So grateful I found this place thanks to Yelpers. In a year and a half, they have worked on 4 different import vehicles of ours - a classic & a fairly new BMW, a classic Mercedes, & an Acura. So my report is from many visits, quite varied issues, & varied ages of vehicles. Every time they are very straightforward about what is wrong, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. They are no fluff, very honest and realistic. Waiting room is comfortable, free Wi-Fi, beverages and a few snacks, clean attractive restroom - rare in an independent auto shop. There's NO bait & switch or upsell. Recently we had a headlight problem, they thought they fixed it. By the time I got home it was not working again. Howard apologized but without arse-kiss (awesome, not necessary), credited us with the unnecessary new light bulb and labor, then fixed the deeper issue when I had time to get the car back to them. I appreciate the easy key drop after hours, so much better then fighting traffic to get there before they close so they can start in the early a.m. CALL for an appointment, they are great at assessing when they can get to work on your vehicle. read more

This is a GEM!! I have a Volkswagon that broke down at my parents house in east Plano. I called a few places in east Plano and all the mechanics told me the same thing...Take the car to Autobahn, they're the best. I couldn't believe that I had 4 different mechanics TURN AWAY my business to recommend Autobahn for my German trouble maker. I called Autobahn and was greeted by Howard whom, I got to know pretty well after a few phone calls (when I called he'd answer, "Well hello Marissa" Yes I know he has caller ID but I think it was really nice) Howard had my car towed by Big Bass tow who had the BEST TOW PRICES EVER!! Plus the guys from Big Bass has the nicest tow trucks and seemed the most knowledgeable of all the tow truck drivers Ive ever met...and Ive met ALOT. Autobahn didn't charge me for the diagnostics which was a HUGE savings because the dealership charges 115.00 JUST to look at the thing. I wish I had met Howard years ago. He was great. He taught me all about my car and never made me feel stupid, uncomfortable or scared about receiving a HUGE bill. Of all the German mechanics Ive worked with Howard's shop is the BEST. Since my visit at Autobahn I decided to sell my car and really had no idea how to do it or what it was worth. I have got my BMW serviced at this place for last 10 years. They do a great job every single time and most important do it right first time. Front desk staff is very good in communication during start to finish. Mechanics are equally knowledgeable in explaining diagnostics and doing necessary fix right the first time. Brought my hubby's car here a couple months ago and forgot to review, but these guys deserve these 5 stars! Called and spoke to Howard about my husband's car. Making a noise, sounded like a belt (plus the car was acting kinda funny) + needed an oil change. Brought the car in and they offered to drive me home since otherwise I would be stuck for a half day. They called a couple hours later with some bad news that we had an oil leak - it wasn't super bad, but it's something we should have addressed sooner rather than later. They offered the options to fix it and gave us a time frame to watch it if we couldn't do it immediately. Since it was in the shop, we just got everything fixed. On top of that, my husband needed new tires and since Howard didn't have any in stock to fit my husband's car he recommended we call a buddy of his at a tire shop who would take care of us. That's awesome customer service. When all was said and done, we had a reasonable bill, excellent customer service and the car has been perfect ever since (going on ~4 months now) so I will definitely be bringing the car back. Plus, one of the guys at Autobahn complimented my husband on his car (it's in immaculate condition even though it's 5 years old and has a great color combo), which I think is the equivalent of us women saying someone likes our outfit, so that was major points in his book :) Honest service and reasonable pricing. Just moved to town and hadn't found a shop yet, but after yesterday's visit to Autobahn I can't imagine why I'd go anywhere else. I called last minute after work and Howard offered to take a look at my '06 325 but was clear that, because of how late it was, they might be able to fix it that night. Turns out they had everything they needed there! Really appreciated the straight forward run down about what was wrong and the price to fix was more than fair. Just sitting in the waiting room you get a sense of the place as Howard and Jeff greet customers by name and I've never seen so many smiling customers in an auto shop. They are always on their promised schedule and I never had to take my car back there because of the service quality. Went in to get my ac checked and they charged me for refilling the gas of ac without even asking me If I want it to be refilled. This is a great auto repair shop. The tailing light of my car didn't work, so I went there to get it repaired. The workers there are so nice and said if it's the problem of the bulb, and if it's a small bulb, I will not charge you. He checked my car and returned my key to me after several minutes, said all is done. Without any charge! I will definitely go there again when my car has problem next time. The one star is for the scratches their complimentary car wash has left on my car after they replaced my battery. When I took my car to Toyota of Dallas for an oil change three weeks ago they told me my battery was dying but needn't replacement at that time so we waited. After searching around I found this on yelp and everyone says they are honest and great. They are fast and professional in replacing the battery, then one of the front desk guys asked if I wanted a car wash and I said sure if it's complimentary (I should have declined). I got my car back in about 50 minutes, very fast indeed but when I noticed the scratches left on the trunk hood I was not happy. I went back and asked the other guy at the front desk about it but all he said was they had nothing to do with them, all they did was wipe it with a towel. He didn't even come out and look at them, just said the car wash revealed the old scratches. I had a car wash at the Toyota dealership back then and there weren't scratches. I understand they were busy and so was I. I was actually in a hurry and also with my baby, otherwise I would have stayed and talked to them. read more

We were looking for another place to have our cars serviced, because our dealership experiences were becoming more frequently problematic. We'd heard good things about the people at Autobahn, so we gave them a try. We've had them do routine maintenance on two different cars, as well as a lot of repairs on one of the two. Everything was repaired correctly and quickly. My car was returned clean. Best of all, the cost was about 35 percent or more cheaper than the dealership. My only wishes would be that the had loaner cars or easy rental access, but they'll drive you anywhere and I don't know of any independent shops that offer loaners. I took my car in after a brake repair, turns out the guy (not Autobahn) that repaired them, didnt complete the job and I had brake fluid leaking... VERY dangerous. As soon as I arrived they gave me 100% of their attention and immediately told me the issue and quoted me on the spot. Can't recommend Autobahn of Plano enough!!! I have been going to Autobahn for 2 years now and every time I have brought my car in there they have gone above and beyond what I expected. I used to bring my Mercedes to the official mercedes dealership service center in Dallas for many years. That was a mistake. As my Mercedes is getting older, my official mercedes dealership seemed more interested in selling me a new Mercedes instead of maintaining my current Mercedes. The last two times my car had problems AFTER I brought it in for maintenance. I should have brought it to the Autobahn Service Center instead. They are competent, friendly, cheaper than the official mercedes dealership, detailed my car (inside & outside), and I don't have to worry about hidden agendas. This is by far the best service I have ever had with car maintenance/repairs. I initially took my BMW there for an oil change, and now I use them for all my repairs. They are friendly, fast, and fair. I appreciate their estimates that include explanations as well as recommendations for what needs to be done now and what can wait. They also handle everything with my warranty. I just had repairs done today- called them at 7:30 am, took the car in at 8:30 am, and it was done by 1:00 pm. When I picked the car up, it had been beautifully washed (including interior vacuuming and dressing on the tires).I drove away proud of my car that runs and looks great again. What a great experience I had this week going to AutoBahn for the first time. I have a high end Mercedes that has been giving me problems and I wasn't satisfied with current foreign car auto mechanic. So when I started having the same problems come back with my car I knew I needed to find a new auto repair shop. I started reading all the auto repair reviews on Yelp. After my research, I decided to go give Autobahn a try and I'm very happy I did. Similar to the other reviews, Howard answered the phone when I called the shop and he was great to work with and listened to my issues. I found him to be a straight talking customer services oriented shop owner. So I scheduled my visit and as promised I had a ride to work ready when I arrived that morning. An auto mechanic shop providing a shuttle to work is a very nice benefit that you don't get at a lot of shops. And I appreciated not having the stress of trying to figure out drop off and pick up (like my previous mechanic). Howard fixed the problem I had been having issues over the past two months and several trips to my previous auto mechanic. When I picked up my car it was sitting there and freshly washed looking like a new car (and it's 7 years old). It really feels great to have found an excellent foreign car auto mechanic. Now I have a place to take my BMW and Mercedes. As we all know, finding a good auto repair shop (for a foreign cars) isn't easy. Thank you, Howard. read more

Service manager Jeff Kolter provides exceptional customer service and the mechanics are some of the best in the area, especially Milo who treats my truck like his own. I have a 14-year-old truck with 240K+ miles and they keep it running like it's new. In the past when I've gone to other places to have my cars serviced, I've been skeptical when I've been told how many things were wrong and how expensive it would be to fix. MAYBE More Like a 3.5 Star Rating place. I struggle in deciding how I should rate this place. Time to break away from over-priced local Land Rover dealership to service our 2010 Land Rover LR2. However, I felt a bit awkward at this business. It seems like I must accept the complete BLIND TRUST of this business to take care of our car WITHOUT the need to explained what is the detailed status of our car except that your car is ready and good to go. Maybe I feel more at ease at a place where I am use to a service center inspecting different parts of our car while recommended fluid and parts replacement are done base on Land Rover's guidelines and then disclosing in details the status of our car, including what may need to be change, lubricated, or fixed and how soon. For example, at our 45,5 to 50K interval service maintenance, the status of the Land Rover brake system was not explained to us in details except it is good. Other service centers usually explain how much brake pads left, the condition of the rotor/disc, and what parts of the braking system passed inspection, including parking brake, brake wheel cylinder, brake lines & hoses, and etc. Also, what should I watch out for until the next service interval maintenance. Maybe I am too detail oriented and believe trust needs to be earned. Therefore, I think Autobahn Service Center is a good business, and they practice traditional professionalism versus modern customer service oriented professionalism. read more

Don't let the number of luxury cars in for service scare you. In addition to Mercedes and Lexus, they work on regular people's cars and do expert repairs at a reasonable price. I had some work done on my Camry a few years ago. They accurately troubleshot an emissions system problem and fixed it right the first time. Still works well after 5 years. Who keeps a car for 5 years in Plano, Texas? I do. Recommended Autohaus to my son, who brought his car in. Their suggested service came at a reasonable price. read more

How do you know an auto shop wants your business? On small things you don't charge (like our tire patch), you admit your mistakes (on another occasion they corrected a problem on their own dime - something that you'd typically have to dispute others on, based on our experience), you clean and wash the car after every significant job (only a full detail job would be better), and they treat you right (how about a bottle of wine at Christmas - from one of the WORKERS who had extra!! - entirely coincidental, but shows Everyone there is happy you give them business). For a shop whose name suggests they specialize in high-end cars, they handle all vehicles competently and their rates for work are not at a premium as you might expect or assume from the name. Our Recommendation - Do Not Go To Autobahn! You'll be too happy, you'll tell your friends and neighbors and so on...Autobahn will become so popular we won't be able to get our vehicles in. So, Please, Please... leave them as the best kept automotive service center secret in Plano, if not DFW. ;) read more

I was a long way from home, traveling on business, when my vehicle suddenly started shaking violently and check engine light was flashing. I pulled off the highway and found Autobahn Service Center, explained my situation. I had to attend an important business meeting and needed help ASAP. They were very busy, and of course I had no appointment. To their great crediT, not only did they come out immediately and diagnose my car, they committed to getting it fixed the next morning, which they promptly did. I am happy to report that the repairs were perfect, the price was reasonable, the service was outstanding and the employees were top-notch. You cannot do better than this place for your car repairs! I can't say enough good things about this place! I was given Autobahn's name by a client of mine that had nothing but great things to say about this service center. Jeff and his staff are such great people and I felt that they were very honest and trustworthy. My BMW was in a bad way and the dealership quoted me close to $7500, while Jeff was going to do the same work for just over $3000. I then took my Ford F150 in to get it ready to go to college and they did excellent work in such a quick turn around and then took time to show us the broken old parts that they replaced. Last, I took my Dodge Charger in to have them look at a concerning issue. Jeff saw that the alternator was bad and their was a recall on it. He had a tow pick it up and take it to the dealership to have the 4 recalls done. What auto service center does that?!!! Thanks Jeff and your team for taking care of us!
