Pretty taken aback by the rudeness I experienced this morning when I called. I have a Ford E250 Econoline van that has a check engine light that won't turn off. My mechanic, Jim Discount Tires on Monument Boulevard, specifically referred me to Peter at Auto Risen because he told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the engine or the codes that the diagnostic was giving, and that it was a computer issue, which is common for Fords. I tried to explain that on the phone to Peter this morning and told him my mechanic said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and he rudely responded with "we'll take it back to him and tell him to figure it out". Tell me you don't want my business without telling me you don't want my business... Jesus H Christ... I've already called another shop, Auto Electric and Fuel, and they were extremely pleasant and helpful on the phone and I was able to get an appointment with them right away. My car had radiator issues and I took it to this shop. After a few weeks, it started to leak, I took it back, and much to my surprise this guy Peter charged me again!! I tell you there is no accountability here and he does not take responsibility as if it was my fault. They don't guarantee the work they perform on the car. They use cheap labor and parts and sometimes they charge you more for the parts. If you go there, check the part invoice after the repair is done and ask for a written warranty on the repairs performed. They can easily rip you off without you noticing it. They rarely test drive the car afterward. Don't be surprised if you get stranded in the middle of the road a few days later and after you drive away. Your safety and peace of mind are more important than a few bucks saved! I don't recommend this shop. read more

I came to Peter at Auto Risen on a friends recommendation. I have never regretted it. I had a BMW and I use to drive up to the shop for every thing my car needed. Peter was always friendly and accommodating. Jump forward 10 years I now have a Mercedes and a husband. Our car needed maintenance and the dealership wanted $1800, Peter did the same thing for $600. I know going to the dealership has it's advantages i.e. a loaner, washing your car afterwards and a cozy waiting room in case one wants to wait for their car. We didn't mind giving those things up to have Peter work on our car. We live in Oakland and I would drive to Concord anytime for someone I can trust. read more

The shop owner is great! I am a girl, so I looked up the issues with my brakes and called shops around the area to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off. This was the last call I was going to make and the price was right, so I decided to go with Auto Risen. Now, the location is somewhat shabby, but the price and the service more than make up for it. The shop owner made sure to explain to me what he was charging me for and told that if I brought in my own parts, I would have inferior price for a minimum savings. He even offered to give me the same quality parts for the same price as the parts that I bought if I wanted to save some dough. I am very short on money nowadays, but I know that I need my brakes to work and to work WELL. When I picked up my car, he walked into the office with my old rotor and explained why I needed the rotors (German car) replaced. When I called other shops, they explained this to me as well, but it was very nice that he wanted to show that he wasn't BSing me. read more
