So I normally don't write reviews, but I have to tell about a horrible situation i had this past week. I brought my 17 impreza for a state inspection and to investigate a suspension issue. I had an 830 am appointment, I left it the night before. I got a call around 930 to discuss the suspension issue- cool!! Well I don't hear back anything, so around 5pm, I call ... well let's just say for the next hour I can't get a response from anyone or talk to anyone in service. Omg!!!! Why the heck, can't I talk to someone who can open a computer and read what's been done on my car. So finally after an hour I finally talk to someone who tells me that a technician is finally assigned and will look at it sometime- this is 600pm, they've had the car all day. I'm like, screw this give me my car back. How can a huge dealership be so inept and so customer unfriendly in this day and age. I'll never take my car here again nor buy a car from them! Isaac Gray sold me a Mazda this week. The experience was really pleasant and easy. There was no pressure to close the deal after the first test drive. Later in the week, when we finally sat down to settle on the price, we started with what Consumer Reports described as a "great price", added up the extras that I wanted, added TTL, and subtracted the trade-in for my old car. (CarMax had already given me a bid on my old car, so that's what we used for the trade-in amount.) I think I got a good price and Isaac and I didn't have to haggle or play games. read more

I have been buying parts for my Subarus here for about five years. Lots of things I skip getting OEM parts and buy good brands on RockAuto, but for certain things its important to me to get OEM. Usually I buy lower priced parts so I never bother checking prices. Recently I needed a couple big things and they quoted me $256 each. I looked around and found some places (dealership parts departments) quoting as low as $170. In the end I decided to go with a dealer in Plano who quoted me $198 each because they were close enough that if it was a scam or they took forever to ship I could go up and handle it in person. Worst part of the whole thing is that Subaru's MSRP for the parts is $245. They are charging OVER list for parts! Unbelievable. I gave them a chance to match the price I got from Plano INCLUDING THE SHIPPING so they would have been getting $22 per part more than what Plano got and they said "There's no way I can do that price" If you're buying your parts here, you're getting ripped off. If you can plan ahead, order from a different dealer (I'm happy with the unnamed place from Plano. Not naming them because they'll get their own positive review. This review is about the overcharging at Austin Subaru) and have the parts shipped. Guarantee you'll come out with more money in your pocket. read more

My dog, Beau, and I just had our first oil change and tire rotation on our new Outback today at the Subaru dealership on Burnet. This is not to disparage any other dealership but the Subaru treatment of its customers is the best there is. Even the customers waiting with me in the dealership's customer lounge (staffed with a friendly barista ready to serve your every want for a comfortable wait) were friendly and relaxed. Beau was excited to see the bar was serving extra large milk bone biscuits to his delight. He took a nap while I read. Best experience getting a car ever!!! Before meeting Danny Sosa, I had been doing business with Carmax for over 8 years. They were alright and just never changed due to ease. I work a lot and a when it comes to buying cars, I go for ease 100%. A couple weeks ago, I all of the sudden had the need to get a car and I found the exact one I wanted online at the dealership! I contacted Danny and was initially nervous about stepping outside of what I normally do!!!! Like most people, I dread buying a car. However, with the quickly approaching addition of our second child came the increased need for a newer automobile with updated safety features and more reliability. My wife had been driving a late model Infiniti and was pleased with its performance. Therefore, when we began looking, we looked for a newer model Infiniti. Not wanting to take on a significant car note, we searched for a well maintained used Infiniti that we hoped would serve us for the next few years until we got through the initial high cost of child care. We found and bought the car (2002 Infiniti, 115K) from Austin Subaru on February 5, 2011. The experience was generally pleasant (aside from our experience with the then Business Manager, who is now the New Car Sales Manager and is the sole reason I cannot give a fifth star to our experience). To our surprise, about a week ago, approximately 9 weeks after the purchase of the car, the transmission failed to the tune of 2.5K. Although, we realized the car was used, had high mileage and came without a warranty, we were still surprised that a transmission on an Infiniti with 115K failed. Moreover, being familiar with Austin Subaru's reputation, we assumed they would only sell the highest quality automobiles and stand behind the automobiles that they sold despite a lack of manufacture warranty. We might have expected this from an individual or one of those "buy here/pay here" places, but not from Austin Subaru. When we showed up on Austin Subaru's front door step with our problem the Used Car Manager, Roy Reyes, worked hard to help right the wrong. Although he asserted that it was a used car, as-is, with no warranty, he also insisted Austin Subaru's ultimate goal was happy customers. To prove this, he ultimately bought our Infiniti back at a fair price and provided a fair allowance for a 2008 Honda Accord on his lot. Roy was generally fair, kept the sales talk to a bare minimum and seemed to work for us. And when it came time to talk financing with the business office, the new Business Manager, I am happy to report, made us feel much more comfortable with the overall experience than the former had. As I stated from the beginning, I dread buying a "new" car. So, one could imagine, I especially dread buying a "new" car, having it die two months later and being forced to buy a second "new" car from the same dealership from which the now-dead "new" car was purchased. However, if it had to happen, I am glad it happened with Roy Reyes at Austin Subaru. And while I have no desire or near-term plans to return to a car dealership, when I do, it will be Austin Subaru. Moreover, I would suggest the dealership to friends and family alike, including my 65 year-old single mom! So, I came to Austin Subaru knowing EXACTLY what I wanted. I'd done my research, already had financing, and found the 2010 Prius I wanted online. From the time my husband and I first walked in to when we had keys in hand a few weeks later, everyone was very informative and friendly with none of those "sales" tactics you might come to expect. After our first test drive, we told our salesperson, Hadi, that we intended to try out some other vehicles at different dealerships before making a decision. He was very understanding and offered advice on what to look for, was up front about how they have a decent stock coming in so a car would be there or be coming in when we are ready to buy, and we were on our way. After deciding on a Subaru, we made an appointment with Hadi to come back in and could not be more pleased with the buying experience. I had to wait a couple of weeks for the color I wanted, and Hadi kept me informed and answered any questions or things I thought of along the way. Not only have they not repaired my car, but they actually further damaged it, lied about it, and discriminated against me. They told me that the problems I was experiencing with the car was because "well, you know, women don't know how to drive as well." This comment was the last straw, so I took it to Subaru of Georgetown, where they were able to find multiple things wrong with the car that Austin had refused to fix (it's still under warranty). read more

I wanted to share an experience I had with Austin Subaru that really impressed me. The reason was not the usual when things were smooth and I had no problems. My experience was different. My son was looking for his first car this August and saw a 2011 Ford that was listed by Austin Subaru. We went in on a Saturday and met up with our sales person Chris Winters. Chris was friendly and was both helpful but did not push "too hard". We took it for a test drive and walked away to look at some other dealers. My son decided later that day to come back and make the purchase. We called up Chris and he met us and answered some questions we had(the car did have 86K miles on it). He showed us a list of some work they had put into the car, again helpful but never pushed too hard. After the purchase, he took the time to make sure my teenage son understood how to hook his cell phone to the blue tooth and how to use all the basics of the dashboard and other functions. He didn't have to, but he did. He made my son feel respected as he was going to drive home solo in his first car. This was all important, because within 5 minutes of leaving Austin Subaru, a torrential rainstorm hit us as we were on Mopac. I was VERY THANKFUL, Chris had taken the time to show my son how to use the windshield wipers and had his phone hooked up on Bluetooth. Only a parent can know what I was feeling as I was thinking what could have happened. This was impressive, but what happened afterward was what I am writing this review about. We took the car to our mechanic to see what my son would need to start saving up for to possible repairs to his used car. At that moment, my mechanic discovered very significant engine problems that needed immediate attention. By this time Brent Baker, the General Manager of Austin Subaru, had emailed me to see my satisfaction rating for my purchase. I called him up and explained my concern over the extent of the engine problems. I won't forget his response, "We will do whatever needs to be done to make it right". I thought those were just hollow words, but I returned the car and worked with Chris Winters. They offered us a rental car and said they would keep us updated. Within a couple of days, they confirmed there was a very significant and costly engine problem to our car, but they would take care of it. AND THEY DID! No hassle and no "give and take". In little over a week, we got our car back with significant engine work and a warranty on that work. At no cost to us! As a businessman myself, I know life is not always perfect. Sometimes things start poorly. But to me integrity is what you do when you don't have to. As you know there are no lemon laws in Texas. I was worried as I was trying to make sure my son had a good value for his first car and that he would not get jaded in what was for him a purchase that represented hundred's of hours of his work that he has saved up. My teenage son got to see first hand what a company and it's employees do "to make it right". I cannot recommend Austin Subaru, Chris Winters, and Brent Baker enough as a group who has the integrity to back their word and the desire to make customer service not just hollow words, but tangible actions. Subaru makes a great car and the brand has grown tremendously but that is no excuse for the lack of professionalism exhibited by Austin Subaru. So, I've been to Austin Subaru twice for service. The first time was for the dreaded 60k mile service that costs an arm and a leg. I complained about a whining noise also and had a recall taken care of. This service went fine, but they couldn't find the whine. I had some warranty work done previously at the dealership called Gilman Subaru in South Austin and had horrible experiences and the broke more things than they fixed and had my car for a radio faceplate repair that I had an appt for for 7 days. Anyway, i just went to Austin Subaru because we had a CV boot crack and grease spewing everywhere. I made the appt the day before and dropped it off that evening. I mentioned the whining noise again as well. I authorized the work and they took care of it. I got a call that next day about noon saying the car was ready and they fixed both issues and changed my oil. I told Sal that Gilman couldn't find the whine and asked if they'd even noted it in the global system that I had them look at it and they hadn't. I said 'that figures'. So, I got the price from Sal and said I'd be there to pick it up. $381. On my way there Sal called me and said he talked to his manager about the whining noise and in a good faith gesture they would waive the cost of fixing the whining noise dropping the price by almost $80. This was without me even asking. Anyway. They've recruited a customer who generally shy's away from the dealerships for service. Bottom line, Great Service, on time and not as expensive as you would think. Thanks! read more

As a first time Subaru owner I'm really pleased with the decision I made 4 years ago to purchase my car from Austin Subaru. Since this was also the first car I purchased on my own, I take great care of my car. And so does Austin Subaru. The guys at the service department are great! Even though it's never as simple as an oil change with the scheduled maintenance, they don't try to sell you parts or work that isn't needed. Plus, they are actually cheaper than the mechanic I used to visit. I say all of these because they treat their customer's really well! I went in for an oil change last week, which included a tire rotation. I needed some additional work, but all was well. A few days letter I'm on the highway going about 70 mph and my steering wheel begins to shake. So, I take it back in for a tire balance. According to the Sevice Rep that's not something they automatically do unless requested. I appreciated that they didn't try to upsell. It only took about 45 minutes and my car was ready to go. Best part here was that they didn't charge me for the tire balance. That's what I call customer service! Thanks, Austin Subaru!!! read more

I know my review may sound biased, because my Aunt knows the Sales Manager at this dealership and I got a great deal on a car. But, I have to say this review to show how much I appreciate this dealership. First off, found a 2004 Honda at the dealership. It had barely been on the lot, and I snagged it. I was so excited. I don't have the best credit and Roy Reyes worked with the bank for my loan to finance the vehicle. I honestly didn't think it was possible, due to my credit (it's not the worst, but it's not the best, darn student loans!). So, with my down payment, I was able to get an affordable monthly payment with the deal he got me. Not only was I amazed and shocked, but completely overwhelmed with happiness. That's not even the best part. I had my car for 2 months and noticed the transmission was starting to slip. I understood it being an older car, but a Honda that had a complete Carfax report with no major problems, it worried me. Well, it started getting worse. So, I took it to the dealership. When I first got there, I was advised since it was a Honda; I had to take it to the Honda dealership. This mix up was fixed immediately. The great thing about it, the service people were really nice and professional about it, especially Amy. She is an amazing service advisor and made sure I was really taken care of. I didn't have a warranty, but because I had the car for only 2 months, Subaru worked out a deal to get it to Honda and gave me a loaner car. After a week, I finally got a call from Roy stating that the transmission needed to be replaced. Tears started forming in my eyes, and that's when Roy advised me that the price was $3,100.00. And that is when I almost lost it until Roy said they were going to take of the cost for me. I, the person with no warranty and the dealership was paying or my new transmission, of course that I could not afford, was getting this taken care of for me. When I got off the phone, I jumped for joy. Best experience ever. Of course, like I said previously, this seems biased. My aunt who is cool with the manager and the new transmission. But it was in between the issue that really mattered. Everyone was so awesome with their service and treated me like a person, and not just a number. I noticed it with the other customers as well. Now, I am referring everyone I know looking for a new car to this dealership. It's small, but big enough to be well known. It's a great place to purchase! read more

I had really good experience buying a new car here. My sales rep was attentive and had everything ready to go when I showed up. He showed me the car I was interested it (no something else that would have been just arround) . I did a lot of price comparison ahead of time so I was really happy when the offered me a great price out the gate. They also made financing really easy for me by allowing me to use a few forms of payment and paying for some items cash and rolling in others. I got a great rate from Subaru. They introduced me to a rep in the service dept and set up time for someone to go through the car in as much detail as I needed. They also have a really nice, pet friendly waiting room. They also sent someone to come pick me up when my car was ready so I didn't have to get someone to drive my old car home. I would recommend this dealer to anyone looking for a Subaru. read more

Service here is terrible. I scheduled an appointment online, where I made a notation that there was a part I knew they needed to order based on my previous service there. I then followed up with 2 phone calls, over 2 days, leaving a message each time for them to call me back so I could verify they got my note about the part. No returned call in 48 HOURS. Finally, I called back a 3rd time, and instead of leaving a message I called the operator and told her my issue. She found someone immediately to help me, who of course informed me, they had NOT looked at my message and therefore had not ordered the part. As a result my appointment had to be postponed another 5 days- not acceptable when the reason I had the appointment was to fix my car before a road trip I was making, which would start BEFORE they could get the part in. They overcharge you massively to boot. The only good thing about this place is that the staff are nice. But if you want a good conversation, I'd recommend your local coffee shop. I'll be looking for another place to take my car in the future. read more
