I decided to use Austin Subaru for their "expertise" being a Subaru repair shop. They've had my car for over 3 months. No communication, no updates, nothing. I have to call continuously to hear anything from anyone. And when I do hear from them, it's nothing helpful - "We'll let you know, we'll call you with an update" Yeah, right. I have no idea what's going on in there at the shop. I've been without my daily for 3+ months, been having to find different ways to get around town. And I still wasn't given any time table when my car will be done. This has to be one of the worse experiences I've been through. I see no value on using them for their services. There hasn't been any advisor there that's been helpful in this situation. They just keep passing my car along to the next advisor who's just going to keep bullshi**ing me when I ask for updates. Now I need to find the time to go to the dealership and see if I can get an answer in person. Since they can't handle dealing with customers over the phone. SOA will surely hear about this experience. read more

I recently bought a used Volkswagen from this dealership. The car was in great condition for the price, and the pricing was very competitive with other similar models that I found elsewhere on the internet at the time. They were very proactive in setting up an appointment to test drive the car. Steve Carter made the sales process very transparent during the test drive and John Martinez's closing of the sale went exactly as Steve said it would. I got no impression of dishonesty from them, and that made the buying experience pretty easy, as far as buying a used car goes. There were a couple of small issues with the car that Steve and John assured me would be completed, even though the car was being sold as-is. They made good on all of their promises in a timely manner. The only thing that I think could have been improved would have been some of the communications after the sale, I wasn't sure about the process for getting new tags, and I had to call a couple of times to find out the details because they didn't bring it up. All in all, I could see how some small things might fall through the cracks because this location was always super busy every time that I visited. If they can remember that a minor issue for a dealer could be an important issue for a buyer, then some of the negative comments that I have seen about the dealership here on Yelp could be avoided. When people are spending several thousand dollars on a vehicle, it would be better for a dealership to err on the side of over-communication. read more

Brought my car in for an oil change an inspection on Tuesday, July 7th. Diagnosed with a bad clutch. I had replaced the clutch only four years ago with this dealership. The car has 27k miles. Subaru national agreed to pitch in 1k for the second clutch replacement, and advised I ask the dealership to get the cost down as well (because, apparently, I have a lemon; the replacement is 2.2k). Wednesday I talked to my service person, Dundrae, and relayed this information around 4:15 p.m. or so. He said the manager, Gus, had left for the day but would talk to him Thursday morning. I didn't hear from anyone all day Thursday. I emailed Dundrae and the email bounced. So I called on Friday. I was dumped into voicemail. I called again and was put on hold for ten minutes. I finally spoke to someone who said Dundrae was unavailable and Gus would be calling me with information. I called Subaru national with my case number. My representative, Katrina, was out for the day. I was put on hold for ten minutes. I was told Subaru national would call the dealership and try to help me get my car back or at least have the dealership provide me with a loaner, because the dealership did not offer me a loaner. Instead, they offered me a Lyft ride home with a Trump supporter, which was unpleasant. I have been without a car for four days and no communication or information for two days. Not only do I have a lemon vehicle, but apparently, a lemon dealership too. read more

We recently bought a car here that had to be bought back by Subaru due to some defects, it was dumb luck on everyone's part. However, the sales manager, Ray was SO dang helpful during all of this that I had to write a review about how great he ensured my experience was. Most sales managers stay away from you like they're some elite class of automotive royalty. We all know you're not, you just have more suits than most people and hid your cigarettes well. Ray is NOT that sales manager. He was above and beyond helpful with acquiring a vehicle from another dealership, helpful with the sale and delivery for me and then finally really helpful with the return. Now this was October and the 2020's were almost all gone when we bought our first car and wanted a very specific package for a car that was getting close to sold out. We ended up not being able to do the replacement deal with Ray which was sad because he had hustled hard for us so I wanted to point him out in public. Ray is not only a sales manager, he is what you want the salesman you HAVE to deal with to be when you do find a salesman. That's important that he is the mentor there for these other salesman. I did my research before contacting any dealerships. I called and texted Andrew D. before visiting the dealership and he was very helpful with texts and emails. When we met up at the dealership, he pointed us to cars that matched closely what we wanted. He listened to us and was able to make suggestions to better meet our specific needs. He didn't try to change our direction or push us in any direction. He was helpful and showed us everything we wanted to see. We appreciated his low pressure and customer centered approach. This was a very relaxed and not stressful experience for us. So far everyone else we have met at the dealership ...finance people, accessory sales people, service desk, parts, coffee bar, reception and other sales staff has also been equally helpful and customer centered. Hadi Farasat is fantastic. I'm not sure what else to say besides how fantastic he is to work with. Not only did he help my fiance purchase a vehicle, but he did so without any sales pitches or pressure. He delivered answers to her questions, information he felt we might value, followed by his opinion, and later on, he showed us third party information to validate his answers. I don't 100% believe anything people say that are trying to sell me something, so I always double check what they say. Hadi was on point with everything he told us. He came in on his day off and finished the sale even though I tried to get him to do it on a day he worked. He's a really great guy and super knowledgeable. For the women reading this, I feel like I need to point out one very big thing that Hadi did that impressed me - he was sincere and respectful with my fiance. No question was a dumb question, and he took the time to explain his answers. I know some sales people will talk to women differently than men, and we should be far beyond that treatment, but it definitely still happens. If any of our female friends want to look at a Subaru, I would recommend him because I know he will treat them right. read more

Unfortunately, I did not leave the dealership with an Outback as I had hoped. I worked with Daniel Sosa and we test drove a 2019 Outback. The vehicle was wonderful! However, it exceeded what I budgeted for a monthly payment. My lending was already approved w/ UFCU. Instead of offering other options as I would have been happy to look at something a year or two older, it was clear he was done. I proceeded down Burnet to Roger Beasley and drove home my CX 5 in the matter of 2.5 hours. A much better buying experience. read more

They get two stars for not being too pushy on the sales front and being nice and accommodating on the service front, but besides that it was a fairly miserable dealership experience when it came to the sales department. I like to think of myself as an easy customer. I knew what I wanted (one of their "Certified" Pre Owned Crosstreks, more on that in a bit) and had a budget in mind for what I wanted to spend. They had a listed price online, and of course I got the very standard "but I'll give it to you for $500 less than that!" once I made it to the dealership. I've read from other review responses that they still claim to negotiate, but despite multiple attempts at asking for just a few hundred dollars off, they simply wouldn't budge. These guys simply don't negotiate on the selling price of the vehicle. They'll try and act like negotiating the trade-in price is their way of meeting you half way, but that's just typical car salesman b.s. You should always negotiate the sales price of a vehicle before you even start talking about the trade-in value. In this case, all they did was match the Carmax offer I had on the vehicle I was trading in, which is fairly standard practice (of course they claimed up front that they give fair trade in offers on par with Carmax, but they ended up being laughably off on their first try.) Let me be clear though, matching a Carmax offer is in no way a replacement for actual negotiation on the sales price of a vehicle, which Austin Subaru flat out refused to do. Once I had agreed to their non-negotiated price (which was still a decent price, just not the price I was hoping for), I was told all the paperwork was ready and I just had to come in and sign papers. I got there at the agreed upon time and ended up sitting in the sales office for over an hour waiting for the financial manager to get my paperwork ready. Why was I told the paperwork was ready when it obviously wasn't? Who knows. Once in the financial manager's office, I was subject to one of the most awkward hard pushes for an extended warranty I've experienced. I'm always a firm "no" on these as I've had multiple vehicles and always seen these as a waste of money (plus aren't Subaru's known for their reliability?) Despite giving what I thought was a firm but polite "no" to all the warranties offered, I felt like I was awkwardly guilt-tripped multiple times as I was trying to sign paperwork about how I could still come in the next day to get the warranty if I changed my mind. No means no, my man. As mentioned previously, I bought a "Certified Pre Owned" Crosstrek that had supposedly gone through a 100 point inspection per Subaru's definition of CPO, and on the way home I had not one but THREE warning lights come on. How does that get missed during a supposed extensive 100 point inspection? I went back the next day and they "flashed" it to get the warning lights off, which they said these cars require from time to time. Maybe do that before you let a customer drive off the lot with it? Shouldn't that be part of the CPO 100 point inspection? You would think so, but at Austin Subaru, you would be wrong. The icing on the cake (and the reason I finally decided to write this review) was that I had expressed multiple times during the paperwork process that I wanted the car registered to the plates I had already bought from MyPlates.com. I've had the same plates on my last two vehicles so I knew transferring them between vehicles was not a problem. Despite speaking up and making sure multiple times that I wanted the car registered to my existing plates, a month later I get a whole new set of plates in the mail. What a frustrating mess. read more

They also have a cafe that serves free stuff: latte cappuccino, warm cookies, soda etc.. complete with a barrista. Waiting area is comfortable, wifi, tv, lounge chairs. Sold me what was suppose to be a "certified" car. The cearly changed parts and specs on the car before given it to me after I purchased it. Then they wanted to charge me to fix the issues they cuased. It gets worst, on 11/12/2020 Subaru of Austin made a fraudulent charge to my AMEX in the amount of $60.35. However, my 2017 outback is stil not fixed and it appears that yet another issue has shown. My car is a bit more than a year old from date purchased, the issues has been on-going. I would like all issues addressed and fixed. I would also like a reimburment for the cost of an aligment; $80. read more

Will Heller was professional and courteous. I had a few issues that I do want to address. After leaving the dealership, I needed to get a tire patched and my tire lock was removed from my car and kept at the dealership. The initial call was unpleasant as they claimed they didn't have it. Only until asking them to ask the technician, they located my tire lock. I also left a pair of shoes in my loaner car that was not able to be recovered as they never turned up. I don't plan on returning to this location for service. read more

It's the little things... I went back to Austin Subaru for another repair (if you haven't caught on, my car needs a lot of attention - but it is still better than a car payment!). They noticed, as I recently had, that one of the reverse lights was out. I was planning on just swinging by a auto parts store and replacing it myself to save some money from having them do it. However, without any fanfare, they replaced it for me - no charge for parts (less than $3 on the slip) or labor! Not to say that they always comp the little things (after all, I had to pay the $8 for the battery for my remote my first time in). But, this was definitely a nice gesture! Oh yeah, and if you haven't noticed, I'm back in the "Subaru family". Their response to my original issue was excellent enough that I will continue to return to Austin Subaru for repairs. :-) read more

I'll start by saying I owned a 2010 Subaru Outback and it was the best car I have ever had . I drove it to 60000 miles with zero problems not even a battery and I got hit by a drunk driver so I traded my wrecked car in and and they didn't low ball me they offered me thousands over what any dealership offered me for it so I bought a preowned 2011 Toyota Prius with under 30000 miles and for cheaper then I found anywhere from Austin to San Antonio , they were focused on my wants and needs and didn't try to push me into something to expensive or up sell me on unnecessary warranties ...two weeks went by after I purchased my Prius and I was extremely unhappy with my choice in cars so Ralph my salesman and eddy the manager took my concerns and problems as if they were their own and allowed and helped me to trade in my Prius for exactly what I payed for it allowing me to purchase the car that satisfied not only my back problems but my wants and my needs . I'm eternally indebted to those two men for helping me thru such a Difficult and stressful time . I recently stopped by here just to look at a vehicle they had in there lot. It was a 2011 Tacoma truck. I went inside and met sales manager Jason McEntire who gave me a brief overview of the vehicle and offered to take a test drive with him, I fell in love with it immediately. When we returned I met his top salesman Ihab who had a lil more details I needed about the vehicle. After a little while talking they helped me run a credit check and showed me what a great deal I could have this truck at, I said sign me up, seconds later I was with their business manager Pamela Lynn who went over the buying process, a great extended warranty they offered which cost pennies and all the after purchase encentives they have. The whole experience was a breath of fresh air really. These guys at Austin Subaru really are statesman and ambassadors of the industry. Austin Subaru used retouched photo on internet advertisement!!! ==================================================== I was shopping for a car for my daughter and saw what I wanted on Austin Subaru's web site, looked closely at pictures (for scratches, dings, etc. on the exterior, rips, stains, etc. on the interior) and all seemed good. Took an afternoon off from work to drive (in Loop 1 traffic) to dealer and then once I arrived I figured I would find car myself without a salesman, found car in just a few minutes. Here is where I was shocked - the car (I double checked window ID vs. internet add to make sure it was the correct car) did NOT look like the photos!! The front and rear bumpers had quite large areas where the paint was scraped off due to an accident, the rear bumper being the worst, an area of about 3 inches by 1.5 inches had the silver paint gone so you could see black underneath. Went back to the internet add, downloaded picture of the same bumper area to my phone so I could zoom in. Sure enough, once I was aware of where to look I could see definite evidence that the photo had been retouched as the silver in the suspect area was a slightly different shade! I am note sure about advertising laws here in Texas but at the very least I would call this practice deceitful and dishonest. After discovering that the photo was touched up I turned around and left the dealer, bringing my business elsewhere (if they 'lied' about the exterior paint what else might they be covering up???)! read more

Have my Subaru Forester only 19 days today, so cannot comment on the service yet. So this review is on the buying experience. Tony Nguyen is an absolute super salesman; no high pressure, just pleasant and helpful, very knowledgeable on the product, appropriate follow up, and assistance with negotiating a price that is fair to all. Kat in the Design Center, was proficient in explaining the window tint and interior/exterior protection options, and Masha was terrific at reviewing the wealth of features in a vehicle that includes so much technology. There was only one thing I would have changed; I was unprepared to spend so much time at the dealership when I came to pick up my car. Since there was no loan, I thought It would be a very quick process, but I was there for hours. Most of that time was spent in explaining various optional products and services I could add on. I felt that I could have received that information in advance, giving me the opportunity to decide which, if any, I might be interested in, and saving all of us wasted time. But other than that, it was a very satisfying experience. read more

Not your normal dealership experience! We walked in to Subaru and were greeted by friendly staff who got us someone to assist us in looking at a Crosstrek. From that point on we worked with Steve Carter who is absolutely wonderful. He knows his stuff but does not pressure you whatsoever, it felt more like hanging with an old friend than buying a car. The cars speak for themself if you've been in one! We thought we would just go for a ride that day and walked out as new owners and could not be happier with our decision. Had to take my 2014 WRX in for a knocking noise in the engine at 47k miles. I worked with service advisor Christian Perez who was very polite, nice, and friendly. He immediately had me in a brand new loaner car and let me know before I even left that my engine would need to be replaced and luckily it was still under powertrain warranty. He called me with updates when needed and was very pleasant to work with. I got my car back in a reasonable amount of time and they even washed it for me! The service I received was beyond what you'd expect from a typical car dealer. They have won me over and I will always be a customer from here on out. The sales people at this dealership will not negotiate. We had a quote from a Subaru dealership south of Austin and we were purchasing through the Costco Auto Program. Austin Subaru does not offer the quoted Costco Auto Program price. When I shared the quoted price with a salesperson here, he sent me an email stating that the quoted price was, "to good to be true( sic)" and I was invited to do business with Austin Subaru for a "fair price" which was zero discount. A second salesperson told my husband on the phone that Subaru prohibited them from selling below a certain price. Gotta call BS on that. So, if you want a new Subaru at a really good price, do yourself a favor and drive a little further south on I-35. We got the exact car I wanted for a little LESS than the Costco Auto Program quoted price due to our initial on-line contact with the dealership. read more

We just got a new 2018 Subaru Forester from Austin Subaru to update our 2014 Forester. We LOVED our old Forester, but with safety features of recent years improving so much we wanted to have those for our road trips - the Forester is a GREAT road trip vehicle. We got our 2014 with excellent help from Danny Sosa, so we called him and explained what we wanted to look at. When we arrived we did a quick road test and got a very fair deal and got our 2018 version with the vehicle he had chosen for our road test. With good trade-in value on our 2014 Subaru we accepted the deal on the spot. One thing new this year is that after you have the vehicle for a few weeks, they have you come back for a hands on lesson in all the vehicle features and electronics. We spent over an hour in our car learning all the capabilities it has with the safety features, navigation and entertainment system.
