I took my car here for a few years and now that I have moved out of the area I really miss this place. It's been difficult for me to find a good and honest mechanic in my area and I appreciate the great service I experienced here for many years. I took my Hyundai here for general maintenance and service. Peter was always thorough in checking the car and the work was always done quickly and relatively inexpensive. I almost always got my car back the same day. He always quoted everything in a very detailed manner so I knew the costs going in and there were no surprises when the bill came. Peter would so is the parts he replaced and explained the issues to us in a way that are understandable to a person who doesn't know a lot about cars. While the prices are lower than what you will find around, you get what you paid for. I spent over $2000 diagnosing and repairing my car there, and in the end the problem still remained. I was told these "older cars have many problems and are hard to diagnose." Well, if I have a new car, I can hook up my laptop tool and diagnose it myself, I went to a shop for a reason. After this money hit and my problem wasn't solved, I went to Mercedes-Benz dealership in WC and they found the problem in 2 hours. Not only this, but I realized that some of the recommended repairs were unnecessary. Also a part they changed in the shop was found faulty by the dealer. Prior to this I have been there for 2 other cars, and they, too were "too old" (90's cars) and the shop couldn't give a proper advice or fix. Peter is not a bad guy personally, but the lack of knowledge for older models can cost you big if going there. Any mechanic can fix a new car with a computer diagnostic. The point is to be able to locate a problem based on knowledge and experience. Remember, you ALWAYS get what you pay for. $180 at the dealer or $80 at my bad boys, the choice is yours. read more

On 2/25/2013 I received a call from an unknown number. It was the owner of the shop, who wanted to talk to me about my Yelp rating. He went on and on about me giving him a "bad" rating. I told him that my rating was an "ok" rating- actually not bad at all. He then went on about the inaccuracy of the amount of the estimate he gave me. My yelp review focused on the livingsocial coupon that was not honored in its totality. When I told him that, he only said that he had no control over the living social coupon situation. Usually when you contacted for this kind of situation, they tried to make things right, or improve the experience, he sure came accross as trying to impossed his will for me to change my Yelp rating. This is not the kind of costumer service anyone deserves, next time he calls, I will have to file a complaint with the Better Business bureau. read more

What a great find! I needed a mechanic shop so I turned to my trusty friend Yelp. At first I was skeptical. All of the reviews for My Bad Boys were 5 stars and raving about some guy named Peter. I began to think Peter had created multiple Yelp accounts and was writing amazing reviews about himself...hey, crazier things have happened! Well, I called all around and found that labor rates are insane. I called Peter and his rate is $80/hour, nearly half the price of most. So I decided, what the heck, I'll try it. I called him and said my baby needed some work. (My adorable green Beetle that is. I drove to Concord and got lost trying to find his shop that is tucked behind another shop in a real sketchy neighborhood. I pulled up and he said "So this is your sick baby?" lol It was closing time and my mom was on her way to get me. But Peter didn't want me to stay alone because he agreed, it isn't the best neighborhood. So he began checking out my car and we waited for my ride. A day later he e-mailed me an estimate and called to make sure I got it. I was so amazed by his customer service. His quote was a detailed Excel spreadsheet that listed each job, and underneath were the parts needed, their prices, the length of time and price for labor. Not only was it so organized, but he didn't charge labor for most of the jobs. He really was giving me the best price. My car was done in a few days and she runs so much better. I am very impressed by My Bad Boys, so much so that when it was time to pick my car up my mom dropped on her Z28 Camaro to get some work done. So beleve it or not, My Bad Boys really is a great auto shop with an honest and organized mechanic. And no, Peter is not writing this. I am really Amanda, a once skeptical but now big fan of Peter. Like many of you will probably do -- I went to Peter because of the reviews seen here. I knew my car needed some tune up and maintenance but had been dreading bringing it to the Honda dealership because I always felt like they were trying to sell me things I didn't need. At the very least, I knew they were charging premium dollars, which might be worth it for a brand new car, but my trusty old 2000 Honda Civic doesn't need that much pampering, lol, just someone to make sure she's running healthy. I brought it to Peter and just so you know -- his shop is BEHIND ANOTHER SHOP, also with the address "1115 Landini Lane" (Peter's shop is technically 1115 Landini, UNIT D). So don't get confused there. I left my car in his capable hands and he literally worked on it all day, checking everything, giving me his estimate (much lower than I would have paid at the dealership), then making all the repairs. When I got there to pick it up at the end of the day, he was even adjusting my front license plate because it was crooked (which I had known about but never even cared enough myself to fix)! He explained what he did, showed me all the worn out parts he replaced and then I settled my tab. One thing I noticed is that his shop and his business office are very clean and organized -- might not be a big thing for you, but it means something to me. Peter is super nice and also easy on the eyes (for any of you ladies out there). You can tell he is very proud of his little shop and invests 100% in the work he does for you. It might have taken a little longer than the dealership -- but what would you rather have: an expensive, rushed meal at a snotty high-end restaurant or an amazing dinner at a fantastic hole-in-wall where they treat you right and the food tastes better than your mom's homemade? My Bad Boys is that great little find that is so good you almost want to keep as a secret for yourself. I will definitely be trusting my car to him from now on. read more

I am very skeptical when it comes to car repair places, mostly because I'm a woman and I know nothing about cars. Other shops consistently attempt to upsell me, or inflate the price. Peter did nothing even close. I took my 2003 Civic to a mechanic who shall remain nameless because the check engine light was on. They did the repair for just about $400, $125 of that being the price for the diagnostic. On my way out the door, the repairman mentioned it was time to get my clutch replaced and handed me an estimate for repair. I looked at it, and said "whoa", the employee responded "its a lot, I know." Shortly after I left, I went home and hopped on Yelp to find an alternate repair shop. Then I stumbled on Peter . He was able to give me an estimate over the phone for the repair since he had just completed one for someone else. It was HALF the cost of the other place. The next day, I dropped my car off. Peter later called with some other repairs that needed to be completed. He sent me an invoice via e-mail and listed what was most important to be repaired right away and what could wait. He said "there is no pressure to do any of these repairs today, but the ones marked are important to do soon." I let him know which to complete, and which we would wait on. He proceeded without any argument or up-sale. When I went to pick up my car, he showed me the old parts which were definitely worn, and charged me exactly what he quoted, except for the 10% discount he added. He will not only go above and beyond for me but also lets me know what's most important to least important in order to maintain my car! It's not often (actually never) that I rate a business 5 stars but Peter absolutely earned it! I was due for an oil change so I took advantage of a Living Social special to check this place out - and I'm so thrilled that I did. I've been going to the C@nc*$d Honda dealership (where we purchased two cars) and was pretty unhappy with the prices and frankly the service I've received there. I grew up around cars so I have a pretty good idea of what's important and what's fluff, and it seems like every time I went to the dealership, they found something dire and catastrophic...as in "Oh you absolutely need to fix this today." Maybe it's b/c I'm a woman, but frankly I'm tired of that treatment. So you can imagine my delight when Peter spoke to me as an equal and went above and beyond in every way. Service was quick, professional, and warm. I was really impressed with Peter & his mechanic, and already plan to get all my auto work done here. I purchased the $65 for $100 deal on Yelp. Peter is a very nice guy and very professional. I called and requested a quote for a coolant flush and a full service tranny flush. Usually when I call a shop for quotes I always get the same answer..."I can't give you a quote on the phone...bring in the car and we will go from there". He actually stayed on the phone with me for about ten minutes and calculated out quotes to the cent on what I would be paying. Because it seemed like I was creating more work for him by doing this (it took him a while to come up with the cost over the phone) I apologized for being an inconvenience. He then said that it was not a problem and that he wants to make "the customer happy". I was surprised at how customer-oriented he was. You do not get that very often nowadays. I scheduled an appointment here this past Saturday for a tune up after seeing the reviews for this place on Yelp, due to my car riding a little ruff. Me and my fiance had no idea what was wrong with it so we decided to start with a tune up. Peter the owner of the shop started the car and right away knew what was wrong. After checking under the hood he could see that I needed a new water pump. I was amazed he had seen that right away. I went ahead and got the tune up, new water pump and a new serpentine belt. Peter and his guys couldn't have impressed me more. If you need auto work on a euro car done in concord, pleasant hill, or any of the surrounding areas, this is where I would go. As I've stated on other recent reviews, my fiancé and I recently moved to pleasant hill from the other side of the bay. Like most people that relocate, we turn to yelp reviews as our primary way to find new restaurants, shops, and in this case auto repair places. We needed some work done on my fiancé's car to get it to clear smog. We had a time crunch to get the work done, so the combination of My Bad Boys reviews and the fact that they are open Saturdays led us to try them. Peter and Michael were quick to greet me and very friendly. They immediately looked at my car, and diagnosed two problems within about 30-40 minutes. After telling me what the problems were, Peter went over each, showing me the issue at hand and thoroughly explaining why it is a problem and how the parts were supposed to be operating. He took a lot of time explaining everything and never made me feel rushed. All of that was great, but what really impressed me was the call I got on the following Monday from Peter. He called me to tell me the parts had come in, but one of the boxes was busted up and the part looked suspect. Some people might be mad that the job was going to take extra time, but I was very thankful that Peter had the integrity to refuse a part that he didn't think looked 100%. Lesser shops/mechanics would have installed it and never have said a word. In the end, the job took a day longer than the quote, but he didn't change any extra labor or holding fees, and as a courtesy, rotated the tires and performed a secondary diagnostic outlining future potential problems and the order he suggested we address them, as well as the severity of each. It was very impressive, and it showed me that they really cared about earning my business. Without a doubt, this is my new auto shop. Peter took amazing care if me and my fiancé's car. read more

If my doctor was as thorough and diagnostic as Peter, I would be running marathons and winning beauty contests! Peter is determined to get my car in tip top running shape. He told me that my car needed front brakes, so I booked an appointment late in the week. He agreed to take the car in but when it looked like the car needed something else, he agreed to work on Sunday to make sure my daughter had the car for Monday. He insisted on giving me a loaner car and made sure I had a ride home. When I picked up the car, he showed me what wasn't working on my car and what would make it better. When we were finished, he noticed that my windshield wipers weren't working and he insisted on fixing them, though it was late in the day and on a Sunday! Awesome spot! Peter is a great guy. Left a vm for him Saturday to try and get schedule a service. He called me Monday and we talked briefly about my 100k service for my Audi. I actually showed up early at his shop for my appointment. Briefly looked around and his shop from the outside and it looks fairly secure if a car ever needs to be left overnight. Great looking watch dog too! Anyway I explained to him my issues w my car and he knew I was modified but it didnt balk him. He said he'll investigate and let me know what he finds. I get a call a few hours later and he walks me through what needs to be fixed and issues and what I should look out for. Bottom line, he knows his shhhtuff! He told me I should look at the quote first before clearing all the other maintenance. He did a quick oil change, replaced my exhaust gasket (no charge), and tightened a few things and told me car will be ready in a few hours. Went to pick up my car and he was very pleasant. Had my car on lift still so he can walk me trough my issues and show me where they were. Bottom line and repeating! Awesome guy and service. Estimate for all items to be fixed was pretty much what I expected. He topped off some of my fluids (no charge) and we shot the breeze for a bit. Buddy who drove me there had a question about his audi about a supposed exhaust leak. Mind u Peter was the only one left around this time and he had a vendor over and who I assumed was a friend waiting on him. Anyway, he asks my buddy to rev up his engine to investigate and then eventually put his car up on the lift and tightens a few bolts (no charge). Can't say enough about the man. I came here recently after reading the other positive reviews and I must say this business is terrific. The owner (peter) is very nice and completely honest. I had no problems at all. Very fair prices and great service. Id recommend this place to everyone. I had to get a used transmission put in due to damages to my old one, along with an engine mount. Peter offered to also install a new clutch for me labor free since the clutch and transmission are so close together. Since my car was nearing 100k miles I had him install it. Not only does my car run great, but I saved big time going through my bad boys. After my car was repaired peter seemed excited to show me that he had also detailed my engine and he added extra oil to the car charge free. This man loves what he does and having a Passion for the automotive repair industry, he likes to help others out rather than screw them out of their money. Peter, thank you for your apology. However, it is unfortunate that you attempt to distract from the problems caused by your poor workmanship by inferring that customer supplied parts are responsible. Not only were any parts provided by me high quality, mostly OEM or manufacturer approved or made by the OEM supplier, you could have at any time refused to use them. Furthermore, it is clear in my original review that the problems I have experienced are all workmanship related. Parts have nothing to do with any of them. Secondly, it seems you are trying to give the impression that you, working in the office, were not personally informed of my issues and that I dealt with your "many" technicians on follow up visits. Nothing could be further from the truth. I dealt with you 100% of the time whether via email or in person and I've only ever seen 1 other technician working with you in your small shop. So that we can clarify that the issues are to do with your workmanship and that I gave you the opportunity to rectify the problems you caused, I will expand on 3 of the instances that I mentioned in my original review. Please let me know if you need further details about the other problems not listed here and I will add an updated review. Coolant Flush improperly performed After your highly trained service technician refilled coolant without diluting it, I visited a second time to have another flush performed to correct the concentration. Surprisingly, you did not have / use a hydrometer or test strips to verify the coolant concentration. Without such standard equipment, you were unable to accurately verify that the coolant concentration was now in the acceptable range. Since you failed to perform the work correctly on the 2nd visit ie you didn't test for coolant concentration even after I specifically asked you, I consequently purchased manufacturer approved test strips and adjusted the coolant concentration back down to 50:50 myself. Transmission Overfilled After you performed a transmission fluid exchange, I began to see transmission fluid on my garage floor. I brought this to your attention and made a 2nd visit. You inspected the transmission fluid level and said it was ok. You then inspected the transmission pan and claimed that the transmission gasket was leaking and should be changed. I did not believe your diagnosis because the "leak" was not constant. I elected to wait to see what happened. Some time passed during which the "leaking" stopped but then reappeared. I did some research and discovered that an overfilled transmission can build up excess pressure, causing the fluid to eject through the dipstick tube. Sure enough, the transmission dipstick was unseated and transmission fluid had pooled in an area directly below it. Additionally, the dipstick was reading above maximum contrary to what you had told me. Since all that was left was to remove some transmission fluid and you had failed to get this right on two occassions, I did this myself rather than visit you for a third time. There has been no problem since. However, since overfilling can damage a transmission, I had the fluid analyzed and the results unfortunately show excessive wear which potentially means a shortened life. Overcharging for Coolant on another vehicle I check fluid levels and other aspects of my vehicles regularly, so prior to an oil change on my other vehicle, I knew that all fluids were at or near maximum and required no top up. However, when I received your invoice, you decided to charge for 1/3 gallon of coolant. Since this coolant needs to be mixed 50:50 with water, you were therefore claiming that my cooling system was down by 2/3 gallon. The cooling system capacity on that vehicle is just under 2.5 gallons. Having to add 2/3 gallon is a BIG deal. Therefore one of three things must be true: 1) You topped up the system with 2/3 gallon of 50:50 coolant. In which case, I am blind to have not seen a completely empty overflow tank and the car should have overheated a long time ago. There would have had to have been a serious leak in the cooling system which you would have noted on the invoice and I should have had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealer to have it looked at under warranty. 2) You topped up the system with 1/3 gallon of straight coolant, in which case much of the above is still true but you've additionally made it worse by adding a large amount of straight coolant which is against all procedures including the MAP which you are a member of. 3) The most likely scenario: you've charged me for 1/3 gallon of OEM coolant but actually added little or none. As with the other issues, I brought this issue to your attention via email. However, on this point, you elected to not respond to me. Whereas the other 2 issues were maintenance mistakes, this issue was one of overcharging which is unfortunately standard practice in your line of work. read more

A month ago, I had an urgent need for a car repair, but because I didn't have a regular mechanic and I find dealer repairs very expensive, I checked Yelp for repair shops in my neighborhood. I called almost all the auto repair shops listed. A few don't do Mercedes repair, some needed appointment, others were too expensive. Then I called My Bad Boys Auto Repair Shop and they gave me an appointment a few hours later! Took my car there, spoke to Peter - he checked my car for free, then he came out with a reasonable qoute and explained to me why those repairs were needed. He also drove me home and brought my car back when it was done! Best service ever! My family has since found a reliable and reasonable car repair shop! I'm very happy I found My Bad Boys! Brought my 94 Acura Legend over to the Bad Boys to have the heater core replaced as they quoted about half of what the dealer wanted. They did the job - all is well, and they even ended up making the light for the ABS system go out as part of the process, something the dealer told me would cost me over $2500 to have replaced and it ended up not costing me a nickel. They also changed the oil, checked the fluids and did a complete inspection. They found a minor issue with the suspension. Peter jacked the car up on both sides and showed me the amount of play on each of the front wheels, then took me over to his computer and showed me pictures of the worn parts and exactly what needed to be done to fix the problem. The repair is not urgent, yet something I'll plan for in the near future. Super competent and courteous people. They even dropped me off at the BART station and picked me up at BART when I returned from Oakland to pick up the car. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. read more

So far, we have been satisfied with the work we had done here for our car. We used to go to a trusted auto shop mechanic in San Francisco and wanted to try out other shops in this area. We brought our car here three times now. At first, we wanted to make sure we weren't overcharged as is unfortunately the practice of some shops. We also steer away from shops that charge you an arm and a leg just to diagnose and then tack that fee onto the final bill. Overall, the work done on our car has been satisfactory. I would suggest that Peter consider a way of rewarding repeat customers so they have an incentive to return. Building trust in mechanics can be challenging but once that trust is there, repeat customers, like us, will not be hard to come by. read more

My daughter found this shop on Yelp and took her VW bug in for some work. Peter is very friendly and honest. I decided to take my 2002 Camaro Z28 in for some work when I picked up my daughter's car. Peter sent me an estimate on e-mail for my review. He kept me informed of the progress of the repairs. The Camaro was leaking oil really badly. It required major work and while the transmission was out the clutch had to be replaced and Peter didn't charge me additional labor for the installation of the new clutch. The hourly labor rate is a great deal. Peter took the time to show me the broken parts and explain the work he had done. I will definately be going back to this great shop again. read more

worst place you could ever go to. Messed my car up and instead of admitting it he told me to get out of his shop. So to start with someone wanted to have the car I was selling inspected. When I drove it in there was no check engine light and no misfire. For some reason when he is only suppose to do an inspection he removed only one spark plug which doesn't make too much sense. But he removed it with an electric impact gun and installed it with one. Then when he test drove it for an inspection he came back and said the check engine light was on and it had a misfire. I told him it didn't before and he tried saying it didn't at first but then out of the blue it did. I am a tech so therefore I told him he cracked the spark plug so I made him remove it which he did it with an impact gun again after I told him your not suppose to and that is what cracked it. Then once it was out you could wiggle the porcelain back and forth. He told me it was a bad plug and he didn't do it. I told him he cracked it. Is all I wanted was for him to put a new one in which was probably $10 which he charged $100 for the inspection. He told me no. Then he installed a used one and told me he fixed it. Which the used one wasn't even for my engine. Then he hid the old plug from me and when I asked for it back he told me no my car is fixed. I said by law you have to and he told me no but finally pulled it out of his pocket. Then driving the car later on that night with my wife and 2 yr old son the car overheated which it never did before. Come to find out he tried to check the coolant with it how so therefore the pressure spit coolant out. But he didn't wait for the car to cool down and top it off even with water so therefore it overheated. He didn't write that there was any coolant leaks on my inspection paper and he also said it needed a tune up which the plugs I did last year and they still looked almost brand new but I guess since he cracked one then I do. He also wrote he put a unused plug in it when I watched him grab a used one. The dude is a scam artist and if you think he will fix your car think again and it won't be his fault it will be yours but most of all is all I wanted was a yes I messed up and broke the spark plug and just put a new one in but I guess that was asking too much so we will see what bar says. read more
