    Thali
    Samyukta S.

I typically visit Dana Foods when I'm craving a lunch thali, but today decided to give this new restaurant in Avery ranch a try. Unfortunately it did not meet the mark. I ordered the lunch thali (non veg). Asked them to make a substitution which they were accommodating about. The food came out lukewarm/cold. There's nothing less appealing than cold rasam. The flavors were pretty bland; the only item that was halfway decent was the veg chettinad curry. Price was steep at $17 after taxes. Service was overall fine and quick. This one is a skip IMO

Went to Austin Adhurs on new years for lunch. It was one of the few businesses open on a holiday. First impressions - place looked very new, beautiful seating and dishes. We had the non veg thali, for the cheapest price I have ever seen. And the food was really good. Loved the mutton curry and chicken dish. Also had the dosa with chicken curry. My friend had the veg thali and loved it as well. Overall, really good option for thali. A al carte menu prices are in par with other restaurants. But the food is good.

The portion sizes were generous too, so you definitely get good value for your money. Service - 10/10: The service really stood out. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about our experience. They checked in on us throughout the meal without being intrusive, which made us feel well taken care of. Ambiance - 7/10: The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and welcoming, but the atmosphere is fairly simple. It's not a place I'd choose for a fine dining experience, but it's perfect for a casual meal with family or friends. One small change that could make a big difference would be swapping the bright white lighting for warmer yellow lighting--it would instantly create a cozier, more inviting vibe. Overall: If you're craving authentic North Indian food in the Austin area, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Great food, excellent service, generous portions, and a satisfying dining experience. I'll definitely be back!

Still an awesome value for the quality and quantity of food we get, and we appreciate the adjustable spice levels! They always ask, and then double check after the food is served, to make sure it's what you wanted. I like extra spicy, and they gave me the "make the gori cry" level, and the Hop Queen likes extra mild, and it fits her tolerance well.

Have you ever walked into an ethnic spot, looked around and saw nothing but people of that culture?…read moreTHAT'S EXACTLY what happened to me when I came here with the fam. It was a little intimidating but mostly exciting. The vibe here was mostly straight business. Waiters standing around like in a military stance, legs shoulder width apart, hands behind their backs waiting for any signs from their tables needing anything. I will keep it 100 and say that our waiter wasn't exactly warm and inviting but they were attentive. The atmosphere is decorated ornately and kinda made me feel like an emperor of sorts, or at least some random squire in the court. We ordered an absolute feast ranging from chicken tikka masala, to garlic naan, rice, samosas, a fresh mango yogurt drink and some flavored tea. Everything was delicious and jam packed with spices. This was one of the few restaurant experiences I've had in the past couple years where I gorged beyond my usual limit bc it was THAT good. My one minor complaint is the chicken tikka masala was more sauce than actual chicken which I found somewhat annoying but I quickly forgave them. The bill came soon after I requested it and the price was fair considering the quality of food we got was top notch. This place has got it going on like a fine lady from Beverly Hills but as you'd expect some attitude from a gorgeous lass that knows she's got it going on, the same can be said for a great restaurant. Ignore the 'tude and come enjoy the grub, it's worth it.

They connect with you. They make sure you are well served, satisfied. Things to note on the food, their weekly specials are unmissable. Such an innovative start to keep rotating specials. Best Thatte idli and benne dosa in town. Their special goat biryani is awesome. Whenever we don't cook, we land into Sangam. It's an oasis in the relatively mediocre Austin Indian food scene. A literal desert oasis.

We were the only ones outside with this kind of order. The chicken was okay, fried no spice or flavor. Apollo fish was friend in beans batter or something. Again was okay. Aug 13, 2025 review for PARMER branch location…read more ---- I understand that this is the page for Leander Location but I'm leaving the review here since they don't have the yelp page created yet for PARMER location. We went there on a weekday dinner around 8pm. They just had the grand opening couple of days ago. We ordered masala dosa and veg uttpam. Both items came quickly. I was really amazed to see their plate and utensils. Sambhar came in a really big bowl and all 3 chutneys (coconut, peanut, tomato) were also good. The waitress came to check in on us after few mins. We provided her feedback. Restaurant is spacious and restrooms were clean. Location is good as lot of Indian families in this area but good competition as well with other south Indian restaurant. They also have bunch of pastry and snacks options pre made and available at the counter. Its a women owned restaurant. Really nice to see another good restaurant in this area.

There was one customer waiting, and not another person. I waited about ten minutes. My son loves chicken Tikka masala, so we ordered him some. It is spicy. I'm into a moderate spice, and this is burning my lips as I type. There was no option when ordering online to determine level of spice so we weren't ready for that. Beyond the spice the chicken was tough, so even if the spice was toned down the chicken wasn't great. The tandoori chicken is nice and flavorful and tender. $17 for three drumsticks and two thighs might be a bit steep. Overall not an overwhelmingly good experience.

The restaurant is clean, well decorated and ready for your visit! The staff are super friendly. I drove home with my order and it was piping hot and spectacular. Many other locals have tiny bits of paneer in a sea of gravy. At Tamarind you will not be disappointed! Don't miss the potato samosas... Come on Austin, let's show these guys more lunch time love!

Please remember they make their dishes per order and this takes time. A good curry or biryani is not made in 15 minutes. We ordered several dishes. To start we had the samosas, pakoras, and my child had the children's chicken lollypop appetizer. For the main dishes we had the hydrabadi chicken biryani, aloo chole, and my child had the keema child's biryani. We also had the mint cilantro chutney and it reminds me of homemade chutney. All were very flavorful and very fresh. My aloo was served with a good portion of rice. All the portions were large. We ate here on Sunday and we still have leftover biryani and I'm finishing my aloo. One thing we noticed that was odd compared to where I usually visit was the server. They were kind of awkward at first and had the "melinneal stare." BUT consider that people can be neurodivergent! The service was great and prompt. It was a bit warm, but the server heard our comments and went and moved a big fan they had out to combat how warm it was. I highly recommend trying them out! To the chefs - please please please put the tomato dahl you have on your online ordering! I'd come here weekly to taste your version.

We ordered the pepper chicken, Andhra chicken curry, Hyderabad chicken dum biryani and garlic naan. The pepper chicken had good flavor. The chicken biryani came with two pieces of chicken on a bone and the flavor was good. I will need to come back to try more items. This place was definitely busy with to go orders.

One of the most memorable dishes we had was a special that our server highly recommended--and it was truly a showstopper. I wish I had gotten the exact name because I can't find it on their online menu, but visually and flavor-wise it was stunning. It came wrapped and cooked in a banana leaf, layered with rich, velvety saag, what tasted like thin dosa or chapati layers, egg, aromatic spices, tender chunks of meat, and curry, all melded together into this beautifully perfumed, steamy package. It was served with a cooling yogurt sauce and a chili sauce that balanced the heat perfectly. The presentation alone was gorgeous, and the flavors were deep, earthy, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered the curry goat, which was delicately spiced with a wonderful, slow-building heat. The meat was tender, the gravy rich without being heavy, and it paired perfectly with the simple white rice that let the complex spices shine. The tandoori goat chops were the family favorite by far. Everyone loved the smoky char and bold marinade. Personally, I found them a bit softer than I prefer, but the flavor was outstanding--robust, well-seasoned, and unmistakably tandoori. Finally, we ordered the Tandoori Pomfret to go, and I had it later with rice porridge. It was absolutely scrumptious. The fish was fragrant, beautifully spiced, and still juicy, making it the perfect comfort meal with the warm, soothing porridge. Overall, Subham Chettinad Grill delivers authentic, soulful Indian cooking with layers of spice, heat, and aroma that feel both traditional and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for real South Indian and Chettinad-style flavors in Austin, this place is a must-try.

Nov 23, 2025 review: -----…read more I went here again after year and half and liked the food here. We got complimentary papdi chat which had papdi, green chutney, yogurt and sweet chutney on top of it. For 4 people, we got 2 plates. We ordered spring onion dosa, kottu parantha, paneer butter masala, garlic naan, and butter roti. It was more than enough for 4 people. Spring Onion dosa was crisy and filled with all the veggies like capsicum, carrot, onion, cabbage. We asked for kottu parantha with paneer and it was blended well. Portion size was also good. Paneer butter masala was ok, lot of gravy and spices. Naan and roti were decent. Staff was generous. We got food in very short time. They messed up with our cheque though. We paid for 85 dollars and wondering after payment why the amount was so high. After few hours, restaurant manager called us to tell he messed up and we paid for other table. Our total was 56 dollars. We went there to pay again with corrected amount. Overall decent experience but keep an eye on your cheque and ask for receipt later on.
