You can't get an appointment with these guys for service even when you have a known issue that has been subject to a recall. They want you to use their so-called Express Service, which means come in and wait your turn for as long as it takes. Who has time for that? I love my car but hate this service department. read more

First, I hate shopping for cars. My beloved Honda finally became too expensive to fix, and I'm a fan of Subarus, so my choice of car wasn't too difficult. I found what I was looking for in an ad from Austin Subaru, so I contacted them, cautiously, afraid of a bait-and-switch. My salesperson, Jake K, was great. He had the car ready for us to view and test-drive when we arrived. The process was painless. We met several folks, including Jeremy (finance?), and there was ZERO hard sell on anything. I discovered a minor issue, and while they couldn't fix it, immediately, they gave us a loaner, and it was ready the next morning. Then, after driving it for a couple of days, I heard a chirping/squeak that gave me some concern. I called and told them, and Tony (in service) asked me to bring it in. They took care of that within a day. While it wasn't a 'perfect' experience, I sincerely believe that the issues were honest mistakes, and they handled them in the most positive, stress-free way possible. The fact that they made even 'problems' as easy as could be, will ensure that when we're looking for another car, next spring, for my wife, they will be my first stop. I've had my car serviced here twice and they are always friendly, prompt, and do a great job. I also like the free carwash that comes with the oil change/service, and the coffee they provide in the waiting room. The guys here have even stayed late to let me pick up my car when I couldn't get out of work before close. And, when I told them I wasn't going to get my tires replaced at the dealership because I could get them cheaper somewhere else, the guy I was working with agreed with me and kindly pointed me to tirerack.com, which was awesome. He said I could buy the tires there, and get them put on at the dealership. However - and this is true of all dealerships - I feel as though I'm always getting waaaay over-quoted (double or triple what private shops will charge) and sold needless services. I'm also not a big fan of sales-y scare tactics (example: If you don't get this fixed for $5,000 - insert huge logical jump - your car will die or you will certainly have to spend twice as much getting this other thing fixed later!). But it's a dealership, so what's new. So, prompt service, nice waiting room, free carwash, and free coffee means I will probably continue getting a slightly expensive oil change/service here just to take my car to a bona-fida Subaru place at least once a year. However, they sell needless services and over-quote greatly so I will be getting my second opinions and taking my big ticket repairs elsewhere. I feel I would probably give them 3 stars if they weren't a dealership and I wasn't already expecting to be overcharged going in. read more

I was searching for a used car and stopped by Austin Subaru to test drive a 2013 Hyundai Accent hatchback. My sales rep was Joel McColl and he was great. The car was still in the detailing shop, but Joel asked if we could still take it for a test drive. They obliged and we had the car on the road in just a few minutes. This is a review of the service department. I took my car in for a transmission issue which luckily was covered under warranty. Also decided to have the drivers side seat looked at as there was a giant hole in the fabric. Was charged over 900 to repair the seat which seems excessive. When I picked up the car it was dirtier than when I dropped it off. Old seat cover was thrown in back seat for me to throw away. I had taken my car here a couple of years prior and had the same poor service previously. Employees were in rush to get me off the lot. read more

When I went in to Austin Subaru last week, I had prepared myself to leave without a car and still have a week of haggling ahead of me to get my price. Jake was my sales associate and he made the whole experience so easy. I spoke with him on the phone before coming in during my lunch hour and he had everything set up for the appraisal of my trade and test drive by the time I showed up 20 minutes later. By the time we came back from the test drive, Alvin had finished my appraisal. The numbers were initially very competitive, and when I told Jake that I had a better offer on my trade from another dealer, he went off to speak to his manager and see what he could do. By the time I came back from getting a coffee from their complementary café in the back of the shop, Jake had made my numbers happen. I was tempted to walk away and see if they called me with better numbers later in the day (like other dealers), but then I realized how crazy it was to leave when they had made everything I asked for happen in 20 minutes. I committed to the purchase and came back after work to sign paperwork. During the final stages of the sale, a couple different add-ons were offered, but not pushed on me. When all was said and done, Jake helped me move my belongings from my trade into my new car and sent me on my way before the sun set. The total process took 2 hours and was about as stress free as it gets. I thought I had received good service at other dealers until I came to Austin Subaru and realized how easy and stress free car buying could be. 10/10 recommend this dealer and Jake to absolutely anyone in the market for a new or used car. My fiancée had wanted a new car for 2 years. Here 10 year old civic was getting a bit long in the tooth. We shopped around and found that she like the outback. So we did our research and knew what we wanted to pay and what options we wanted. We went test driving and the sales man was very helpful. He let us take it on our own and go where we wanted. "Just bring it back in one piece". He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the car. A few months later we went in to buy the car. We worked with the same sales man and the process was painless. We identified the car we wanted, how much we were putting down, and made sure we got the special rate. Then the sales pitch: "What do I have to do to sell this car?" Take 1,500 off the MSRP. Thinks about it, DONE. The car arrived 3 days earlier than expected. We finished the paper work and talked to the financial guy about other options (Warranty). After that we drove the car home. There was absolutely no pressure in the process. We got what we wanted at the price we wanted. The sales people where there to inform us about the car and the process not strong arm us into buying stuff we didn't want or need. I hope the service department is just as good. Probably a good spot if you can actually get them to respond to any of your inquiries - was pretty much ghosted upon inquiring over many vehicles. I was pretty excited to own my first Subaru or even a used vehicle from their lot, but no response even when I spoke to one of their sales reps (Ayron.) Was not even offered a business card.. truly bizarre for a car dealership. I guess if you look young and Hispanic they think less of you? Not sure but do better Subaru of Austin. Had the pleasure last week of meeting and dealing with sales person Misty Martin when purchasing a used vehicle for my daughter. We had come into business knowing which car we wanted to check out after reviewing their inventory on line. We had been to several car lots in Austin where the inventory was terribly overpriced and the vehicles were in sad shape, one guy had to give us money to put gas in a vehicle for us to test drive! But as Austin Subaru there was an entirely different and positive experience. Misty promptly had the veh brought around for us to test drive. She didn't try to upsell us or suggest different vehicles. The car was beautifully detailed and pristine inside and out. Service records were on hand for us to review as was the Carfax. No issues with our 2016 Subaru Outback... the process of taking the car in for an oil change is crazy. This will be my last visit. The website says the express is fast, that is a lie. thank you to the guys at subaru for treating me and my car right! I was literally turned down by 3 different mechanics for a simple oil change on my subaru.. apparently they found it too difficult with silicone around the bolts or they didn't have the parts. Subaru go my oil change done in 2 hours and discovered the plug was stripped and replaced it for me. So far, looks like the oil leak was coming from that plug and now its gone. good job guys! the overall experience there was 2hrs and $100. but to me it was worth it read more

Service department experience. New location seemed roomier. Christian was very clear in explaining things. The waiting room provided a free iced vanilla latte and a croissant. The loaner car was Honda, but it drove fine. Communication was excellent, they sent me a text to report what they found with descriptions of what needed to be done, classified by "urgent" and "recommended" links to more detailed information were provided, and the price for repair. I was able to choose YES or No on each of the three items. It was followed by a phone call to confirm and set a possible time of completion. I later received a call a little after 5:00 to tell me it was done. Since I live in far South Austin, I scheduled a pick up for the next morning. I went over the bill with Christian, provided a credit card, and obtained my iced latte and was out the door very quickly. I only rated it four stars because of the over one year wait for the part described in the next paragraph. As always dealer service is more pricey for the brake pads and rotors. There were two warranty items that needed attention. A wiper motor and the passenger airbag. I was most disappointed by the fact that I was notified of the airbag problem one-full year before they had the replacement part. The notice also included a warning for no one to sit in the passenger seat. NICE try to put the liability on to me if I let my wife ride in the front seat for the next year. During the time that it took to obtain the airbag, I received monthly pamphlets and emails asking me to trade in my car for a new one. The new cars all had the good airbags. If I had traded my car in would they have found an airbag to put in or would they have sold it as is? If you are buying a used car make sure airbags are up-to-date. This was a corporate decision to sell their new cars without fixing the cars of owners first. The priorities are clear profit is king. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Leased a 2017 Impreza Sport in February 2017, the car was fine until the head unit caused safety concerns, so I went through a buyback. Instead of trying to retain my sale, Brent Baker (general manager) refused to have a reasonable negotiation about the purchasing of a different vehicle, and to this day, has refused to apologize (or even contact me) for selling me a faulty, unsafe car, and for ignoring how I was treated in the service department. On my way to work one morning, the TPMS system alerted me that my tire pressure was low in one of my tires, so I stop by "Express" service to have it looked at. I had never been through Service, so I was unsure of where to stop when I pulled in. As soon as I pull in, there is one service advisor playing on his computer while shoving a cupcake in his mouth. I don't have a problem as much with the eating while at work (even though it's pretty unprofessional in a public setting like that), but what happened next is what really worked my nerve. I rolled down my window, said hi and asked where I should go to get a tire checked. This employee looks at me, takes another bite of his food, and turns back to his computer, completely ignoring me. While all this is happening, there were 4-5 other service advisors standing in a group a few meters back, watching this unfold, doing absolutely nothing. Finally, someone notices that I am holding up the line because I am not being directed or assisted at all, and parks my car for me. Already irritated with being ignored, I am introduced to my service advisor, which I believe was Christian Perez, who said to have a seat and that they would come get me when it was patched. 3 hours later...I had to ask a sales consultant to find out where my car was, at that point, I was so irate that I needed to leave. Turns out that there was a small nail, and it had been ready 2 hours and 45 minutes ago. That's right, it literally took them 3 hours to tell me my car was ready, and had actually been ready 15 minutes after I first got there, yet service had failed to communicate this with me. Before I left, I told my sales advisor that I wanted to speak to the Service Manager, Chris Hudson, about the situation, and that never happened. I was never contacted by him, and he never came out of his office to talk with me. So, three hours late to work, and made to feel like apparently my customer satisfaction didnt matter after I gave the dealership my business, I can definitely say that the customer service at Austin Subaru is absolute trash. What's worse, is that the management has done nothing to try to change this immature behavior, because they (Brent Baker, and the majority of the Sales Managers) are immature, and unprofessional themselves. For example, another incident that occurred: this past summer a friend of mine and employee at Austin Subaru wanted to make me aware of the false accusations of Finance Assistant, Yelena Smirnova, who openly at her work place committed slander against me and my family, and our ability to afford the current vehicle we have recently financed through Subaru of Georgetown (which is a 2018 WRX). All of her negative comments are unnecessary and frankly untrue (obviously or a financial institution wouldn't have approved my lease...) but despite multiple emails to Timothy Shook, nothing was ever done about the situation. No apology was issued from Yelena Smirnova, or from Timothy Shook, or from anyone else who failed to do their job. No reprimands were ever issued to her, that I am aware of, and Austin Subaru has not given me an apology So bottom line is, the management and majority of the staff (not all) are incapable of providing excellent (or even at least average) customer service. If you're a person who likes to be ignored, disrespected, and undervalued, then Austin Subaru is the perfect place for you. Are you a veteran who served your country and wants to give your hard earned money to those that are privileged, unappreciative, and entitled? Austin Subaru is the place for you! Save your time and money, if you live in or around Austin, go a little further to Subaru of Georgetown, better prices and excellent customer service, way more knowledagble of the brand, also. If you live outside Austin, stay away, you will only leave with regret and disappointment. read more

I was trying to buy a used car and left a note with Austin Subaru that I was looking for a car in a certain price range. I didn't expect them to remember me, but they called me back and I was able to find a great car! Knowing that word of mouth (and yelp) really matters, they care about their customer service and they treat their customers well. I was almost duped by other salesmen, so if you're looking for a used car, this dealer cares about their reputation. Of course you should always get a used car checked out by a mechanic. I had the car checked out by a mechanic from lemonbusters, and for the most part they fixed what the mechanic found- small things- at no cost to me. My one complaint, is that the lemonbuster guy wanted them to replace the 10 year old battery, but when they ran the battery test it seemed fine. The story ends well, because two months later when my battery did die, although I had to pay the towing fee, they did replace the battery for free, at no cost to me, and in a timely manner. Again, their customer service was great. I worked with John Martinez and his boss, Eddie Hummel. I recommend this dealership to my friends and would recommend it to you! read more

Everyone knows Subaru makes a great car, so I don't need to review that here. Here's my review on the experience of leasing our new Forester. My wife and I are those terrible customers that every salesperson should hate, because we ask way too many questions and never seem to make a decision. It took us roughly 3 weeks and 3 visits, plus a multitude of emailed and texted questions and several canceled appointments. Morgan handled us very well. He was completely patient, and even empathized when I apologized for asking so many questions. He never once made us felt rushed to make a decision, and always made himself available for all of our needs. He thanked us several times for coming in a second and third time, and always made me feel like an important customer. While I didn't interact nearly as much with the other employees, the few interactions I did have with the front desk, the finance manager, and Morgan's manager were all very positive. They were always positive, never pushy, and very easy to get along with. I never once felt like I was buying a car, but somehow at the end of it all I came home with the best car I've ever owned.
