Fantastic burgers (the best in KC in my opinion); made even better with the burger bar where you can doctor up your burger with any fixings you desire. Austins is a relaxed atmosphere and is locally owned; the managers and owners are always around and make sure everyone is taken care of (rare in this time of chains and impersonal cust service). Wait staff is very outgoing, keep your drinks filled and are very attentive. Great place to go with a group to watch your fav sporting event or just hang out and have a beer. Nice diverse menu and everything I've had has been outstanding (again, the burgers are the highlight but the buffalo chix wrap, steak sandwich, hot wings and, suprisingly for a sports bar, mahi mahi, are also favs). read more

This is a great place for a quick beer and space to hang out. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but that might just be the kitchen. We usually go on Mondays when there's a half price special on burgers if you get a drink (soda, beer, anything but water.) It's almost always packed at lunch time and if there's a KU/KState/Mizzou game, be sure to get there at least an hour before gametime. Once the game starts, this place doesn't move much, everyone is fixated on the screens. That being said - this is a great place to watch sports events. There are televisions everywhere and you can always fine someone to talk about the game with and cheer with (or against.) Food is good, but we've had super slow kitchen service too many times to give five stars. read more

Man, we used to love going to Austins. The food was always really solid, drinks were cold and service was friendly. The last few times we've been there have been super disappointing. The food isn't great; they've changed the menu. The quality decreased while the prices increased. The drinks are still cold; but they don't know when to cut people off...I know it is a bar, but come on! Some of the regulars get so drunk, it becomes very "bar" and less "family" by 4 pm most afternoons. read more

Called in an order for curbside pick up, they said it would be ready in 30 min..... after waiting for over 25 min, which was an hour after original call! The food was cold, the bun was soggy , fries were ice cold! Very disappointed , we have been coming to Austen's for over 20 yrs!!! read more

This has been our top 2 go to restaurant during times of Covid. Although, we order few things, everything we've ordered is delicious. Our go to items are the World Famous chicken tenders, wings (Buffalo or Delgato), Big Kahuna Burger, and/or The Alamo (brownie and ice-cream). They never disappoint and are always delicious. I've been coming here for over 20 years. I have always loved their food and service, however during this pandemic County/state mandated mask regulations were NOT followed. Multiple employees that were off the clock were just wondering around without a mask, management was walking around with masks as well. Not to mention over 20 patrons just walked in and none were wearing masks. This is sad, but won't be returning until regulations are followed or we are no longer in a pandemic. read more

There food has been very inconsistent as of late. I ordered the buffalo won tons the first ones came out cold I thought no big deal I told the manager and she promptly got a new order put in. Then the second order comes out same thing hot on the outside but cold on the inside like they just flash cooked them in hot oil. So I told the manager and she took them off the check. And comped a few drinks for us. Great work on her part we left happy . But the food seems to be suffering a bit. read more

I'm a fan of Austin's because it is close to my house, the wait staff is efficient and I love the Grilled Chicken Nachos. I visit an average of 4 - 6 times a month - usually Friday and often during the week, right after work for Happy Hour. The half price appetizers from 4-6 are a deal I just can't pass up. It's also a fun place to see many friends - it's my version of Cheers. That said, I'm often disappointed that I am treated like a stranger every single time. I make a point to get there before the crowds do, knowing that I will have a large bunch with me (between 5-12) and the manager often has a hard time letting me hold space for that many people. In the 6 years we've been regulars there has only been 1 time where my whole crowd didn't show up and I let the staff know before there was a wait line at the door. I was particularly upset the time myself and a friend were not allowed to hold space for 12 at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon (it was empty)of a KU game, knowing my friends would be there before 4:30 only to find they were holding space for 50 in the back room with just a phone call and that group never showed up! The second manager came at 4:15 and let me have the space I wanted. I keep going back because it is convenient and I'm not a huge fan of the OP - but I am looking for a local place that wants my money, and treats me like a friend, not a stranger. read more

Austins is a nice place, would recommend for sure. I was served at the bar on Sep 13th by a bartender named Jason (if I remember correctly.) The service as great, very attentive and friendly. Good beer selection and prices too. Only thing I would change is that my fries were barely above room temperature and you have to go get your own ketchup from this condiment bar off near a server station. It would be okay but for the fact that if you are dining alone like I was, you don't wanna leave you stuff just sitting there while you search for ketchup. read more

My friends and I meet up here every month and I've gotta say, even when they are packed, they get to us very quickly. The staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. The only thing that blows is the parking, there is never any parking! Even when there is it's usually pretty far away. They need a bigger parking lot. read more

We called a day in advance to reserve seating for our 10+ group but when we arrived they didn't have us written down and had to scramble to find chairs for all of us. Once they finally had us settled service was much better! The food was pretty good, I had the Mahi Mahi tacos which were a little dry but buried in toppings! The beer was ice cold and really hit the spot! The decor is a little outdated with wood paneling but had a comfortable neighborhood bar feel to it. Overall I think the food is a little over priced and the drinks were way overpriced! read more

Austin's seems to be going through a midlife crisis. I enjoyed the good ole bar food, in a bar atmosphere at a reasonable price. Instead of going for the full on "face-lift" they added new plating & a pretentious-style menu with higher prices (the sandwich is still $10 but if you want the fries/side you have to pay extra). I'm sorry Austin's, but a little make-up doesn't cover up who you are on the inside. read more

I don't care where you're from the fries here are the best around the globe. I have travelled many places in my day and sampled so called french fries at burger establishments but Austin's has the fries to satisfy! The bbq brisket sandwich is the best entree on the menu and better than the sandwich I get at that Oklahoma, Kansas City Josephs what the heck it called. Be sure to check out the hunting arcade game in the back. You'll never beat my high score though, don't even try. read more

This place used to be a 5 star establishment. Then they decided to go "upscale". I didn't realize that meant that their service went out the window. They changed the recipe for their tortilla soup. (Translation = different vendor.) Its a downgrade. The 1/2 price burgers are great but waiting for food, waiting for refills, waiting to place an order. And all this on an afternoon when they were anything but busy. Looked like they were too busy playing grabass at the waitress station. read more

My whole extended family has been going to Austin's regularly for years, it's always been a good place to grab dinner at a fair price. We have always liked the burgers and chicken tenders and fries, but also the fact that the healthier eaters in the family have options like the herb grilled chicken or salmon. We have noticed the portions lately getting noticeably smaller, and though I know portion sizes are generally too big in restaurants, lately Austin's seems downright stingy. Along with this unwelcome change, the prices have increased and now fries are extra. Seriously, in a bar and grill, who is ordering a burger without fries? We are so disappointed, to have to find a new local dinner spot, but as I read in another review, the pseudo fancy trappings that Austin's has added, like the fries in the little silver cup? We had a waitress that needs another line of work. I had to flag her down after we had been sitting for fifteen minutes just to get a glass of water. Told her that there would be two more coming, when they showed up she walked right past us. I finally got another server's attention and she got a manager who took drink orders for the new couple and then our dinner order, said our server was kind of busy. He, the man in the red shirt, the hostess, and the waitress that got our boxes and presented the check were top notch, the really slim one with the tattoo on her right arm that was our original server, not so much. Might try it again unless I get stuck in her area. I know that everyone has an off day but she sure took care of the table of six guys that were seated next to us. read more

I have eaten at Austin's twice. Once with a big group and tonight with my family (2 adults, 3 kids). I have to say the I think the food is GREAT bar food. My husband had the Burger of burgers and raved about it. I had chicken strips and fries. They were good- the honey mustard was to die for. I had the same server both times and she was very attentive. I didn't like how when I asked the young man who delivered my food for ketchup, he directed me to a "condiment bar" at the back of the restaurant. I think with three kids, he could have brought us some ketchup. I thought it was a little weird. But here's my biggest problem with Austin's- you know that sunporch where all the smokers hang out? EVERY TIME the door opened, we could smell the cigar (nasty) and cigarette smoke. I didn't like that. Not at all. oh- and if you are going with any intention of having a conversation, forget about it. It's way too loud to talk. read more

The food is usually good, service is just ok. We were told that there was no wait when we called and we show up and plenty of tables were open and very few people there. They try to set us a a 4 chair high top with 5 people and a toddler... why? When there were 4 other low tops open. We were completely out of drinks, we ordered extra fries and they ended up on the wrong entree and they were soggy, our server was standing there and acknowledged the fries were on the wrong plate and said sorry about the Confusion, the wrong dipping sauces were brought and after the food was dropped off we didn't see our waitress until we were completely done and the plates were stacked as we were ready for the ticket. It was late and wasn't busy. They never brought out another basket of fries. A few weeks ago after our game the server dropped our food at the other end of the table ( where our friends were) but we never received it and we told them what happen after we didn't have our food and they didn't offer to comp or even bring out another entree. They just said sorry, I think the kitchen was closing but it wasn't our fault the food ended up in the wrong hands. We used to come here fairly often. read more

Update. Went to the Olathe location again today. Half priced burger on Mondays. It still cost Damn near 6 for the burger and frues. Another 2.50 for a drink. Overall bill was 9 bucks before tip. Below average burger. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful though. So I give the waitstaff 4 stars. Food 2 stars and prices/value 1 star. Overall. Just 2 stars. read more

I've been here twice, once on a weeknight and the other on a weekend. I must say that I enjoyed the weeknight much better. Once the place gets busy the service begins to suffer and becomes kind of a clusterf*ck in there. Prices are average but the burger I had there was very good. I'm not out in Olathe much but when I am I usually end up at Austins one way or another. read more

I've been here multiple times and they have consistent. Much better than your average bar food, very good service and always a great, and cold beer selection. Too bad some people who bring their kids and let them run around unsupervised don't respect the other patrons. If I wanted to listen to kids running around I'd go to Mickey D's. read more

I really enjoy this place! Go here for lunch on average 3 times a week!! (its close to the office) The people that work there are great! Lisa is a great bartender and you will find her there weekdays. Robin is our fav server, but the other girls are great too!! On to the food... it is pretty good! The Mahi sandwhich is yummy, as is the Alaskan Joe (if you go in and ask for a salmon BLT, they will know that you have talked to me lol). Steer clear of the dips (spin dip and the queso dip). They just are not good. And I know for a fact that they keep the spin dip for up to 5 days after they make it (the manager told me when I asked how old it was cuz it tasted like fish) Fingers and fries always a hit. great daily lunch specials. Lots of flat screen TV's all over the place along with a room in the back that has Silver Strike, Golden Tee, a driving game, a shooting game and a punching bag game.
