feel rushed at all during the meal. Definitely suggest making a reservation!!!!! Drinks - my friend had tried the grand st and I had the domino - both were DELICIOUS and refreshing. Could've kept drinking them. This was one of the best dinner experiences I've ever had in a long time. The food was fantastic and the outdoor patio seating is beautiful - the greenery and pseudo-ceiling keep it intimate yet airy and outdoors. This is the perfect spot for a date or anniversary. We ordered the bolognese and the truffle pappardelle. Both were very well done and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The truffles were not overpowering at all and the bolognese sauce was very delicious. They are known for their orange wines so we also got a bottle with the food and were very happy with the decision. It goes very well with the pastas. For dessert we got the lemon tart and the affogato. Both were quite delicious but the hazelnut crips and creamy gelato in the affogato made it really standout. The presentation of the food and the flexibility of the host is what earned 2 stars. The host was kind enough to push our reservation back when I called ahead because we were a few minutes behind but only arrived 5 minutes late. I appreciate that and he had no issue. The waitress took our orders for our food and drinks and once everything arrived, no one payed attention to us.. No one asked if we wanted another beverage, even though everyone's drink glass was empty. Granted there was water a the table for us to refills our glasses. But what if we wanted another cocktail or a coffee? No one checked in to see how the food was, if everything was okay, or if we needed anything.. That's a little strange at I right? Believe me I completely understand we're dealing with a pandemic and we're social distancing. But come on, ask me if everything is okay at least. The food was decent. Aurora is a wonderful Italian restaurant in Williamsburg. We came here for brunch on Sunday around 12:45. We were seated right away in the patio area. We actually had the top section to ourselves for about 40 minutes which was quite lovely. That area in particular is such a perfect date spot, you can hear the person your with clearly, faint music and conversations of the other tables as background noise. The plants line the walls and there is an umbrella overhead to provide shade from the sun and from the rain. Although we were seated right away, the service wasn't as swift. Our male waiter asked for our orders after we sat down and we asked for a couple minutes to review the menu. It took him 12-15 minutes to come back to us. We decided to order everything at once because we didn't want to have to wait for him to remember to check on us. My partner read a description of aurora in a newsletter. It described it as a good Italian restaurant that is especially great if you're not in a rush/ don't have plans. After the first 15 minutes I understood/agreed with that description. We ordered ravioli, Apple compote French toast and crispy polenta. We had bread with olive oil before eating. The ravioli was definitely homemade and delicious. Unfortunately it wasn't as warm as I would've liked when it was brought out so it may have been sitting for some minutes. It also came out the same time as a ravioli at the table next to us that they had ordered less than 10 minutes before. It took about 20-25 minutes for our dishes to arrive. He really loved the crispy polenta. He said it was cooked well and the flavors really worked well together. We enjoyed the apple compote French toast, the apple compote was in the middle and the toast was covered with berries. The French toast is definitely a must have!! There was a bridal shower or something in the patio area. It definitely a great place for parties, celebrations etc- the whole restaurant can be booked or just a portion. All and all it's a really great place and we'll come back..we just might request a different server if we receive the same one we had during this experience. read more

Came to Aurora during covid. Their outdoor setup is really nice with extremely warm heaters and a covered back patio. I made a reservation on OpenTable only a few days before for a Saturday night and was seated immediately after arriving FOOD: food was really delicious and we left feeling very satisfied. That being said, with the high quality of restaurants in NYC, it wasn't anything special, especially given the relatively high price point AMBIANCE: The outdoor setup was nice and very warm; however the tables were rather close together. Also, this may not effect others, but there were some extremely loud large groups when we were there that detracted from the very serene decor SERVICE: The service was pretty slow. Food came out in a timely manner, but getting our order, getting the bill, etc. took longer than we would have liked and left us waiting. Overall, I think Aurora is a cute spot for a neighborhood date night. I had a great time here and I would definitely recommend. Table for 3 with reservation...I was running late and they were so understanding. I love the Rustic decor, seating was accommodating to social distancing. Tables had dividers between them and the outside decor was so comforting wth the lighting And greenery. We had appetizers , fried calamari and a delicious mushroom salad wth figs and nuts I had the ravioli , guests had steak and duck Dessert was the topper ! This was just what the doctor ordered for our first lunch out since PC (Pre-COVID-19). The atmosphere in the lovely garden area is great - enough bustle to be interesting but very relaxed. The newly installed screens between tables and the masked servers made us feel very comfortable, but it didn't detract from the vibe we were looking for...which was holiday weekend lunch kick-off! The best part was of course the food. We started with the prosciutto, burrata and focaccia, followed by a special entree of fettuccini with shaved truffle (perfectly balanced and not overpowering) and a traditional tagliatelle bolognese which was was perfect from the al dente pasta to the pork and beef ragu. We got the Croquettes, Fried Calamari, pork chops and spinach tagliatelle. The pork chops were probably the best thing we had to eat. It was very tender and juicy and well seasoned. The tagliatelle was good but could have been a meatier portion. The appetizers were also really good. Would return for the pork chops for sure!!! Also had the Grand St. drink which was really good. Such an amazing experience at Aurora! I came in on a Friday night after a friend had recommended this spot to me and was so glad that I did. I sat at the bar, ordered a cocktail, and had the loveliest dinner. The bar is first-come-first-served and I was able to snag a spot right away! For my cocktail, I ordered the Domino (casamigos blanco, pamplemousse grapefruit liqueur, fresh lime) after going back and forth between that and the Grand St. The Domino was delicious, highly recommend. For food, I started with the Tuscan Kale salad (Tuscan kale, brussels sprouts, pistachio, lemon oil, pecorino oro), followed by the Cacio e pepe and everything was incredible. The salad was tasty and exciting and the cacio e pepe was melt-in-your-mouth good. I would eat it every day if I could. Also ordered a glass of the Montepulciano wine and I was a huge fan.
